Stillwater is a beautiful cottage in the heart of Whitstable, perfectly located between the seafront and the high street with its abundance of friendly and lively cafes, restaurants, pubs and boutique shops. The stylish interior perfectly complements the period features of the cottage with the addition of contemporary artwork, soft hues of blues and greens, and modern furniture, all creating a charming seaside holiday home.

This lovely former fisherman’s cottage sleeps four guests. On the ground floor is a cosy sitting room, an open plan kitchen / dining room and shower room. The bedrooms are on the first and second floor, with a fabulous side room opening onto the sunny balcony, perfect for taking some time out to read. Outside, there is a pretty cottage garden with established trees and shrubs, the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a busy day.

Will book again

Our party of 4 (female friends) had a fantastic time staying at Stillwater and in general it met our expectations. The house was clean and modern and is in an excellent location, just moments from the high street and the sea. We had a fabulous time exploring the town, eating and drinking in the local bars and restaurants (which are many and varied), and walking along the sea front.

There were just a couple of things that negatively affected our stay:
- Heating: There appeared to be no heating in the kitchen, so it felt cold in the evenings; in addition, the towel rail in the bathroom wasn't on enough, so towels stayed wet. We followed all of the heating instructions provided but couldn't heat the downstairs as well as we would expect for a property like this.
- Equipment: There was only one frying pan so making certain meals was tricky, and no microwave, which isn't the end of the world but it would have been useful. There was also nowhere downstairs to hang coats, which was inconvenient, and not great if you've been out in the rain.
- Doors: We opened the balcony door but as it had swollen in the rain we couldn't close it again; we did report this so hopefully it has already been rectified. Also, the first floor bedroom door handle came off in our hands.

Most of these issues would be very quick to rectify.

A few issues which might preclude our rebooking at the property:

The combination of the steep staircases with incomplete handrails, and only a downstairs bathroom, was a concern.

We missed having a microwave, which are usually standard in holiday properties.

Car parking was a daily hassle - the information pack could have included more detail of roads available without restriction.

Minor faults - the coat hooks by the back door were not secure, and the master bedroom doorknob was loose.
