This cottage was comfortable and clean, the dogs loved the secure garden. The host was lovely and helpful as were the neighbours and all made us extremely welcome, what a lovely community. The Location is wonderful with stunning views and a lovely walk up the mountain behind, the hose provided clear instructions at to the paths to follow. It is well situated for trips out to either the beach at Blackrock Sands or out into the stunningly beautiful countryside. There is plenty of room both inside the cottage and out with good parking. We had a paddleboard and blow up boat with us and there was r...more
I am so biased because it's my village. I have never seen a view better than what you see from the back and front of the cottage. The cottage itself is as it was years ago but tastefully renovated for comfort and warmth. It's in the Snowdonia National Park so it has to remain a certain way. It is special with special people in charge of it. It's beautiful
Lovely spacious well equipped property in a great location in Barmouth. Had a lovely holiday here and will definitely return.
This is the second time my family adi have stayed here. It is an absolute gem of a place. It is comfortable and cosy and has everything you can think of. Including amazing views in the front and beautiful countryside in the back. It is in an amazing spot to use as a base everything is reached quickly. Thank you to the owner as it allows my growing family to have some amazing family time! Loved it.
This was our second time at the house and it did not disappoint. The surroundings were amazing and we explored the nearest peak to see views for miles. The children loved rafting in bodyboards down the river and exploring the copper mines. We visited some attractions such as the Cysyllte aqueduct which was spectacular, some of the wonderful castles and Bodnant gardens was beautiful. Dafydd and Manon are so lovely and we enjoyed a few little chats with Dafydd who provided us with information and maps which helped us explore further. The house is cosy with everything we needed and we enjoyed...more
The cottage it's self is great for 2 people it's very clean and well looked after and very comfy ,it's situated around a mile walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the town (uphill). Chris the owner is very friendly and helpful ,we will definitely stay there again 10/10 from me.
Very cosy little chalet. Perfectly placed for exploring the area. Anglesey, Snowdon, Porthmadog and the trains all within short driving distances, as well as Portmeirion. Elaine and Richard go out of their way to be welcoming.
A lovely, restful place to stay with a superb view of the mountains and busy river. 5 mins' walk to everything. Comfortable, cosy, well-equipped accommodation with a patio to sit on and watch the boats and trains. Adjacent to a ship chandlers which adds to the interest with friendly staff going about their work. Not an intrusion on your stay. We have every intention of going there again.
Baby to Grandparents plus 3 dogs - plenty of space for all. The pool table went down well too. The house had plenty of essentials particularly in the kitchen. The dining table on the mezzanine above the main room encouraged sitting down together rather than the more normal TV trays. The garden was huge great for the kids to run around in, plus garden furniture. All in all a great hideaway, very little noise, but in the center of lots of well known places in North Wales.
The accommodation was excellent and having the two flats ideal for our family. Daughters, partners and baby upstairs and we were downstairs with mum. Gwen is an amazing host. Very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The garden is lovely and great seeing the trains go past each day. We will definitely return.
A lovely bungalow in an idyllic setting in Morfa Bychan. Clean and spacious well equipped place. Would love to go back and stay again.
It was our first time to Porthmadog. The apartment was situated in a stunning position by the harbour. With all amenities close by. Very dog friendly eating places. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely return for another holiday.
What a lovely place to stay wish we could of stayed longer the cottage was so nice & cosy & had everything you need for a little getaway was brilliant what a lovely place to stay will definitely book this again & it’s right by the castle so the view was awesome & the beach 30min walk would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Comfortable beds, spacious kitchen, huge bath, lovely view. Sofa and chair comfortable. Would appreciate a tin opener and more coat hangers. Beware the sloping ceilings especially in the main bedroom, the unwary (like me) could bang their head if not concentrating. Even so this would not stop me staying here again.
A cosy clean and comfortable cottage set in a very quiet village. The only problem we had, was that the garden was not enclosed so we were not able to let our dog run around unsupervised.
