My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tan Llan Cottage. It was clean & full of 'old world' charm. Our host/landlady was very friendly & full of information & she had left an incredibly full 'welcome pack' for us. If we come to N. Wales again we will definitely stay there again !
This cottage was comfortable and clean, the dogs loved the secure garden. The host was lovely and helpful as were the neighbours and all made us extremely welcome, what a lovely community. The Location is wonderful with stunning views and a lovely walk up the mountain behind, the hose provided clear instructions at to the paths to follow. It is well situated for trips out to either the beach at Blackrock Sands or out into the stunningly beautiful countryside. There is plenty of room both inside the cottage and out with good parking. We had a paddleboard and blow up boat with us and there was r...more
Lovely spacious well equipped property in a great location in Barmouth. Had a lovely holiday here and will definitely return.
From the time you arrive until the time you leave, this place feels homely, it's presented very clean and meets with every bit of functionality. The host is exceptional. We stayed a full week and we're able to relax and use this ideally located apartment as a base to explore Snowdonia and North Wales. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic time here will come again...very clean place..beautiful views from garden ..beach 10 minutes away...residents of village are so friendly really nice place..thank you for a lovely stay Glyn
What an amazing place. Dafydd was so friendly and helpful and the house was cosy and had everything we needed. The surrounding area was breathtaking and we all enjoyed the seclusion and peace. The children loved building a damn and the Dog had the freedom to roam free . I can’t recommend this place enough and we will definitely be returning. Plenty to do within the grounds and a great base for exploring North Wales and Anglesey. Thank you so much .. this was exactly the break we all needed
The location of this well equipped cottage is brilliant. Several walks from the door plus Zip Works walkable too. Amazing garden although it is on an incline so decent mobility needed. The hot tub has stunning views and was most welcome after some long hikes. Comfy beds. Well equipped kitchen, garden, games room and utility shed. You'll need to duck under doorways if you are of average height or more but it is a cottage after all! Footpath past the house to town cuts out the need to use the car so much and cuts off time from GOOGLE maps. The owner called a couple of days before we arrived to...more
A warm welcome and a very good place to stay. The accommodation was very well appointed and comfortable. A most enjoyable stay .
This is the second time we have stayed here . Dowlais and Zig Zag cottage are perfectly located to visit the many attractions in Snowdonia from the beaches to the mountains. Friendly owners and well equipped accommodation.
We visited with my parents who have slight mobility issues and this cottage was perfect for them, comfortable, warm and cosy
The location is great for exploring Anglesey and Snowdonia and also the Lynn Peninsula. There are some fantastic off road cycle routes close to the property. The chalet was very snug and comfortable the owners are very friendly and helpful with local information and bike storage. Definitely a return visit is in order
The Cottage was in a great location for exploring the area. The cottage itself was quaint modern exceptionally clean and plenty of room for the two of us. Lovely little touches left like tea coffee milk and fruit. The owner who greeted us was very polite and chatty and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a wonderful short break and would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Great location and a lovely welcome from the owners . Zig zag is clean , comfortable and spacious. Would 100% recommend this holiday home and will be definitely visiting again as so much to do in the local area .
Staying at the Garden Flat is just the most enjoyable experience. I have stayed here many times and each time as i walk in i get this lovely welcome back feeling. It holds so many family memories for me and this is my happy place There is everything you need in the flat and if help is required the staff are always very happy to help
My husband and i had a lovely week at Oakley Cottage .It is in a lovely quiet area and has superb views. We hope to visit again as we loved it.
A lovely bungalow.Spacious,The best place we have stayed for the view, across the bay or towards Shell Island.A photographer's dream for dramatic, colourful sunsets and ever changing cloud formations.Wonderful drives into the hills or moors and walks on almost deserted beaches.Whispering Waves was a perfect place to stay to celebrate or Golden Wedding Anniversary. It was also suit a family.
The location is first class, the apartment is very well appointed, we couldn't fault it. We intend to visit again and the sun shone
We rented these 2 apartments as we were holidaying with our family members and it was ideal as the two apartments are inter connected if you want or completely self contained should you wish. both apartments are well equipped and fully furnished to a high standard. Each flat comprises of 2 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and bathroom. the downstairs flat has also an en-suite to the double bedroom. both apartments have lovely outlook at the back to the steam trains that pass the end of the garden and there are outside seating in the garden. the upstairs flat has a magnificent balcony over looking the...more
Comfortable beds, spacious kitchen, huge bath, lovely view. Sofa and chair comfortable. Would appreciate a tin opener and more coat hangers. Beware the sloping ceilings especially in the main bedroom, the unwary (like me) could bang their head if not concentrating. Even so this would not stop me staying here again.
