We have just returned from three nights in the Slow worm, which we booked to celebrate our son’s 16th Birthday as a family. We loved having the comforts of a home whilst having a camping experience. Having a dishwasher, an oven, a hob, and a bathroom made the visit easy and stress-free. We loved how quiet our safari tent was (the slow worm tent is at the bottom of the field and feels very secluded) and the location is perfect for this. The log burner was great - it allowed us to feel cosy and warm when the weather outside was cold and (at times) very wet. We recommend getting the night bricks for burning overnight - these made the tent much warmer in the morning. We made use of the hot tub (this took a long time to warm up and cooled down quickly if you didn’t keep the fire burning) and it was wonderful to sit and look at the stars. We used the fire pit to toast marshmallows and loved sitting around the fire on the designated log seating. The decking was great for eating, drinking, playing games and for keeping shoes and coats out of the tent. When it was sunny, we enjoyed playing games on the lawns too. The honesty shop was convenient and had the things that we had forgotten, along with the wood for the hot tub and the log burner. We have stayed in yurts before (and loved that) but think this is the best glamping experience that we have had. We are tempted to get friends to rent the other safari tent the next time that we visit (and there will be a next time) and have the entire field to ourselves. We would recommend Brackenhill to all of our friends and family.

We had a wonderful time staying in slow worm. Our favourite things were the beautiful secluded location, the quality of the safari tent and contents, and the hot tub. We particularly enjoyed our evenings as sitting on the veranda or in the hot tub even if it was a bit rainy, was a lovely way to spend time as a family. Our children really loved the hammock and all the space to explore. The hosts were always really helpful and the honesty shop sold a number of useful items.



Great place to stay; smashing location and excellent facilities - had a fabulous time.

We are a group of friends from all over England & Wales who get together to walk, explore, eat and catch -up. SlowWorm is a great place to stay. It has all the facilities required and was a great location for our get together.

There are a small number of adjustments which may make the experience even better: we are not a family and the gap between the bathroom door and frame is just a touch too big - allowing anyone passing to see almost everything. It would also be good to have a few more, optional, lights outside for evening dining. A few more plates & bowls for serving food from the table would also be helpful.

I'm sure we'll be back and look forwards to staying with you again.

We stayed for a week during the summer holidays.
Location is great, complete tranquillity, lovely little village and close to Dartmoor and South Devon coast.
The tent is luxurious, clean and well equipped.
We had a wonderful week xx

We had a great time at the Slow Worm tent – we just wish we could have stayed longer! Lovely hosts and really lovely accommodation with the surprise addition of a hot tub! Would definitely stay again.

We had the most fabulous time staying at Brackenhill. We were visiting family who live nearby and our stay here made it seem like a holiday rather than just a visit. In a superb secluded location, with lovely views, peace and quiet, our own fire circle, space for the children to explore and a small shop full of essentials we could not have asked for me. I 100% recommend and we will definitely be coming back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the brackenhill slow work glamping tent. Alex made our stay truely wonderful with a warm welcome and a fully stocked honesty shop! The tent and it's amenities were perfect, there was nothing more we could have asked for. We particularly enjoyed the outside space with a fire pit, bbq, stream and den! Our family of 6 (2 adults, 2 boys and 2 dogs!) had a great adventure and hope to return again soon.

The Safari Tent and all of the amenities were fantastic. From booking through to the end of our stay communication was great and the team were attentive and not overbearing.
We had our dog and children with us and everyone was catered for to ensure that the stay was as smooth as possible, the dogs bed and treat was a lovely touch.
The tent was spacious and comfortable even with our friends who were in Glow worm joining us for the evening.
A great spot for visiting the local areas too, We'll be back again xx

The owner was very accommodating and we found it to be in a lovely peaceful location , clean and very well equipped.
Lounge area with log burner , equipped kitchen and three bedrooms for six people .

Everything you need and more.
I would happily live here and I already have a nice home.
Met the owners on the first day and was made to feel welcome. However, did not see them after that. This is not a bad thing. The reason we did not see them is because every single little thing was thought of and worked perfectly. So we didnt actually need them although we always knew they were close by to give support if it was needed.
This place is amazing..... No other words are needed.

This is the second time we have visited, and shall keep coming back. It feels so homely here, with all the modern amenities you need (oven, hot shower) that even on a cold, wet and windy night it doesn’t matter!
We have brought our dog here and he loves it equally, with some treats, bowls and dog bed he is just as welcomed as us!
Couldn’t recommend more!

We stayed for 3 nights in the slow worm, with our daughter, grandson (13) and 11 month old granddaughter. It was brilliant from start to finish. The accommodation is first class, comfortable , with lots of lovely extra things like hot water bottles and blankets to make it cosy and warm. There was plenty of space for the baby to crawl about and walk using her baby walker. All super safe too. The log burner had a very safe fire guard around it. The kitchen is well equipped, and everything is provided for using the barbecue too. The fire pit is also great for an evening sitting chatting and making memories. We just wanted a peaceful quiet weekend away with our family, who, because of the pandemic we hadn't seen for a long time. It was perfect and we definitely want to do it again. Look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future.

Came here for a pretty tame intimate stag/hen do, it was raining when we arrived which actually made it much more magical. The location was great, the pubs in the village were cute and we were close to local attractions and amenities. Get used to driving down country lanes tho! Lovely walks nearby. Alex was very accommodating and helped us find places to walk/eat. Highly recommended

The safari tents were very high end with everything you need including complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, fire wood, hot water bottles, towels, the softest bed linen and most comfortable mattresses and pillows. Alex snd Simon responded quickly, are really friendly and very helpful. If you arrive late, they leave the honesty shop open for you with a torch to get to your tent. Wheelbarrows are useful. We would highly recommend their glamping site. It’s within 30 minutes drive of beautiful beaches, two pubs in the village serving good food and easy to find.

We had a great stay at Brackenhill. The location is peaceful and it’s super easy to get to some beautiful beaches and towns such as Totnes and Dartmouth. The safari tent has all the things you need and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pans, trays etc. We really enjoyed sitting by the fire pit in the evenings and on the deck area in the morning sunshine. I also really liked the fact that all the cleaning products in the tent were eco friendly.

Overall excellent and highly recommended. Being a little picky I wouid recommend an additional heater as back room was a tiny bit cold during the night - that being said plenty of blankets provided.

To keep up with our ongoing journey to improve our sustainability credentials we won't be providing extra heating in the tent beyond the large log burner in the sitting room but blankets and hot water bottles are available to our guests.

My husband and I, along with our two young boy's aged 3 and 6 stayed for two nights in the slow worm safari tent and we absolutely loved it!
The accommodation has been finished to a very high standard and has everything you need. It's so spacious, the shower is lovely and hot too! There's plenty of room outside for the little ones to run around and we were far enough away from the other tent to not disturb them as our boy's can be pretty loud at times !

Despite the rain we really enjoyed our time here, it was so nice to come away and relax in quiet, calm surroundings. Listening to the birds and sitting by the wood burner was just lovely.

We will definitely be back.
