We have just returned from our third visit to the fabulous Gardener’s Cottage and it never disappoints. Beautiful well equipped and appointed holiday let in a very peaceful location just five minutes from Cardigan. Lovely large enclosed garden where the dog can explore safely. You don’t get many dog friendly rentals of this high standard. Pete and Kath are great hosts and always there if you need anything. We will certainly be back again, and again!

Fabulous cottage with high end spec finish. Decorated to a high standard with thoughtful interior. The pictures don't 'do it' justice. So many really thoughtful gestures. Arrival day was my birthday and the card,flowers, bottle of fizz, fresh bread, milk,cake, butter and so much more was just such a lovely surprise after a horrible car journey into Wales that took twice the time anticipated and the 20mph speed restrictions didn't help. Even the dogs were super spoilt with treats, balls, bankets, towels but the temporary dog tags (in case they were lost) was a brilliant addition. Even a dog wash area outside.
There was quality kitchen ware and appliances, plus outside cooking and seating in a well fenced garden area. Even a camera in a bird box if there had been any activity this time.
It was private, quiet and restful. We could have happily lived there.
The Cottage was off a busy, fast road, so walking to the footpaths wasn't ideal. The paths, particularly the bridleways were overgrown and tricky in places. Unfortunately the cows and calves were in the nearest field, so whilst lovely to see, meant restricted access, understandably.
Cardigan itself was a busy tourist spot and worth a visit. The supermarkets were just outside town and easy to find and access.
The beach we chose was dog friendly and fairly busy but an enjoyable walk.
We were provided with alot of useful info about the area, walks and eating opportunities

This was our second visit to Gardeners cottage and was yet again a relaxing comfortable experience from start to finish. Every aspect of our guest experience was catered for and we could not have asked for more. A beautiful enclosed garden with lovely views.
The interior of the cottage was beautifully furnished and thoughtfully laid out.
Would not hesitate to book again in the future.

Beautiful house, comfortable and very well equipped. Everything was of a high standard and provided the perfect holiday spot for us, our grown up daughter and boyfriend (rooms at opposite ends of the house - genius) and a scruffy dog who couldn’t believe his luck with the enclosed garden, treats and dog wash! Great base for exploring and loved watching the blue tits fledge on the nest cam on our only really wet morning.

This was our 2nd visit to the Gardeners Cottage, and somehow it even managed to surpass the 1st! We were lucky enough to enjoy glorious weather for the duration of our stay which enabled us to take full advantage of the garden and patio furniture this time, a perfect chill-out spot with plenty of wildlife around. The timing of our visit coincided with the nest box being full of 5 Blue Tit chicks. The sight of them being fed by the adults all captured on the nest box camera and viewed in full glory on the TV screen was a wonderful bonus.
The cottage was as immaculate and comfortable as ever and the Welcome Pack difficult to beat.
As for the hosts, Pete and Kath couldn't have been more helpful with their advice, local knowledge and recommendations. Thank you both. We will be back!

Gardener's Cottage has a 5 star rating by "Visit Wales" and we think it is thoroughly deserved which is why we have returned to stay several times. Pete and Kath have created a place that, with or without a dog, we think is the gold standard of holiday cottages - and we have stayed in several holiday cottages throughout the UK. Whenever we are booking a dog friendly cottage elsewhere, we ask ourselves - how does this measure up against what Pete and Kath provide?
For us, the standard of accommodation, the wonderful woodland views from the cottage and garden, the large, secure, dog-friendly garden, the convenient location near Cardigan (Aberteifi) and the fabulous nearby beaches all add up to the essentials for a great holiday experience.
And our miniature dachshund loves the garden and the vast sandy beaches.
When sitting in the garden, there is a bit of traffic noise from the nearby road (although the road is not visible). Inside the cottage the double double glazing and thick stone walls mean that it is barely noticeable.
Pete and Kath are very responsive if anything is needed.
We aim to return again at the same time next year.

The cottage is a great place to relax and a very convenient location for all the nearby facilities, shops etc and as a base for exploring Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire and all the nearby beaches.

