This gorgeous cottage is in the perfect location for exploring Hadrian's Wall country in the west of Northumberland, it's perfect walking and cycling county with many great routes. We had a lovely late autumn break, the weather was kind and we made the most of it, exploring the Roman sites and walking miles and miles!
Having such a lovely cottage to come back to made the days even more special as we were always looking forward to the evenings in front of a roaring fire with a glass of wine.

The views of the Tyne valley on our daily walk from the cottage were fantastic.
The hosts were really lovely and provided great local information on walks and eating places.
The cottage was great with good facilities, providing everything we needed.
Although we had to curtail our stay unexpectedly we will certainly return

Orchard House Barn is very cosy and relaxing being tucked away in a lovely quiet position. There are several walks in the area which Jeff has a lot of information about and is very helpful. I took the option to order an evening meal on my first evening which was excellent, Carol is an excellent cook!!

The cottage was in a beautiful quiet hamlet very close to two tourist towns and within walking distance of a pub. Cottage had everything you could need, very well stocked kitchen and good quality fixture fittings and furnishings x lovely food left on arrival excellent hosts would highly recommend it.

Very high quality of fittings, appliances and furniture throughout the property. More like staying with friends in their beautifully appointed home. Jeff (owner) always around if you need assistance. Take note of owner’s instructions for location although Garmin say-nav post code takes you to a junction and the bottom of drive leading to Orchard cottage.

What a beautiful place Orchard House Barn is. The owners are extremely helpful with all aspects of your stay. Only a short distance from Hexham and Corbridge with lovely independent shops and cafes. We will definitely visit Orchard House Barn again.

A lovely, well-appointed cottage. Impressively well equipped with everything provided and very comfortable. The hosts were very friendly (Jeff was very helpful in suggesting walks in the area) but also discrete. We had a lovely meal prepared by Carol.

The cottage was ideally situated just outside Corbridge in the small hamlet of Sandhoe. There were so many wonderful places to visit well within a one hour drive. And what a joy to come back to each evening and light the log fire. A stylish mix of contemporary and traditional added to the atmosphere of this beautiful property that we can highly recommend.

Orchard House Barn is very comfortable and well appointed and maintained throughout to a high standard. It is in a perfect location for exploring West Northumberland but also within reach of Northumberland’s magnificent beaches and castles. Plenty of local walks to suit all abilities. The local facilities in Corbridge and and Hexham are excellent. Highly recommend.

We could not fault the cottage, the welcome or the dinner on our first night. It is so near Corbridge and Hexham with excellent speciality shops in one and big supermarkets in the other. We recommend the real Patisserie in Corbridge! There are numerous good eating places and your host has provided all the information on where you might want to go. But for us the cottage was a little dark as windows are small and partly blocked by the house in front and very little sun during our stay. So the small courtyard was too cold to sit in. Also it would have been nice if there had been a table somewhere to sit at and for games rather than being bent over the stool and large tray in front of the sofa. Also all walks from the cottage entail going up and down quite steep hills so maybe don’t come if you can’t or have difficulty walking up hill.

Characterful barn conversion kept spotless and well maintained by the adjacent owners. They provided probably the best guidance to local walks, restaurants, etc that we have ever had. The enclosed courtyard is secure for dogs. Well located, with interesting local walks, as well as the best bits of Hadrians Wall half an hour away, NT Wellington half an hour and Kielder around 45 minutes. The nearby village of Corbridge is a gem.

Lovely. We have stayed in a few Coquet Cottages holiday lets and have yet to find a bad one. Orchard is of the same high standard. Very cosy feel, mixed with modern facilities. Perfect base to explore everything Roman. The Sycamore Gap on Hadrians Wall is a must. Would recommend Orchard Cottage to anyone who asks.
