One of our most romantic cottages, Grade II listed Holburn Mill Cottage is the perfect intimate retreat in an idyllic setting. Located on the grounds of the old Holburn Corn Mill, the trickling Hetton burn at the bottom of your garden and the beautiful scenery is so peaceful, making this cottage a relaxing retreat for a leisurely holiday. We have stayed in a couple of cottages located all over Great Britain and this one was the best! It had everything we needed, it was very clean and the location was great too. Very close to both the coast and the Cheviot Hills. The open fire place was much appreciated although the heating was absolutely sufficient even with degrees below zero.The hosts were great, very helpful.There are that many things you could do, we didn’t manage to do all of them. So we will definitely return soon.

This was a return stay at Holburn Mill Cottage and it was first class again. Alan and Christine make guests feel very welcome and the cottage is a perfect place to get away and relax.

This was our second stay in this wonderful cottage.Everything you could possibly need has been thoughtful thought of beautifully furnished to the highest standard and cleaned to the highest standards.The welcome hamper pack is has everything to start your holiday plus so much more.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Sparkling clean & beautifully decorated in calming greys and whites. Very thoughtful touches like gorgeous bathroom products, a delicious welcome hamper with essentials and luxuries & a guide book and local map. We loved coming home after a day exploring the gorgeous pristine beaches, countryside, castles and estates all around to build a fire and cosy in with a game (also provided) for the evening. Do the local circular walk from the cottage round to the top of the hill and St Cuthbert’s cave. Stunning views. The private walled garden bordered by the brook was a lovely peaceful haven. Great local shops in nearly villages too.

First thoughts on arrival at the cottage were how beautiful the surroundings are and how peaceful! The stream running close to the end of the property was magical and only enhanced the ambience. Openening the door to the cottage & exploring the layout exceeded our expectations in that it was warm, very clean and every detail had been so well considered. I had brought a cafetiere as my morning coffee is very important, to find there was one already in the cupboard. Everything you could expect to use was thought of - even toast rack, egg cups, baking trays and a full variety of tableware. I could never have anticipated how well supplied we would be and it felt like being at home. The welcome hamper had every essential (and treat!) we could wish to have before visiting a shop and was very thoughtful - even down to the Mill's own eggs which were delicious. There were even fresh flowers in the lounge! The cottage was immaculate - nice quality bedding ensured a restful sleep and it didn't feel anywhere like any corners had been cut in any aspect of the presentation and comfort. Everything had been given attention & consideration and was spotlessly clean. The location is close enough to Bamburgh, Alnwick, Lindisfarne etc without being too close and the drive to every location always had the most incredible scenery. This visit truly was everything you wish for from a short break with the peace & quiet being very appreciated so we could fully escape our busy work lives back at home. I would absolutely recommend this property & Coquet Cottages to anyone wanting to visit Northumberland and also, we hope to be back ourselves. Thank you!

We loved our stay at this beautiful cottage. Everything you need is provided and the cottage is so lovely. Location is great too, so peaceful. Alan and Christine are lovely hosts, unobtrusive but if you need anything they are always so helpful. This was our fourth visit and we can’t wait to return next year.

We were blown away by Holburn Mill Cottage - it is beautiful inside and out, and the location is stunning and so peaceful.

Inside, the cottage is immaculately clean and so well equipped. Modern, clean and yet in keeping with the building. Absolutely everything you need is available. We like to cook when we are away, and we loved cooking in the kitchen.

The lovely family of hens wandering around and the grouse 'army' wandering around in the evenings made the location even more magical. Just lovely in every way.

Super comfy bed, great shower, comfy sofa and all so stylish and yet cosy.

The cottage is in a great location to easily explore the coast, or inland to the National Park - we spent 6 blissful days at Holburn Mill and will be back 100%.

Final note, the hosts were so friendly and accomodating. Holburn Mill is highly recommended by us!

This is a perfect place to spend your well earned holiday. Great location for us. A private rural escape which is completely tranquil and relaxing. Every need or wish has been considered both inside and outside the property. Hosts are extremely friendly and helpful if required. The welcome pack is he best we have ever had. A wonderful welcome from Christine and Alan and the hens was an excellent start to our really enjoyable stay. The cottage is a beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, well equipped haven for a relaxing and calming stay.

The idyllic setting enhances the environment for a pleasurable, comfortable holiday. This is enhanced by the helpful, approachable manner of Christine and Alan who are available and offer help and assistance if needed. Their manner puts you at ease which relaxes you and adds to your comfort of your visit.

The plentiful welcome pack contained quality products which helped to provide a good start to our holiday. The high standards, quality and comfort of Holburn Mill Cottage has increased our enjoyment of our stay in Northumberland. We look forward to a return visit in the future.

Holburn Mill Cottage is a perfect cottage for two in a lovely, peaceful location. It’s very comfortable, cosy and welcoming and we immediately felt at home. Everything was of a high standard, spotlessly clean and included all the things we needed for a great stay. Excellent wi-fi availablity.

The welcome pack was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the free range eggs laid by the happy, resident hens. There’s also a well stocked village shop a couple of miles away.

