We loved staying at Howgills House and the hot tub was a particular hit! The only v small thing was when in the shower the hot air sucks the curtain in and it sticks on you! Makes it hard to keep the floor dry. Maybe replace with a screen? A drying room would be useful after all those wet walks! The social areas worked really well and it enabled us to spend time with my mum safely. Thanks so much!
A very nice relaxing place to stay with excellent facilities. The location is spot on and driving distance to all famous tourist destinations. We met Nigel, the owner of the business, very nice to chat with him. Sorry, we were not able to say goodbye when we left in a hurry to rejoin our friends to the first service station stop on our way home to London.
Beautiful property and very friendly management team. All services and facilities you could possibly need onsite and help at hand if needed. The hot tub and bar were very special touches. My husband had a wonderful birthday and the whole group loved the house.
We all agreed this was the best accommodation we have stayed in. The boys particularly liked the hot tub, football pitch and games room, we barely saw them. Great lounge room and outdoor area. We spent the whole evening in the big dining and sitting room. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed just three nights, with our dog, hence choosing a ground floor apartment with very handy patio doors off the living room. Everything we needed was provided, and the provision of, for example, cooking oil and a decent cafetière, were much appreciated. All spotlessly clean and comfy, and everything worked which is far from typical in holiday accommodation in my experience! Would have welcomed understanding why the heating would come on during the night, but that didn’t affect our enjoyment of the accommodation and the lovely town.
Fire doors prevented flow through the apartment Damp smell in onsuite shower-fan didnt appear to be working Mattress too small for bedframe. Easy to catch toes.uncomfortable getting out of bed We are 2 adults who booked a 2 bedroomed apartment only to find the 2nd bedroom locked and unavailable to us-we left a night early because of this Otherwise apartment comfortable-plenty of crockery/cutlery -spotless everywhere. Nice views of the fells from the sitting area window
Brilliant worth every penny. If ever in the area again with a group I would not look anywhere else. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
On our arrival we were given a brief tour of the property. It had absolutely everything we needed to make our short stay thoroughly enjoyable. There was a lot to do whilst hiding from the inclement weather and we kept ourselves entertained without a problem. The beds were very comfortable and everything was super clean - a far cry from the last place we stayed at. We are going to tell all our friends and family about this hidden gem - it’s perfect for big birthday celebrations, team-building trips and hen parties!! Thank you Howgills Barn.
Had a wonderful 2 nights in apartment 11, was perfect, couldn’t think of one thing I’d change, spotless, cosy, relaxing, everything you need, central location, off road parking, easy access. Amy was especially helpful as I’m a disabled traveler so when booking she couldn’t have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Great location, and well appointed apartment. Parking provided and dog friendly. Communications were excellent.
We wanted a last minute no frills family room in the middle of nowhere with fantastic walks from the door. We also wanted hot tub access. The rooms were basic but had all you needed. The kitchen was well stocked, spacious and easy to use. The living/dining space was relaxed and again spacious. The hot tub was the highlight due to the views as you soaked. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. For a last minute night away it was a little over priced in my Yorkshire opinion and the hidden dog charge/ hot tub charge wasn't advertised on the website but we thoroughly enjoyed our entire sta...more
