Lovely peaceful location for exploring Devon, beautiful grounds with plenty of space for dogs to run around. Very dog friendly with a basket of towels and throws just for them.
Very well equipped cottage with super comfy beds.

We stayed at The Cow Byre Cottage at Bidwell Farm for a week with our family, including our 18 month old Grandson & dog to celebrate my Son’s 30th Birthday. Caroline was so helpful & provided everything we needed. The cottage was very comfortable with everything you need & set in the most beautiful grounds, which our dog loved too! It was so peaceful & relaxing.
Caroline had left a much appreciated welcome pack, including a delicious local made cake!
Caroline’s parents, Richard & Patsy were so welcoming too. The local pub The Sidmouth Arms served delicious food & the staff were so friendly. We would love to return to Bidwell Farm.

The Cow Byre provides comfortable and well furnished holiday accommodation for up to six people. Easily accessible from the A30, yet fer enough away to be undisturbed by the sound of traffic, the cottage is situated in beautiful farmland offering pleasing views in all directions and making it an excellent base for exploring this part of Devon/Somerset. It has rhree generous sized en suite and comfortably furnished bedrooms, and an open plan living area with good kitchen facilities and plenty of equipment. The sitting area is is not over large, but if you have half decent weather, as we did, you will want to be outside making the most of the outdoor leisure furniture and games equipment. Altogether fhis is one of the best holiay cottages that we have stayed in, and we would unhesitatingly recommend it to others.

From first enquiries until departure everything was perfect.
We were kept informed regarding the holiday approaching and also check in day.
Upon arrival we found an immaculate well kept cottage in a perfect location.
Richard and Patsy were lovely and after checking we were all ok left us to enjoy our holiday in this beautiful setting.
We will definitely be back.

TheCowByre has everything you need for an enjoyable short break or longer holiday,third visit for us.Patsy and Richard very welcoming. The surrounding grounds and pond etc well kept and you can walk your dog on the lead when the ducks are out!! Local pub does good food and is dog friendly.

We really enjoyed staying at the Cow Byre. It within 30 - 50 mins of the coast ,lovely gardens , National Trust properties and many more attractions.. There is an excellent pub 5 mins away . It is a lovely quiet and restful property with a spacious outdoor seating area and grassed area beyond. The kitchen is well equipped . The beds are comfortable and the bedrooms spacious . The booking system was easy and professional with clear information and website and updates.

After nearly a 7 hour drive, we were very happy when we arrived at Bidwell Farm, an absolutely stunning setting! We were greeted by the lovely Richard and Patsy, who were so charming. The cottage was perfect for us, everything you could wish for, very comfortable bed and sofa and the bath in the bedroom was wonderful. Nice touches with the cheese, milk and wine. The weather was great so the land and space was appreciated. The week flew by, but we were so happy we choose Bidwell Farm for our break. We had a very tasty Roast in the local pub, Sidmouth Arms. We have stayed in many wonderful places in the South West and this is up there with the best, thank you Caroline, Richard and Patsy! x

Having just spent a most enjoyable week at Cowbyre Cottage we can honestly say
this is by far the best cottage we have ever stayed in.
Caroline and her parents Richard & Patsy have created a very unique place to stay.
Richard & Patsy were charming nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome.
We will certainly recommend Bidwell Farm to our family & friends.

The Cow Byre is suitable accommodation for someone who has difficulty in walking as the bedroom including shower lounge dining and kitchen are all on the level.
The property is in a beautiful location is comfortable and clean with modern facilities.
The Bidwell Farm marmalade can be recommended!

Have returned to The Cowbyre several times & never disappointed. After travelling 525 miles it was a welcoming phone call from Caroline letting us know we could access the property early, much appreciated. On each return there has always been improvements and this year was a larger fridge/freezer. The freezer compartment was large & plenty space to stock up with Otter Valley ice cream.

Richard & Patsy make you feel welcomed & can offer additional information including places to eat.

Excellent property which is well maintained & very clean. Relaxing surroundings with plenty places to visit within short drive.

