A lovely and well equipped cottage in the most peaceful and tranquil location. Sitting on the upstairs balcony overlooking the garden and beyond to the countryside (with a drink) was the highlight of the day.

Our second stay at Old Pear Tree and we love the location, the delightful owners Sue and Simon, that it is 2 dogs friendly . The garden is large and the camellia this time was flowering which was a joy to see each day. I love sitting on the balcony, well wrapped in blankets, listening to the birds or watching the sunset. Sue kindly leaves a welcome hamper which is very welcome after the drive. It fells like home.

Old Pear Tree Barn was a perfect base for a week in Cornwall. The barn was equipped with everything we needed, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The March weather meant that we weren't able to make use of the outdoor space, but from what we saw on the only clear night we had, it's also the perfect place for star gazing, with no light pollution. The directions to the property were clear and we were welcomed by Sue when we arrived. After that we were left to enjoy the barn, with Sue being next door if we needed her at all. The cream tea and milk on arrival were also very much appreciated. We'd definitely stay here again.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Old Pear Tree Barn. A really peaceful, well equipped, beautifully decorated and cosy property with the bonus of being dog friendly too. The property has a lovely large garden with lots of outdoor seating. The owners, Sue and Simon greeted us on our arrival and made us feel most welcome. The accommodation is within walking distance of a lovely village pub and a very short drive to some outstanding beaches and coastal walks. Also very easy to get a little further afield to Padstow and St Ives. Would also throughly recommended a visit to The Fish House restaurant in Fiscal.
Thank you to Sue and Simon for a lovely holiday. We will definitely be returning and would throughly recommend a stay.

Beautiful country retreat within walking distance from the beach and the local village. Accommodation was absolutely lovely and clean and very relaxing and quiet. We took our dog who loved the ample garden and it was lovely to have a countryside walk on the way to the beach. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you

I was truly blown away by The Old Pear Tree Barn, it is a magical place. Everything exceeded all my expectations from the beautiful decor to the wonderful gardens. A perfect place to experience the true beauty of Cornwall. The hosts went above and beyond to help us. I would highly recommend a stay here and would love to return one day too!

my wife was very pleased with the interior as it was clean, had good decor and was very well equipped. I appreciated the effort and generally very good quality build but am very frustrated as the view is mainly obscured by foliage (though accurately shown on their website) and the outside areas, though well-equipped and designed, are in my view insufficiently maintained.

A stunning property; we felt at home immediately, surrounded by wonderful countryside; you need a moment to take it all in on arrival. The welcome hamper was packed full of goodies & was greatly appreciated. The barn has everything you need with modern appliances, no need to pack basics. The Smugglers Den pub was a 5 min walk; the Sunday Roast was delicious (best to book). The weather wasn’t great but the beauty of this place made up for the rain. Cubert’s bakery is a stones-throw away with homemade Cornish pasty’s, also the chip shop was by far the best fish & chips we’ve experienced. Our dog loved the size of the large secure garden & played happily with his ball in between our walks to Holywell beach. I can understand why so many guests return. All in all I would highly recommend Old Pear Tree Barn for a truly beautiful, relaxing, holiday.

We stayed at the barn for 10 days over Easter; our family of four and our dog absolutely loved every second. The property is clean, superbly decorated, with all the comfort needed. It was also safe for our dog as the garden is fully fenced.
The location is fantastic: surrounded by fields in a small hamlet, 20mins walk to the beach, 10mins walk to the small nearby village and 5mins walk from a nice pub.

Old Pear Tree Barn is a truly wonderful place to stay. It has been renovated and is presented inside and out in the most beautiful way. There is a large garden, views are of untouched countryside and we hardly heard a sound. During a cold winter stay the Barn is marvellously warm. Exhilarating coastal walks nearby. The owners could not have been more helpful, solicitous and charming including waiting up to greet us in person on our very late arrival. My dog loved the garden: the only possible negative is that for an escape artist it is not completely secure. I have stayed in many rural rented accommodations but this one stands out as very special. We would love to return

We spent a lovely week at Old Pear Tree Barn in November. The two of up, plus our three little dogs and we all loved it.

The Barn has been beautifully renovated, bedrooms are comfortable and bathroom/kitchen modern - with everything you need. The upstairs living room is super cosy and has amazing rolling countryside views. We watched goldfinches in the lavender bushes.

The barn benefits from ground source heating which means in winter (when we stayed) it is delightfully cosy - especially great to come back to after a blustery coastal walk. Holywell Bay is walking distance around 30-40 minutes over fields and alongside a stream. It is a short drive to the Bakers Dozen in Cubert for highly recommended coffee and cakes - if you are there near Christmas they do the BEST mince pies we have ever eaten.

Location could not be better for a peaceful break, away from everything, but with the options of shorter and longer drives to St Agnes, St Ives, Sennen Cove etc.

Sue and Simon are great hosts. Their communication before, during and after our stay was excellent. And Sue went the extra mile of unpacking our supermarket shopping after the delivery driver turned up 2 hours early!

Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

A fabulous barn conversion. It felt like stepping into a home rather than a holiday barn/ cottage. We lacked for nothing. A well stocked kitchen and a lovely hamper. A large garden which my dogs loved, plus a dog friendly public footpath walk outside the gate. We will return to this Cornish gem.

We have now stayed here three times with our dog Bella - the accommodation is of a high standard and very well provided with kitchen utensils and essentials. The owners are very friendly and happy to help out if you should need anything.

The location is great for exploring Cornwall and has easy access to a dog walk and beaches.

We will be returning for our fourth visit in the future !

We just came back from a lovely week in Cornwall and enjoyed our stay at The old pear tree barn.
Arrived to sunshine and a lovely complimentary hamper and a great welcome from Sue who showed us around and answered any questions.Barn is lovely and well equipped and garden is beautiful.Ideally located with walks and beaches near by.Holywell bay is about a 25 min walk down a lane and across fields ( beware of the Sheep and Cows if you have a dog)My only criticism ( and this is just my preference) is no tv in main bedroom! When you live with all Men who hog the TVs it’s nice to sneak off to the bedroom for a bit of piece and quiet and catch up on some Netflix
Would highly recommend a stay at Old pear tree barn… thank you for loaning us your little piece of heaven for the week

We had a lovely stay at The Old Pear Tree Barn. The Barn is very well equipped and the owners provided a welcome hamper which was a lovely touch. We felt we had arrived in paradise and immediately (including our dog) felt at home. The location is very quiet snd peaceful and the views are stunning and we enjoyed late afternoons in the garden after days out. The barn is in walking distance to the beach (Holywell Bay) and perfectly located for Perranporth. Padstow and the SW coastal path. We really didn’t want to leave and would return in a heartbeat! Thank you to the owners for a perfect stay!

What a lovely place to stay for a ‘getaway’ from it all holiday.
After our long journey we were very pleased that the instructions given were excellent and led us, through the beautiful country roads and paths, directly to the gate of Old Pear Tree Barn.
The decor and comfort of the barn was superb along with being well equipped.
The garden is very well maintained and such a delight to sit out and just gaze. It didn’t take us long to relax due to the peace and tranquillity.
We enjoyed the walk to Holywell Bay beach, turn left out of the barn and keep walking through the meadows and woodlands.
We can also recommend the Smugglers Den pub which is a short walk from the barn.
There is also a handy, narrow footpath which takes you up hill to the village of Cubert, recommend the bakery.
In summary, this holiday retreat has everything one needs and more, both on sight and within easy reach of many towns and villages in Cornwall. ( beaches, meadow walks, pubs, ice cream and Cider farms etc etc ) We will be returning, shhh don’t tell too many people

This was our sixth stay at the cottage and as always Sue & Simon made us very welcome. There are so many things to do locally; walks from the cottage, coastal walks and a number of NationalTrust houses. The garden at the cottage is a great space to relax with use of a fire pit and BBQ. Looking forward to our next visit in 2022.

We stayed at the Old Pear Tree Barn in December for a week and we honestly couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place to stay! After a very stressful year we desperately needed a little break to recharge our batteries and the Old Pear Tree Barn over-exceeded our expectations. The location is simply stunning and incredibly peaceful and the whole cottage is so beautifully done and tastefully furnished that it appears impossible not to relax. The sitting room upstairs with the lovely views over the fields was so inviting and cosy, you can easily spend your entire day up there. The layout of the cottage is very unusual, but in a good way, we absolutely loved it. The underfloor heating in wintertime is a real treat when you get up in the morning and make your coffee in the well equipped kitchen. Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated and the views out of the main bedroom are simply gorgeous to wake up to. We can only imagine how incredible this place must be in summertime when you can make full use of the spacious pretty garden and the big balcony. Our lovely hosts Simon and Sue live just next door and have been so welcoming and helpful, thank you once more. We honestly can’t recommend the Old Pear Tree Barn enough and we will surely return regularly.

We had 2 lovely weeks at Old Pear Tree Barn, despite having some poor weather in October 2020.

There was a welcome Hamper with some delicious Cornish Goodies, and a fridge with Milk, Bacon, Eggs, Sausage, Mushrooms and Tomatoes..Plus Tea Bags, Coffee, Scones, Jam and Cornish Clotted Cream, with a loaf of Bread and some Cornish Butter....so we were OK for the evening, and didn’t need to find any shops that night.

There is a local little shop in Cubert, a fish and chip shop, and a Morrisons a few miles away for a larger shop.

The local Inn...the Smugglers Den Inn serves food too..which is a short walk back up the Lane, (but we called them first for info, or looked at the Smugglers Den Inn website due to Covid restrictions)..

The Barn was well equipped, tastefully furnished and everything was in excellent working order,...Towels, Hairdryer, Iron etc all provided, and as we went during the Covid 19 period (Oct 20) we felt reassured that all was clean and guidelines for holiday lettings adhered to...there were also instructions regarding Laundry etc, Sanitisers, and Anti Bacterial Cleaning materials.

