We spent six nights in the Dunbheag Cottage. It was so cosy inside, with everything you could possibly need for a home from home stay. The outdoor seating area on the decking was perfect for relaxing and al fresco dining which we did a lot of! It was super to have access to a section of private beach with a beach hut where we had several picnics! Our dog was made to feel very welcome and had a great time too. Our hosts were fantastic and gave us a lovely warm welcome of chocolates and prosecco. They were on hand for any queries. It was a truly lovely stay and we hope to be back one day. The Strone Inn is only a 10 minute walk and so is the cafe. Lots of woodlands nearby and the Botanical Gardens are a must!

Lovely property with stunning views, very relaxing. Had some of our meals out on the veranda which gets the sun all day. You can walk through the owners garden which is stunning to go down to the beach( which is stoney) . Lovely chilled holiday.

Comfortable and well equipped.

Dunbheag Cottage is a lovely cottage in the grounds of a stunning house on the Loch. The owners are very nice, friendly and respectful. Strone is a small quiet hamlet with a great pub, doing excellent food and a very lovely little cafe next to the pier. We had a great week here in July 2021 and the house was perfect for a family of 4. The balcony is gorgeous and we were lucky with the weather being suitable to eat our meals out here. The house is perfectly placed for Benmore botanical gardens and numerous forestry commission carparks and walks whilst being close enough to Dunoon that we could nip into town to get our shopping. We visited the Isle of Bute one day which was less than an hour away including driving and the Colintraive ferry. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would go back.

We booked for 1 week at this cottage in Strone, good weather and location made for a great break.
A few gremlins with the booking after payment, only impacts those with Gmail accounts. Was resolved by Argyll Self-Catering, but could have been forewarned as it appears to be a known glitch.

Given that to get any break during Covid-19 is a challenge for the owners, agents and customers its important that the cleaning and instructions given is to a high standard.
We had a blocked sink on day 2, which would have been a problem before we got there - this was resolved but how can you clean with a blocked sink.
There was a damp smell, it needs a good clean, marked down due to the number of dust traps that had not been cleaned; better to remove than leave these around. The interior could do with a refresh, a large number of soft furnishings that also fall into the above category.
There was also a note left saying that using the utensils was at you own risk as the sanitations could not be guaranteed. Bit unexpected as we told there would be a Covid-19 clean prior to our holiday.

Great location with access to the beach so that is a big plus.
Many good walks in the area.

Had a fabulous stay at Dunbheag House. Accommodation good, well equiped kitchen. Great that the garden was fully enclosed so Ozzy our border could wonder round. Great location, amazing walks close by: Kilmun Arboreteum, Benmore Botanic gardens, Ardentinny beach, Strone Hill, Bishops Glen.....
The most amazing thing though was walking through the owners garden to the private beach on the loch with a veranda with chairs etc, most amazing place to sit with a glass of bubbly or a beer! Nice for a swim too.
Lovely owners who we chatted to in the garden as we passed through each afternoon after a days walking.

Extremely warm welcome by delightful owners, Hans and Helga. Cottage was very comfortable with its own enclosed garden (suitable for dog) overlooking the main gardens which are absolutely beautiful. Very much enjoyed my stay especially sitting down by the shore watching the beautiful sunsets.

We have been to Dunoon/Strone 7 times over the last seven years. We love the area, so peaceful and plenty to see and do. Dunbheag Cottage was perfect. It was very comfortable and clean, everything you needed to make it home from home. The view was absolutely fantastic from the cottage. There was a summer house in the garden (which was huge) with chairs for you to sit in, but, the best was the glass summer house on the edge of the garden, it was most beautiful sitting there on a night time looking out to the loch. There was also the lovely surprise of chocolates and a bottle of fizz, that went down very well on our first night. Thank you Helga, you have a beautiful place and we will love to come back next year.

We enjoyed a few days in a warm house, plenty of space for four. We had beutifull walks in a nearby valley.
