Had a wonderful time at the Constable lodge. Presented well, perfect location for us. Amenities were good.
Clean, tidy and very comfortable. The cottage is magical, with excellent facilities and utilities, that will make it tempting to stay indoors all day! However the village is worth visiting in itself, and there's some fantastic pubs within walking distance, serving excellent food at an affordable price.
My partner and I stayed at the Box Valley Cottage for 5 weeks as we needed a temporary reaidence while relocating to the area. The cottage was perfect for us. The kitchen is very well apportioned. Large and roomy, easy to cook in with a large refrigerator and cooktop. The living space is cozy and comfortable. The beds were extremely comfy and we felt at home. The property had a beautiful backyard garden with views of the countryside. The Crown pub is excellent, the Angel Inn restaurant was incredible. Everything in the cottage was exactly as advertised. The washing machine was very we...more
Belchamp Hall Mill cottage is a fantastic property which provides spacious accommodation with great character. The two floor property offers a large amount of space which is rarely found in cottages for two people. The scenery around the cottage is stunning and walks are right outside your front door. The cottage is well equipped to an high standard and is extremely comfortable. We stayed in very cold outside temperatures (-5C) but the cottage was very cosy with its underfloor heating downstairs in the bedroom and bathroom and upstairs the log burner and central heating in the longe and ki...more
We have stayed at the old post office numerous times in the past. But due to covid had not been for a few years. It did not dissappoint. When you arrive there is a lovely welcome pack with various sweet treats. The house is spotlessly clean, warm and inviting set in beautifully maintained grounds. We spent 10 days there with our dogs and family and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Chris, the site manager was always available to answer questions and help if needed and his team were friendly without being intrusive. Our dogs were made to feel welcome.
We had an amazing week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Calf Pens. Honestly couldn’t fault facilities! Delightful cottage with comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, really comfortable living area, set in lovely grounds in a delightful area. We found it reassuring that Allison and Huge left a welcome letter and contact number and that we were able to contact them if we needed to.
Well appointed and spacious accommodation in a quiet, rural setting but only 10 minutes from Sudbury. Very comfortable and with everything you would need for a short stay.
Lovely place to stay; warm, comfortable and inviting. Both log burner and AGA were easy to use. The 2 upstairs bedrooms were huge and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bed linen was white crisp cotton. There was plenty of hot water and the heating could be adjusted appropriately. The garden bedroom was tiny but we knew it would be and the fridge was small and not easily accessible if you intend to do a lot of cooking for 5 or 6 people - but that's a very minor gripe. The stairs might be a bit hard to negotiate if you were infirm or very elderly. The enclosed garden was lovely and...more
We had a lovely relaxing stay at the cartlodge. We hadn't been to the area before and it was the perfect location for visiting many National Trust properties as well as other interesting places. The lodge itself is well appointed with a very comfy bed, lovely garden and view of the church. Only one suggestion, maybe the sofas in the living room could do with a change as they are very low and not ideal for anyone older or with back or knee problems. But apart from that 5 stars!
This is a perfect place to stay. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in and generally, it is a very comfortable place tucked away in a quiet spot.
Ideally located for a long weekend away from London but within a 90min drive away. The photos don't do it justice - the space is vast, with great decorative / architectural touches that nod to the space's lengthy history. The space has every thoughtful mod-con for a luxurious self-catered stay - zero roughing it here. Special mention must be made for the very comfortable bed and hot high-pressure shower! We enjoyed using woodburner - though the central heating was very effective if that's your preference. For those travelling with a dog - the fenced-in garden is a great practical...more
Enjoyable stay, excellent facilities and good location. Would stay again. Parking is difficult if you have a large car.
Light, bright, comfortable and warm house, in rural Suffolk. Helpful owners close by. Drive to shops, pubs and places of interest.
We enjoyed every single second of our stay and didnt want to come home. The bed is the most comfortable we have ever slept in. We are big fans of lovejoy so were thrilled to see where it was filmed and went to many areas in search of different filming locations. I must also thank Charlie of Belchamp Hall for letting us go and photograph the outside of the hall and gardens when i called to ask if it would be possible as we were such Lovejoy fans. He was such a lovely man and asked if we were warm and comfortable enough in the Hayloft, which we certainly were. We are now saving to go again! It ...more
Upon arrival the cottage was well lit, warm and welcoming with classic music in background. A very generous welcome pack was provided particularly if your party members have a sweet tooth! The kitchen is very cosy with the Aga with everything provided for a comfortable stay. The lovely sitting room had ample comfortable sofas for all our party of six to seat comfortably and was a lovely room to relax in.. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was fresh, good quality cotton which was much appreciated. Nice big bath towels provided and plenty of loo roll! We all appreciated the c...more
Great place to relax in countryside but so close to everything in Colchester. Comfy & nicely equipped, sure even better in spring/summer
We stayed in the Cartlodge for the second time and it was absolutely gorgeous! It‘s beautifully located and offers all the necessary amenities without fail. We love it because it has a wonderful view over this huge piece of land from every single room. Great place to explore Suffolk, too! The contact with Charlie, the estate manager, is great, too! A perfect place to stay and highly recommendable. We also love the concept of Idyllic Suffolk!!
Small immaculate cottage, on busy road in village. Kitchen tiny but adequate, oven door didn’t fit. Oddly contacted by agent to ask why a window was open and that our fuel economy wasn’t great! Felt we were being spied on!
The living area was smaller than expected but was adequate, but for four people it would be a little cramped.
Lovely location. A bit out in the sticks. Very comfortable especially in the winter time. Have to come back in the summer.
We all had a great time during our stay at The Old Barn and Charlie at Idyllic Suffolk couldn’t have been more helpful, dealing with all our questions and sorting out the blinds in the bedroom for us. We would definitely recommend Idyllic Suffolk and will contact Charlie again when planning our next visit to Suffolk.
The cottage was lovely and quirkly but the new back and front door let in a lot of cold air. There were only 2 teaspoons.
My friend and I stayed in Stable Cottage in Semer and were disappointed with the lack of cleanliness especially with the pool which was the main reason for booking this. I am a keen swimmer and this was why we booked this. The pool was full of dead insects and the tiles round it had been covered in plastic which was peeling away from the side. We couldn’t sit out because the chairs were dirty. There were a lot of cobwebs in the property. The bed was clean but there was an issue about the blind for the window. The owner met us by saying he forgot we were coming which we did not think was very w...more
