Curlew Cottage is situated at the entrance to Glengalmadale and has benefited from a recent refurbishment in 2020. This is a well-located cottage for families looking to holiday on the West Coast of Scotland.

The cottage is single storey and sleeps up to five (one double en-suite, one twin and one single room), there is also a separate shower room. The light and spacious kitchen and dining area has dual aspect views of Loch Linnhe and the awe inspiring Glengalmadale horseshoe ridge of hills. The living area has large comfortable sofas and the all important wood burning stove for creating a cosy atmosphere on holiday.

There are lots of walks and sights to enjoy right from the doorstep of this cottage. A short stroll away and you are on the pebble beach listening to the waves from Loch Linnhe and the calls of seabirds including the Curlew, Oyster Catcher, Snipe and many more. The walk through Glengalmadale always takes your breath away; the shear size of the hills around you is spellbinding. Gazing to the skies Eagles are often seen and on the hillside, look out for grazing red deer and wild goats.

Up to two dogs welcome, charged at £24/pet. There is a small fenced area to the rear of the cottage.

Extremely comfortable, clean and cosy cottage that was perfect for our family get-away. The house comes with all amenities needed and the estate office could not have been more helpful helping with the booking and other activities on and around the estate. Highly recommended.

I have stayed at Kingairloch before although this was the first time at Curlew Cottage. Like other stays, the help and advice from the team has been great. The cottage is lovely and well planned and is spacious yet still has the "cosy-by-the-fire" feel to it (yes we even lit the log burner!)

The stay was part of a longer tour around Scotland and was a great place to finish the trip. Lovely to see Deer from the kitchen window and to really feel a million miles away from home. Can definitely recommend to anyone!

We absolutely loved our stay in this comfortable cottage, which is bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside (or in the pictures!). The cottage was cosy, with comfy beds. Great to have an en-suite and another bathroom. The kitchen was spacious and the living room cosy with a woodburner. We adored the ever-changing views from the front and back, and loved all the visitors to the garden (deer, sheep, highland coos). The vegetables from the walled garden were delicious. Although the weather was pretty poor, we enjoyed many nice walks in the glen behind the house and on the beach. We also made the most of nearby activities, including canoeing with Otter Adventures in Strontian (highly recommended!), a visit to nearby Lochaline including the White House restaurant (fabulous!), a trip on the chair lift up Glencoe Mountain Resort and a visit to Mull. We also had a delicious dinner at the Boathouse - such tasty food, including for our kids.

There were only a couple of minor issues - the heating stopped working properly, which was fixed straightaway after I reported it, and although it was generally clean there were some dog hairs in the cottage which was not ideal for some in our family who are allergic. Other than that the cottage was perfectly equipped and so comnfortable.

The kids are already asking when we will be back - we are looking forward to our next visit!

We had a great week in Curlew Cottage! It was spotlessly clean and well equipped, and the location was beautiful looking down to the bay and beach one way, and up the Glen to a horseshoe of mountains the other. Although there was another larger cottage occupied next door, we barely saw or heard anyone.

Located only half an hour's drive from the Lochaline ferry, we went across to Mull twice and saw plenty of great wildlife, including multiple Golden and White-tailed Eagles, and a family of Otters. But closer to home a Golden Eagle flew over the estate and there were red deer stags in our garden most evenings. No sign of Pine Marten, but I'm sure they're not far away...

We would certainly recommend Kingairloch and hope to return.

Our third stay at Kingairloch and first at Curlew Cottage. The cottage is warm and comfortable with everything you might need. Plenty hot water for showers and has a bath too if you want a soak! Comfortable beds and the peace a quiet make for a great sleep. Beautiful and ever changing views from all the rooms. We enjoyed lots of walks from the cottage. It was great not to have to drive to reach good walks for our Springer, Robb. The beach is just five minutes walk and is sheltered and excellent for paddle boarding/swimming (our hardy daughter did both in March!!). Next to the cottage there is a lovely walk up the glen (Robb's favourite. He could get as wet and muddy as he liked and have a swim in the burn to clean up on the way back to the cottage!)
Although there is a large property (The Steadings) right next door the cottages are positioned so that each has privacy and we were completely unaware of our neighbours. There is wildlife in abundance, red deer being the most prevalent!! Never seen so many and so docile and unfazed by human presence. It was lovely to watch them arriving as we cooked our dinner. The small fenced area by the back door was really handy for taking Robb out after dark as the deer seemed to spend the night around the cottage which he was quite excited about!! Would highly recommend a visit or a carry out meal from the Boathouse Restaurant on the estate, lovely food and owners happy to provide choices for the vegans in our party. We are excited to keep coming back to Kingairloch as it appears to just get better and better.