What a lovely place to stay wish we could of stayed longer the cottage was so nice & cosy & had everything you need for a little getaway was brilliant what a lovely place to stay will definitely book this again & it’s right by the castle so the view was awesome & the beach 30min walk would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Wonderful location and perfect for our party of 10. We enjoyed our stay at Talwrn Bach which was clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. Good location for Harlech, Barmouth, Snowdon and beaches.
Anne and mick are a lovely couple who were on hand to meet us as we arrived. The cottage is just stunning I cannot fault it at all the cleanliness was outstanding as was the whole cottage and the garden area is simply beautiful it’s located in a beautiful location close to so much places to explore either by foot or car. We had a wonderful holiday but the cottage and Ann and mick made it perfect. If we could ever come back we definitely would and we have returned home now wishing we were still at the cottage. Thank you Ann and mick.
Somson's Place is a very comfortably modern bungalow, every thing is there that you need for a perfect holliday. Morfa bychan has many very pleasant walks with miles of beach and coastal walk with Cricceth, Borth y guest and Porthmadock an easy walk.
The cottage was clean and very comfy we had a great stay there. Bed comfortable and lovely soft towels. The garden is beautiful and the view over the fence wonderful.
Comfortable and warm, bearing in mind this was December! Although the electricity is metered it cost us a lot less than expected even though we used the oven a lot - the air source heat pump, underfloor heating and insulation are obviously well designed as we were never cold. We’ve been visiting Aberdesach for over 35 years so the exceptional views were no surprise. Still one of our favourite places
Having previously visited in October 2019 and 2021 (COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 prevented a visit then), a return autumn visit is a must. This is a really cosy apartment and was ideal for the two of us. An easy walk around Porthmadog, to the shop and of course to Porthmadog Harbour station for trains to Blaenau Ffestiniog, Tanybwlch, Beddgelert and Caernarfon. On this visit we saw that work was in progress for an outdoor stair case to the decking from the parking area. For the electric car owners, there are now two charging points. Not sure what company they are paired with, as we are did not...more
This was such a lovely cottage, amazing views and lovely locations. We spent most of our time there in the conservatory looking at the views. It was very clean when we arrived. We hope to stay there again. Thank you
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was well equipped and very bright and airy. It is close to the town and all the amenities but also nice and quiet. Near enough the National Park for walking in the hills and the coast for coastal walks
This place was ideal for us, modern and spacious . It was very well equipped. Location is perfect for North Wales exploration. Walking distance to caernarfon. I would love to stay here again.
The property has everything that you need for a week away. The location is stunning, there are plenty of walks that can be done right from the property. If you love exploring then the slate mines are amazing. I would highly recomend go below underground adventures if you like adrenaline pumping adventure. The only bad thing about the property was that the beds could have been more comfortable but apart from that its a great place to stay.
A very warm, welcoming and cosy cottage. Loved watching the dippers in the river and relaxing on the patio in the February sunshine. The cottage has everything you need and the beds were very comfortable. Great location for many walks from the door and for popping into Beddgelert for a drink or a meal. We were lucky to have amazing weather, showing the mountains of Eryri in all their glory! It was the perfect place for a week of much needed rest and relaxation. Would love to return. Thank you.
Great view provided of the harbour from the rental property. It was clean, tidy and well represented for our stay. Well done everybody concerned.
We had a lovely break, perfectly situated on the front at Barmouth, sandcastles is a lovely apartment. This was our second visit. And we will be back again. Thing that could be better. The sofas are a little low and the chairs in the bay windows where you want to spend most of your time are uncomfortable. Pong chairs possibly a better option. But all in all just what the Doctor orders..
In a week of very wet weather we really appreciated the location & comfort of River's Edge. Very well equipped (we cooked on 5 nights) and close to pretty much everything. On downpour days it was interesting to watch the comings and goings in the harbour...although windscreen wipers might have been useful on a couple of occasions! Lots of helpful tips from the owner, and good service from STS. The keycode box is not the most user-friendly, but that was our only small gripe. We hope to return.
Have been staying at this property on and off for 50years. Been under different ownerships in this period. Always satisfird. The current owners maintaining to very high cleanliness and facilities excellent. Only complaint is the TV reception, very poor needs attention
Love this place. Have been returning here once or twice a year for several years. Location is perfect and it is very well equipped.