The gardeners cottage as usual was can amazing place to stay and unwind. Pete and Kath as usual were brilliant in the treats that they left and the cottage being at an high standard through out. The garden as usual is an amazing space for our dogs and the extra things that are supplied for them makes it even better. I can’t thank Pete and Kath enough for how you are made welcome and left to enjoy a beautiful cottage. One more thing having Parkinson and being unsteady on my feet for a couple this cottage is so well laid out.

Impressed by the information and photographs on the Website. Even more impressed on arrival. The cottage is wonderful, the Welcome Hamper amazing. Even treats, towels, bowls, blankets etc for the dogs. Pete, welcomed us on arrival along with Lisa who was lovely, friendly and helpful. A problem we had with the heating was sorted immediately. Having been to many holiday homes over the years (5 this year) I can honestly say this is certainly one of the best! Can’t wait to return or try one of the other cottages. The Hosts are certainly the best I have experienced.

We can't write a more postive review of Gardeners Cottage. Everything, and I mean everything was top class. We brought our two dogs who even had their own welcome pack awaiting them. I had a chance to look at the bedrooms in the main house too.. fabulous!! Also tucked into a breakfast for one of the mornings in the main house, again wide choice and a great start to the day. Worth pointing out we'd also recommend Crwst which is a baker/deli/ coffee shop and also did a super breakfast.

We had a lovely stay, excellent location in the country but very handy for Cardigan and St Dogmaels.The accommodation has everything you need, very comfortable and spacious. Lovely outdoor seating areas and playroom in the garden for the kids. Large secure garden perfect for our dog to wander without worry of him getting out.
The owners are lovely and provided a great welcome pack for us and the dog as well as a comprehensive guide of the local area before our stay.
Would definitely recommend 'A Bay to Remember' dolphin and wildlife tours. Based in St Dogmaels.

A wonderful visit to West Wales where the cottage was perfect for our stay exploring the area. Pete and Kath were delightful hosts and nothing was too much trouble.
The cottage and garden were immaculate and beautifully decorated with plenty of facilities.
We enjoyed visiting Skomer Island, Poppit beach and delicious coffee at Crwst. Another highlight was the Boy Ashore at Aberporth.
We wil definitely be back.

The quality and comfort of this holiday accommodation was exactly what I was looking for: it far exceeded my expectations.

The design of the cottage with a beautiful view out onto countryside was hugely appealing and didn't disappoint - we felt enormously private and yet the amenities of Cardigan were on the doorstep. The personal welcome and communication we received from owners Pete and Kath were perfectly pitched to make us feel at home on their estate.

Furnishings and equipment were all of an excellent standard and beautifully maintained; the kitchen was fitted with high quality equipment that made cooking a pleasure; beds/linens, sofas and soft furnishings were all of a high standard and pristine. The cottage was absolutely spotless.

Throughout, welcoming touches such as cleaning products, food gifts, fresh flowers made us feel as though Pete and Kath genuinely welcomed us to their accommodation and wanted us to have a comfortable stay.

I book up to 3 cottages in the UK a year - it's such a pleasure to stay somewhere so comfortable and that really was as good as it looked on the website. In fact, the reality was even better than the photos promised!

We had a wonderful stay at the gardeners cottage with our two dogs! They absolutely loved the garden and we enjoyed the facilities and comfort as well.

Really thoughtful local Welsh food items left for the humans and also treats for our dogs!

The open space and tranquil so close in proximity to cardigan town was a big plus!

Would definitely come back to stay again if we can :)

We visited Ty Sherwood last year so were a little anxious that The Gardener's Cottage would not be able to live up to Ty Sherwood's standards. We need not have worried! The cottage was perfect, the view glorious and the location ideal.
Pete was as ever the perfect host going out of his way to accommodate our specific needs. We also enjoyed meeting and chatting to Lisa and Helen who gave us a tour of the Kitchen Garden even encouraging us to pick the ripe (and delicious) strawberries. As for the Welcome Pack of goodies - 10/10.
The garden and grounds are a haven for wildlife. We were lucky enough to see Red Kites flying over daily as well as a multitude of garden birds ........ we even spied the odd fox. In fact on some days we saw more wildlife in the garden than out and about!
There are a number of local walks we discovered via the most informative app, our favourite being the walk fromm Llechryd to Cilgerran Castle along the banks of the Teifi - so peaceful. The circular walk around Dinas Head, the Welsh Wildlife Centre and the coastal path at Cardigan Bay Coastal Farm Park are all well worth the visit.
We are already looking at the calendar to see when to return next year!