We had a comfortable stay. The bungalow has a beautiful view and is generally very clean and comfortable. We had very rainy, windy weather for most of our stay so couldn't use the garden areas. The surrounding area is very beautiful to explore. The welcome basket was appreciated.
We have stayed at this property several times over the years. Previous visits have been in the lower flat but this time we chose the upstairs and slightly smaller flat. As members of the Ffestiniog Railway Society the location is ideal for visiting the railway with the station just a few steps away over the harbour bridge. I would point out that as we are getting older the steps up to the flat are becoming a little challenging but on arrival the STS staff were just finishing work and without any input from ourselves whisked our cases up the stairs. Thank you.
This place was ideal for us, modern and spacious . It was very well equipped. Location is perfect for North Wales exploration. Walking distance to caernarfon. I would love to stay here again.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at an Rhyd Ddu farm that truly exceeded all expectations. This hidden gem, nestled in a charming village of Beddgelert, offered an experience like no other. The photos on the listing simply do not do justice to the sheer beauty of the surroundings. From every window especially from the conservatory and the spacious outdoor patio, we treated to sweeping vistas of rolling hills, lush green valleys, and distant mountains. The added bonus was the nearby farm, where I could hear the gentle sounds of farm animals in the distance. It added to the rustic cha...more
Booking through agent (STS) very easy. Needed to make contact with owner during our stay and had immediate response to our query. Property was clean and tidy with everything we needed. Parking spot next to the apartment so easy to unload luggage. The location is very quiet and peaceful yet only a short walk to shops and amenities. The view so relaxing, no need to venture out as plenty to watch on the river. Would definitely return.
We loved the house. Comfortable, homely and welcoming. Plenty of space for our group who varied in age. We had wonderful dinners at the top of the garden watching the sunset and the 8 year old enjoyed playing in the garden. Very convenient for the station, easy walk in to Llanbedr to shop and pubs. Good base for cycle rides and walks, trips to Harlech and Barmouth.
The flat is ideally situated for visits, the views over the estuary ever changing. Very comfortable.
Very nice apartment, very good location and everything was in order.Everything we needed was available in the apartment.
Had a relaxing break in this wonderfully restored modern cottage. Everything had been well thought of. Had no issues at all. Would love to come back.
A lovely place but we were disappointed by some aspects. It was generally very clean, but the sofa and chairs were very dirty and needed a good clean. Quiet location but only yards from a carpark and other properties and much closer to a main road and accompanying road noise than expected. The photos provided had not made this clear. Wonderfully close to the beach but it was extremely rocky, and swimming, although possible, was difficult due to having to navigate large rocks and boulders. The main shower was impossible to use without flooding the floor due to the lack of a seal at the bot...more
The cottage is actually called Ivy Cottage not Riverside Cottage as it appears on the paperwork, this made picking up the keys tricky at the village shop. The cottage was quite small on first impressions but the view from the back terrace was fabulous. As we had a wonderful week of sunny weather a lot of our time was spent on the terrace watching the river scene or gazing at the stars in the evening. Well equipped kitchen and the laundry room was a great asset. The bathroom needs attention. Beddgelert is a lovely village in a prime position for mountains and coast.
Lovely cottage as described with everything you could want. Great location and well set up for visitors.
A super, well equipped cottage in a most perfect location. Having 2 separate bathrooms is great for a family of 5. The boys enjoyed having the little snug with their own tv. The balcony/terrace was most perfect for procrastinating and drinking tea! Being by the water is pure bliss. A few local amenities. Excellent footpaths straight from the door, good circular walks. Varying levels of challenge, simple to tricky. Parking was on the main road, but no problems at all.
We have stayed with STS before, and as always, the extras (additional towels for our second week) we'd requested were supplied and waiting for us. If I have a criticism it is that there are no windows that can safely be left open overnight. The location is superb with its view of the harbour and almost merits 6/5
A well equipped flat in an excellent position with plenty of space within the flat , the views across the harbour and the proximity to the Festiniog railway make it well worth a visit for families.