Completely private grounds at the end of a Lane, with only 3 other properties...Large gravelled parking area...not over looked, with a gorgeous view of fields, hills and sheep....there was a Balcony (as it’s an upside down Barn...so the Lounge is upstairs with French Doors onto a Wooden Balcony)..which gave us some lovely evening sunsets. the Balustrade is a clear glass, so even sitting in the Lounge, your view is unhindered.

Our little dog Darcey loved her holiday too....There was a Dog Bed she could use, some towels, and a large garden she loved to run about in...and a welcome bowl of water ready for when she jumped out of the car, the heating was on, some welcoming lights were on too...these are the details that make a property stand out above the rest.

Underfloor heating was wonderful, upstairs and down, so we were cosy in the evenings... showers all worked perfectly, with loads of hot water on demand.

There was Sky TV, a good internet connection (the password etc is there for you) ....but phone signal is poor....(we are with O2..and our signal was available only standing on Balcony...but the Owner Sue, a lovely lady...informed us of this on our arrival, plus told us she could inform us of any attractions etc, as due to Covid, all the leaflets were removed from the Barn....but WhatsApp was OK when connected to the Internet....so we could keep in touch with family and friends when we wanted to)

Holywell Beach is nearby.....stunning location for a walk....fabulous views.

A lot of Cornwall Car Parks (including Holywell and Boscastle, Penzance etc) are covered by the Justparks App....which is really worth downloading, so you can pay via a credit/debit card....because if you are like us and never have any coins...this is handy to use.

This is a quiet, idyllic Holiday location, the Owners ( Sue and Simon who Love next door) are lovely, they are there if you need them at the drop of a hat....but otherwise invisible...perfect for us!

So all in all...we couldn’t have asked for more, (apart from some better weather, but Old Pear Tree Barn, Sue and Simon, have no control over that!.....but as we chose to stay inside for the odd day or two, due to the rain, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay cosy in)

We wouldn’t hesitate to book Old Pear Tree Barn again, for our next Cornish Holiday....Thankyou...xx

A wonderful, peaceful break

Old Pear Tree Barn is a little gem that we are so glad we found.
Set in beautifully maintained surroundings, the converted barn and piggery was a home-from-home. Clean, beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and a delightful hamper of local supplies, Old Pear Tree Barn was a a wonderful, relaxing holiday stay which all our family members thoroughly enjoyed.

We have recently returned from a very relaxing week at Old Pear Tree Barn with our three dogs and can’t wait to return! The location was perfect for us, with a pub at the end of the lane and only a gentle stroll through fields and shaded woods to the beach (which is dog friendly all year round)..... and the stunning garden where we drank our morning coffee, and spent warm relaxing afternoons with a glass of wine ...... pure bliss! We could easily have not used our car for the whole week as the property provides everything you could possibly need (and so much more), and as such we felt extremely comfortable, safe and relaxed. The very thoughtful owners, Simon and Sue kindly left us an amazing welcome basket with delicious fresh bread, cheese and scones, jam and cream (not to mention some very lovely wine and other local produce!) which was very much appreciated and just adds to the special draw of this place. We would highly recommend this beautiful property without any hesitation and have already booked to return again next year.

My husband, dog, and I stayed here for a week and it was just the escape we needed. The pictures don’t give it justice - the cottage is truly spectacular, cozy, and spacious. We really appreciated the amazing welcome basket and the care they took in preparing for our stay in the crazy COVID times we are living in. We felt secluded yet a lovely pub is only a ten minute walk away, while a gorgeous beach is about a 35 minute walk away. We have so many great memories from just relaxing in the beautiful garden. We hope to return again - this place is a gem.

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks at The Old Pear Tree Barn and can honestly say it was one of our best holidays ever & we have travelled extensively! The barn itself is adorable and Sue & Simon have not scrimped on decor. Everything you need is provided and it’s the little touches that make a stay here special. Only downside for us was the nearest beach was a bit of a trek by foot so we had to drive but if you want to explore Cornwall it’s a great base.

Lovely relaxing stay at Old Pear Tree Barn - highly recommend!

We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely property. The surroundings are peaceful and quiet, and the garden is extensive and provided with loungers-very rare in British properties!
The house itself is immaculate, and furnished to a very high standard-towels and linen first class. The main bedroom has ample storage space for clothes, and overlooks the garden with doors out on to a patio. The ensuite bathroom is well-equipped, with a bath and shower and useful shelving.

The kitchen is modern and equipped with every convenience, and was a pleasure to cook in! Nothing had been overlooked in the way of utensils, pots and pans, crockery, glasses and cleaning materials.

The upstairs lounge is a haven of comfort, with glorious views over the countryside, and a balcony with table and chairs - ideal for tea!

The owners are welcoming and friendly, and make sure that your stay is trouble-free.

This is our 4th stay at Old Pear Tree, and it is just as wonderful as ever.
Cottage is perfect, beautifully furnished with a superbly fitted kitchen, with a stunning garden and terrace, all set in a fantastic tranquil and peaceful location, only 20mins walk from Holywell Bay, and with easy access to the fantastic Crantock Beach.
Simon and Sue can't do enough to help.
We cannot recommend this cottage enough.
