We had a wonderful stay at Oakbank! The house was incredibly comfortable and spacious, making it the perfect retreat in the Highlands. The pool table was a fantastic addition, providing us with great entertainment during our evenings. One of the highlights of our trip was exploring the beautiful walks around the Blue Door—such a lovely area to connect with nature. Oakbank provided the ideal mix of relaxation and adventure. We highly recommend it for anyone seeking a peaceful getaway in the Glens!

Lovely airy with lots of natural light coming in, this spacious and well equipped apartment was perfect for our stay. We didn’t get much opportunity to useThe back garden or garden room, but noted the epic games table and facilities in there, definitely adds to our reasons for coming back.

We had an exceptional stay at Oakbank. The flat is bright and beautiful. It’s equipped with everything you need and more. There is even a games room. The bed was very comfortable; perfect for a good night’s rest. The location was excellent for us, right in the heart of a picturesque village. Communication was easy and responsive. It has been a great pleasure to bring to an end our happy two-month experience in Scotland at Edzell Oakbank. 9 days of tranquility, nature and some short visits to places like Glamis Castle, Aberdeen or Saint Andrews. The house has all the facilities you need and is full-equiped and lovingly decorated.

What a great apartment in a lovely village! It is spacious, comfortable and so well equipped that we could have easily stayed so much longer than the 3 nights we had. The icing on the cake was certainly the recent addition of the games cabin. We spent several hours down there having great fun playing pool and air hockey. Edzell is a lovely village and Oakbank is perfectly situated to make the most of the facilities including a couple of coffee shops and hotels and a great butchers.
We would definitely recommend staying there and hope to be back again ourselves.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Oakbank in Edzell during the Christmas holiday. This was a return visit for us as we enjoyed our previous stay so much. The apartment is very well equipped and there are lots of nearby walks as well as options for eating out.

The new cabin in the garden hopefully gives a little extra space and entertainment for our guests. It has plenty of seating, a small kitchen with fridge, kettle, coffee machine, crockery & cutlery and a versatile 7ft games table which converts into snooker, air hockey and table tennis!

The flat itself appeared to be quite nice and tidy; However, the outside space was a building site, which was not safe to use even we wanted too. This was a massive upset to our family as we are the type of family that like being outdoors and relaxing. The outdoor space that was advertised would have been very welcome as the weather during our trip was glorious.

Oakbank is being falsely advertised across all holiday rental websites as having, “A fully enclosed garden with shrubs and fruit trees, with a large patio with garden furniture”. On one site there was also mention of a new summer house and decking. These were both lies, as the reality was no enclosed garden or summer house with decking, but just a building site with open access to the neighbouring property’s back yard.

I understand that the building work was due to the host installing a garden room, and I’m sure that it will look great once completed; However, at the time of our booking the host should have had the decency and integrity to notify us that there would be no enclosed garden space available. This did not happen, and the host should be ashamed for their misleading behaviour. An alternative would have been for the host to not rent out their property during the building works, but I guess that the greed of making a sale outweighs the decency of being 100% transparent with clients!

We wanted to stay in Edzell and the surrounding area for the full 3 nights/4 days that we had originally planned, but we weren’t expecting to be living on a building site with numerous workmen wandering around. The lack of enclosed garden space made us feel like prisoners in the flat, as the only alternative for us wanting some outside space would have been to go and stand on the high street!

The dishonesty of the host meant that we spent £300 for one night, and we were left feeling ripped off and lied to.

I would not recommend using such a dishonest host in the future as you really have no idea what you might be getting for your money.

Our aim is never to deceive our guests and we hope that you at least found the interior of the property as advertised and to your satisfaction. We are always looking to improve the offering to our guests and the project in the garden is part of this. The onus was on us to inform you prior to your stay regarding the ongoing work - we failed to this and we take full responsibility for this non-intentional omission. Sadly you did not contact us during your stay so we could make amends, but now you have brought the issue to our attention, a week later, with this and other reviews, we are grateful and of course in the process of giving you a full refund for your three night stay.