The Cowbyre Cottage at Bidwell Farm is outstanding. We've stayed at many different UK cottages on our trips from Australia, but this has been the best. It is very clean, comfortable and has spacious bedrooms (one has a bath tub in it!). Each of the three bedrooms has an ensuite with a shower and toilet, making it so much easier for everyone to get ready for a day out in beautiful Devon. The views from each window are lovely, too. Looking out across green fields and hills, with the only sound breaking the peace and serenity being the pleasant chime of the Church bell in nearby, Upottery. And added to all this, we had the most charming, welcoming hosts. Very highly recommended, indeed.

The Cow byre was booked for our first family holiday post Covid. Such a lovely location; beautiful cottage, wonderful scenery and perfect hosts. The cottage supplied everything we could wish for and Caroline went the extra mile to provide us with two upright chairs for my parents who struggle getting out of ‘comfy’ sofas. Lovely meal at the Sidmouth Arms pub in the village and Honiton just a short car journey away for supermarkets such as Tesco, Aldi and Lidl. Just watch out for SatNavs which seem to want to send you up Pound Lane onto the A30!

We stayed at the Cowbyre 2 years ago just before the pandemic and were so delighted to come back.
We saw that Caroline had also made the Cowbyre dog friendly which meant we could take our cocker spaniel with us. This was a real plus for us.
Our two children ages 7 and 12 really enjoyed the new addition of the trampoline since our last visit. The Cowbyre guide that Caroline has developed since our last visit is really useful. You can download directly to your smartphone. We took lovely walks locally at Beer, Sidmouth, Exmouth, Lyme Regis, ate at the Sidmouth Arms and Rockfish. We also visited the trampoline park flip in Somerset.

In addition the new TV, free standing bath and walk in shower were enjoyed by all.

A lovely change of scenery and relaxing week all round.

We had a fab stay, perfectly placed for dog walking and the pub!! Even had 10 days of sunshine before the rain which made it even better! Lovely hosts and the most gorgeous views too.

From first booking to leaving, Bidwell Farm is a smooth operation. Caroline kindly held the booking provisionally whilst we checked family calendars, she responded to questions about paddle boarding on the lake, and was efficient, friendly and helpful.
The digital guide book emailed in advance aided further planning and orientation.
My daughter and I booked facials and pedicures/manicures with Jemima (details in the digital guidebook) to be carried out in the cottage, whilst my sons and husband played golf (Axe Cliff course - great sea views, apparently).
Patsy and Richard are delightful, charming and engaging, as others have said, but in no way intrusive. They are generous and open in sharing their grounds. We had no issues with Cow Byre but it is reassuring to know that they are on hand should any issues arise. Caroline also made her contact details available, should they be needed.
The beds in Cow Byre are exceptionally comfortable, the cottage was spotlessly clean and felt "fresh" and not tired and worn as rentals can tend to be. There is attention to small detail, such as Nespresso coffee machine (and pods), Hive heating control, unlimited logs and fire starters, and barbecue equipment and even towels and throws for our dogs. The cottage is very well thought through.
I cannot disagree with others who have said that the sitting room is proportionally on the slightly small side but it was not an issue for us. The bedrooms are generously sized and since our children are teenagers it was rare that we were all sitting on the sofa together - someone would be at the table on a computer or fishing at the lake. We probably used the sitting room for an hour of so a day and spent the rest of the time outside - in the winter it may well be different.
We felt privileged to be able to enjoy the grounds at Bidwell Farm; watching the sunset from the garden was a joy; walking our dogs and stretching our legs was a delight. There is a feeling of peace and tranquility to the setting, which belies the fact that to make them look so effortless and relaxing a lot of work must be going in behind the scenes. The grounds have far-reaching rural views of rolling, verdant hills. We particularly enjoyed watching Cedric, the local farmer, move his cows from field to field; it was mesmerising and we were almost transfixed to witness his cunning, guile and skill which was closely matched by his mischievous and errant herd. We walked into Upottery (less than 10 min walk) a few times and had good pub grub at the Sidmouth Arms. We enjoyed some local walks from the cottage but it is a car journey to get anywhere else. Bidwell is easily accessible to many classic Devon locations; we went to Honiton, Budleigh Salterton, Branscombe, Beer, Burton Bradstock, Lyme Regis and others, but tended to limit our travels to a half hour or so in the car.
We tend to have a UK based cottage holiday with our children (and taking our dogs) each year and Bidwell Farm ranks as one of the best cottages we have stayed in.
In the interests of balance and fairness, I have canvassed the views of the rest of the family and we were unable to come up with a downside or a negative - which probably says it all really!

