We know the area well but this location was new to us, a very good find. There were 4 of us, oldest 90 youngest 1.5 and it just worked. Very friendly and helpful owners. If you want peace and quiet in a timber framed cottage this little gem may be for you, we loved it.
Having walked through Friston a few times it was good to be able to actually stay there in Briar Cottage. The cottage is presented in an attractive style with good quality furniture and fittings and thoughtful finishing touches. Everywhere was spotless and the owner Helen was delightful when arranging entry. She kindly let us park our second car on her driveway that is only a couple of houses away. We were greeted with some beautiful spring flowers and a nice bottle of Italian red wine, with milk for a cup of tea. The garden is in a very pretty style and is set off the spacious dining kitche...more
A comfortable and cosy cottage in lovely surroundings. Walks straight from the doorstep and in a great location for exploring South Suffolk.
We have an ideal stay, the attention detail in the scrumpy shepherd was amazing. We had a wonderful welcome. The weather was brilliant although a little bit warm for moving around but with the orchard to sit out in the evenings this added to the holiday. Plenty to see in the surrounding area. Certainly worth a visit.
idyllic! well supplied with everything needed including welcome pack of tea milk etc Only issue local Pub closed Mon and Tuesdays! Host was easy to communicate with
We loved using Flint Cottage as our base to explore the delights of the Suffolk coast and countryside. The village of Wenhaston is delightful and dog friendly with 2 excellent pubs close by and great walks on the doorstep. The Cottage is warm and cozy, whatever the weather, with a lovely garden for eating meals outdoors while listening to the birdsong. The kitchen is very well equipped, including a recipe book written by the owner to inspire you. We all loved it!
We booked the old foundry for a couple of reasons 1) not far from Ipswich 2)Ideal for our grandson as all on one level throughout . Upon arrival the layout did not disappoint, as described in the brochure and on line. The property is well appointed and there is plenty of space for a family of four plus one grandson. The ample enclosed garden is very restful with sun visiting the balcony and garden throughout the day.Access to the property is easy ,especially with the aid of sat nav. Quite an easy journey to/from Ipswich . The whole family enjoyed staying at the old foundry, could not fault any...more
The Buttery was perfect for the short, away-from-it-all break I was looking for... and the views over fields and woods were wonderful. The cottage (one of three rental properties) is a great mix of clean modern design and rustic charm, and while it's set on a working farm, it's very quiet. I enjoyed my morning chats - tea in hand - with the cows in the paddock around the corner!
Fab cottage! Very comfortable beds and very well equipped! Especially good location and really enjoyed my stay.
A delightful cottage close to all the main attractions. It was great to find milk, tea, coffee and cleaning supplies. The property has a stair gate to keep the dog downstairs which is a great touch as we forgot to bring our travel one! The cottage felt like a home away from home.
We stayed for a week at Thatchers Cottage and it was amazing. The cottage is well appointed and beautifully looked after by its owner in a lovely village.
A very well equipped cottage, with everything we needed. Good location for exploring Suffolk. Open fire was lovely and a great comfy super king bed. Garden well designed. Parking was a little difficult, but we managed to find a spot. Heating was efficient if a little difficult to master. Toiletries a nice touch . We really enjoyed our stay and would return
We normally spend July in the Algarve, but this year opted to stay in the UK and set our sights on Suffolk. We wanted wilderness and we got it at The Wilderness plus a few extras like tennis, a chef and a large screen TV absolutely essential for the World Cup. Not sure if our dog enjoyed it more than we did, but it definitely provided the tranquility, space and landscape we were looking for. The on-site team were welcoming and responsive and should be commended for providing a top notch service in an incredible setting.
Excellent property which fabulous views. High quality property with lovely furnishings and well equipped kitchen. Highly recommended.
Very comfortable and stylish accommodation, beautifully appointed and comprehensively equipped. Very thoutful welcome supplies if you’re arriving late - plenty for supper and breakfast.
Garden Cottage is beautiful, it has everything you could wish for to make your stay special. There were so many special touches, we particularly loved the BBQ and the fact that there was a large utensil set for BBQ cooking. The grounds were amazing, with bikes and rowing boats on the lake. Nothing was too much trouble and when my son texted Honor to ask if there was a football one was brought up to the cottage immediately. We cannot recommend the Wilderness Retreat enough and really hope to go back again very soon. It was total escapism from the every day grind back home and we all felt so...more
We absoltutly loved our stay at the listening station, best place we have been. Ideal for walks on the quiet beach and a stones throw from southwold. The lodge was perfect! Everything has been thought of and love all the modern tech, pristine beds and towels. Toiletries were supplied, tea, coffee milk and wine also. Amazing to wake up to a sea view and the sound of the waves. We would love to return. Many thanks x
The visit to Riverview was all we expected, comfortable, well equipped and peaceful. The view from the first floor bedroom was a delight. Our only criticism was that one of the previous clients had left a very dirty dinner plate that wouldn’t have been obvious to the housekeeper as it wasn’t on top, also a dirty chopping board. That aside we had a lovely time and would highly recommend the property.