This was a revisit and enjoyed it just as much as the last visit. There is everything you could possibly need at hand in the flat. Only disappointment was not being informed about damp problem with one of the walls in one of the twin bedrooms. Once rectified will not put us off booking again. Loved our stay.

Great customer service, very responsive host. The accommodation has everything you need with additional touches such as tea bags, coffee, biscuits, toiletries and even a Christmas tree. The flat is modern, self-contained, tastefully decorated, has excellent use of space and has comfortable beds. Thankful to have spent a few days at Oakbank, relaxing with my husband and friends. This was our second visit and certainly won't be our last! Oakbank is a very comfortable apartment with good quality fixtures and fittings. I especially love the dining kitchen as it's a very sociable space to chat over a glass of wine whilst preparing dinner. Village has good eating out options too, though not good for the waistline! Can't wait to return!

As usual super and v well equipped flat.
The only issue was that we never managed to get the door entry to work first time ... this was frustrating especially as it was not the best of weather so standing around for 4 goes at it each time we came back was unpleasant.

The lock is a bit of a ‘diva’ and only responds to the lightest of touches..... a bit like the light tap you would use on your phone. Very annoying as you say when you are standing in the rain wanting to get in - please accept our apologies! We hope that despite this we will be able to welcome you back to Edzell once again.

The apartment was lovely. Home from home and a lot more! The village of Edzell is an ideal location to explore the Angus region and further afield with it’s close proximity to the A90. Closer to home I would recommend Edzell Castle, the ‘Blue Door river walk’ and the local eateries. I would definitely stay again if holidaying in the area.

This is the third time we have returned to Oakbank and once again it proved perfect for the needs of our group. The house is lovely and warm in a perfect position in Edzell and we are happy to report that even four people needing a shower after a hike through a downpour did not cause problems to the hot water system.
The kitchen is wonderful for a cook fest and has everything you could need.
We hope to be back next year.

As we were attending a golf comp at Edzell this was a fantastic place to stay. Only 6 minutes walk to the course. A few shops and eateries were all in close proximity. The property itself has everything you need and is spotless. A lovely welcome pack including oatcakes and jam were most welcome and a lovely touch. The kitchen is very well equipped and the beds were comfortable. This was definately a great find and I wouldnt hesitate to stay again.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while visiting family. We could entertain family, go to the park every day. Order meals from the Tuck Inn and Bell's Butcher. Enjoy the Shaki Brig, The Blue Door hike and more. Really spot on loc.

We stayed for a few days in this lovely house. It was very clean, comfortable and cosy. It was extremely well equipped with lots of thoughtful extras. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival. We truly felt at home. Edzell is a lovely village surrounded by beautiful countryside. Plenty of interesting places to visit nearby and brilliant area for walkers. Definitely must stay here!This is the nicest flat that I have ever stayed in. We were very comfortable there. It was sad to have to leave it because it felt like that is where I lived permanently. The proprietor was very helpful and answered any questions that I had quickly. When we first walked in we were in awe of the place. Accommodation is ideal and it was good to see the village of Edzell thrives as it did two years previously. We arrived without a car but local riverside and forest walks, all the shops you need, coffee shops, meals out in the village, Edzell Castle, and a reliable bus into Brechin meant we were not short of things to do, returning daily to the comfort of Oakbank to relax.

This is the second time we stayed in Oakbank and it was just as cosy and comfortable as last time. The flat is over the chippy and pharmacy in Edzell, just a few doors from the Panmure Arms and the Church.
It is warm (and refreshingly cool, during the really hot days during our stay), extremely well appointed and a real home from home. We stayed with 4 people, but the place is advertised for six and would house them easily. The downstairs has plenty of room for hiking gear to dry out, while the upstairs has a really large family kitchen and a large lounge, as well as three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Somehow, we didn't spend much time in the lounge, in between cooking and using the games provided in the kitchen, but the few time we spend time there we enjoyed the comfy seating and large TV.

I can only recommend the place and we hope to be back next year.