The close views of the Red Kites from the garden and the beautiful, surrounding countryside and coast.

A return visit for us to this super 5 star cottage. We love the location with its rural views, its closeness to Cardigan with shops and amenities and it's only a short drive to some fantastic dog-friendly sandy Pembrokeshire beaches (virtually empty when we were there this May) (please note the car park machine at Poppit Sands only takes coins). On a Tuesday morning we like to visit the small local market in nearby St Dogmaels.
As on our previous holidays in this cottage, it had everything we needed and Pete and Kath provided a super welcome pack for us - and one for our dog!
I'm in no doubt we will be back.

We have just had an excellent week in the beautiful Gardener’s Cottage with our two dogs. Large enclosed garden for the pooches to run around in and we were lucky enough to have the benefit of the fields next door to walk them as there were no cows in the fields at the time of our stay.
The cottage itself is superbly finished and very comfortable with great views across the surrounding countryside. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. The welcome pack at the cottage for both the humans and the dogs was superb.
We would highly recommend this cottage, just 5 minutes from Cardigan town and 10 minutes from the lovely Poppit Sands. We will definitely be returning.

The Gardeners Cottage is perfect for anyone's stay.

You will be assured of the warmest of welcomes by the owners Kath and Pete, they are so lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The information they provide when you have booked and paid regarding the property and surrounding area is beautifully presented and packed full of details. The welcome pack of goodies they provide is such a great touch and so thoughtful.

The property is beautiful and comfortably furnished and shows the owners commitment to ensure those staying have the best time. There is ample parking and just a few shallow steps down to the front door. Inside there is one bedroom and en-suite on the ground floor, along with an huge lounge and well equipped kitchen, a utility room and bathroom are but a step up from the kitchen, with an additional bedroom upstairs. The garden is large and it's so lovely to sit on the patio and soak up the silence. (Yes in March we still managed to sit out). We have been in September and it was perfect to open up all the doors and enjoy the outside setting even when inside.

For dog owners like us it's lovely to be somewhere that is truly 'dog-friendly' no long list of do's and don'ts when you arrive that weren't mentioned when you book. With dog blankets, bowls, treats, balls, dog tags provided for use.

Just 15 - 20 minutes drive is Poppit Sands, a really beautiful beach, check the tide times, the sandy stretch is extensive when the tide is out, another favourite of ours and the dogs.There is a handy cafe there if you are so inclined, and the RNLI station and shop, go on buy something or leave a donation.

The town of Cardigan is only a 5 - 10 minute drive which is really handy. Tesco and Tesco petrol station are just outside the main town.

Handy tip - Tesco will deliver shopping directly to The Gardeners Cottage, which is well signed on the road.

Such a great location for the Pembrokeshire coast and some really lovey walks.

We are already looking forward to returning.

This cottage is beautifully and thoughtfully designed, warm, comfortable and serene, with everything you could possibly need, from a comfy bed to dishwasher tablets and coffee pods, Netflix capability and eco friendly cleaning products. A very sweet doggie welcome pack too. The large, peaceful enclosed garden is ideal for dogs (and people!). On the outskirts of Cardigan, Gardener's Cottage is close to Poppit Sands, a 10-15 minute drive away, which is a stunning beach. We found it a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire to the south as well as the less well known Ceridigion coast to the north. We were lucky to have October sunshine almost every day so were able to make the most of the beaches. Cottage owners Pete and Kath could not have been more helpful, even looking after our little pooch so we could go to a spa for the afternoon at the Cliff Hotel which has incredible views over the bay. We had a wonderful break at the Gardner's Cottage and will definitely return.

What a fabulous place, not only is the cottage beautiful but the welcome very warm.

Pete and Kath are the perfect hosts, who really care, the thoughtful touches from personally meeting guests to the welcome pack of goodies, amenities etc really demonstrate this.

