Really lovely accommodation. Very comfortable and spacious for two and your four legged family members. Fantastic powerful shower and fluffy towels. Comfortable sofa and large dining area. Extremely clean and well cared for. There is no washing machine, but who wants to really do washing whilst your on holiday! We would definitely recommend.
The best little getaway you could ask for, perfect scenery and perfect location! So close to lots of beaches and a place to go if you’re looking for a quiet chilled break! Could not recommend this place enough!
Lovely cottage near the centre of the village. Very well renovated and decorated, very comfortable. Helpful owner and neighbour gave us plenty of advice on things to see and do. Would visit again!
My 2nd visit this year. The Christmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch. Welcome hamper wonderful and well thought out. Hot tub clean and easy to use. Lovely location plenty of great walks, good information pack advising places to visit. Lodge is stylish, spacious and modern. Beds comfortable, linen good quality and dressing gown and slippers nice touch. Couldn't recommend these Lodges enough.
Peace and quiet in a beautiful setting with lots of interesting places to visit nearby. A very enjoyable week.
Lovely time away with our doggy’s, beautiful views and lodge, very secluded location so make sure to take enough to eat and drink with you! The hot tub was amazing! Pub was about a half hour walk away with okay food. We were just happy to enjoy the time off in a beautiful setting. Couldn’t recommend the lodge enough it was lovely and clean, with a welcome hamper being a thoughtful touch hoping to be back in the summer!
Near town Bungay is lovely but seems to be a victim of the times......Covid virus closed down places. We struggled to get a decent restaurant and drove around the area looking for pubs with decent food. A local man told us the place had been taken over by second homers from London and then abandoned post season. The local shop at Broome was handy and close by. Lucy kindle gave us a goodbye splendid display of flowers (which I am sat in front of as I write.
We had a wonderful New Years break with close friends at the Old Post Office. The property is beautiful & intimate. Our toddler had a fantastic time exploring the house and all it’s charm and we loved relaxing by the fire and cooking together. Hosts were very helpful and welcoming. Fully recommend.
Shellseekers was a lovely house for our well earned break. Everything we could have wanted was there. I have been inspired by the wall art to recreate this in my own home. It was great to be in walking distance of the shops, restaurants and beach. The town was very quiet when walking out at night to eat and many of the restaurants shut early. We didn't venture far as we were content to stay in eat, chill & watch TV.
We were lucky enough to stay at Brook Lodge over the beautifully sunny bank holiday weekend/half term and the setting, facilities and lodge were all absolutely beautiful. Complete tranquility and everything you could possibly need for a really relaxing stay. Cleanliness was generally excellent, but there were some dog hairs left on the tops/backs of the sofas from previous guests and a slight odour, which we quickly resolved ourselves and really didn’t effect our stay at all. We would definitely recommend and come back.
We have just returned from a fantastic 1 week stay in Honeypot cottage. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. It is at the end of a country road so the only noise is from birds and the occasional tractor and the views from the front accross to the river are wonderful. It is in a great location for exploring that part of Suffolk. We can highly recommend the walk from the cottage to Felixstowe Ferry, if you want to go further you can carry on to Old Felixstowe and then to Felixstowe itself. I would not hestitate it recommending this delightful cottage!
This was a short notice break to add to a week in Norfolk. It didn't disappoint. Very comfortable and warm cottage that was ideally placed for us to explore Suffolk. I would recommend this as an excellent area if you do not know Suffolk well. The cottage was very well appointed and had everything we needed including 2 playful squirrels who visited us most days in the rear garden. Thank you for making this a cottage we would love to return to in the future.
A very enjoyable and relaxing week in the smallest market town in Suffolk. The cottage was delightful with beautiful views across the large back garden. No parking on site but we were always lucky to find roadside parking along by the cottage. Pubs and takeaways are within walking distance and there are plenty of local walks. After the first day you become familiar with the chimes from the Church clock and although the cottage is on the main road through the town, any traffic noise was not a problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be more than happy to return.
Would book again lovely walks log fire was great need a car to get to the shops and maybe a washing machine
Great location, lots to see in Lavenham. Excellent restaurants and pubs. Accommodation delightful, loads of character but yet very comfortable and interior bang up do date with all mod cons.
The Granary was a beautiful place from which to explore the Suffolk coast. It was comfortable, very clean and provided everything that we needed. We really enjoyed our stay.