The cottage was equipped with everything we needed spotless very cosy friendly owners gave us some useful advice on places to visit and the best places for eat which we found very helpful which all added to a fantastic week in Wales. Regards Mrs Mchale
A lovely location. Would just recommend bedside tables to place books, drink etc on in the main double bedroom.
We enjoyed another comfortable week at Oakley Views, our second visit. Welcome of milk, welsh cakes and flowers was appreciated. The apartment is perfect for the two of us with direct views to the Heritage Train Station (which we come for) but also to the estuary for bird spotting, which we also enjoy very much. The heating and water controls are easy to use and don't need to be on for long for comfort. We enjoy shopping in the High Street - the butcher and fishmonger are particularly good and the kitchen has everything needed to make all our meals. We hope to return as we know that a clean, c...more
We have had another lovely stay. The fishing was good much to the delight of husband and son. The house was comfy and warm the balcony is so nice to sit and enjoy the sound of the river. A comfy armchair or small sofa in the dinning hall would help those of us who struggle with the stairs. We lookk forward to our next visit.
We stayed for 5 nights here and had a lovely stay. Firstly, the location is perfect, the village itself is beautiful with lots of lovely walks and within easy distance to snowdon and zip world, both of which we made full use of. The cottage itself was great. Facilities were good, comfy beds and all ammenities, even bowls for our dog. We would definitly stay again.
I have lost count now how many times our family have visited this cottage. Its just perfect for a cheeky getaway. Warm, Clean, Spacious, Well equipped, top location, Pubs close by, River and mountain views, I am hesitant to leave a review as everyone will book it and there wont be availability for me :-) PERFECT stay for us yet again.
Great position on harbour. Very clean and bright. As others have commented instructions for use of appliances, TV, oven etc would help considerably! Shelves in kitchen very high a stepping stool would certainly be a bonus!
We had a lovely week in this beautiful little apartment, very well equipped, attention to detail much appreciated. Perfect location, the views from just outside are stunning.
Excellent property. Everything you could possibly need provided. Area at the back provided a football net for the boys. People mention problems with TV but we accessed what we needed! Turn right outside the door and cross a small road. Go through the gap between the cafe and you are on the sea front. Very quaint quiet resort. There are no shops but Porthmadog is a very short drive away or 15 minute walk. We fetched fish and chips from there to eat on the benches on the sea front. Very central for visiting other parts of Wales. One slight negative it says parking for two cars. Bit tight if y...more
Great location, comfortable bed with lovely duvet. Shower curtain would be better moved out about 6 inches.
We enjoyed another stay at Harbour Station View. The flat is perfectly sited, comfortable and well appointed. My only gripe re. this visit is that the crockery and utensils were not all properly clean. ...eg. tea stains in the mugs. We had to wash all before use. Apart from that I am happy to recommend Harbour Station View.
We had a lovely holiday, the flat was well equipped and comfortable, the only downside was the kitchen equipment could have been cleaner, the bowl and drainer rack was greasy, the microwave was not cleaned after use and was rusty, we could not use it, we did report this and was told it would be replaced, this did not turn up before the end of our holiday.
Excellent stay again only fault was with television which kept being faulty reported it on Monday they said it was the aerial lead & would sort it out and nobody came or got in touch as we had no signal all week we managed to watch tax occasionally & the leads were left out of the cover on the wall
It was my second time in this flat. The views are amazing even on a rubbish day.It was February after all.The flat is well equipped and contains most things you could need. There is plenty of birdlife to watch I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them go about their business and as you are high up they don't notice you and the town is busy with locals and tourists alike.I'll live there if anyone gives me the chance! I only gave it one less point for condition as there was expanding foam untrimmed on the balcony that I kept catching my foot on but I'm sure as it is winter it was just waiting to be finishe...more
Had a lovely week at this apartment weather was mixed but did not spoil our break as it nice to see the changing scene of the harbour the accommodation itself was cosy and warm and comfortable and had everything we needed ,myself being disabled found it very suitable will certainly ask for this apartment again on future visits to the area.
Loverly welcome cakes, tea and coffee, well equipped accommodation that’s extremely comfortable with fantastic views of the harbour. Grate location within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants. Plenty of good walks and Pet friendly
The Chalet was cute work well for 3 adults, it had everything you needed. The views where just amazing, there was so many places around the area to go grate seafood restaurants, but just as happy to spend the day looking at the view. Fantastic for family's and couples. Booked for next year before we left.