The property is well equipped with good quality utensils, tableware etc. and in a lovely location within easy reach of the coast.The only comment I would make is that the dining/ sitting area is rather cramped for 6 people and the large corner sofa impedes easy movement when people are seated at table.

We were delighted to return to The Cowbyre after being unable to go last year with lockdown. It was just as inviting as remembered with welcome pack and a warm welcome from Caroline, Patsy & Richard.

Great area to walk dog & older parents value wandering around the garden, stopping for a chat with Richard or Patsy (all adds to personal touch which makes holiday memories).

The addition of outside furniture opened up the use of garden & could make use of bbq.

The cottage is well maintained & equipped with all you need. Caroline had the online guidebook which was used to find places to visit and dine out.

Very relaxing holiday in fabulous countryside with very accommodating owners.

Will plan our next visit soon.

The house has everything you would need for a family stay, including fridge and freezer, washing machine, washing line and tumble dryer.
It was very clean on arrival and has all the usual cleaning equipment should you need them whilst there.
Very comfortable beds including bed rails (if needed) for toddlers.
The lounge space I think would feel quite small if it was 6 adults and the weather wasn't good for being outside.
Loads of open space in the garden for energetic children as well as a double swing and large trampoline.
It’s worth noting for those with dogs that the garden is not completely fenced in, there are ducks on site and livestock in neighbouring fields, so dogs need to be on leads.
It is also worth noting that the large pond area is not fenced off, so non swimming children must be supervised at all times.
This is said merely as a safety observation for those considering booking here as I didn’t see this highlighted on the web site (it is in the information pack you get when you’ve booked).
The Sidmouth Arms pub is a short walk up the road and does decent pub grub.

We needed to find a last minute booking as we’d been prevented from going to Wales as planned and were fortunate to secure this gem as there had been a cancellation. We could even take the dog. In fact, he was welcomed at least as much as the rest of us. The property was lovely, the space inside and outside was plentiful and characterful. The hosts were so accommodating and welcoming, any questions we had were answered promptly and comprehensively. Most importantly, the beds were SO comfortable. A much needed relaxing break, it rained most of the time but that really didn’t matter at all. We didn’t stray far, walked and cycled and even had a meal at the local pub.

Fantastic setting, lovely spacious cottage with everything you’d need for a relaxing staycation. Great hosts in Richard, Patsy and Caroline who made us all feel very welcome. The village pub, which doubles up as the local store, is just a short walk away and serves good food. Would thoroughly recommend Bidwell Farm Cottages and will be looking to go back again in the not to distant future.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bidwell its beautiful there and if you want peace and quiet it’s the place and it was not to far to drive to any of the towns or coast and the lovely village was walkable,the cottage was great and well equipped and the owners very welcoming and our little dog was also welcome and catered for all in all we were extremely happy and would recommend to family and friends.

We were a family of 5 (3 adults and 2 children). We booked in pretty much last minute, after the travelling restrictions were confirmed to be eased. We looked at a number of properties in Devon and Cornwall, and settled on this cottage because it is positioned away from busy places. We have not really stayed that remote before with children, but there were plenty of indoor and outdoor games to keep them occupied, on the final day our son refused to leave - always a good sign :) Kids have been asking us whether we will go back next year - perhaps we will! The cottage had everything we needed so we did not think at any point that we need to buy something. Being able to light a stove after kids went to bed and sit down with a glass of wine was really relaxing. We went to the beach every day for 2-4 hours, always a new one, they are about 30-40 minutes drive away. Very happy that we have found this little gem!

We had a lovely few days spent at The Cow Byre during February half term. The location was perfect in a quiet village away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives.
Caroline and Patsy were very helpful and welcoming; they provided great advice in terms of activities and places to visit during our stay.
The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped with quality appliances and furnishings which made it feel like a perfect home from home.