Immaculately clean flat with just the most wonderful view of the harbour! The owners were a joy to meet along with the amazing service provided by the agent. We had such a lovely time, we did not wish to leave and went into the agents to see if we could extend our stay but some other lucky person had already booked in. Would highly recommend this apartment as the location is first class, combined with the practicality of the flat being in the ground floor and with car parking right outside the door. There is so much to see and do both on Porthmadog itself and also further afield either by f...more
Our family of two adults and two children aged 10 and 13 really enjoyed our stay at Waterfall Cottage. The cottage has been sympathetically modernised, keeping an old fashioned feel whilst offering excellent facilities and being very well equipped. Even though the weather during our stay was a bit rubbish it didn't matter. The hot tub was a great place to chill out in the rain as was the summer house high up in the garden, which offered dramatic mountain views whatever the weather. The garden is very steep and those with young children or mobility issues would probably find accessing the s...more
Would definitely stay again. I booked by calling last minute a week before and staff were lovely. Places is easy to find and parking couldn't be better. Flat well equipped and cosy. Great new bathroom and kitchen . Tv and WIFI worked well Location couldn't be better for shops , restaurants takeaways and of course the little train so we didn't venture too far. easy work to Borth y Gest which is a lovely place along the coastal walk Only cons were a couple of maint issues. The front door is a bit stiff , the radiator in the bathroom wouldn't heat up and the double mattress wasn...more
We stayed for 5 nights here and had a lovely stay. Firstly, the location is perfect, the village itself is beautiful with lots of lovely walks and within easy distance to snowdon and zip world, both of which we made full use of. The cottage itself was great. Facilities were good, comfy beds and all ammenities, even bowls for our dog. We would definitly stay again.
Have stayed here twice before. A lovely flat in with excellent amenities. Perfectly placed in Porthmadog to be near the Steam Railway. Lots of places to eat nearby. Nice sandy Beaches.
This apartment is very well located with harbour front position and railway station close by. There is no issue with noise from the station. There is a convenient and ample car parking space for one car. During our stay there were also visitor car parking spaces available. Supermarkets Tesco, Aldi and Lidl are a short car journey away and there is a Spar shop on the town’s main street. There is access to a balcony through the living area patio doors and on the one occasion the weather permitted us to use it during our stay we found it very pleasant and relaxing. We found the pole mechanism by...more
I can't fault this wonderful apartment that has everything you need for a great stay. The apartment itself is perfect for 2 people (and a wee dog). It is comfortable, quiet and very convenient for the town. It has the most stunning views from the living room and balcony across the estuary (you can see Harlech Castle opposite if you use the binoculars provided) even the bedroom window at the back has a view of the harbour and also you can see the steam engines being refuelled. From the front you can watch the trains puff in and out of the station all day. Porthmadog itself is a lovely wee town ...more
A wonderful week away staying at the artists cottage providing Breathtaking views surrounded by mountains, and walking distance from Portmerion. The cottage is delightful and suitably equipped ( although in need of some modernisation ). Highly recommended :)
Balcony furniture, chair broken, other furniture in poor condition,STS offered to replace chair.Plug in shower broken, reported to STS.Four bath towells, and two hand towells in two bathrooms,is not enough, need hand towell each.
Easy for for shop, travel and nice places for walking Bus service to other destinations excellent and fares very good
We are family of 5. Have just had a wonderful stay at Captain's Rest. Perfect location overlooking the harbour in Porthmadog. We walked to the beach at Borth y Gest everyday (10 min walk) Short walk into Porthmadog for shops and restaurants. The apartment is well equipped and had everything we needed. Loved the view from the balcony. We would definitely stay here again!
We visit every year and this year didn’t disappoint. Fantastic house, great location, lovely people.