Our stay at Lodge Farm was a great success Recommend as a place to stay - we were a party of 12 adults There was so much room , all bedrooms lovely, kitchen well equipped to cope with cooking for 12 adults Close to local pub and Suffolk food hall
This is an absolutely delightful Shepherds in the Woodlands, it has everything you need towels, bedding, soaps, shampoo etc, you just need your clothes that's all. There was a few extra items, milk, bacon, bread marmalade which was a lovely touch and very handy for the first night. Would definitely recommend to others, we stayed at the end of October so was a bit chilly, however didnt spoil our stay, would like to come back in the summer so we can sit outside on the decking.
Had such a good stay cottage had everything you could need welcome hamper was a lovely surprise pub was great friendly as were the locals food was very good weather was a bit wet and windy must return in the summer
The lodges at Kingfishers are beautiful and the location is incredibly tranquil. The only thing that slightly marred our stay was initial disputes with 2 members of staff. Thankfully the issues were resolved and it became clear that the few staff were under massive pressure due to shortages. It was disappointing that, during our stay, the boating lake, cafe and treatment rooms were not open (despite it stating on the website that they would be). Again, we understand that this was down to staff shortages, but this perhaps should be reflected in the advertising to ensure people are not expecti...more
The whole group enjoyed our stay in this amazing property in a beautifully restful location. The facilities within the property were exceptional.
We chose Little Tay Barn to provide our family of 6 (with provision for 8) with a very well earned break. We just wanted some space and solitude in an isolated, green setting. We were not disappointed. The property is large and very well equipped. I would compare it to a luxury hotel. Very clean with large rooms, kitchen and seating areas. We had a BBQ with the supplied equipment and just spread ourselves and relaxed. Andy and Jane were very welcoming and showed us around on our arrival. On a couple of occasions we needed help (on how to use the TV and showers) and called them. They were insta...more
Cartgate Lodge is ideal for a couple, well equipped and comfortable and just five minutes walk from the river where a footpath leads to Snape Maltings - a lovely forty five minute walk (includes paddling at high tide!). Our two favourite places were Aldeburgh and Orford and Cartgate was half way between the two. As well as the river walk there were plenty of footpaths along the quiet lanes and up tracks. The accommodation was light and airy and the owners were friendly and helpful. It was a joy sitting in their front garden with a friendly cat for company. The bed was extremely comfortabl...more
A cosy, well equipped tastefully furnished apartment with lovely views to the River Alde. Highly recommended.
Friston is a great location for a holiday exploring the Suffolk coast. Myrtle Cottage is well equipped, with everything needed to feel right at home.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment. Clean, comfy and well equipped, there was nothing we were left wanting. The location was perfect and views incredible. Loved every minute of our stay and enjoyed the welcome gifts on arrival.
We stayed in The School Room for the first time this summer and enjoyed it so much that we decided to pay another visit in the autumn. Frankie and David are very welcoming hosts and by coming back to Suffolk, we were able to discover even more of what this lovely area has to offer. Highly recommended.
The slightly shabby lounge furniture reflects our score (had been previously note in Guest book in July). Also 2 items of rubbish in lounge area ( ball under writing table & empty crisp wrapper under cushion).
The Granary is warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean, we enjoyed our stay very much as we love this part of Suffolk. It is a bit out of the way, which made it very peaceful but it was a good 40 minutes ot the coast and a short car trip to any shops or facilities other than the village pub. A couple of significant negatives though - five adults would struggle to stay here - one settee, one armchair and two pouffes in a small sitting area would not be very comfortable for five, and the only bathroom is accessed via the two double bedrooms so you'd all need to be on very good terms to share. Th...more
We spent a lovely weekend at Marsh View, it’s a wonderful, dog friendly property. A rare find when looking for dog friendly stays. The decor and furnishings are high quality and the apartment is well appointed, including everything required if wanting to cook. It provided us with a luxurious, quiet get away in a beautiful setting. The views across the river and marshes from the rear of the property are beautiful and the Sailors Path is practically on the door step. Sadly it’s not possible to access the court yard or gardens at the rear of the property to make the most of the views. The heatin...more
Fabulous cosy cottage set in the most perfect setting especially if you like walking. We met the estate manager Chris very friendly nothing we to much trouble. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise. We both would highly recommend this lovely cottage in the heart of Higham.
We really enjoyed staying at Hideaway Cottage. It was tastefully furnished, the kitchen was very well equipped. The wood burner stove was very efficient and gave a wonderful heat. The cottage is conveniently located 5 min walk to the town centre and the coop supermarket. Ideal to visit Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, etc.
