A beautifully renovated 19th century stone-built cottage overlooking the River Coquet in the pretty medieval village of Warkworth, with its abundance of wildlife, yards from the village centre, with several cosy pubs, restaurants, galleries and shops. This gorgeous boutique retreat is extremely comfortable and stylish for couples. Superking bed. Pets welcome. 5 Star, Gold Award Winner. Free wi-fi. Free digital guidebook.

A great holiday and wonderful stay in a well appointed and very comfortable cottage. It was warm and inviting, and we didn't have to worry about heating or hot water all week.
For me, I didn't really need the tempus mattress topper on what was a very luxurious bed, but otherwise a really lovely comfortable stay.
Particular compliments also for the most generous hamper of food that was provided on arrival.

The location in Warkworth was ideal; a super base to explore the area, and Warkworth is so pretty, a stunning castle, excellent walks along to Amble on the riverbank, with a number of lovely eateries/ coffee shops in the village of Warkworth itself.

We would highly recommend Lane End Cottage, for a couple, as a lovely place to stay.
All best wishes, Lucy Smith

Lovely cottage on the river bank in warkworth, well presented and ideal for 2 people. The kitchen is very small but self catering for us is usually cereal and toast then eat out. Generous welcome hamper included for us was bread, cheese, butter, apple juice, biscuits ,scones, jam, chutney plus snacks and poo bags for the dog, I forgot the ground coffee, tea bags milk and a bar of chocolate. Straight out of the door for a dog walk on the river and up to the castle just a few hundred metres away. Magic!

We decided very last minute to have a few days away and Land End cottage in Warkworth was fortunately available for just the right dates. It was perfect! Right by the river with easy parking very nearby and what we came to regard as our own personal seat on the riverbank outside. The cottage is ideal for two with a comfortable lounge, a small but perfectly formed kitchen with everything you need and a lovely big bedroom and bathroom. We knew from previous holidays with Coquet that the Welcome hampers are rather special - so we were a bit disappointed to arrive and find no scones, no bread, no milk and no flowers! But someone from Coquet rang to check that everything was ok, we jokingly mentioned the lack of scones - and before long a young
man arrived with a whole basket of goodies! We should have expected nothing else from Coquet!

The cottage is in a great location, very quiet at night. It’s great for watching the birds on the river & the many paddle boarders .
There are a lot of lovely walks in & around Warkworth too. The cottage itself is very comfortable & a relaxing place to stay. Will definitely be returning .

All excellent, very clean and comfortable. Have stayed before.
A little on the expensive side...3 nights is now pushing £800.
Only thing to consider is the fact that alot of people walk right past the property as it's positioned on a corner of 2 very busy footpaths.

Great stay, but...

Lane End was great as always, but unfortunately heating in the house is controlled remotely and it was uncomfortably hot in the property for the time we were there, despite requesting that it be turned off in a courtesy call with a very pleasant lady from Coquet Cottages. Turning off the radiators doesn't work for the radiator located at the entrance to the kitchen as this heats both kitchen and living room and is permanently on. The issue seems to lie with the owners and should be addressed, I think.

Linzi replied 170 days ago
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your fifth stay at the property, I am delighted to hear you found it great as always. We appreciate your feedback regarding the heating. The owners of the property aim to ensure the comfort of all guests and turned the heating down to 18 degrees when they were advised you felt it was too hot. As they were not informed that one of the radiators was still too hot, they were unable to resolve the issue. The owners do live in the same village so would have gladly attended the property to assess and resolve the issue for you during your stay. I do hope we can welcome you back again to Northumberland again soon and should you have any issues during a future stay, please do not hesitate to let us know here in the office.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay and are planning to return next year for longer. The cottage was warm and welcoming on arrival and the generous welcome pack helped us settle in. The flowers were a lovely extra touch. The kitchen was very well equipped and the furnishings in the cottage were of a good standard. The super-king bed was exceptionally comfortable. All of this together with the ideal location of the cottage made for a wonderful stay.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning place. Our second visit to Warkworth with coquet cottages & would highly recommend them. The lovely cottages feel like home with beautiful touches - plenty of large fluffy towels, toiletries and welcome goody basket - we even had an Easter egg!