The accommodation was clean and comfortable and very accessible. will book again. Minor suggestion: Bushes in the front garden need trimming down as they mask the wonderful view over the harbour Provision of bedding and linen very welcome
Great location, lovely appartment, only negative is dodgy tv but prompt practical help from Dan at STS
Plastic disposable cups in Bath room not glass or China as slate floors. Even some of the basics salt pepper etc, on hand when you get there. Having used other holiday companies they provide tea coffee milk bread butter condiments cheese and sweet biscuits .you have paid for them in the price but when get there you have something. Just a suggestion ,I am sure some will disagree , but after travelling its nice to get there unload chill before you need to shop.
This is the second year that we have stayed here ,again the weather was fantastic, the location is peaceful but there are lots to see (sea birds ,fish etc) and shops are nearby. Again we had a lovely holiday and enjoyed the location. Since we visited last year (June 2022) there have been some improvements to the apartment. New interior doors have been fitted and a new external door. The balcony decking has been replaced, and there are some new pictures on the walls ,along with a blackout blind in the main bedroom and new curtains in both bedrooms. We love the location and this is the second lo...more
We had a lovey stay at Oakley Mews, very comfortable accommodation, everything was catered for, excellent location, only seconds walk from the harbour, I would definitely recommend this property. I would not hesitate to stay here again
This place was very clean and very cosy and is situated in a very good location I would recommend this to anyone.
Delighted. We hope to be back sometime soon. My wife is handicapped so getting sorted for leaving by 10 am was last minute pressure, 11 am would have been more relaxing. Pity the rain can enter onto the patio through the above one. As we had plenty of rain it meant little use could be made of it.
Very comfortable cottage in a stunning location. Had all we needed and it was tastefully furnished. We have stayed here before and look forward to returning again in the near future.
From the balcony, there's a full 180 view of the harbour and to the right different steam engines refuelling. The apartment was let down by no hot water on arrival. The pans were a disgrace and unusable and shown to a member of STS Monday morning who agreed & took photos, but we were left with them, no replacements! Lightshades that we have never seen the likes of before, and surely must be a fire hazard. As asked on departure to remove bedding I discovered badly stained pillows that made me feel physically sick. I have photos! It was that bad I got out of the bedroom leaving a bag behind. ST...more
Stunning position, very spacious, but tired and needs some TLC,decorating! No bread board, rectified by STS.No chopping boards,no sharps knives, did request! Shame ,as over many years have stayed in many properties on The Wharf ,and this could be the best!
I think it was the third time I stayed in this apartment and I still enjoyed what the apartment had to offer, such as the location and the view. So good that I would buy the apartment if an opportunity came up! I'll look forward to returning again at another time.
What do I have to say about this place. I am so happy for the time I’ve spent here with my friends. All amenities are close by pubs co-op cafes and restaurants in the town centre. There is zip world near by lots to go out and see if you like old mine and that sort of thing. I would recommend staying here for good week or a long weekend plus there’s plenty to do around the house like games room darts pool and weight machine hot tub or just sit by the fire .
Lovely apartment, facilities good, view delightful. One small improvement would be new pillows on the double bed. People were very helpful.
Lovely snug home as base for exploring the Lleyn Peninsula, (bus stop just up the road) or just for relaxing and gazing out to sea. Good communication with owner who is extremely helpful. Very peaceful, restful holiday.
Stayed here for four nights in august and took a friend from Melbourne Australia with us. It was an amazing experience and a perfect spot to visit everywhere we wanted. The most beautiful place was sitting outside on the balcony every evening watching the activity on the water with a glass in hand chilling after a wonderful day out and seeing the sun going down. Perfect and very peaceful. Would definitely recommend this place.
Firstly, the view from here is perfect, beautiful sunsets, quiet and so relaxing. I would call the accommodation a chalet not a bungalow. It was smaller than I expected but overall it was comfortable. Kitchen has everything needed to be self catering except hot water! No matter what time of day we ran the tap it was cold, dishwasher was very handy. I enjoy a bath on holiday as we don’t have one at home and again getting a hot bath was a mission. The garden as others say is not dog escape proof, we bought a wind breaker and put it across in front of our car so they couldn’t get out. ...more
Great location with views of the estuary and the railway. Well equipped accommodation everything we needed. Plenty of kitchen supplies including good dishwasher, oven and microwave, even had folder with instruction manuals in to refer to.