This was our 3rd stay at Bidwell Farm, and our first in the Cowbyre; it was as lovely and comfortable as our previous visits; so well equipped, it was a real home from home and Caroline’s attention to detail made everything so welcoming and festive. We loved the one large living space with the kitchen at the end as it meant we were always all together, which was particularly enjoyable as it was the location for a family Christmas. With the ground floor bedroom and en-suite shower room, the Cowbyre was also superbly set up to cater for my 83 yr old mother who has mobility difficulties. Caroline had even added a rail around the loo and provided a bathroom stool for our stay, which was a huge help. Our two year old grandson loved helping getting the ducks into the duck house at dusk, and having the outdoor play equipment was super too.

We spent the new year week at Bidwell Farm two years ago with our friends in the Haybarton Cottage. We returned again this new year with the same friends and stayed in the other cottage Cow Brye as we now have an English Setter rescue (Cow Brye is very dog friendly). We once again thoroughly enjoyed our week and are seriously planning another visit during the summer.

Had a great time at Cow Byrne. Honestly there is everything in the cottage that you could possibly need. We had our 4 dogs with us and the grounds are perfect for exercising them. Beds are so comfortable. Lovely welcome pack of wine, cheese, milk, biscuits and chutney. We stayed in November so didn’t make use of the BBQ, outdoor seating etc but I am sure that in the summer it’s a fabulous place to stay. Thanks for a great weekend. Hopefully will be back.

Almost perfect, beautiful location, fantastic hosts and lovely house, the only reason we gave just a good for comfort was that the sitting area was a bit limited, comfortable but a bit snug for 6 adults, bedrooms were extremely comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped, would we go again, definitely.

We were made to feel welcome at Bidwell from the moment we booked.

Caroline provided lots of information about the local area prior to our arrival so we could have activities lined up for our two teenage children. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Patsy and Richard who assured us that they were on hand if we needed anything.

Cow Byre cottage is beautiful with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Everywhere was immaculately clean and we throughly enjoyed the large gardens and outside patio furniture.

Bidwell Farm is perfectly situated to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside whilst being within easy reach of the coast and many attractions. I would highly recommend.

The Cow Byre is a wonderful home from home located in stunning countryside in the Blackdown Hills. Everything about this cottage is first class- modern, contemporary design, beautiful garden and setting, generous and warm hospitality from Richard and Patsy who live on site, excellent customer service and advice from Caroline who manages the booking and who couldn’t be more helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here- you won’t be disappointed!

Bidwell Farm is beautifully situated near Honiton just over the Devon border. The Cow Byre has beautiful views over countryside to front and back. There is an extensive area of land to the rear of the property and the village of Upottery with a welcoming church and pub serving good food, a short walk away. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside with our dog who was well provided for in this dog-friendly cottage. What stands out about this property is the friendly welcome from Patsy and Richard and great customer service from Caroline and Sue. Though we initially had problems with the boiler these were speedily sorted out and we were kept informed throughout.

We had a lovely stay at Bidwell. In the heart of the country with farms all around, yet, so modern inside with all amenities as needed. For a family of 6 (incl our kids and parents), we were extremely comfortable, made to feel homely and absolutely loved it. The property owners had such lovely written artefacts regarding the property, local amenities, doctors, tourist attractions, walks … etc …. it was brilliant. We had a lovely time and surely will/ have already started to refer this to family and friends.

Initially we went to Cow Byre for a 3 day stay for a family reunion. We loved it so much there that we decided to rearrange all our plans and stay a whole week! We were travelling with our 2 year old and 7 month old and the house was perfect. They had their own rooms and it was so quiet for nap time. The house was really well equipped, warm and comfortable, we felt completely at home. The setting is stunning and you can even catch the sunset too. The views are gorgeous and the pond and ducks are so much fun to potter about with and look at with the little ones. The house is really well located for exploring the local area and the hosts were excellent. They provided so much information and if we needed anything extra, they went the extra mile to make sure we were really well looked after. We would love to go back again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable, quiet and well equipped home away from home for a family break. Thank you Caroline, Patsy and Richard for being so wonderful!!