Beautiful cottage, fabulous views, comfortable beds , the wildlife was stunning the only downside was the Corrin ferry wasn't running, quite a long drive round, and a small essentials welcome pack would of been appreciated.

The weather for our visit this year was fantastic, which made this trip to Curlew cottage even more wonderful. The cottage was as great as the others have been for us. We saw the Golden Eagles and sea Otters this year for the second time. Our trip up was made a little longer owing to the broken ferry but did not matter as the drive is still stunning. Many thanks for another great spring break.

A very well appointed cottage, spacious yet cosy at the same time.
All in all well equipped.
Stunning location.
Lots of Birds both in the garden & on the hills.
Many deer in the garden, sleeping on the lawn, along with in the hills.
Pine Martin, we think possibly four, coming into the garden at night, with some encouragement.
Looking forward to many more trips to Curlew Cottage.
Thank you to the Kingairloch Team, every thing very much appreciated.

This is our second stay at Kingairloch and first time in Curlew Cottage. We loved it! The cottage is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location is unbeatable and the wildlife is wonderful- including of course the pine martens that we fed and filmed every evening. Stags, goats and sheep all wandered around regularly our front lawn and we spotted eagles above too. Who could ask for more!

We decided to do something different this year and we stayed in Curlew Cottage, on the estate. It was a beautiful location with wonderful scenery from every window of the cottage. We saw a fair bit of wildlife, even at that time of year, but really enjoyed the 'garden visitor' on our last morning. There was the most beautiful, calm stag having his breakfast in the garden. I even ventured outside to get clearer photos and he seemed totally unaware of my existence (although I'm sure he wasn't)! The cottages were recommended to me by a very good friend and I would have no hesitation at passing this recommendation on.

We stayed in Curlew for a week in November. The location is stunning and the accommodation was really great.

The cottage does have another a few yards away - so if it is complete seclusion you want then Curlew isn't that, but if you don't mind having neighbours then go for it!

Unfortunately, email contact from the mIlbox given on bookings etc isn't very responsive.

This is our second visit to Kingairloch but our first stay in Curlew having previously stayed elsewhere on the estate. The position of the cottage was fantastic with great views from both the front and rear of the property. There are great walks from the door, a lovely walled garden to visit and plenty of wildlife to see. Whilst the towels and bedding were immaculately clean, the general cleanliness, amenities & condition of the cottage was a total disappointment.
The cottages are now run by an agent after a change of ownership earlier this year and the drop in standards was very noticeable.

I cannot speak highly enough about Kingairloch, if you’re looking to escape from reality in a remote and stunning highland setting then this place is perfect beyond words.

We stayed in Curlew which was situated at the base of a Glen and surrounded in mountains and breathtaking scenery. I would never tire of that view and waking to Stags in the garden.

The cottage itself had everything we needed for our family of 5 and 2 Labradors, it had a lovely rustic charm.

We didn’t want to leave and will be back in a couple of years or so.

Our first time in Curlew Cottage although we've stayed many times in other cottages on the estate. Curlew really is a great cottage to stay at with stunning views from each window and lovely walks from the door, either a circuit to the beach ( wellies required to cross the river in front of the Old School !) Or a nice stroll up Glengalmadale. The wildlife didn't let us down either with views of Golden Eagles, White Tailed Eagles, Goldcrests, Redwings, Red Deer, Otters and nightly visits from a Pine Marten. It won't be long before we're back at Kingairloch....can't wait!

This is our third visit on the estate of kingariloch, which is the idyllic location for a break, each and every minute the scenery changes. this year we stayed at Curlew Cottage as we are working our way around the estate cottages, as on the previous occasions the Cottage was perfect on our arrival well stocked and comfortable. It took us some time to work out how to open the fire, but as usual one phone call to Susan and it was sorted. As usual we had the visits from the stags and deer, and the grumpy sheep. The walks from outside the Cottage are splendid and peaceful, makes you feel like your in a different time zone. Already re booked for next year. Thanks to all the staff at Kingairloch for another wonderful break.

This is our second year at Curlew (having previously stayed elsewhere on the estate). The Cottage was spotless on arrival, as is the norm we have come to expect from our hosts. The kitchen is very well equipped and was well used to feed the 4 adults during our stay. With fabulous walks on our doorstep, the cottage is ideal for walkers, nature lovers or those just looking to settle back and relax among the fantastic views around the estate. We were visited by Otter in the back garden during our breakfast one morning and we were regularly visited by the local deer and had fabulous sightings of White tail and golden eagle during our stay. I highly recommend the cottage and the others around the estate and the warmth of our host Susan who can not do enough to ensure you get the most out of your stay.