This has been our fourth stay at Oakbank. We love it there because it so comfortable. The location is central to all the places I want to visit in my quest for researching our Family Tree. It is also near my home town Montrose. There was a problem with the door lock this year. However it was soon sorted and a minor glitch. Local people were very helpful and the owner was contacted.
Lesson learned keep contact numbers and mobile in handbag!!!!

We found this place by accident during an earlier trip, and are glad we managed this year to get a week at the flat.
It is beautifully appointed (the kitchen fittings are a dream for hobby chefs) with lots of small and large creature comforts. The place is very sunny in good weather and comfortably warm on rainy days.
If there is one limitation it is that it is a flat above Edzell's shops. Not because of the shops, we can recommend the Tuck Inn and Sinclair's Larder for sandwiches, cake, ice cream and in the evening take away) and the pharmacy is really helpful, but - because of the staircase, that gives access to the flat. Please, don't bring somebody with leg problems here, they will not enjoy it half as much as the rest. For everybody able bodied, you are going to love it.

the start was problematic, . the central heating was out of order en therefore there was no hot water. after the weekend it was solved ,but the heating tubes in the bathroom stayed cold. so no dry towels.

Second visit to Oakbank which is a perfect location for us. Hopefully we will pay a third visit next year. The flat is well provided with amenities and the welcome pack was very good.
It is great that there is the little restaurant practically on the door step and the coffee shop at no 63 just across the road. What more could any one want. In fact there is everything by way of butchers and little shops.
It is a great location for visiting different places around the country too. We love being there.

It was lovely to arrive at Oakbank to find a welcome pack and friendly note from Diana. The flat was warm and comfortable - just right for arriving back after a winter's day out walking. It is very spacious and well equipped. Edzell is a friendly village with enough local amenities and good coffee shops and Brechin, which is not far away, is an interesting small town. We loved the apartment. We stayed there with our grown up kids to celebrate the 30th birthday of our son and do some sightseeing and whiskey tastings. We had a wonderful holiday weekend in Oakbank, couldn't have asked for a more comfortable, well equipped apartment. The only downside was the off street parking, it isn't really built for a people carrier and made for an interesting reverse out, my own fault probably for trying it in the first place. Would definitely recommend Oakbank to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of everything at Oakbank. We have stayed at a few places over the past few years and although we were always comfortable and had all we needed this was far and away the best. The local cafe and the restaurant just next door was an added bonus although my grandson loves to cook and so he was delighted to find every thing he needed in the kitchen at Oakbank. Granny didn't have to lift a finger!!!!
We would thoroughly recommend staying in this apartment and hope we might be able to do so again ourselves.

When we arrived we were amazed at how beautiful the house was - heaps better than the photos showed! It was warm, clean, quiet, and in a great location. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, lounge and bedrooms, and there was even a lovely welcome pack from the hosts. The village is a quiet one, but has the basics - it's an easy journey to nearby towns, and so close to the mountains and beautiful rivers & beaches.

We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to others.

We were attending a local wedding with our son, daughter-in-law and their newborn baby and were delighted that we opted to stay together at Oakbank which is centrally located in Edzell. The apartment was extremely well presented, well equipped and very comfortable and a credit to the owners!

Thank you for your kind words and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay! We have quite a few guests who attend weddings in the village. Oakbank is quite handy as it is in walking distance of both the hotels in the village which are very popular wedding venues. Even for weddings a bit further away such as at Burn House or Fasque House, it is just a short drive! We hope you will be back even without a big celebration.

Returned to Oakbank for a second time, not disappointed. Very comfortable accomodation with everything you could want. Great location in Edzell with a fish and chip shop and pub with great food within yards if you don't want to cook. Would definitely recommend and would certainly stay again.

We hope you had a great time fishing in the North Esk and that you will be able to return next year? The good news is that the Tuck Inn downstairs was up for sale, but the owner has bought out her partners, so we are delighted that it will remain the same and continue to serve excellent food! We are so lucky to have so many amenities in our small village.

Apartment came with a lovely welcome pack with locally sourced bread, milk, jams and cakes! Everything needed in comfortable, spotless and tastefully decorated apartment located in a very pretty village with cafe's, local shops, a pub and a football pitch for the boys!
