We loved this place. They have literally thought of everything we needed. It's hard to find a place of high standard to stay with dogs that have a hot tub. The lodge is beautiful and spacious in a perfect area. There is a gated decked area so we could let the dogs out without worrying that they was going to disappear. There are some great walks all round the lodge so again it was perfect for the dogs. We were given a lovely hamper with lots of treats, some handy basics like bread milk and eggs and even a bottle of wine, we wanted for nothing ! With all the stress of the coronavirus star...more
Lovely, cosy cottage in a peaceful and beautiful location. We would certainly consider returning: there's plenty to do in the area.
A comfortable and cosy cottage in lovely surroundings. Walks straight from the doorstep and in a great location for exploring South Suffolk.
Alexander House was just perfect. The quality of the bedding, towels, kitchen equipment was first class (except for the knives which were bent and blunt. We’ve learned over the years to take our own, we just forgot this time) I would recommend this house, especially for a large family group. We would definitely stay again
Our stay here was wonderful. My favourite thing about Higham Place Lodge is the feel of the space, it is so welcoming, light and cosy. The lounge is very comfortable and spacious and there are lots of good book to browse. We brought our two retrievers and it was lovely to be able to open the lounge doors and know they had a large secure garden to explore. It was also so lovely to be able to walk them off-lead just beyond our garden around the 15acre estate. So many good dog walks around the area too which we will have to come back and explore more! I could not fault our hosts who gave us space...more
We had a wonderful New Years break with close friends at the Old Post Office. The property is beautiful & intimate. Our toddler had a fantastic time exploring the house and all it’s charm and we loved relaxing by the fire and cooking together. Hosts were very helpful and welcoming. Fully recommend.
This was our second visit to No 22. The comfy sofas and fabulous log burner were a much needed treat. after long walks in the chilly weather. The beds & linen wonderful and the towels are so soft & fluffy everything is hotel standard. The cottage is tastefully furnished and the kitchen is brilliantly equipped. There is a sparkling clean bathroom with lashings of hot water and good pressure from the shower The property is very close to shops & the old railway line starts just round the corner, for a great walk to Thorpness. There is a pretty back garden with lovely seating and a sun ...more
This was our after Christmas long recovery weekend . Ideal little cottage for us and our dog Tilly. We know Suffolk well so an ideal location.
The Buttery was perfect for the short, away-from-it-all break I was looking for... and the views over fields and woods were wonderful. The cottage (one of three rental properties) is a great mix of clean modern design and rustic charm, and while it's set on a working farm, it's very quiet. I enjoyed my morning chats - tea in hand - with the cows in the paddock around the corner!
The cottage has everything you could ever possibly need for a break away. It’s well equipped. Lovely touches with a food hamper and bathrobes. Plenty of space and the old quaint feel of the cottage is ideal for a relaxing away from it all break.
Our stay at Lodge Farm was a great success Recommend as a place to stay - we were a party of 12 adults There was so much room , all bedrooms lovely, kitchen well equipped to cope with cooking for 12 adults Close to local pub and Suffolk food hall
Fun place for a night and enjoyed it. Booked at very short notice and very grateful for Suffolk Hideaways for fixing it up for me so quickly and efficiently. Alison, the host, was friendly and helpful. Quite expensive for what it was but, as above, fun for a change.
Cottage is lovely inside and out being very bright & sunny and in such a quiet location where all you can hear is birdsong whether you are sitting in the garden or walking the fields that surround the village. It’s also convenient to be such a short car journey to the sea. Will definitely be going to this holiday cottage again.
It was a very well appointed little house. The description of it when we booked was accurate and the arrival directions were good. It was a very good base for what we wanted to do in Suffolk which was visit the many churches used by our ancestors in the last three hundred years. The property was very quiet at night, although as we live in a detached house we did sometimes hear the neighbours, which we are not used to. I would not recommend this property for older people as there was not always parking nearby and the stairs were steep.