On paper , this accommodation is unimpressive - a bit old, a bit remote, no WiFi... In reality it is wholly magical. Enter the jolly yellow door and a cozy , well equipped and surprisingly roomy awaits. Unpretentious but so very welcoming. Beds all comfy. No idea about the telly - we never switched it on. Instead we sat in the charming front yard entranced by the glory of the view, and the intimacy of the ocean. Perfect , genuinely perfect for lovers of peace. A week here removed my troubles as surely as any drug. Magical sunsets, visits from dolphins, all just magical. One of the bes...more
very satisfactory and ideally located for the Ffestiniog Welsh Highland Railways. Nice view over the harbour
We had a wonderful holiday. The bungalow was very clean and comfortable. The bedding was excellent and beds comfortable but could do with a second pillow on the twin beds. The kitchen was obviously newly fitted and really nice but could do with more glasses, mugs and cutlery. Also another (larger) saucepan, measuring jug and casserole dish.We managed but making gravy in a mug for instance isn’t ideal. A milk saucepan too would be good. Also a washing line and please, please a bath mat (nobody takes one of them on holiday with them!). Bath, shower and hot water all excellent. The location and...more
A very comfortable cottage, well equipped and in a delightful location. Perfect for using as a base to explore Snowdonia
We had a wonderful family holiday in Gestania House. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we wanted, just would have liked some drawers for clothes in the second double bedroom. It was lovely to have three showers The location is amazing, perfect for the beaches and the bay. We loved to sit on the bslcony and look at the fantastic views across to the water and mountains. We would definitely stay there again.
A lovely converted cottage , if you want a week of complete rest , tranquility, amazing views and see only the occasional other human being, you will love this place.
Very good would use again great spot good size and good quality fittings , shower of good quality but not user friendly.
Fantastic spot, glad we found it for our new years shindig. The property is conveniently located and allows comfortably discovering snowdonia (if you have a car, not sure if you're going by train). The facilities exceed all expectations - covered hottub with a roof is a godsend on rainy days, so is a woodfired stove. The kitchen has an oven and all the cooking basics. The beds are comfy, and the place also has heating in case the house is still cold. The only point of improvement would be the level of cleanliness, I recommend taking slippers to wear on the ground floor, and the dishes needed a...more
Family of four, just fitted - was small, but perfectly kitted out. Lots of cooking, and the kitchen had the full range of usable utensils. Always a bug bear of mine when they don't! The cottage was easy to find once we had worked out that Ysgold is welsh for school. The hosts are local and we were able to chat to them if needed (we didn't but chatted anyway). The cottage is very comfortable, and the hosts warm personality shone throughout. Didn't take full advantage of the pizza oven! The location is BEAUTIFUL! As it was our first time (as a family) in that area, we chose to do the tourist tra...more
Borth y Gest and surrounding areas are excellent for beach, and walking holidays and the house is well placed for both. Property is spacious, with good sized rooms. some furniture close to end of life (eg bedroom wardrobes), but generally ok. Access will make it difficult for some, and garden is also unsuitable for some. Note also that it isn't fully enclosed. Overall, had a great holiday and would certainly consider returning.
Stopped here first week in October 2022 and loved every minute. The place is set in a fantastic location only 2 mins from beautiful beach. The views from the lounge are breathtaking and as it’s south facing always warm. The sea fishing is fantastic and the size of the sea bass is amazing
It's the second time at jacks and it was good to be there great for town and watching trains 10/10
We had a fabulous time in Porthmadog, the view from the apartment was spectacular, what a treat to wake up overlooking the harbour and watching the world go by. Would recommend the stay absolutely....
Little blip with storage heater when first arrived but sorted next day, excellent service. The views are breathtaking. And got to see many migrating birds. The recliner chairs! I want them! the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in. Thank you for wonderful stay we will be back, just to sit in those chairs
This is an excellent place to stay. The views are brilliant especially that of t the railway. This is our second time and we will be back. The service received from std supplemented the holiday.
Fantastic location overlooking the sea with a lovely garden having a raised decked area. Everything was catered for in the bungalow with lots of information given about the area. Very clean and comfortable. A short walk to a beautiful beach. Will definitely be returning.