Wow, wow and wow. To start the location is perfect. Look out o the patio window and you have beautiful views of the harbour, look out you front window and you have beautiful views of the mountains. You are situated a stone's throw from the main town with everything you may need. Tesco, go outdoors, numerous cafes, coffee shops, general stores, paper shops ect. If you wanted to you could leave the car and not have to drive anywhere for a week. The house itself was perfect. Everything was spotlessly clean. Very tidy. Not too cluttered but at the same time had everything you could possibl...more
Sea breeze house is in a convenient location with accessible woodland behind where it is ideal to walk your dog, especially on hot days, as it was when we stayed there. The house is very attractive inside with modern kitchen and shower room. The furniture/ carpets etc are in excellent condition and it is well equipped throughout. We had a comfortable and relaxed stay and would happily return another year.
Excellent location with outstanding views. Well well equipped although would have been useful to have wi-fi.
The cottage is in a perfect spot to explore this beautiful and peaceful part of Wales. The owner kindly provided tea, coffee, sugar, milk and Welsh cakes which is thoughtful and most welcome. The cottage was clean and well presented. The garden was perfect for our dogs, sadly the weather didn’t allow us the chance to enjoy it more. The owner was really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend and look to return.
Thanks for a great stay. Great location and lovely property. Few bits to make you aware of: The front room had been cleaned but not under the table or sofa, which we did. The property has Netflix but you need an account. Might be worth referencing that in the detail. The person I spoke to when I booked was excellent. First class. I had a call when shopping with kids late Friday re the recycling. I appreciate the person I spoke to didn’t want to talk to me at 6pm before the weekend but getting hung up on was not ideal to finish our holiday experience… Wish you all the best...more
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely little flat. It is exactly as described: comfortable, we'll equipped and in good order. It is small but the location is superb, close to the shops, restaurants, heritage railways etc yet with a view to die for, and very quiet. The only sounds you hear are seabirds and the occasional steam engine!
Excellent location and generally comfortable and well equipped. Milk and bara brith on arrival much appreciated. A few niggles: broken hinge on kitchen cupboard (reported), only one front door key and no way to unlock back gate. Overall however a very enjoyable stay, despite the weather!
This is an excellent place to stay, with views from the living room across the harbour. There was ample storage in both the bedroom and kitchen, and it was very well equipped. The location is superb with only a few minutes walk to the Ffestiniog Railway and not much further to the town. It was very clean when I arrived and I would certainly stay there again.
The location & view from this apartment is amazing! The apartment is extremely spacious & has a well stocked kitchen. The lounge furniture needs updating
We had a wonderful time enjoying Borth-y-gest and the surrounding countryside. Bae Borth was a great cafe. We felt that the house could do with a bit of a spring clean- ie downstairs shower, oven etc.
Stayed in this beautiful cottage for the second year running and it is just perfect, the location is excellent and the views amazing. There is everything you need in the cottage to ensure a comfortable stay. We shall be returning again soon
Stunning location right on the beach. One of about 15 properties of varied age. Inevitably, with an old chalet it could be a little chilly, especially arriving just as an exceptional September heat wave broke. There were plenty of electrical heaters, but we had been warned they were expensive to run. Kitchen extremely well equipped and lounge very comfortable. Bathroom would benefit from some shelves for toiletries, an old table would do. Information folder would benefit from some local literature, recommended eating places, local shops etc. Perhaps a visitors book?
