Everything was perfect about the apartment, except that we are used to king size beds, and the small bedroom only held a double, which made sleeping difficult. There were problems with the heating system, but these were attended to with alacrity by the engineer (most helpful) and the agent, who is a lovely lady who appears to move at the speed of light! I cannot speak highly enough of this place and of the service we received - if only there were a king size bed, we would wish to return .....
We've loved the appartement from the first moment. We've reached everything we've want to see by walking (with all the ups and downs it is fitnesstraining), but you can feel the wonderful atmosphere of this exiting city. We had only three days but we will co e back.
We really enjoyed our stay at Drummond Place, all amenities were to a high standard, excellent value for money, wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
We loved our stay at this cute little apartment. There was plenty of room for my wife and I and our two small girls. Clean with a very functional kitchen, a free bottle of red wine, and a few steps to restaurants, the bus station, and Princes Street.
Fantastic little place to stay in Edinburgh for a short break. Could have quite happily stayed there longer, Very handy for shops in city centre and local bistros; bars and eclectic mix of little independent retailers on the doorstep - including the cheese shop which is well worth the visit. Only down side for me were the cobbled streets - not easy to walk on when you have a dodgy hip... Would highly recommend it for a couple for a romantic short break. Greatbase staff very knowledgeable about the area and extremely helpful on parking.. Thank you - Will book again for a return visit in t...more
Great location for getting around, lots around within walking distance. So much to see in the area! Katie was very welcoming and helpful for what's around
Nice house, Ideal for a stay over Christmas. Facilities and equipment generally very good. Only issues were, the lack of a TV (we brought a small TV and connected it up to our laptop) and not a great amount of cutlery. Off road parking very useful, goor location close to Stockbridge.
Our family enjoyed 3 nights stay at Usher halls views and it was in the perfect location. Even though in busy location the city noise was well blocked when windows were closed. It was very modern & clean. If I have to mention anything that could be improved upon, it would be that one of the arm chairs in common living space has seen better days. It looked okay but is not really comfortable at all. An extra towel or two & a fan for air movement would have been nice as well. We had arranged to car hire at the airport through great base & wandered the airport for nearly an hour before we finally ...more
My party of four adults stayed for three days at the conclusion of a driving tour of Scotland, and we used Royal Mile Mansion #14 as our base for exploring Edinburgh's old town on foot. The location is nearly perfect for this purpose; about halfway along the Royal mile, in the middle of innumerable restaurants, pubs, and shops, and very near all public transit options. The accomodation itself was well appointed, comfortable, spacious, quiet, and possessed of an updated, old world charm. Of particular note were the city views and the extremely comfortable beds. All members of my party comm...more
Beautiful, clean and comfortable apartement in a nice neighbourhood close to all sights and good restaurants within walking distance. Very friendly staff! We had a great stay!
Firt of all, Great location Perfect amenities! You can imagine the dream house you ever dreamed.
This is a beautifully proportioned flat in a charming location. The furniture was originally very well chosen, and there is a feeling of space and light. There are great views over the New Town from one side. The kitchen has a fair supply of cutlery and crockery. There are some small niggles- the doors squeak loudly, so opening them at night will waken light sleepers, just oiling is needed. One bedroom has the boiler in it, so it continually comes on and off even with hand taps.On the beds ,some mattressses are starting to sag, and some of the windows have been painted shut, and will not ope...more
We enjoyed our stay, it was very comfortable and Katie was a great host dropping off clean laundry and linens every week.
This was a nice, bright, clean and comfortable family apartment for our first two nights in Scotland! Our kids really enjoyed the layout, the comfy beds, and the living room furniture. We highly recommend both the building and the neighbourhood as a great way to experience Edinburgh. On a previous trip we stayed near the Royal Mile, but this was a refreshing change, away from the tourist crowds!
This a fantastic flat to start our holiday in Scotland. The flat was spacious enough for our family of four to comfortably live for 10 days. We enjoyed walking to Stockbridge, New Town, the botanic gardens and up to Princes St gardens for our children to play. It was spotlessly clean and fitted out with quality linens, comfy beds and all the necessary items for us to enjoy our stay. Great Base were great to deal with and always responded promptly to queries. We couldn’t recommend this experience highly enough!
This is a perfect Mews flat in a quiet location in the West End for one person or a couple to explore Edinburgh - walking distance of all the sights and plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Close to the tram and railway station too. Modern fit-out - habitat style - very clean with everything you need (apart from a washing machine!). We did have a wee problem with a door and the Management Company fixed it immediately - excellent service and support from Greatbase Apartments. Thank you and enjoy!
This is a lovely two bed two bathroom apartment located on the first floor. It’s spacious and well equipped. Good quality furnishings, comfy sofas and beds. Katie from Great Base was very helpful, as always. We spent a week there enjoying Edinburgh and The Fringe before heading over to the West Coast and up into the Highlands.
We had a great time in Edinburgh, the location war perfect for us three, just in the center; had everything we needed.
The toilet seat didn’t stay up for a gentleman using it. Some lamps needed extension cords. The television wasn’t easy to use. Lack of coasters to protect the tables. Placemats for the dining table would be nice. Shower door didn’t stay closed. Need more space in bathroom for toiletries. Need a wardrobe in the main bedroom to hang up clothes (suits, dresses). I would suggest moving the chest of drawers to the left of the fireplace in order to make room for a wardrobe. Slightly larger bedside tables in main bedroom.