We could not have been made more welcome with a generous offering of delicious local produce and fresh eggs during our stay.
It is well equipped in all aspects. There is good parking and a delightful garden which we all enjoyed; the play area and super selection of toys was very much appreciated by our grandson. The ducks provided much entertainment!
Overall it provided a very comfortable base for our holiday in a beautiful setting; with lots of good suggestions for days out and places to eat including an excellent village pub.

We stayed at the Cow Byre Cottage on Bidwell Farm on the 7th September 2018 for one week. An excellent stay. Richard, Patsy and Caroline welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed. The Cottage was beautiful inside and spotlessly clean. It was fully equipped and had everything we could ask for. The grounds were perfect for our son to run around and play. Our son loved taking care of the ducks and we had fresh duck eggs everyday for breakfast. The views from the Cottage are stunning and it was so peaceful. We could not fault a thing and would highly recommend to all our friends and family.

We enjoyed a short stay in August in Cowbyre cottage, which was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could possibly need. We received a very warm welcome from the owner Caroline on arrival, and her parents who live on site were so welcoming and kind to us throughout our stay. The cottage is absolutely superb, and the setting is beautiful with wonderful views. Outside there was plenty of space for our grandson to enjoy, and also a play area, and we all enjoyed watching the ducks! Lovely village short walk away, where we enjoyed a good pub lunch. Would definitely recommend, everything was perfect. We look forward to going back,

Our stay here was wonderful, from the first contact to when we left. Beautiful house, fabulous location. Being an autumnal visit we couldn’t take advantage of the garden as much as we would have liked but the cosy log burner more than made up for that. The cottage is in a quiet rural location in beautiful countryside with many good places (coastal and inland) within easy driving distance. The beds are comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean, and the cottage is well equipped. Richard and Patsy who look after the property are great people -- welcoming, interesting, easy going, and really helpful when needed. We had a great stay - highly recommended.

Our 3rd (or was it 4th?) holiday at the Cow Byre. An excellent week's break for grandparents and family members (including grandson and granddaughter). Weather was good so on-site facilities could be utilized to the full as could exploration of beaches and other Devon locations/events. Grandson caught his first trout (plus others) in the pond and younger sister assisted with netting and returning them! Cottage facilities/bedrooms very adequate. Will be back in 2017!

We spent a fantastic week in Devon staying at the Cow Byre. The cottage is beautiful and very well-equipped - Caroline really has thought of everything. My daughter (5) and nephew (6) adored playing in the garden, which has wonderful views. They especially loved the swings and being able to feed the ducks on the pond. Caroline's parents, Richard and Patsy who live in the farmhouse were incredibly charming and helpful without ever being intrusive. Richard even printed out the local tide charts when we told him we were planning to go fossil hunting with the kids at nearby Charmouth and lent us some books on the subject. He also baked us a delicious loaf of homemade bread that tasted amazing! Upottery is a great location to stay in Devon as they are many lovely day trips only 40 or so minutes drive away, including beautiful beaches and National Trust properties. Hestercombe Gardens was a big hit as was Burton Bradstock where we spend a lovely morning on the beach followed by a delicious seafood lunch at the Hive cafe. The cottage provided the perfect place to relax and cook a tasty evening meal after a day exploring.

Having stayed at the Cow Byre three years ago we were eager to return and were certainly not disappointed: on the contrary, the accommodation remains excellent. The addition of a landscaped area just outside the property is a big improvement. From the initial welcome and the inclusion of some local produce to the level of cleanliness and attention to detail, this is a cut above most rental properties.

We had a wonderful week in the Cow Byre cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed and more.
A lovely welcome pack when we arrived including local cheese and ice cream. The gardens were beautiful and a lovely place to sit and for children to play.
Caroline had provided lots of information prior to our arrival and Patsy and Richard were very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed.
The location of the cottage was perfect - very quiet and peaceful yet ideally situated for visiting lots of local attractions as well as some further afield. The village pub was a short walk away and served excellent food at a very reasonable price.
We will definitely recommend to others and hopefully visit again ourselves.

We had a fantastic stay at The (spacious) Cow Byre at Bidwell Farm. My wife and I, and my two daughters immediately felt at home. The accommodation was first rate and the huge manicured lawn was amazing. We found it to be in an excellent base to visit areas of interest in Devon. I felt the attention to detail i.e the welcome pack, the interior, the design of the garden was of a very high standard. It is the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in. We will definately be returning.