We enjoy our visits to North Wales, as it offers a variety of interesting walks, activities and a friendly environment. This flat is a great base for these activities, especially as we enjoy visiting the Ffestiniog railway, and the local seaside, as well the occasional mountain walk when the weather permits. The views over the estuary are stunning, and constantly changing with the tide. We enjoy recording the different birds every year, and occasionally see some rarer species, which is great fun. Sitting out on the balcony just watching the tide is very relaxing! This flat is compact, but...more
A well equipped, small apartment in a lovely location within walking distance of the town centre. The apartment was clean and tidy,
The location was fantastic and nice and peaceful. Loads of walks straight from your doorstep, only met a few people whilst out walking. Would definitely go back.
Sea breeze house is in a convenient location with accessible woodland behind where it is ideal to walk your dog, especially on hot days, as it was when we stayed there. The house is very attractive inside with modern kitchen and shower room. The furniture/ carpets etc are in excellent condition and it is well equipped throughout. We had a comfortable and relaxed stay and would happily return another year.
The accommodation was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Lovely views over the harbour with all ameneties just a shortwalk away. Surrounded by beautiful sceneery. All round satisfaction and will certainly book to go back again.
A small but warm and cosy cottage. Everything you need to self cater. Excellent view and walks from the front door.
Lovely and cheery cottage in a great location. Plenty of excellent walks from the cottage or within a short drive. Close to Shell Island and other great beaches at Harlech & Barmouth. Harlech Castle is nearby and definitely worth a visit. Victoria Pub is less than ten minutes walk serving good food and excellent beer at a fair price. Artro valley going up to Llyn Cwm Bychan and the Roman Steps is fabulous although the road is very narrow with passing places. Another must is the Mawddach estuary bridge and Mawddach Way from Barmouth with spectacular views. Hope to return soon and would definite...more
Probably the best location in Porthmadog. The flat is decently equipped. The soft seating in the main room is really comfortable, and gives you the best view you could ask for.
Perfect cottage to stay in Beddgelert. Very comfortable including the double bed. The kitchen fully equipped for our needs. Couldn’t fault anything apart from there being no guest book which is always useful to see where other guests had visited or which restaurants they had eaten at. Would definitely stay at Quarryman’s cottage again.
This is typical of traditional Welsh cottages in the area, retaining much of its character whilst having been sensitively modernised. The accommodation is as shown and described in the STS website. (The garden and rotary washing line were not available to us during our stay for safety reasons.) The quiet location and friendly but not intrusive neighbour were much appreciated. There are lovely destinations for all tastes and abilities within easy reach of the cottage and we ran out of time in our two weeks before we ran out of things to do. We were very lucky with the weather. Don't miss the...more
We had a lovely stay. Property well presented, clean and tidy. All correspondence with STS efficient with good directions. Amazing views out over the estuary. Walk into town in minutes. Kitchen well equipped. Only negatives: lots of different controls for heaters, water, towel rail, underfloor heating etc was a bit confusing. Shower not the best -hot but not very powerful at all. Would love to come back in warmer weather and sit out on the balcony. Thanks Anchor Watch for a lovely stay.
The house is large, warm and comfortable. Well equipped and with fabulous views of the Snowdonia range. Very handy for the town and supermarkets. Would definitely book again
Love it. Not for everyone. Views. Remoteness. Peace. Super comfortable. Bed and sheets were great. Hot tub was a win. Customer service was great
We had a lovely weeks stay thank you . Just a few notes , a small non stick saucepan would be useful please. There was plenty of crockery/mugs and cutlery. The king size bed was very comfortable but could be much improved with quality bedding . We had fabulous weather but we were unable to sit outside at the back to relax or eat due to the extremely uncomfortable outdoor furniture. We ended up buying a pair of fold up chairs !! The cottage location is perfect and we've stayed in Porthmadog many times at various properties . The local Welsh hill and coastal walks are the best !!
A warm and comfortable cottage in a very convenient position not only for Porthmadog but also for visiting Snowdonia and the Llŷn Peninsular. There are lovely seating areas outside for when the weather permits and the views from the front of the cottage are fantastic. There is an abundant supply of hot water and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. We have stayed here several times already and certainly intend to come back again.
This was a lovely comfortable apartment. The location was ideal. It was well equipped. We brought our little dog, and it was a shame there is no private outside space. However we did have a lovely stay.
Loved the property, had great character and plenty of room for 13 of us. I would recommend that the owners look at providing fans in the height of the season due to the rooms being very hot, and although a hoover is in the property to keep tidy a mop and bucket would be useful too. (Maybe there was one but we couldn't locate it) The pool was fantastic a good size that could accommodate a large family, much fun was had here. A wonderful holiday with lots of laughter. The property was just ideal and at a reasonable price. I would look at returning in the future with my family.