The cottage is very nice and attractive. It had all of the amenities that were promised. There was even milk in the refrigerator and the necessities to make coffee and tea. It is in a quiet, safe feeling neighborhood. It was only a short walk to the bus stop to get to the center of town. The young lady who met us at check in was courteous and helpful. There is a grocery and a pharmacy at the corner within walking distance which was convenient. The only drawback was a lack of a place to put your luggage in the small twin bedroom.
Keep an eye out, the gifted apple is broken. The landlord is very nice, thank you for your help that day.
Mold smell all through Appartments liked the location lots of lnformation and directions people were very friendly and helpful
Wonderful reception and clear access instructions. Marvellous apartment in a marvellous location....
Terrific little apartment in Grassmarket. It's quiet and compact and has most things you'd need for a short stay. It is a late check-in (3-4pm) so bear this in mind and they cannot store luggage. Nice views from the windows. Nice and warm, good shower, lovely comfy bed and nice linens. I would certainly go there again.
Jamaica Lane, which we booked through Greatbase Apartments Ltd, was the perfect spot for our singing weekend in Edinburgh. The staff at Greatbase were helpful and friendly and provided above and beyond the level of service they might be expected to. We were slightly late arriving, delayed train, but the lady who was waiting to show us round could not have been kinder and more patient. The property has the benefit of a garage which guests can use, a scarcity in central Edinburgh. It almost seemed a shame that we had travelled by train so couldn't take advantage of it. The lane is very quiet, in...more
Thank you for helping organise a wonderfully relaxing few days. The apartment was very well appointed
Located just off the Royal Mile, this 6th floor apartment is beautifully furnished with bespoke furniture, modern kitchen and bathroom. Fantastic views over the parks and new town. Easy access by lift direct to the apartment. Short walk to many attractions and restaruants. Enjoy.
Great place to stay, just a minute from the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace. The secure car parking was an added bonus. Everything from booking to arival was stress free. The apartment was very comfortable, with all the usual amenities, and feels really cosy after a day out seeing the sights. Would definitely book again!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the High Riggs apartment. Walking distance from all the major attractions. Apartment had everything to make us feel at home. Kitchen very functional with everything one would need. Grocery store approx 100 yds from the apartment made the vacation very economical. Highly recommended for vacationers on a budget.
Upon reservation, the host informed us of all information about the trip, including Edinburgh, accommodation, and warehousing. It was very reliable and there were many convenience points. The bed is hidden in the closet in the living room, and we put it down and used it when we slept. The location of the accommodation, the host, the beauty, everything was perfect.
Four of us stayed here for the last weekend of the Festival in 2019. Met by Maeve who was very friendly and explained a few simple housekeeping items with the apartment. Great location - 2 minutes walk from the end of the tram line at York Place - slightly more getting back to the tram as it is uphill! Apartment block looks great from the street - proper New Town House with a functional common stair. Inside was light and airy, 2 doubles (1 can be split into 2 singles) and a cosy single. Spacious hall way, lovely reception room and a great kitchen with all you will need. It is up stairs o...more
Nettes Appartment in ruhiger Lage, sehr gute Busanbindung, zu Fuß halbe Stunde zur Innenstadt, genügend Pubs und Frühstückslokale in der Nähe
The apartment was perfect for our needs. The only problem was the man who met us there to give us keys really wasn't very helpful. I was told on an email it would be one of two ladies meeting us and instead it was a man so that was a bit odd in this day and age not knowing who he was, but ok since there were three of us. Once in the apartment he said this unit had no instructions on using the washing machine which would have been a problem since we are not familiar with this type, but in searching the cupboards we did find the manual. Then he said the heater (furnace) was the water heater and ...more
Lovely traditional feeling apartment with modern bathrooms. We stayed in November and it was lovely and warm. Great location, further from the madness of Princess Street but still within walking distance. Shops and a couple of small bars, cafes nearby. I’d stay here again.
This New Town Georgian flat was just perfect for our needs. Nicely decorated and with mostly good facilities. We had some small issues - little storage space, no waste bins in the bedrooms - and a slightly bigger one concerning the novel shower in the second bedroom. Full points for the imaginative solution but without a curtain it was impossible not to flood the room after a shower. Getting in and (especially) out was a challenge. We may not be that young and flexible but for anyone, particularly children, it could be dangerous. But........we enjoyed every minute there and would stay again...more
We had some heating problems with one room too bad First class and residential district Rest perfect
Handy location for both the station and the city centre. Lovely views. Some noise from passing sirens but the doubleglazing takes care of the worst of it. Comfortable, well furnished, nice soft beds, well equipped kitchen except for lack of corkscrew! (hopefully now sorted). You do need to be reasonably fit to manage the four flights of stairs.
Castle Terrace offered a wonderful 'home base' for sightseeing in Edinburgh and for the Fringe festival. It was walking distance to everything we wanted to see, so very conveniently located close to groceries and restaurants. The flat was clean and bright with lots of windows and a sparkling kitchen. It had a comfortable living area, though a bit small. There was plenty of room in the bedrooms and the temperature was comfortable. Our host met us on time, we were late due to train and rain. There were some fruits and cookies as well as tea and milk. We were very grateful for the snacks. ...more
Over all, we really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful back drop of the castle which was neat. My only problem was there was always a smell of mold. You could see there was water leakage on the ceiling that hadn't been attended to. It was a short stay for us so it was good for the amount of time.
This is an attractive apartment which has many useful features including a dishwasher, washing machine, television, wifi. It is also a close to restaurants, shops, the castle, the university, and the train station. The only drawback is that the apartment is very small, especially when the fold-away bed is open. With 2 people it is very difficult to move around the room.
