Had our family reunion at this idyllic Vesta View and Shepherd's Retreat near Humshaugh. Location perfect surrounded by chickens, sheep, lambs and cows ... The house was ideal and catered for my brother in a wheelchair. Beds so comfortable and the welcome hampers were so very welcome as we'd forgot the milk! Did the sycamore gap trail - a bit late to see the tree. Went to Beamish museum, vindalanda , The Sill and the star gazing at Twice Brewed - meal in the pub, then a presentation on the universe , unfortunately didn't get to see the stars as it rained - but still worth it.
This is a great place for a family holiday. The house is spacious, with a well equipped kitchen. I loved the uninterrupted view for miles at the front and we all loved the beautiful fat chickens. The EV charger was much appreciated. It certainly among the best I’ve stayed in, and I’ve taken a quite a few
Perfect for walking Hadrians Wall - it’s pretty much on it!! Places to eat are easy to drive but nothing close enough to walk. There’s a convenience store near the Red Lion at Newbrough. The place is clean and comfortable for 2 people. Owners live next door and are happy to help if needed