As soon as I walked in the front door I loved the cottage. So homely and comfy. Great patio on the riverbank with amazing views. 2 minutes walk to the shop and pubs in beautiful Beddgelert. Everything you need for a holiday in Wales. Will definitely be returning in winter when we can sit in front of the lovely fire.
Great base to tour Snowdonia, a few pubs and very nice pizza parlour, there's also a bistro for food and drinks. A selection of walks from Beddgelert means you dont have to use the car. But make sure you pack for all weathers.
Great views of Porthmadog, the harbour, steam railway and mountains. Free on street parking, near the town centre with a short walk to Borth y Gest.
Enjoyed this particular holiday let for over eleven years, approximately twenty weeks of stays in this period. Difficult to find any negatives! Noticed neighbours understandably getting touchy regarding the parking, several now dictating there parking frontage with cones to deter. Also previously approached to move car when outside a neighbours frontage. Unfortunately the downside of living in a popular tourist destination.
A good convenient location which we enjoy. Some attention to detail still needed, requires new kitchen bin and outside light, and wifi would be useful.
I’ve visited borth y gest all my life and the location never fails to amaze me. The property was lovely the decor was tasteful and it was clean apart from a few cobwebs which we all have. The bed mattresses aren’t the best we could feel the springs and the shower had a slight leak but that aside I have no complaints it felt like home from home and provided myself and my family all the home comforts for our well deserved holiday.
We were not able to go and sadly were not able to get a reimbursement from cottages.com. I will not book with them again.
We have stayed in this flat before, it is well equipped with breathtakingly views. Watching the sun rise over the cob is spectacular. The flat needs a deep clean , the cleaner does a good job in her allotted time it really needs a good clean, skirting boards for example, rug is filthy. Mould is a health hazard for folk with breathing problems. However we had a great holiday.
We stayed at Butterfly Chalet on a site we know well as the chalet we have stayed in over previous years was not available. The chalet was very clean and well looked after, plenty of space for us all and situated on a lovely site. It was very quiet and relaxing, especially at night, and the site is very close to a number of fab places that kept the kids entertained. We will definitely stay at Butterfly chalet again.
We have stayed at Topdeck a number of times over the last few years. We have noticed the property becoming less well maintained. We have reported a number of faults on the last stay. On this stay the shower was still almost impossible to turn on. The washbasin waste was still broken. The decor needs to be freshened up and skirting boards cleaned especially in bathroom. No towels were provided due to Covid regulations , but the mattress protectors on bed had not been laundered. The pillows smelled of sweat and had no pillow protectors. I think this is a greater risk of Covid than not supplying ...more
A nice well appointed bungalow. Good position Plenty of space Needs outside attention for summer . We were a little disappointed as the internet didn’t work all week for the tv despite several engineers and a cherry picker attending the house most of Wednesday which was in itself slightly invasive . Although we were warned an engineer was due nothing on the scale it turned out to be was expected.
A lovely cottage in a quiet and idyllic location. Very comfortable and clean with plenty of room. The owner made us feel very welcome and at ease as soon as we arrived
We revisited Beddgelert after a 40 year absence having spent many weekends there in the past. We found the village unspoilt and yet with all amenities for a visitor or tourist. There are plenty of places for evening meals, snacks etc and a tardis of a village shop which sells most things one is likely to have forgotten. The cottage itself, Can yr Afon, is made special by it's location and garden. It is on the edge of the village; just a five minute walk to the centre. One boundary of the garden is the river which changes from peaceful gurgles to roaring depending on how full it is. The garden...more
Nothing fancy to see here, but a comfy enough small flat in an *excellent* location. Bed sheets provided, but not towels.
Location of the property couldn’t be faulted. However the cleaning was poor, the dishwasher hadn’t been checked, was full of dirty, smelly water and wasn’t working. Downstairs kitchen & bathroom were very good but the upstairs bathroom and bedrooms need to be completely updated and the windows were unpainted and dirty. The beds were comfortable unlike the sofas downstairs.
The cottage was very cluttered. It is small anyway but the space felt more cramped as there was far too much furniture in there, e.g. a stool behind the bathroom door which meant you couldn't open it properly; another unnecessary stool in the kitchen blocking the freezer, and too many chairs in the sitting room (seating for 7 including 2 dining room chairs). The cottage also didn't seem very clean and some surfaces felt a bit sticky to the touch. The essential places - cooker, bathroom sink and bath, kitchen sink - were clean so that was good. The cupboards were really disorganised and overflo...more
