A historic stone-built village house, located in the heart of the picturesque conservation village of Warkworth. With 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an enclosed garden, it is also just yards from a good selection of interesting shops/galleries, tea rooms, a French Patisserie, a magnificent castle, and a beautiful riverside. 3/4 mile to a huge sandy beach. 2 well-behaved pets are welcome. Free Wi-Fi.

Castle Cottage is in an excellent position to enjoy all that Warkworth has to offer, including pubs, good restaurants and easy access to the beach. It works very well if you have dogs as the floors in the kitchen and sitting room have hard floors and there is access from the back garden into the kitchen. The garden is large enough for children and dogs to enjoy, with lots of seating for eating and enjoying the weather if you’re lucky enough to visit when warm.
The house is in good condition and the kitchen well-equipped, with a good-size table and six chairs. It was refreshing to be provided with more than adequate crockery as so many cottages provide 6 mugs, say, for 4 people and you are constantly washing up. Dishwasher tablets and washing-up liquid were provided. A large welcome hamper was a lovely bonus, with some local products included.
Bathrooms were clean and modern, and large towels provided.
The cottage is nicely decorated with a mixture of old (one of the bedrooms) and new furniture and we enjoyed our holiday very much.

Castle Street Cottage is a great place to stay. Warkworth itself is a brilliant location with the riverside walks, beach, castle and really great places to eat and drink. Things we love about the cottage: clean and welcoming, fantastic well-equipped kitchen which is a great size, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms including decent powerful showers with plenty of hot water all day! And a lovely, large, enclosed garden ideal for pets and children, with a big patio - furniture for sitting and eating outside. The only reason we have "downgraded" the overall rating is the condition of the garden during our stay this time. A beautiful spot has been allowed to become completely overgrown; the brambles across the path could be dangerous if you had small children staying. Please get this sorted as the garden is such an amazing plus point for families and groups- it is a real gem.

Thank you so much for your kind words and detailed review of Castle Street Cottage. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the cottage's amenities and the beautiful location of Warkworth. We apologise for the condition of the garden during your stay; the recent weather has unfortunately contributed to its overgrowth. Rest assured, we have passed your comments on to the owners and they have addressed your concerns. We hope to welcome you back soon and provide an even better experience.

The cottage is beautiful, situated right in the middle of Warkworth Main Street. It has great facilities, including everything you would need for self catering. The quality of the furnishings and supplied crockery and cutlery etc is good. The house oozes character and has a beautiful enclosed garden at the back, perfect for sitting outdoors to enjoy the Northumbrian sunshine. It is also handy for local pubs, shops, walks and buses to Amble, Alnmouth and Alnwick. The cottage came with lots of home entertainment choices like games, DVDs and books. Perfect for the odd rainy day. The owners kindly catered for the dogs, too, with treats and a towel and bowls. The only real down side is the traffic noise from the main road outside but this didn’t detract from our enjoyment.

We really enjoyed our week at Castle Street Cottage. One of our main reasons to book the cottage was because of the spacious garden as we have a young energetic dog. Harvey enjoyed racing round the lawn in the mornings and we enjoyed sitting on the Terrace and benefiting from the plentiful outdoor furniture. We had a couple of barbecues (having brought our own portable barbecue) when the weather allowed.

We cooked for ourselves most nights, so the large well equipped kitchen was much appreciated. The bedrooms feature beautiful fabrics and furnishings, mixing antiques with more modern, but still classic touches. We particularly loved the shower in the family bathroom because of the high water pressure which made it all the more invigorating.

Overall we were very satisfied with the cottage which was a cosy, comfortable base from which we explored the beautiful beaches and castles of Northumberland.

A very comfortable, well equipped cottage and lovely garden.

We found the cottage to be extremely comfortable and well equipped. The garden was lovely and the location was great.

I thought parking might be a bit of a pain but in fact we were able to park close to the cottage whenever we returned from a trip out.

Wonderful winter break at Castle Street Cottage. The cottage was immaculately clean and well presented and is in a superb spot in the heart of Warkworth village within walking distance of numerous pubs and the stunning local beach, we loved our morning walks. We were blessed with the weather which was cold but perfect blue skies most days and the cottage offered a cosy retreat at the end of a day exploring the local area. The garden at Castle Street Cottage is large and great if you have dogs and would be lovely in the warmer months. Thank you to Mike for the welcome hamper, very thoughtful. We will be back!

The cottage is in a great location. Right in the middle of Warkworth.
The living room and kitchen are very big rooms and well laid out. We stayed with 4 adults, a 1yr old baby & 2 dogs and had plenty of room.
It would have been brilliant weekend. However, the property needs some urgent repairs doing due to some disrepair.
The consumer unit tripped every night we were there resulting in the boiler been switched off and the house being freezing each morning.
In the rear bedroom (not the master) there was a significant damp patch to the ceiling due to a roof leak. This seemed to be recent but the room did begin to have a mildew smell by the end of the weekend.
The radiators also weren’t balanced meaning that the heating only really warmed the ground floor and not the 1st.

Disappointing as the cottage has so much potential.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Castle Street Cottage. We appreciate your kind words about the location, spacious rooms, and layout. You mentioned on the courtesy call made to you on the day after arrival, that the electric tripped once on Friday evening, we were not made aware of any issue with the heating or the electric tripping again during your stay. We would have addressed this concern promptly had we been informed. Regarding the damp patch and mildew smell in the rear bedroom, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Following your stay, the owner has attended the property and remedied this. Unfortunately, there had been a slight water ingress following the recent storms and this has now been repaired. I do hope you will appreciate this was an unforeseen event and is not reflective of the quality of accommodation at Castle Street Cottage which the owners maintain to a high standard and which is supported by all previous reviews. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to Northumberland and host you again in the future.

This lovely cottage is well equipped and has every amenity that could be needed. The beds are very comfortable, although the noise from the street to the front of the house is disturbing first thing in the morning. It is a busy road. As we are oldies, we found the sofas very low and difficult to get out of. They are fine for those that are younger. The gardens and the outside seating and dining are first class. A really enjoyable part of the property. We were surprised and grateful for the incredible welcome pack.

Perfect base for coastal holiday, Castle Street Cottage ticked all the right boxes.

Perfect location for exploring Northumberland. Beautifully appointed, the cottage was spacious, clean, bright and comfortable. It also had plenty of storage. The large back garden was such a beautiful space, we used it every day. Our hosts clearly thought of everything. Warkworth is a beautiful village, the Masons Arms pub and Bertram’s cafe are both a must, as is Cabosse and the Fenwick Gallery. We will likely be returning very soon!

We had a lovely stay at Castle Street which is a great location in the village.

The house was absolutely marvellous and we had not one negative thing to say about this place,

The garden space is very substantial sadly we didn’t have the weather to make the most of it so we may need to have a summer visit.

Great house and we had a great week