My family and I stayed at Cow Byre cottage over the Easter holidays and we could not have asked for a more wonderful experience. From the moment we booked the cottage with Caroline the owner to saying goodbye to Richard and Patsy (Caroline's delightful parents who live in a separate property on the land), we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant stay.
The property itself is spacious, very comfortable with excellent facilities and good quality furnishings (the beds were particularly comfortable). The real fire burner was really cosy of an evening (though there is central heating throughout, so not really needed), especially as there is a large sofa, which the whole family can stretch out on in front of the flatscreen TV (perfect for those April evenings!).
The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you needed and equipped on our arrival with a couple of essentials and local delights. The Cow Byre has its own outside space, but then there is expansive land within the grounds with a pond and to our children's delight, swings and ducks, which Richard invited the children to put to bed one evening!
Richard and Patsy were very welcoming and helpful, though you would hardly notice they were around, so it really felt like we had the place to ourselves.
The location is great, very quiet and beautiful surrounding countryside, yet only 2 mins to the local village, 10-15 mins to the nearest supermarket and 30 mins to some great beaches and walks.
We had a lovely holiday, very relaxing and the children had a blast with plenty to keep them occupied.
Well deserving of its 5 star status and I would definately recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing and fun holiday.
One area of improvement; the interior photographs on the website do not do the property justice!

A fantastic holiday cottage in a great location in the Blackdown Hills. The property is a beautifully restored and furnished Cow Byre with lots of space for our family, ensuite bathrooms and excellent beds and bedding and the all important wood burner for a winter stay.
Fantastic owners who ensure that you have all you need, including bread for our youngest two children to feed the ducks every morning, a splendid jar of homemade marmalade and a great welcome pack of local produce. The location made a perfect base for exploring the Jurrasic coast, Blackdown Hills, Dartmoor and Exmoor and the local (dog friendly) pub is a 10 minute walk for dinner and beer. We will be visiting again.

This is one of two cottages adjoining the owners parents home in the delightful village of Upottery. The cottage has three bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms, a living and dining area with a great wood burner and a well equipped kitchen. The cottage is finished to a high standard and is warm and comfy and spotlessly clean. Views from the cottage are out to the extensive grounds and adjoining countryside which is really stunning. Great base to explore this beautiful area and a pub within 10 minutes easy walk, even in the dark (although torch advisable!). Richard and Patsy, the owners parents make you very welcome and are on hand should you need any help/advice. A welcome pack including local produce and a treat for our dog was much appreciated. We will be returning and would highly recomend to others.

We spent A lovely Christmas week at Cowbyre cottage which included my in laws and my two children, 3 and 9 months old. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived and a fantastic welcome pack containing mince pies, wine, cheese and ice cream! The cottage is fully equipped including a decent amount of dishes, pots, pans etc which I find a lots of self catering places fall short of so we were able to make our Christmas lunch with ease.

It is very child friendly with a safety gate fitted at the stairs which was great for my crawling daughter. Caroline supplied a big box of toys for the kids which was fantastic! There was also a box of sporting equipment which would be good for the warmer months as there is a large patch of grass in front of the cottage. Would definitely love to come back in the summer and make use of the outdoor space.

All in all we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend staying here.

We had a fabulous weeks stay at Bidwell Farm. The Owners, Patsy and Richard and their Family, are so welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble, just perfect hosts.
The Cow Byre is a fantastic place to stay, very comfortable, well equipped and reasonably priced for the quality of stay.
The Sidmouth Arms in the village is a must visit, we went three times in the week, and the food is beautiful! They were also very happy to accomodate our dog inside which was much appreciated.
The welcome package is a lovely touch, the ice cream is wonderful!
We would also like to say a very big thank you to Michael Douglas for his IT skills and fantastic marmalade!

Great location for a quiet stay with a really nice pub a short walk away. The hosts were positively charming and our 3 year old enjoyed feeding the ducks every morning. The facilities inside the cottage were perfect and we all had better nights sleep than in our own homes. The perfect base to explore Devon's attractions or you could just chill out in the garden with a good book.