This is the second time we have stayed at this property and absolutely love it. The location is really good with good on site amenities. We would not hesitate to stay at the property again.
House not quite big enough for 7 people. Better for 4 or maybe 5. Kitchen and dining area super. Sitting area small for 7 people. Porch very handy.
The Lodge is a comfortable place in which to stay and the park is a pleasant place to stroll in. The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, the beds are comfortable and there is plenty of space in which to relax. However, we did have some difficulties with my disabled father’s use of the building, the door sills making it less than ideal for wheelchairs and the en suite shower being impossible for him to use, because of the step to get into it and the lack of any grab rail. This spoiled his enjoyment of our stay. i could not recommend the Lodge to another disabled person, which is why I ...more
This house is tucked away at the end of a lane (no through road) with only dog walkers passing by, so nice and quiet. The pub is a stroll away and the beach an easy walk. There is a gate through to the golf course but I'm not sure if this to be used. Super large family room / kitchen, comfy seating (plenty of it) light and airy house. Off road parking Sadly we experienced a heating problem when we visited but Suffolk Hideaways were quick to try to sort it out.
We had a lovely stay, and especially enjoyed sitting out in the garden -extremely comfortable chairs around the table under the overhang! The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, with lots of space. Westleton is a pretty village, and within easy reach of the coast, Dunwich Heath, Southwold and Aldeburgh, so it's a great centre if you want to tour round. One concern was the bath, which we found to be very slippery, which could be potentially dangerous. We've taken off a mark for cleanliness because the cleaners had left behind a half-eaten pie; this was surely an oversight, given the oth...more
A lovely little quirky cottage in the heart of Lavenham. We had a fabulous stay here for 4 nights. The cottage was well equipped and very clean (Spotless)
We had a wonderful stay at the Cow Shed. Gorgeous welcome pack of chilled Prosecco, crisps and chocolate excellent start to our stay. The October weather was sunny but we still made sure the woodburner was lit at night! Great base for visiting the coast and exploring the Suffolk villages. Our hosts Matt and Backy were lovely and we cannot wait to return.
Excellent location just a short walk to the main street & beachfront. Very spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable property & well equipped. Worked perfectly for our group of 4 friends.
We were delighted with this very quaint little cottage. It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We parked the car on Saturday and there it stayed for the week, as we found so much to do around us. Lovely walks, high street shops, pubs and restaurants. Rest assured we will be back.
Lovely home with everything you could need and more. There was nothing to find fault with and would love to stay again.
A delightful cottage, location good Wonderful village pub. We were just so upset to find dirty floors and kitchen appliances were not clean. Very disappointing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very clean and warm. The location was perfect, with plenty of walks from the door and beach was a few minutes drive away. Highly recommend this cottage for its quiet location and proximity to local attractions.
We loved the accommodation. Only major disappointment was that the local pub was totally booked for meals and not serving drinks to customers who werent dining.
We enjoyed our stay at High House immensely. A very well equipped house that had all we wanted. It’s situated near to Southwold and not too far for beach walks.
The accommodation was lovely, staff were extremely friendly. Unfortunately the boating lake was shut for our entire stay due to a lack of staff but it didn’t spoil our time.
Very clean and comfortable cottage with lovely garden. Shame about proximity to busy road. (Not mentioned in cottage details) Cottage cold on arrival as all heating turned off! No explanation as to operation of heating system - very poor. Expect better for rent charged.
We had a great time but we were disappointed with the cleaning there was a dirty bath towel hanging on the door of the front bedroom door. There was a glass full of water left on the shelf in the back bedroom neither of the bedroom bins had been emptied there was no mattress proctor on the front bedroom bed.I know this is not your fault but what really upset us when we came out of the back door there was left 2 bags of dog poo.Like I said I know that’s it’s not your fault but maybe people should be told to clear up after there dogs.
It’s great to stay in a holiday rental where the environment has been cared for. Clean, well decorated, nice linen and of course the river views.
Nice barn great location . .lovely out door pool .very spacious .very helpful friendly owners.weather just could of been better .
