Spa Changing Rooms is a Grade II* listed holiday cottage dating back to the early 19th Century. Located in Lower Swell, near Stow-on-the-Wold, this characterful cottage, complete with wood burning stove and enclosed garden, has all the modern amenities included, offering a comfortable base for five guests to enjoy exploring the North Cotswolds.

The cottage has a lot of character, but not sure it fits with the description of “luxury cottage” as it says on the website. It needs a bit of TLC and a good in-depth cleaning. The house was full of cobwebs and spiders, and they were big and thick cobwebs, that had been there for weeks. The cushions available for the garden chairs were in the kitchen and in a very poor state, some of them ripped. The kitchen floor wasn’t clean at all and it was sticky. The kitchen utensils and cutlery were dirty and greasy, I presume the previous occupants didn’t clean very well but this is not something you expect to find in a so called “luxury” accommodation. Also, having to undo the beds completely removing the duvet covers and the pillow cases was quite surprising. We have stayed in other cottages in the Cotswolds before and we never found an accommodation so lacking in cleanliness, sadly it was quite a disappointment and don’t think I would recommend this cottage to anyone.

We are sorry that you felt disappointed with the cleanliness of the property and that you did not report any issues to the property manager during your stay. We do provide all guests with a telephone number and email address of the property manager in case of any such issues. It is unfortunate no approach was made during the stay which would have enabled the owners to attend, with or without the Housekeeper, and address the points raised. Cleanliness of the property is an area of great importance to the owners and guests have always scored the property highly as per the previous reviews confirm. Whilst the housekeepers take great care to remove the cobwebs, they are rarely able to catch the spiders that cause them so cobwebs will sadly soon appear back. The cushions for the outdoor furniture will be checked over and if found to be in a poor state, new ones will be ordered. We do hope that overall, you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds!

A quaint and quickie cottage. The location near all the tourist spots. We had a good and relaxing time in the Cotswolds.

We arrived to the house and it was cold, but after I sent a text to the owners they turned the heating on, and it was perfect.
Perfect cottage, perfect location, in the middle of the Cotswolds.
I’ll be back.

Hello, the house was clean and in good condition. The top of microwave was really dirty only realised as had to make dinner for my daughter. And no toaster in the house? Also the stairs to the top bedroom are really steep not ideal for a 2.5 year old and I thought the rooms were all on one level as per the photos.
We had a lovely stay though. Thanks

Firstly - Stay Cotswold were very helpful and amenable to questions and requests.

The property is beautiful and an in a beautiful area. I was saying hello to the sheep with my morning coffee. The property is full of character but despite that the property has a modern kitchen and bathroom and was very comfortable to stay in. The property owners were also very kind both before and throughout our stay and as our stay was over the Christmas period, had decorated - that was much appreciated! The nearby villages are very nice and the pub within walking distance is a big plus. Great food in Stow and lovely walks all around.

Important to remember that this is an old building, and although it is clear on the website, it should be taken into account that accessibility for those with difficulty to the top bedroom would be difficult.

The property was in very good condition. Kitchen and bathroom etc all fitted out to a high standard.

The cottage front door is just 3 feet from the B road to Stow. We were four adults staying so did not bother us but might if you have small children. Whilst we were there the road was closed due to bridge repairs. The neighbours said it would normally be busy.

Due to the size of the bedrooms there is limited amount of storage space.

Overall a nice cottage nicely furnished and we had a very enjoyable stay.

A great place to experience cottage life in the Cotswolds in a quaint historical home.

The modern day conveniences were very much appreciated, and offered an interesting contrast to life of a few centuries ago.

The only suggestion we would offer is to make sure you drive a car to the property, as walking on the highway to town is not very safe.

Absolutely perfect. The cottage is in a great location, and could not be better equipped. Great about of information was given before, very smooth stay!

Wonderful cottage ideally located for Stow on the Wold.

Charming cottage with period features, comfortable beds and well equipped for an enjoyable stay. We particularly liked the open countryside views from the top of the garden. The cottage was in a great location to explore the cotswolds, being within 30 mins drive of bourton on the water, the slaughters, bibury and Sudeley castle. The front of the cottage was right on the roadside but the traffic was quiet later in the day

It was just a 6 day short stay for 3 of us who were looking forward to a rest and relaxation after a harrowing time. The situation of the cottage was excellent for this part of the Cotswolds and we made the most of it during our stay. The cottage was small and quirky but welcoming and the beds were clean and comfortable. It was lovely to sit in the warm sunshine at the top of the garden and to look over the extensive countryside and fields. The cottage was easy to find and handy for all amenities.