This was our 4th or 5th visit and Bidwell Farm is, and has been enjoyed, by three generations of our family. The grandchildren in particular love the setting, the space and being able to see the ducks and sheep etc. It is a glorious spot in good old Devon.

Everything is in excellent order and the more technically advanced of the party were delighted with the enhanced WiFi - no longer slightly temperamental and slow.

The facilities for my disabled wife are adequate (not ideal) but stand head and shoulders above most rental properties - few provide accommodation that is usable by someone in a wheelchair.

Caroline, Pat and Richard are charming and helpful and concerned to see that the needs of guests are met. A great place to stay.

I am very sorry to hear that you were experiencing some difficulties with the WiFi. We have now upgraded our system and there is a stronger and more consistent signal in all rooms.

The property was very easy to find with ample parking adjacent to the cottage.

Supermarkets are within a 10 minute drive so no need to stock up with food prior to making the journey

We arrived to a find lit log fire and a warm welcome. The accommodation was very clean, bed and bedding were excellent and all information required to make our stay very enjoyable was available and easy to find

Wi-fii, Sky TV and DVD player were a big bonus considering the consistent light rain throughout our weekend.

We would certainly have no hesitation to recommend and revisit Bidwell Farm Cottages

We had a great time at the Cow Byre, the location was easy to find and everything was as listed on the web site. Caroline was on hand to meet us when we arrived and whenever we needed her by phone. The heating and water systems were easy to use, as was fire with supply of logs.

There was enough space for the dogs to sleep and the rooms were secure enough to keep them out. the grounds are large enough to stroll around, and you can loop around the lanes into Upottery and back to the cottage in less then fifneen minutes. Or take a longer route if you feel like it.

The rooms were all very clean and well presented. The local and cottage guides were exceptionally useful and helped us plan our week out. The opportunity to fish on site was great which we did with ease.

The local area is exceptionally beautiful and we spent most mornings waking up late with no sound around us, which from a city is great.

Most places in Devon are easy to get to, with traffic allowing less than an hour.

We would recommend the Bidwell Farm cottages to anyone with or without animals.

It would be nice to have somewhere to put dirty wellington boots, although we hid them behind the sofa.

We bought are week at a charity auction and it was a brilliant stay just like being at home , had the lovely big bedrooms and the kitchen dinner and the log burner which for the cold weather we had was ideal which all the logs we could have wished for, will be going back .

We were a party of 5 adults who had a wonderful Xmas break at the Cow byre. The location is peaceful and the views are stunning, but it is really easy to get to places such as Honiton, the coast and Exeter from here. The accommodation was of a very high standard throughout. We were given a very warm welcome and the homemade bread, fresh duck eggs and local produce were greatly appreciated. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at Bidwell Farm Cottages and would like to return in the future.

We found the Cow Byre to be an excellent location with three full ensuite bathrooms. They had a nice welcome package and all the necessities (towels, soap etc) were present. Once we turned the heat on the main room warmed up nicely and we found we did not need heat in the bedrooms. This was a great deal and we will return in the future.

I have no hesitation in recommending a stay at the Cow Byre, Bidwell Farm.
It is an excellent place for a family holiday "with every aspect pleasing". We have now had two holidays there but one needs to book early as it is so popular.
Ideal for children with plenty to keep them amused: swings, games, wide open spaces for them to play safely, ducks and fishing in the pond.
The beds are comfortable which is important if one has a bad back.
You can be sure of a great welcome.

When we arrived at Bidwell Farm Cottages in the evening we felt very welcome.
The Cow Byre was very clean, spacious and we felt very comfortable as at home.
The very silent farm with a big piece of land is specially cultured.
There are three bedrooms each with seperate bath rooms, that makes a family with
4 children very happy and the daily life in the holidays very relaxing.
Lounge and kitchen are completely established and there is a special comfort zone.
Our hosts were very warmly and kind and exceedingly helpful in every way.
We enjoyed it to play soccer or Badminton on the large lawn and liked to feed the
dugs and to follow them to their lovely pond.
We enjoyed the common barbecueing and conservations with Patsy and Richard (hosts).
All in all we had very calm and enjoyable three weeks of our holidays.