We had an amazing stay at Lane End. The cottage is right next to the river in Warkworth, which is a charming village with a couple of good pubs (the Hermitage has a great quiz night on Friday!) and a lovely chocolate shop all within a 5 minute walk.
The cottage is well equipped and perfect for 2 people. As it was a little chilly while we were there, we took advantage of the log burner which gave a lovely cosy feel to the cottage.
We have stayed in quite a few Coquet Cottages now and they are all excellent - great customer service and you always receive a lovely welcome hamper at each cottage. I would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider using again. Personally, I loved the location as I could walk my dog for good distances both riverside or beachside, all without getting into the car. On a chilly winter's afternoon, it was fantastic to walk 50m into the dog friendly Mason's Arms and warm by their fire, before coming 'home' to our own cooking and our own log fire.

This is not a criticism, it's an improvement suggestion. And it's a personal opinion, I accept that. The cottage could be improved by decluttering. This would create more space and make the property feel bigger. If it were my property, I'd get rid of the bookcase, I'd get rid of the music system, all DVDs, all books, and two chairs. (It's a cottage for two, only two dining chairs needed). Renters don't use these items these days, they're 20 years out of date. People bring Kindles, they stream films, and they stream music. I bring my own bluetooth speaker. The presence of these old systems sometimes give the impression of 'tiredness' at the property, in the lounge. The kitchen, bedroom and bathroom are just fine, but please, more space in the lounge.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at our cottage. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found the location perfect for your dog walks and visits to the Mason's Arms. Lane End is in a perfect location in beautiful Warkworth village. We appreciate your suggestions on decluttering the cottage. While we understand that some guests may prefer more modern amenities, we try to cater to various preferences by providing a mix of traditional and contemporary comforts. However, we will certainly consider your feedback when making future improvements. Once again, thank you for choosing Lane End for your stay, and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Your opinion is valuable to us, and we're always striving to make our guests' experiences better.

We love Lane End Cottage. It’s very cosy and the perfect base for enjoying all the delights of Warkworth and surrounding areas. There is everything you could possibly need in this little cottage - which we find perfect for the two of us. I think this year was our twelfth visit - it’s always welcoming and feels very much like a home-from-home when we step through the door.

Could you let us know the make of the mattress topper please ?

Julie replied 359 days ago
Thank you so much for your review. A good night’s sleep makes all the difference to the enjoyment of your stay! The mattress topper is made by Panda and was purchased from Costco, but you can buy them from various other retailers too. I do hope you are able to return for another stay and look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back again.

Lovely position in the village away from the main road and next to the river. Car parking very near. Short walk up the hill to pubs and restraints and shops. Walkworth is a lovely village, well placed to visit surrounding towns, villages and the seaside. Getting old, I found the cottage a little dark, and the stairs to bathroom and bedroom a bit steep. Otherwise excellent accommodation, comfortable if a bit ‘old-worldly’. We were contacted to say we could enter cottage earlier than arranged, and found it to be rather cold. Just sorted the heating out when man (owner?) arrived to check the property and thereafter we were very comfy, if not too warm at times. Welcome ‘basket’ very much appreciated. Excellent property, great break away.

Julie replied 359 days ago
Thank you so much for your review of your stay at pretty Lane End Cottage. As a period cottage built in the 1800s it doesn’t have large picture windows as modern properties do, and the staircase is the original ‘small-step’ staircase which has been retained as its unique to this historic cottage and we didn’t want to take this lovely feature away. Despite being a very old cottage, the walls are very thick stone, so it warms up quickly and retains the heat well - even in July when you stayed - making it a very cosy cottage and one of our most popular. I should mention that the heating was scheduled to switch on an hour before your scheduled arrival, but as the cottage was ready well before that, we called to let you know you could arrive sooner if you wanted to, hence the heating not having kicked in at that much earlier time, but once on, it warmed up the cottage quickly, as you found. I do hope you are able to return sometime for another stay and look forward to welcoming you back again.

Lane End cottage is simply perfect. Beautifully presented with everything you could possibly need. There is a bench rightboutside the cottage with lovely views of the river which certainly makes up for lack of outside space. Coquet cottages were amazing. Really helpful , making sure we had a wonderful stay. The welcome pack was unbelievable, so generous. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely return.