The property was basic, not luxury as advertised. There was no dishwasher (as advertised) two chairs fell apart (but were instantly replaced). There was no instant heating and the Under Floor heating and towel rail did not work or were turn off away from the property, (it was the last full week of May & was very cold). There was also excessive noise from the adjacent occupied property. I understand that all three let’s can be converted into one holiday let but when our “neighbours “ had a parting till 1 in the morning they may as well have been in our property. The stairs from lounge to...more
Thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing 6 night stay in Laurel, Kingfishers. The cabin was immaculate & beautifully appointed - down to the artwork on the walls! Our daughter came to visit every day with her dog and he fitted in well too - plenty of walks to be had on site. We also appreciated the Friday pizza night - a nice touch. On a practical level, I would have liked more crockery and a change of towels but other than that I would highly recommend.
Very nice and quiet. Was clean and tidy, garden was lovely in the sun playing with the kids. Had a nice hamper pack when turned up. Very good sized house only snag was the beds were a bit noisy every time you move and a bit uncomfortable but not bad enough to complain.
We were very comfortable at The Old Rectory. Suffolk Hideaways were extremely helpful agents too. The house is full of character. Lovely decor, garden pretty with table seating in the garden and in the nearby field to catch the sun at the end of the day. With a sitting room and study, there were plenty of areas to relax and get away from family/fellow guests! Beds very comfortable. Whilst the kitchen is a little 'tired', the appliances all worked well and we were very satisfied all round. We weren't looking for plush. The house is well situated for access to Southwold and Aldeburgh. We wou...more
Very spacious, but only found the freezer as we were leaving. Kitchen needing an update.eg especially the cooker. Bath very narrow.
The accommodation was clean, warm and comfortable downstairs. A very comfortable sofa. Upstairs a very comfortable bed. However there were soon issues. The upstairs bedroom restrictive in terms of high not just for tall people but also average height and maybe smaller. One had to manoeuvre oneself around the bed bent at the neck! There was ample space to build the kitchen to include a dish washer and cupboard space for ones provisions for self catering, but this hadn’t been done. Also cutlery and crockery was limited so one had to do a lot of washing up of dishes. No cafeteria provided in the...more
The mill was delightful and presented beautifully in a rural relaxing location… we walked our dog around various footpaths and explored local villages with Tudor buildings in abundance. Check in was problem free and a bottle of wine/ crisps were waiting … we did have to wash up as glasses had lipstick marks on , stained coffee/ tea mugs and plates greasy finger prints from previous occupants… not pleasant and should’ve been checked by housekeeper (although not nice for people to leave crockery / glasses like this.) We enjoyed the stay here and found 3 days plenty of time to explore locally. ...more
We booked the two barns for a family Christmas all together, and for a large group of people the choice of Rose and Court Barns couldn't have been better. There was plenty of space so there was always a 'quiet corner' that you could escape to if you wanted. We loved the cosiness of the open fires and it was always warm and inviting. Visiting in the summer you would have the benefit of the swimming pool and the tennis court as well, and surrounded by beautiful countryside the location is fabulous. A couple of small points, which can be easily rectified and would have improved our stay were:...more
Lovely and cosy barn. Everything you would need. Lovely big fire & cosy sofas for chilling with friends. Thoughtful touches of games and books. Lovely walks in the country
We chose the Cartlodge because of its nearness to other family members in East Bergholt, and were delighted with its outside appearance, the use of the park grounds, and spaciousness and comfort inside. It was unfortunate that once indoors we found the decor and some of the furniture a bit tatty, and a large number of small but not trivial things were damaged or broken or missing, including broken bath plugs, toilet flush, the wall decorations in the main bedroom (torn and badly stained), two lampshades, keys/locks for the bathroom doors, stained and ill-fitting lino, and in the kitchen the l...more
Was really looking forward to this Christmas break, on arrival we were somewhat taken aback at the entrance to the property greeted by a broken down farm building. The promised Christmas decorations was just a tree, in the write up it promised sufficient supplies would be available, nothing not even a pint of milk. Such a disappointing start which soured our stay and left after 2 nights.
Fabulous little place to stay, nice & peaceful & not far from where we wanted to visit. The owner left us a little welcome package of bacon, eggs, bread, butter, marmalade, orange juice, tea, coffee, sugar & milk which was great.
Property is beautifully equipped and presented. The kitchen in particular had everything you would hope for. Comfortable seating in lounge and good lighting. Spotlessly clean. Location is very quiet even though it is on a working farm. Well placed for access to Suffolk and Essex. Would be really helpful to receive an inventory as lots of items I took with me were provided (hairdryers, tea towels) and the provision of eggs, bread and milk was wonderful - but I had taken them as I didn't know they would be left for us!
