I keep coming back as I discover more things I can do in the area. There are stars to view at night, weather permitting; walks in the Galloway Forest Park; history in many corners of Galloway; good roads for cycling; bird watching places, near Castle Douglas and on the Solway Firth. This was my third stay at the Bothy and I booked again for next year. Both Iain and Jackie are more than excellent hosts. There is plenty of space in the accommodation, its clean and super cosy and the little summerhouse at the back patio is a wonderful space to enjoy the view over the fields. Highly recommended

We arrived at the bothy on Friday evening, it was very clean and tidy. It had everything that we needed for a great week away together, the location was beautiful. It was very quiet and peaceful throughout the day. We loved sitting in the summerhouse in the evenings. It’s a perfect cottage for a couple to stay in Scotland, we will definitely be coming back Tom and Heidi

We spent a week in The Bothy Cottage. The situation is excellent for a relaxed ,peaceful holiday. Very comfortable & exceptionally clean. The cottage had all essentials. Comfortable bed in lovely upstairs room with settee & TV. The summer house was an added bonus. Perfect for sitting chilling out after a great day exploring surrounding countryside. We would certainly recommend this property . Owners were very pleasant & helpful.

Such a comfortable little space,sunny aspect at rear for sitting out for breakfast and early evening. Everything you would need, lovely helpful hosts.Lots to do in the local area,forestry walks and Cream of Galloway.Cocoa Bean Factory vg plus visits to Kippford and other local towns with lots of interesting stuff.Carsluith Smokehouse at Carsluith is excellent. A relaxing holiday and even visited the Mull of Galloway spectacular

As a random, stick a pin in the map, sort of break, we couldn't have picked a better place. Easy to find, really quiet and peaceful, clean and comfortable, friendly people, what more could you ask for. It is located in a lovely area with plenty to see and do. Also there is an excellent ice cream factory just down the road!

Had a fabulous week staying at Clauchan Farm's The Dairy Bothy, a small but very cosy holiday cottage. The Bothy was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, it is well equipped and ideal for two people. We especially liked the loft bedroom and the lovely summerhouse overlooking the farm and surrounding countryside. Clauchan Farm cottages are located just off the A75 in lovely quiet and peaceful countryside, but only 5 minutes from local village. There are beautiful beaches nearby, Galloway Forest and Loch Ken a little further afield. Also many other attractions for families, in this very much underated corner of Scotland, i.e. Mabie Farm Park near Dumfries is a brilliant day out, and Cream of Galloway Adventure Park and ice cream factory which is literally just down the road from Clauchan. We visited during Covid 19 restrictions and felt a little anxious when booking regarding hygiene etc. However we had no concerns at all during our stay as everything possible had, and was being done to abide by government guidelines and keep guests safe. Owners Ian and his wife are lovely, very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend The Clauchan Farm holiday cottages for a wonderful holiday, we hope to visit again soon. wners Ian and his wife are friendly and very welcoming.

Had a great holiday here after lockdown. The Bothy was small, comfortable and cosy with everything the two of us needed. We particularly liked the sunhouse, it was lovely to sit in and watch the wildlife in the evening. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend The Bothy.

We stayed in the bothy over new year. From the very beginning at time of booking ian could not have been more helpful. We arrived and the place was immaculate. The bed was so comfortable I had the first decent nights sleep in months. Everything was perfect I can honestly say there was nothing that was dirty and there was nothing wrong needed and didn't have the property is in stunning surroundings no noise . Our fur bubbas were made to feel welcome as well which is a big thing for is. Dogs are welcome as long as they are not left alone and are well behaved. We enjoyed our stay so much that we rebooted for this new year for the middle byre for 7 nights. The bothey in august for 7 days and a long weekend in the barn in april. I am an extremely fussy person when it comes to holidays and incant wait to go back. The value for money is outstanding. We are trying all the properties to see which is our favourite for future stays. Ian is one of the nicest people I cant recomend rhis little farm enough. Dont just take my word for it try it for yourself you will not be disappointed.

We had a lovely festive break in The Bothy. The house was lovely and warm and beautifully decorated for our arrival. The kitchen had everything we needed and the owners were on hand if we needed anything (we didn't but it was nice to know help was on hand). Very peaceful place. Would definitely go back.

First time visit to to this part of the country. We loved it here in Galloway. The changing colours of the forest and the crisp air was most enjoyable whilst walking our dogs. The house was lovely and clean and warm and was a perfect base for getting our and about. The owners are on hand if anything is needed but we were fine and had a great time.

Perfect little place for a getaway. Cosy, clean, comfortable, friendly hosts. The only slight niggle was that there is a cattle farm very close by and the sound of the calves , newly separated from their mothers, was quite distressing.

Small, quirky, two-storied property attached to main farm-house; therefore private but within hail of others. Very clean, well equipped, comfortable and nice and warm - important as it was January! Nice bathroom. As a 'shower' person I liked the electric over-bath shower. Extremely comfortable bed (wish I could've taken it home with me!) in a lovely bedroom featuring TV/sitting area. Perfect for relaxing at night. Dog-owners will appreciate that the stairs are 'filled in' and carpeted, many dogs disliking open-style and slippy wooden stairs. Plenty of space for my dog's beds up and downstairs. Kitchen/dining area is small but well equipped; I had everything I needed. Plenty of storage for groceries, cases and clothes. Information folder very helpful; easy connection to Wifi. TV in kitchen as well, with little sofa. Enclosed yard. In good weather, there's a summer-house for outside seating and patio area. I was there just after New Year after busy seasonal time, so just wanted to chill with the dog. Did a bit of walking around the area (dog on lead, because there are animals around) meeting the pigs, goats and donkeys. Shopped in Kircudbright, where again it's possible to walk the dog down by the waterside, and other towns are within easy distance, too. Lovely area. Proprietor very friendly and helpful. Great stay altogether. Would like to come back!