Renting a pace from the internet always carries some risk. Photos are cleverly shot and manipulated and sometimes provide an inaccurate idea of the internal and external space. Happily the Black Swan was as advertised. In an interesting area, plenty of walking opportunities, quiet without being deserted, very well and handsomely equipped house especially the kitchen. It was cold at night and the log burner worked perfectly. The outside space is attractive with plenty of life first thing in the morning in terms of rabbits, hares, muntjacs and birds. The bathrooms are excellent in size and qua...more
Very well equipped and attractive cottage which is a mixture of the quaint and the modern. The location of the property close to a bend in the road makes for a difficult exit from the forecourt. We had a pleasant stay and would recommend it.
We had a fabulous in in Aldeburgh .Accommodation was perfect in a lovely area .Beautiful clean coastline with lots of walking opportunities.
We had booked months before coronavirus hit the UK and this was the perfect place to hide away from it.
Excellent stay with a wonderful view near Aldeburgh. Clean, quiet, with a friendly owner on hand. Felt like home from home. Thank you for the cake, biscuits and starter pack. Right next door to the sailors walk to Snape which was an additional bonus.
The Lodge is a spacious, clean, warm and well equipped holiday cottage. We had a lovely few days and would have loved to have sat outside on the decking had it not been for the inclement weather. But it was still nice to watch the horses from inside. Stupidly left a hat behind which was not easy to post, but Mary kindly dealt with it, and was returned well packaged. Thank you.
Lovely home with everything you could need and more. There was nothing to find fault with and would love to stay again.
We had a lovely stay in Aldeburgh at this property. It was fantastically located to be able to pop in and out and nice and quiet in the evenings. The property looked exactly as advertised and had everything we needed. The beds were super comfy, nice bathroom with good shower and we’ll equipped kitchen. The option to park behind the house was very handy once I refined my parking technique as it is quite tight! We had a lovely break with our two young boys and would happily come back again soon. Thank you
Excellent location a few minutes' walk from the high street and beach. Comfortable, spacious and clean. A great base to enjoy Aldeburgh.
We stayed for a family wedding. Arrived late in evening to a wonderful welcome basket full of local treats. The house and beds were extremely comfortable. Very much appreciated the second large family fridge! We had a really lovely time there and would definitely return. Thank you, it was a lovely peaceful and delightful spot.
We spent 10 days at the Old Rectory. The house is comfortable, homely and well equipped for a longer stay with nice walks and enough board games and smart tv to keep us entertained if it rained. The kitchen had everything we needed and strong WiFi meant we were able to get work done whilst we were staying.
A well earned break just lovey will definitely like to go back and owner so very nice and helpful all round fab Thanks
This was our second stay at Marsh Lodge (River View last time on our own - this time we were in Marsh View and our friends were in River View). It is an excellent place to stay, both in terms of position and comfort.
As first impressions are always important, on arrival we were pleased and relieved to see that the cottage looked well cared for. The garden had been well tended and the grass had recently been cut. It is in a quiet location with the sound of birdsong in the hedgerows. When we entered everything looked very clean and hence our Covid fears were allayed and we soon made ourselves at home. The linen on the beds were crisp and clean which is so important when you are staying away. The cottage was well equipped with most items that you would require. If four adults were sharing, the downstairs...more
A fab little find, 30 seconds from main street. That said very quiet and peaceful. A cosy well equipped cottage that would suits all, small family or a couple of adults. Great places to eat and the beach is beautiful. We had my 18 month old grandaughter with us who had whale of a time, the owners were also very good and replaced a high chair at very short notice for us. Definately will be returning 10/10 from these happy holidayers!
25 Park Road is an attractive and comfortable cottage perfectly located a five minute walk from the beach, shops and restaurants in Aldeburgh. We appreciated the parking space and made good use of the table and chairs in the well screened front garden. The beds were comfortable, the shower effective and the kitchen extremely well equipped. If you are, like us, shorter and older, you might want to take your own cushions to make the very deep sofas suit you better.
