Strathmore is part of our grand collection of large, luxury holiday homes in the country village of Wooler, otherwise known as 'the gateway to the Cheviots'. Sleeping 10, this grand semi-detached home was once the residence of the village vet and is full with history. Now with the addition of a private hot tub in the garden, Strathmore makes a perfect holiday home. Pet-friendly, private enclosed garden, private gated parking, and central to Wooler village centre too. There is an open fire and a wood-burning stove.Free Wi-Fi and Digital Guidebook.

Unbelievable

Six of us went to Northumberland from January 13th to 20th expecting the same stormy weather as the previous week in Lancashire. We had expectations of the cottage but we were completely wrong. We took kitchen scales, a blender, crystal glassware and candlesticks for dinner. We only needed the candlesticks although we would take a longer tablecloth next time. Everything was there. It was an enchanted house. The dog was sad to leave along with the rest of us. We once rented a place in Coldstream which was like the Chateau D'If so this was amazing in comparison. Everything was catered for. We didn't expect to use the hot tub but we had such an amazing week of weather that it was ideal after a day's walking. The final surprise was a concert in the local church St Mary's Wooler, by Northern Symphonia of Schubert's Octet and 5th symphony which was the equal of anything in the Bridgewater Hall. And that is from a Salfordian regular. Oh! And the village of Wooler is also beautiful. I only hope that I don't cause a run on it and make future visits difficult.

Greta size house for 10 people but it needs a bit of TLC and some money spent on pans, and various tableware. More attention to detail on the cleanliness required.

Strathmore is a fabulous place to stay. We arrived 2 days before Christmas and everything was thought of.,decorations, crackers, a welcome hamper and even a home made cake. We all enjoyed the hot tub in the garden. We will return.

A lovely big house - ample for our party of 9. Great location for Wooler high street and able to park all 3 cars on the drive. 20/30 mins from the coast. Beds clean & comfortable, plenty of seating downstairs for us all to 'spread out'. Hot tub was a great addition.
The property did feel a bit 'tired' in places - garden furniture was in need of some TLC, a lot of the crockery was chipped, glasses mixed in size and shape and we couldn't muster 9 tumblers (mainly wine/prosecco glasses). Plenty of cutlery though.
Noting the pets are allowed, we didn't see any evidence of dog hairs etc so that was a real positive.

We booked this house because the room configurations worked for our family. 6 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs originally. However, the owner very kindly allowed us to bring along a newly acquired (since our original booking) four legged friend. The house was very well equipped, however when young children stay we could of done with a pizza tray but that was easily overcome. The welcome pack was very generous, the little ones enjoyed the chocolate with their names on which was a very nice touch. The hot tub was added luxury and the beds were so comfy too. The house is ideal for family gatherings/holidays/celebrations with a generous dining room and lovely big front room ideal for entertaining as well as the lovely garden. Many an hour was spent with Nana and Grandad playing swing ball and badminton in the garden. The chocolate/sweet shop in the village is well worth a visit but don't take too much money with you if you are taking the children... or adults if they have a sweet tooth. The only down side for me is that I managed to scrape my car bumper on the granite pots on the drive but that was my fault. If you are looking for a home from home to spend with your loved ones I would highly recommend.

We all enjoyed our stay in the Strathmore. It was a lovely old house. My daughter had a fantastic time with family and friends celebrating her upcoming wedding in August. She loved her bedroom with the freestanding bath and huge king size bed. It was a great space for socializing and just enjoying time together. Everyone loved the Jacuzzi too. We looked at several houses before choosing this one and would say it was definitely value for money. We'd definitely stay again.

We booked Strathmore for a joint birthday weekend celebration and it was everything we needed. Lovely house with comfy beds and a good living space.
The garden and hottub are a special bonus.

My only comment would be that the en suite rooms don't have showers, only baths/toilets.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review about your recent stay at Strathmore. I am delighted to hear that you found the house well-appointed and comfortable. It's great to know that you were able to enjoy the lovely garden and relaxing hot tub during your stay. In regards to the en-suite bathroom, we appreciate your feedback and just wanted to clarify that we do mention on our website that this particular room is equipped with a bathtub instead of a walk-in shower. Nonetheless, we hope this didn't cause any inconvenience during your stay, and we're glad that you had a pleasant experience overall. I hope we can welcome you back to Northumberland and I look forward to helping you plan another wonderful stay.

Just back from a lovely break meeting up with family from all over UK. Spacious well equipped house. Beds were all very comfortable and the hot tub was much enjoyed by our group. Weather wasn’t great but had nice walks and lovely ice cream at the local milk bar. We had 3 dogs in our party and it was such a great find to have a splendid house welcome them all- no holiday is complete without our canine companions. We had an issue with a sluggish shower drain which Catherine attended to very promptly and the neighbours luckily loved the bagpipes! The WiFi signal was a bit variable which challenged one of our party trying to do some remote working. Wooler has an excellent collection of shops for browsing and shopping for holiday needs. Strathmore is a fantastic place for big group to stay together in great comfort.

There were 10 of us staying at strathmore. The accommodation was perfect. They had decorated the house with Christmas decorations, it was lovely, very festive. There was everything you needed, they had catered for every need. The welcome hamper was fabulous, especially the chocolate slabs. We had one dog with us and they’d even left a little hamper for her, very thoughtful. The bed and bed linen were beautiful, so comfortable. Great location. Couldn’t fault the accommodation. We even managed to spend a few hours in the hot tub, wonderful. We will certainly return to this property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Strathmore. It is a lovely comfortable house, close to the town centre that suited our 3 generation family visit. The communication with the owner and the personal touches she took to make us feel welcome were very much appreciated. The children enjoyed playing with the toys that were available and we also enjoyed time in the hot tub.
Strathmore was very central and we were able to visit coastal Northumberland easily yet able to take advantage of the countryside to walk the dogs nearby. We also went to Beamish museum which was an hour away, and provided an excellent day for all ages.
We also ate in one of the local restaurants which was very child and dog friendly and we took advantage of the new distillery tour and the restaurant/ bar.
All in all an excellent holiday.

A well equiped holiday with everything you need. Comfy beds ans good location to Wooler. Only minor issues was not enough large mugs and glasses and dish cloth and scourers past their best. Slight issue with hot tub which Catherine sorted straight away. And when I asked, Catherine brought her 2 bull terriers down for me to see. Great dogs !!
We had a great family holiday, have used Coquet Cottages in the past and will use again