Lovely and cheery cottage in a great location. Plenty of excellent walks from the cottage or within a short drive. Close to Shell Island and other great beaches at Harlech & Barmouth. Harlech Castle is nearby and definitely worth a visit. Victoria Pub is less than ten minutes walk serving good food and excellent beer at a fair price. Artro valley going up to Llyn Cwm Bychan and the Roman Steps is fabulous although the road is very narrow with passing places. Another must is the Mawddach estuary bridge and Mawddach Way from Barmouth with spectacular views. Hope to return soon and would definite...more
The first time ever I have been on holiday on my own - dogs notwithstanding - and I choose the middle of nowhere at 800ft o.d.! However, I couldn't have picked a better location; the solitude, the scenery, the vast open sky (depositing it's contents on our hapless heads!) complimented the snug and cosy accomodation perfectly. Whilst scarcely requiring the skills of Ray Mears or Bear Grylls, it was reassuring to recall how to light a real fire - and how to keep a real fire going (every young boys dream, a bonfire you could poke with a stick, indoors!) - how to cook with a 'new' form of cooker, ...more
Garth Cottage is ideally positioned, just the right distance away from the hub bub of Porthmadog but within easy walking distance to shops, cafes, the beach and coastal and hill walks. The property is great for dogs, allowing them safe access to an open space. The beds and soft furnishings are comfortable, and there is an endless supply of hot water with a very good powerful shower. The kitchen is well equipped, with enough of everything you should need from a self catering holiday. The house is architecturally interesting and full of character.
Great little barn in very secluded location surrounded by nature. The barn is a great escape for a couple. It is in a Welsh rainforest nature reserve. Lots of birds on the doorstep and we saw a fox hunting in the meadow outside. And an osprey passed overhead too. The track to the barn was fine for a standard two wheel drive car/van if you take it slow. It's not that rough. Amazing place.
Cute and comfortable cottage. Everything you need, good standard, stylish. Good location for onward explorations. Plenty of space.
The location is fine, The general condition of the property and furnishings are very tired and needs a total overhaul. When we opened the from door on arrival , the damp / old smell was overwhelming . We kept the front windows open 24/7 all week , and the bedroom windows open when we could, but were restricted by the noise of rain water dripping on the plastic flat roof below. and also the below flats boiler flu ,which is below the main bedroom window and the smell of fumes was a concern. The hot water system , created a high pitch sound after showering that must be heard throughout the w...more
Captain Jack's was great. The views are amazing, the location is in a quiet part of Porthmadog but only a short walk from shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony morning and evening, watching and listening to the steam trains, listening to curlews from the nature reserve and watching the boats going in and out of the little harbour. Not to mention the ever changing colours of the mountains. The apartment had everything we needed with a pretty and well equipped kitchen. It was lovely to be able to soak in a bath after a long day of walking in the mountains. A few th...more
Very pleased with the accommodation. I have stayed in many flats on the Snowdonia Wharf for over 30 years and sat that this is one of the best I’ve stayed in for comfort, space and cleanliness. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
Loved the property, had great character and plenty of room for 13 of us. I would recommend that the owners look at providing fans in the height of the season due to the rooms being very hot, and although a hoover is in the property to keep tidy a mop and bucket would be useful too. (Maybe there was one but we couldn't locate it) The pool was fantastic a good size that could accommodate a large family, much fun was had here. A wonderful holiday with lots of laughter. The property was just ideal and at a reasonable price. I would look at returning in the future with my family.
Good centre for short break and stunning area. Basic accommodation but very clean and easy access to great walks beaches and shops within walking distance Not for publication the following Boiler needs servicing and front windows unable to open
Our 4th visit to this wonderful cottage. If you like total seclusion and mountain views this is the place for you. Traditionally furnished, homely with comfy beds and bedding, big cast iron baths and a big fireplace. Lovely walks right from the doorstep. A short drive to the fabulous Harlech beach, Portmeirion and Portmadog.
We have stayed here several times before so we knew what to expect. Everything was exactly as we expected. Well done STS
Visited Top Sail for a few years now and find it very comfortable, if l was asked what could be updated would be the tv
This was the second time at this cottage. Today l booked again for next year. Such a lovely location. The cottage is cosy, and in a quiet location on the edge of the village. We had a wonderful sunny week. The staff at STS Holidays were very helpful too.