The cottage itself is so well appointed we could not think of a single other item we needed. Wonderfully large and comfortable rooms with fantastic views of a large garden and beyond from the sitting room and bedrooms.

This place is a real find, spotlessly clean so if you aren’t a dog lover you will have no worries. If you are a dog owner / lover wow they really go all out with dog treats, some food, dog blankets, toys. Lovely dog wash area outside the utility room, perfect after muddy walks.

Loads of useful information provided via the app they sent.

We can’t wait to head back.

Our second visit to Gardeners cottage and all was just as brilliant as our first visit. The cottage is absolutely spotless with everything you could possibly need during your stay. There is a beautiful garden with BBQ and pizza oven. The beds are comfortable, the power shower great and the kitchen and laundry area have all that you would need. The cottage is ideally situated for trips along the coast and close to Cardigan for shopping. The Welcome pack is amazing with all kinds of surprise gifts. The owners, Kath and Pete are fantastic hosts, making sure that they are there to welcome you on arrival, checking all is ok and also to say farewell when you leave. Absolutely a home from home!!

We had a lovely welcome when we arrived at The Gardener's Cottage which was a wonderful start. The cottage is a beautifully appointed property and every single need is catered for. Style and comfort have not been compromised in this very dog friendly property. The surrounding countryside side is simply lovely. We watched 4 foxes playing in the next door meadow which was also visited by a badger. A kite flew ove the garden and a woodpecker paid a visit too. Cardigan is a lovely town and we fell in love with Poppit Sands. We cannot recommend this delightful holiday cottage enough.

This is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.
We had intended to have many days out in the area but found ourselves wanting to get back to enjoy time in the cottage.
It is well equipped, very comfortable, quiet, and with lovely views. Pete & Kath couldn't be more helpful. We will be returning next year

Gardener's Cottage definitely has the wow factor with no detail overlooked and all decorated tastefully and to the highest quality. It feels homely and not at all like a rental property. Everything was spotlessly clean, smelt lovely and little details like the welcome gifts left in the kitchen and the fact that our dog's favourite food brand was remembered were much appreciated. We were lucky enough to have a week of good weather so made good use of the garden and the pizza oven and it was so nice for our dog to be able to wander in and out of the garden at will and for us to know she was safe and secure in the fully enclosed garden.

The location is superb with the convenience of Cardigan town centre (and Tesco) just down the road (Crwst is superb and the vanilla doughnuts are the best doughnuts we've ever had!) and easy access to places like Tenby, St. David's and Solva in one direction and Aberporth and New Quay in the other. Coracle fish and chips - just a few minutes away - was also good and food still piping hot on arrival back at the cottage!

We have stayed in some amazing places both in the UK and all over the world and this is definitely one of the very best we have ever stayed in. Such a credit to Peter and Kath Austin that they have made this a dog-friendly cottage as we have found too many of the more luxurious rental properties - which this definitely is! - do not allow dogs.

We will definitely be back ....!

This was our second holiday in this cottage. We love the location which is excellent - rural, with superb views and yet only 5 minutes drive to Cardigan (Aberteifi) Town Centre, shops, cafes (dog friendly 'Crwst' cafe is excellent) etc. We love the sandy beaches of Poppit Sands, Newport and Aberporth which are just a short drive away. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped to a very high standard. It's dog friendly with a secure garden and there are suitable walks from the cottage. Really, we think the owners Pete and Kath have thought of pretty much everything, right down to the details - including the welcome packs - for us and our dog! We can't wait to be back!

Gardener’s cottage has been restored to an exceptionally high standard which is apparent from the owners’ website.
Everything from the decor, fixtures, fittings and furnishings inside the cottage to the outside space with its BBQ area, seating and lovely garden is 5*.
The owners’, who met us on arrival, are very efficient and available nearby should that be required.
Its location close to Cardigan and the coast helped us to explore this beautiful part of Wales. Thank you.

Fabulous stay at gardeners cottage, great space for the dogs and close enough to cardigan for everything you need. To wake up to that view and birdsong was a real tonic . Wonderful guide sent to us before our stay too , can’t recommend it highly enough, have already told friends and family about it, and hoping to come back to stay at the owners other properties.

