Lilac Cottage is nestled in the idyllic village of Lesbury, just 20 minutes walk to Alnmouth and the 7 mile stretch of sandy beach. The cottage sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, with one shower room on the ground floor. There is private, off-road parking for 1 car, a wood burning stove in the cosy lounge and a pretty, south-facing private patio at the front. 1 small dog is welcome for a charge of £20 per holiday, and there is free Wi-Fi as standard. Graded 4 stars by Visit England.

Such a lovely cottage, very well presented and equipped with everything we needed. Perfect location in beautiful village with excellent community shop and pub down the road and parking on site ( such a bonus)
It was a last minute booking and we couldn’t have asked for anything better.

The perfect cottage in an excellent location to explore the Northumberland coast and countryside. The cottage is cosy and well equipped. The beds are very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the welcome pack was an added bonus. Many thanks.

Lesbury is a lovely village. Great village pub and shop with easy access to surrounding towns, beaches and villages. Lilac cottage is adequate for a short stay. Living room is nice with the large stone fireplace. We didn’t use the small kitchen as we dined out. One small housekeeping point. The Bathroom could do with a deep clean. Lots of black mould around shower tray and roller blind. Fine for our short break but think I’d choose alternative accommodation next time.

We felt that the kitchen utensils could have been more comprehensive. We could not find any instructions for the microwave and electric oven which would have been useful. In Hindsight the downstairs bathroom was a little inconvenient for us. It is however in a lovely location and comfortable for couples especially.

The cottage was perfect for our stay with our dog. Equipped and decorated to a very high standard in a quiet village location. The courtyard garden was fully enclosed and ideal for relaxing in the sun after a morning walking. The welcome basket of goodies for both us and our dog was a lovely touch. There were plenty of walks from the village with the coast being only a short walk away. Good access to other walks, beaches and places of interest.

A great short break location. Very well kept cottage and well-equipped, just a shame the bathroom is downstairs but nothing can be done about that.
Lots of great places to visit including Alnwick, Bamburgh, Holy Island and NT Cragside.

Thank you for leaving a review of your stay at Lilac Cottage. We're thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and could easily venture around Northumberland. Lilac Cottage is in a perfect location, you can even walk to the nearby train station and catch a train up to Edinburgh whilst taking in the gorgeous northeast coast scenery. We appreciate your feedback regarding the bathroom but unfortunately, due to the design of the house, this cannot be changed. We hope to welcome you back to Northumberland in the future.

We enjoyed our stay and the location. Also the fact that there was parking and an enclosed private front garden was great. The cottage was well equipped and we enjoyed the welcome provisions basket. Unfortunately we had only been there a short while when it became evident that there were lots of dog hairs coming from the thick pile rug in front of the log burner and there was also a stain on this rug. In addition the bottom of the sofas had dog hairs on them.
However apart from this, because of the location we would come to stay again.

Our stay at Lilac cottage was excellent. The location in the quiet village of Lesbury was very good and within an easy drive to Al mouth . The cottage was small but perfectly adequate for a short stay . The downstairs bathroom was a challenge on a cold winters night and never seemed to get warm ( my only complaint ) . There is a great village shop nearby for anything you might need and the welcome pack was very much appreciated .

We loved our stay at Lilac Cottage!

The cottage itself is in a nice village location. Not much in the village itself, the pub was closed for refurbishment when we visited, but our intention for the stay was to have some days out and cosy evenings in.

The cottage is perfect for a couple or a small family. Everything in the cottage is done to a high spec, coming home and getting into our own bed made us realised how much we loved the bed at the cottage!

Location wise it was perfect for us. A short drive to Alnmouth (5 minutes) for lovely coastal walks, similar distance to Alnwick for all of the shopping needs and a bigger town to look around. Perfectly placed for exploring the Northumberland coast, we went up to Bamburgh and Lindisfarne and in the other direction to Amble and Warkworth. We took a drive inland on one day as well, heading along the road through Rothbury and Otteburn and to Kielder. It’s about 2 hours each way, but it was a stunning drive with some lovely scenery to take in. The train station is also just outside of the village and has free parking (if you’re there early enough) for trips on the East Coast Mainline. We took the train into Edinburgh for a day, a simple hour journey and you’re in the heart of the city.

When we arrived at the cottage there was some lovely touches like a bottle of wine, fresh bread, butter and jam and even some treats and a toy for our dog! We got a friendly call from the housekeeper on the day of arrival to let us know that the place was ready for us whenever we wanted to get there.

Communication from coquet cottages was perfect, they sent through all of the information with plenty of time for us to plan what we wanted to do whilst we were there including the fantastic interactive guide!

Would definitely recommend staying here. Thanks so much for a lovely break.

Finishing is beautiful, everything is high end and comfortable. Lovely location in a residential village which is walking distance to Alnmouth and a short drive to Alnwick. I would definitely use it again and a perfect location to visit the art festival