The property is well located with dedicated parking and was ideal for two adults for our one week stay with an additional two guests for two nights. We all slept very well in the comfortable beds. The property is furnished to a good standard with beautiful artistic touches from the owners. The bathroom could be improved by the installation of a more powerful shower and the downstairs loo when completed will be a welcome addition. There is plenty of wardrobe space in the two double bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped if you wish to cook but there are excellent places to eat out in Orf...more
Good location for me and very quiet. Bed comfortable. However, I found the furniture and furnishings very odd and ugly. It was cold in the mornings but the heating didn't come on. (This is presumably why they provided two fan heaters.) The towel rail in the bathroom didn't work and the control panel for the sound system didn't work either. (All reported to staff.) Equipment in the kitchen is limited and no point in using the dish washer as there was only two of most things so would have had to run it every day, which would be a waste of water and energy. Expresso coffee machine provided but no...more
Beautifully restored, lovely old building, in an excellent location. Very generous welcome hamper. Just a couple of housekeeping issues. One of the lamps in the dining room had no bulb. Small problem, but it's not a cheap rental... The Saniflo toilet in the ensuite is exceptionally noisy. This has been much commented on in reviews, and the response seems to be that is just how they are. This one makes noises in the middle of the night, when no-one has been near it for hours. I don't think that's right, it's not the first one I've experienced, and I think it needs replacing or servicing...more
The house is in an excellent location, being only minutes from the A12, which put us in easy reach of all the destinations we wanted on this stretch of coast. There was parking for two right outside the front door during our stay, but the security of a space to the rear had it been busy. The house was really well equipped, particularly with basic supplies, kitchen equipment, and plenty of space and hangers to unpack. We didn’t use the garden but it would be a lovely space in warmer weather. There were also nice little touches for our week like a few Halloween decorations. Our only suggestions ...more
Although tired in places with decor and furnishings this lovely cottage was full of character. The gardens were really well kept and added a real bonus to the property especially having dogs as the gardens extremely secure. Use of the parkland and walks around the surrounding area were much appreciated . The Aga takes a bit of getting use to but the cook book available was a real bonus to any Aga novice. We had a problem with the dishwasher but once made aware it was sorted straight away and Chris couldn’t of been more helpful. A lovely stay .
Plenty of space for a large family gathering. Lovely building, grounds, very comfortable furnishings, beds etc. You will have space to spread out – but also the main rooms are big enough for everyone to get together; and to all eat at one table in the kitchen. A couple of small points for improvement, but they are minor and didn't really detract from our enjoyment of our stay: lighting was a bit dim in the lounge next to the kitchen - not enough light to read by. And the kitchen could do with a larger oven and a few more pots and pans. A single oven isn't really enough when you are trying to ...more
A charming little cottage with lots of memorabilia to enjoy. Fantastic position for lots to see and do in all directions. (Chilly bathroom which can be fixed with a heated towel rail?)
Enjoyed our stay but visitors ought to be warned stairs are very steep and tall people will have to be careful upstairs. Good Sept weather was a bonus.
THIS PROPERTY WAS FAR BELOW STANDARD CLEANLINESS. WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD UNDERGO A DEEP CLEAN BETWEEN VISITORS DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC. THE MAIN BATHROOM FLOOR HAD A LOT OF HAIRS TOGETHER WITH TOENAIL CLIPPINGS ON IT. THE SINKS [TWO] IN THE KITCHEN HAD FOOD AND HAIR IN THE PLUG HOLES. THE KITCHEN FLOOR HAD GREASE AROUND THE EDGES OF THE UNITS. THE FRIDGE WAS NOT CLEAN. THE SHOWER TRAP WAS FILTHY WHICH WAS DEFINATELY A HEALTH HAZZARD. THERE WERE COBWEBS IN CORNERS WHICH HAD A BEEN OVERLOOKED. THE OUTSIDE AREA NEEDED SWEEPING AND THE GRASS CUTTING. THE GARDEN LOOKED OVERGROWN. ON B...more
Beautiful views and an interesting conversion of old farm buildings. The play room with table tennis was great especially for children but the advertised snooker was very poor and no useful cues. We were lucky to have no one staying in the adjoining properties as this liberated more play space. The greatest surprise was having an open plan lavatory and bath in the master bed room. This would have been so easily walled off during the conversion rather than just a wooden shelf as partial barrier. This also meant there was no wardrobe or cupboard for clothes in that bedroom. The lounge, kitchen a...more