A lovely home away from home. A real treat to be able to take all 5 children for a day at the seaside without having to drive home the same evening. Just at the upper limit of affordability for us. Well stocked home with everything you need for cooking, relaxing, playing games and enjoying each other’s company. Two of our family enjoyed being able to take a quick dip in the November sea and come straight back to nice hot showers!
Overall good accommodation a few niggles creaky noisy boards on landing upstairs uncomfortable settees not practical cream in colour, poor drainage in kitchen sink, and slightly uncomfortable beds. Good location and parking was a bonus. On the plus side plenty of hot water and good heating which is one of the most important things on holiday and very clean so you can manage the niggles.
Lovely quiet apartment at the start of the Sailors trail to Snape Maltings. Beautifully appointed and well equipped. Wine, milk and and snacks on arrival which was a lovely welcoming touch. Perfect location for us as we could walk from the apartment and were happy to take the car further afield but may not suit those who want to be very close to amenities. Outside space is the only negative. It would have been super to have been able to sit outside and have the same views as those from inside the property.
I booked both The Watch House and Listening Hut for a surprise family 50th birthday weekend. The accommodation was perfect for what we wanted. The sea views are amazing, ten minutes walk to the beach and fifteen to Southwold pier. Many of the party said it was the best weekend away they had ever had. I highly recommend this venue.
This was a fantastic rental property for a large family celebration. It was comfortable and beautifully presented. We loved the outside shelter. Perfect location for the beach and amenities. We would highly recommend staying here!
The Lodge is a spacious, clean, warm and well equipped holiday cottage. We had a lovely few days and would have loved to have sat outside on the decking had it not been for the inclement weather. But it was still nice to watch the horses from inside. Stupidly left a hat behind which was not easy to post, but Mary kindly dealt with it, and was returned well packaged. Thank you.
We stayed as a couple so there was plenty of room and even a TV each and a spare. Well equipped kitchen and for us the essential walk in shower . Two minor draw backs the sofas were built for those people who are 6 feet or taller and the provision of extra cushions would have been nice. We had atrocious weather so that one evening the rear patio started to flood as the drain had been blocked by all the debris from the overhanging tree. However, nothing scared us that much and we have booked again for next year.
Our stay in The Old Rectory was most enjoyable and a lovely house to have a quiet holiday in, which is what we wanted. It’s so nice to have a kitchen that is missing nothing, which ensures hassle free catering; that is most welcome! The house and gardens are simply lovely, with many rooms and spaces to enjoy each day, including the early morning chorus of birds! Depending on the time of year, the living room log burner ensured cozy evenings in front of the TV, or just enjoying the peaceful crackle. Will definitely stay again!
The cottage is full of character and history, is well equipped, comfortable and warm and would be happy to return.
Super location, lovely little village with very friendly people in stunning countryside. The pull out kitchen worked well, the only thing is that we would normally get two bedrooms at this price, other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the owners were delightful.
Lovely location. Rather strange with open mezzanine bedrooms. Quirky. Well appointed in the main living area. The company should seriously consider providing a good food welcome pack which is pretty standard with other cottage rental firms. The kitchen and bedrooms are looking a little faded. The bedroom window had a large cracked pane. The owners were very welcoming.
wonderful location however 1) would have expected change of bedding with a two week stay. 2)a basic welcome pack would have been appreciated I.e. milk, bread, coffee. 3)shower was pretty pathetic. For the money would have expected a power shower. In spite of this a thoroughly enjoyable stay and highly recommended.
the kitchen was very draughty as there was a gap in the door. the 3 of us that stayed prefer a bath rather than showers but that is just our preference
Lovely property with the most amazing views from the kitchen/diner/lounge. Tranquil and relaxing, away from it all - a very pleasant stay, and the agent was most helpful too.
We loved our stay here, gloriously peaceful, lovely views and enjoyed visiting Buzzards in the field in front of the barn. Lots of lovely walks in the area and oodles of dog friendly pubs for lunches. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Snow Hall Barn.
A very spacious property with excellent facilities. Good location for visiting local attractions etc.
On arrival we were surprised and disappointed to find this ‘woodland retreat’ to be sited on the gravel driveway of a house which directly overlooked it. Woods were off to left and although pretty they formed the personal space around the shepherds hut. We arrived on a cold day and the place was very cold and the hot water did not run long enough for two to have a shower. The pub recommended for dinner was fully booked so we cooked in the retreat. That said we loved the place it’s peaceful location the decor and cleanliness and the passion with which the owner wants to provide a great stay. ...more
Beautiful views and an interesting conversion of old farm buildings. The play room with table tennis was great especially for children but the advertised snooker was very poor and no useful cues. We were lucky to have no one staying in the adjoining properties as this liberated more play space. The greatest surprise was having an open plan lavatory and bath in the master bed room. This would have been so easily walled off during the conversion rather than just a wooden shelf as partial barrier. This also meant there was no wardrobe or cupboard for clothes in that bedroom. The lounge, kitchen a...more
its a lovely village and surrounding areas but the main room needs some double glazing as the road is close and noisy compact cottage with all you need otherwise