We had a wonderful stay at the Apple Tree and the location is fantastic - within a 2 minute walk of the water, a short walk to Caernarfon and easy driving distance to the wonders of Anglesey and Snowdonia. The place is quiet and comfortable - the only annoyance is that the lack of towels truly means no towels at all (e.g. no towels to dry dishes with) which made it a little harder to keep the place clean. But overall, a great place!
The pros of this cottage are: - Brilliant games room with pool table. - Flat screen TVs with Netflix etc which all worked perfectly. - Good showers which worked well, in both bathrooms. - Cottage newly and tastefully refurbished to high standard. - Excellent, spacious kitchen. The cons are: - Very small parking space directly adjacent to busy main road. The space would not be fit for purpose with a large car and I think guests should be made aware before arrival as it could be very problematic. - Certain pillows (under pillow case) were very stained (looked like sweat stains) and I t...more
When we arrived we were struck with how lovely it looked however on inspection there was obvious signs of poor cleanliness dust behind the table in the kitchen and behind the draws in the lounge area bathroom showed signs of neglect as did the garden area at the front Having said that kitchen lovely the site was beautiful the beds were very comfortable we just felt it had an air of neglect which is a shame as Glan Gwna is such a beautiful place
House was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. Maybe it needs highlighting that access round the back is narrow and a good idea to reverse your car down in the first instance.
The cottage had not been cleaned on arrival. The cleaners did arrive approximately one hour after I phoned the owner, saying "we'll have it done in no time". In fact, I would have preferred for them to have spent a long time, doing a thorough deep clean of the house, which was very dirty and smelly in parts. After they left, the downstairs toilet still smelt of men's urine and the smaller bedroom with bunkbeds smelt of rancid man's aftershave. Neither of those smells disappeared as the week went on. I had to look down the back of the sofa, in order to turn the reading light on. I...more
Lovely property, in a lovely location, fantastic views of the mountains and harbour. In a good central location for local shops and restaurants, try Spooners bar on the harbour , nice food and lovely steam train spotting beer garden. Property needs bathroom update, but this is planned I believe, so once this is done will be perfect. Also very helpful when I contacted them asking for an early check in due to arriving on the train , would book again definitely.
We revisited Beddgelert after a 40 year absence having spent many weekends there in the past. We found the village unspoilt and yet with all amenities for a visitor or tourist. There are plenty of places for evening meals, snacks etc and a tardis of a village shop which sells most things one is likely to have forgotten. The cottage itself, Can yr Afon, is made special by it's location and garden. It is on the edge of the village; just a five minute walk to the centre. One boundary of the garden is the river which changes from peaceful gurgles to roaring depending on how full it is. The garden...more
Dizzy heights was a beautiful house in a ideal location but it needs updating badly All beds need renewing as the mattress dipped in the middle The dining room chairs need replacing The kitchen was ok but some cupboard door fronts need replacing The showers had black round the bottom The bedding needs updating and mattress protectors applied Pillows too need replacing Who ever does the cleaning needs to clean under sofas too There was no key for the garage But if this was all done it would be perfect
We enjoyed our stay, the beds were very comfortable and there was space to relax in the house. The garden was great for the dog with nice walks nearby. It was very quiet and peaceful. Just a couple of niggles, a couple of the cups were chipped and a small pan was damaged. We would have liked shower mats in the en suite - my Mum found it very slippy getting in and out - and the shower didn't drain quickly enough if you had the water on full. These were minor housekeeping issues. The location and space in the house were great.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was wonderful stepping out of your back door and be on the mountainside. The kitchen was adequately supplied, it had good sharp knives and a few essentials. There is no microwave which we missed. The Welsh cakes and pint of milk on arrival were most welcome. Washing machine and tumble dryer really great. If someone is in the shower no-one else can run water as gives person a cold blast. The upstairs ensuite toilet is literally in a cupboard but apart from being noisy does make a useful addition to the property. Comfortable and cosy enough. Perhap a bit expensive...more
Nice property and location but really poor standard of furniture and fittings throughout, lots of maintenance issues not addressed (raised by others) and hard floors simply not properly cleaned. The property did not come close to justify the weekly rental charge.