When we arrived Christine and Alan were there to welcome us and provide information about the local area. Christine also texted to let us know the cottage was available ahead of the usual time for arrival.

There are many places to visit in this area of Northumberland and Holburn Mill Cottage provided a relaxing retreat after busy days of sightseeing. A wonderful place to enjoy the well tended garden, the bubbling stream running through it and lovely birdsong. We recommend this cottage to anyone seeking comfort and the peace of a countryside location.

We booked very last minute and just needed to get away for a few days to help my husband recuperate after an operation due to him not being able to work. Holburn offered the peace and tranquility we needed and was within easy reach of being able to visit local attractions like Banburgh castle and Holy Island. Felt at ease as soon as we walked in , the hens kept wandering around the garden and we live on a farm so was like home from home. There was everything we needed at the cottage and it was clean and so well kept and we stayed in and cooked a meal most nights and were lucky to have a couple of fine sunny days to then sit outside in the private garden.

This was our third time here at Holburn Mill Cottage. We had thought about trying somewhere else but we really couldn’t see a reason why! Everything we possible want is here, the location is amazing, the property itself is beautiful, Alan and Christine are wonderful hosts too. Cannot fault it and will be booking again near year!

A lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful unspoilt location. The cottage is light and comfortable, nicely furnished and welcoming - everything spotlessly clean - with a private sun trap garden seating area and the calming sound of the river and birdsong. Ideally situated for exploring the nearby coast and inland areas. Owners Christine and Alan are a lovely and friendly couple, happy to share their local knowledge, it was a joy to meet them. We enjoyed the lovely welcome hamper and home-produced free range eggs. We couldn’t have asked for better. Even the weather surpassed our expectations!

Cottage was immaculate on arrival and we tried to leave it in the condition in which we found it.

Northumberland is a beautiful county with lots to offer. The cottage is very isolated but your within 20/30 minutes of lots of places to visit.We enjoyed the peace and quiet around the cottage.

What a lovely cosy home from home Holburn Mill cottage is! It was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. It had everything you could wish for and more, everything was thought of. The owner was very helpful and friendly and keen to know we were ok as well as giving us some brilliant tips on where to go. We didn't expect to be able to enjoy the outdoor space going in October but we need to return to sit out and enjoy listening to the Hetton Burn with a glass of wine. We will definitely return to Northumberland and when we do it will be to stay here. Highly recommended!

This was our third visit to Holburn Mill Cottage, and we’ll be rebooking for next year. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. The cottage is beautifully furnished and decorated, with everything you could need provided. The welcome hamper has a lovely selection of treats which were enough for supper and breakfast plus some nice things to enjoy throughout our week. We stayed a little earlier in the year this time so were lucky enough to be able to sit out in the lovely sheltered garden. And some clear nights to see the stars. The owners are lovely too and so helpful if you need anything. I can’t recommend this cottage highly enough.

From the first moment we entered this little pocket of peace and quiet we knew it was for us.
Everything was spotless and so well thought out from the delicious hamper filled with local goods to the fresh cut flowers in the lounge.
Our hosts Alan and Christine introduced themselves and were full of useful information and were anxious to know if we had everything we needed.
All in all perfect property, perfect location and perfect hosts.

We had a wonderful time at Holburn Mill Cottage. Such a peaceful location with lots of wildlife and the soothing babbling of the Herron Burn at the bottom of the garden. Having booked with Coquet Cottages before, we were aware of just how incredible the welcome hampers are and therefore wanted to avoid food waste by providing our dietary requirements. Wow! We arrived to find a wonderfully generous basket of vegan treats and a whole new range of eco cleaning products. There was also a delightful little wooden crab toy for our 9 month old baby. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed making use of the laundry pulley for drying cloth nappies (!) and listening to the pheasants and owls in the evenings. This was the ideal location to visit Bamburgh, Holy Island and Ross Sands. The guidebook provided by Coquet Cottages was, as ever, incredibly detailed and useful. The owners sent a message to make sure we were settled and everything we needed, but aside from that, we only saw them on our last day as we were packing up the car.

The location was perfect for what we wanted from our holiday. Hosts were fabulous and the property was amazing. The booking was handled by Coquet cottages with complete efficiency, professionalism and a great customer service. There was a satisfying mix of digital / online updates and information in advance of our stay. The voicemail was really appreciated too.
All of this assisted us to choose the perfect place for our holiday.

The property was the cleanest and most relaxing place we have ever stayed. We hope to return.

My wife & I stayed at this cottage for 10 nights from 23/6/23 to 3/7/23. This was one of the best cottages we have stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, cosy & comfortable & in a very quiet place with only the singing of the birds & the babbling of the brook running past the end of the cottage. The garden was beautiful to sit in & we were able to watch a bird nesting in the wall opposite the kitchen window & constantly feeding its babies. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in as the mattress was firm which my wife & I are used to. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival by the welcome basket which was the largest we have ever received. The owners, Alan & Christine, who came & introduced themselves to us were concerned to ensure that everything was ok & if we needed anything we only had to ask. The cottage is situated down narrow lanes but is in easy reach of all the places of interest you would want to visit. We had a great holiday & would highly recommend this cottage.