Perfect cottage with all the mod-cons and large grounds for walkies. only a minor issue with previous customers dog poop in garden (6 poop bags ;) Would defo use cottage again.
Picture postcard cottage in a very rural setting. Access to bedrooms is typically tricky for old cottages but it does warn you of that. Has a shower room but very cramped, but the upstairs bath would take a very long time to fill! Great location with a dog.
We had a wonderful stay at Rose Barn this winter. It was warm and cosy, specially with the wood burner on! It is well equipped, clean and welcoming, and had everything we needed. Our hosts were helpful and communicative. Would definitely recommend! We would love to be back in the summer when the pool is open.
We really enjoyed the barn, it was cosy, relaxing, and we were surrounded by nature. I will be going back again!
There were four adults plus baby. The weather was unseasonably cold so we were grateful for the wood burner. It was good we had young family with us as it was necessary to reprogram the central heating - something we may not have managed on our own! We had a few issues - probably due to the extreme weather conditions - but they were attended to promptly by the owners. Pity we were told there was no high chair when there was one - meant we carried unnecessary kit with us!! Cottage well equipped but we could have done with full sets of glasses (it was odd drinking breakfast juice from a brandy g...more
We stayed here over Christmas with our 4 children and dog. We had a very enjoyable time. It is a beautiful property with a well equip kitchen. Towels and toiletries were all provided. The location is beautiful set in the suffolk countryside and approximately 30 minutes from Colchester which we visited a few times.
Super location, lovely little village with very friendly people in stunning countryside. The pull out kitchen worked well, the only thing is that we would normally get two bedrooms at this price, other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the owners were delightful.
Lovely clean house with good quality equipment/linen etc. Private entrance and large attractive garden. Beds were excellent and super comfortable but armchairs in garden room and lounge not very comfortable. Very generous 'welcome' food/drink supplied which was unexpected and appreciated.
Lovely clean and atmospheric cottage but very remote. Car essential. Suit friends looking for plenty of space for a long weekend away
Lovely property with the most amazing views from the kitchen/diner/lounge. Tranquil and relaxing, away from it all - a very pleasant stay, and the agent was most helpful too.
Good value for money with a nice sitting out area and located close to the coast. Attendance to the detail of cleaning would improve matters, it is a galley kitchen and has no freezer. Parking is tricky and depends upon the neighbours having no car. A very comfortable cottage, lots of heating with a good bathroom and retained features of its age.
The Gildhall is well located in a quiet rural hamlet and the house was warm and comfortable for our party of three adults. It's a great base for exploring the area but be aware there are no shops or pubs in close walking distance. The Farm shop at nearby Dedham stocks a great range of items and the welcome hamper left on the kitchen table was much appreciated. The kitchen was beautifully warm with a roaring Aga and the central heating kept the sitting room, dining room and bedrooms cosy. This was important, as we were advised a few days before arrival that the open fires can no longer ...more
My stay at the woodland retreat lodge was very nice and was good to have a short brake away from reality. The pubs served amazing food but if you plan on cooking maybe just small easy meals as it is not a proper oven and hob. The place was very cozy with amazing views and lots to do round there. However if you use you’re phone a lot then just have data as there was very weak or no WiFi which we wasn't fussed by, other than that we had an amazing brake away and would definitely recommend.
Beautiful views and an interesting conversion of old farm buildings. The play room with table tennis was great especially for children but the advertised snooker was very poor and no useful cues. We were lucky to have no one staying in the adjoining properties as this liberated more play space. The greatest surprise was having an open plan lavatory and bath in the master bed room. This would have been so easily walled off during the conversion rather than just a wooden shelf as partial barrier. This also meant there was no wardrobe or cupboard for clothes in that bedroom. The lounge, kitchen a...more