Curlew Cottage was everything we wanted for our weeks holiday in a beautiful location under the hills and on the shores of Loch Linnhe. The cottage was lovely and spotlessly clean with good quality bedding and towels. The location is fabulous; mountains to the back and the loch to the front with a river just to the side. Although the road is right outside the front, there are barely any cars and we happily let the kids explore far and wide on their own. The deer were a regular feature and came right down to the garden one night. We also saw a pine Martin, buzzards and possibly an eagle! We popped into Kingairloch house for lunch one day and would highly recommend, especially if the weather allows a balcony table overlooking the loch. Although there was nothing our fussy kids would eat, the owner (Sue I think) happily accommodated and came up with lots of suggestions not on the menu. They ended up with cheese sandwiches and ice cream which they were delighted with! There are many walks to do nearby and the lochaline-fishnish ferry means a visit to Tobermoray on Mull is an easy day trip. One thing to mention is that another property 'the steadings' is right next door. It still feels really private and I doubt you'd get a rowdy hen party but I don't think that was clear from the website. We had an absolutely amazing holiday all down to the beautiful cottage in the beautiful location. Highly recommend.

My husband and I had always wanted to travel to Scotland on holiday and I can say this really didn’t disappoint. We fell in love the moment we got there, so remote and beautiful. People that we dealt with were extremely accommodating due to having to change our booking multiple times due to covid. We also added an extra little human onto our booking which was no problem at all. The property was immaculate and very comfortable. Throughout the week we spoke with multiple estate staff who were more than friendly, giving us lots of information on the area.
We have already decided to make another trip hopefully not in the too distant future.

We are regular visitors to Kingairloch but this was our first stay at Curlew cottage. It has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and was immaculately clean on our arrival (I hope we left it that way Susan). We were fully briefed pre arrival re measures being taken to manage Covid and our safety and this had negligible impact on our stay. We made use of the wood burner and were able to easily restock logs at the side of Kingairloch House. We stayed during Autumn and what a fabulous time of year to visit the Highlands. We were surrounded most nights by a batchelor group of 7 stags and were visited on our last night by a Pine Marten. We had sightings of otter and seal in the Loch, White tailed eagles, Buzzards, Stonechat, Divers.... the list could go on and on. One of the highlights however was watching 4 White Tailed eagles over a glen near Ardnamurchan peninsula. This is a place to stay for wildlife and nature lovers, or those who just want to walk and relax in beautiful surroundings. I can not recommend it highly enough.

Lots of rain but very fond memories .

This cottage has been recently refurbished and is of a very high quality with everything you need. Wildlife was in abundance and we had a regular visit from a local stag to our garden most days! There are loads of well signposted and marked routes available from the cottage - of various levels. The only thing missing was WiFi.... but maybe that's a good thing?

Stayed here for a week in April with my husband and 4 daughters (aged 9, 6, 2 and 4 months). Such a warm welcoming cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Absolutely stunning location and very remote. For us it was the perfect escape from our usually hectic family life. Went on lots of walks in the glen - these would suit any age or ability as there is everything from pathways along the loch shore to mountain climbing. Also saw the deer, stags, sheep and goat on a daily basis which the children loved. All this directly on your doorstep! Bungalow was clean and cosy with spacious rooms. The only 2 criticisms are that the bedrooms lead directly off of the living room (so we had to creep around once kids were in bed) and some of the window seals were faulty so a little draughty (could be a problem in winter but not for us this time). Excellent email contact from Katrina beforehand with lots of information and advice - we'll definitely be returning!

We were thoroughly taken aback at the sheer perfection of this entire holiday, from the comfort of the bed right through to the beauty of our surroundings, this holiday totally exceeded any expectations. The friendly and helpful people (thank you Neil & Nicola for the welcome) on the estate were an added bonus and Susan was on hand should we have needed anything at all. My husband did some fly fishing (thanks Vince) although the season had just started so not much luck, maybe next time!
The deer and stags were awesome to see outside the cottage and the wildlife was simply breathtaking, such a wide variety of birds along with goats, their kids, sheep and their lambs and horses!

The Boathouse Restaurant was a winner for us and given it was only their 2nd night open when we were there, I've no doubt there success will be a true reflection of the service they provided that evening.

Once you grasp the road in after the first drive, it is quite exciting. We really cannot wait to revisit, this is an absolute must if you want a peaceful, beautiful and remote holiday away from the hum drum (that is London for us).
Thoroughly delighted with the entire experience. Thank you.