We had a wonderful stay at Gardeners Cottage. Kath and Pete are great hosts and are always on hand if there are any issues. The location, the property and the well equipped kitchen were superb. It is a rare thing to arrive at your cottage, step over the threshold, and know instantly that everything about it is going to be comfortable, clean, and classy. Kath and Pete have created a delightful getaway cottage, the former home of the estate gardener's. Wall length windows offer a panoramic view across the beautiful countryside. The cottage is equipped with every appliance you could need, and it is rare to find such attention to detail. No more should we take olive oil or not, it's all there. The clever app is a bonus if you don't know the area. Our corgi was most at home too - there's sometimes a dogs are ok if you must attitude but the we love dogs approach is what you will find here. Excellent! Can't wait to come back. Diolch yn fawr!

We had a great week at Gardeners Cottage. One of the nicest cottages we’ve ever stayed in. Was spotlessly clean, warm and had everything we needed. Our dog was welcomed with lots of doggy goodies as were we. It’s a beautiful area with lots to do and great beaches. We stayed in Autumn when the weather was mixed but will definitely be back in the summer when we can make full use of the lovely garden, BBQ and pizza oven!! Had a very comfortable week in the cottage which was very clean throughout . The cottage is furnished and set up to a very high standard with many individual extra touches. The beds were very comfortable and the whole set up makes for a relaxing break. Additionally the garden and cottage itself were perfect for our Labrador to also feel at home. We had a friendly welcome from the owner who ensured we had all we needed. The App was user friendly and provides all the information you might need in advance of your stay. A big thank you to Kath and Pete.

We wanted accommodation that was dog friendly (and dog safe) and luxurious. Gardener's Cottage is exactly that and more. It's in a rural location with lovely views yet only a very short drive, or walk, into Cardigan town. And only a 15/20 minutes drive to a number of dog friendly beaches in scenic settings - Poppit Sands, Aberporth and and Newport Sands to name just three. We self-catered mostly, so the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor fitted BBQ were ideal (and there was an outdoor pizza oven had we wanted to use that). The whole booking process was straightforward, the owners were really friendly and helpful and there's an excellent app provided with masses of useful information about the cottage and local facilities/things to do/places to see. In short, it was ideal for us and we hope to be back in 2022.

We’ve just arrived home after a wonderfully stay at The Gardeners Cottage. Pete and Kath had thought of everything to make the accommodation top notch with beautiful decor and accessories throughout - while still being relaxed enough to enjoy your stay with kids and dogs in tow. There were so many lovely extras to enjoy. A fabulous pizza oven and barbecue, prosecco and pancake making kit. Even beer for my husband and our dogs! There was a generous, secure, private garden for our dogs to run around. The Gardeners Cottage is the perfect base to explore Cardigan and the surrounding area. This stylish property is one of our favourite holiday cottages and offers two lovely bedrooms, pristine bathrooms, a comfortable sitting room, and a user-friendly farmhouse style modern kitchen. The large peaceful garden has elevated views over a grassy meadow towards pine trees and a church steeple. The property is perfect for a four-legged friend, with a dog-shower and enclosed garden and little extra gifts. There are extras for the people too, such as a pizza oven, hammock and choice of outdoor seating options. The owners are friendly and helpful, but also give you space: they have set things up so everything is as easy as possible. This is holiday accommodation where they want you to relax and enjoy its restorative benefits. Within a short drive, the welcoming local area boasts two spectacular coastal paths, dog-friendly beaches, small towns to browse, and some good eating out choices.

This cottage is so beautiful. Everything was perfect for our weeks stay including fabulous weather. We had a fantastic welcome pack with gifts included when we arrived and a personal welcome from Kath, the host. The cottage is spacious and very well equipped with all you could need for a stay. The beds were so comfortable, plenty of hot water in the shower room and bathroom and the super lounge area looked out onto a huge garden with comfy chairs, bbq and a pizza oven. The was also a garden room equipped with TV, games and seating for children and adults as a quiet escape from the cottage. We also felt so privileged to get a tour round the main house and fabulous gardens to see all the renovations that are being done and we look forward to returning to see when all is completed. The cottage is also handy for the beaches and coastal path. There is nothing more that you could ask for. Just perfect!!
