Beautiful location, despite bring next to another cabin felt private. Lovely big comfy bed, we enjoyed the views from the window, watching the birds feed. Does lack thoughtful finishing touches, though. And the shower isn't powerful or hot enough at all. Hot water only available at certain times which felt restrictive and limited when we could use the hot tub since we couldn't shower after. Owner took over 5 hours to message back to an issue too.

Overall a nice stay but we wouldn't return. Not the best value for money.

We have just returned from 4 nights at The Roost.
We had the most magical time, The Roost is such a great place to stay. The hot tub over looking the mountains and the giant window to wake up next too was just perfect.

The Roost is well equipped with most things you could need, however a there is no oven, making cooking in the evenings a little difficult.
We did get a takeaway one night and another night braved the walk into Aviemore for a pub tea. The walk is fine in the day time, but make sure you take torches for the walk if it’s going/is dark.

Our Goldendoodle Diego had a great stay, The Roost is fully enclosed, however - on the first night the garden was so overgrown (I know that wild flowers were planted a few years ago) but meant it was unsafe for the dog as he ended up covered in sticky flowers/nettles etc. thankfully on the second day; the garden was mowed and it made it perfect for the dog (thankfully the front door is fully glass and he was happy lying on the heated floor patiently watching us in the hot tub!). Also note that the fence to the Stag can be seen through by the dogs so if your dog is reactive / doesn’t like other dogs just be aware they can see the dogs if any are staying next door - also at 8:30am the sheep appear in the field in front of the garden so we kept our dog inside until they’d move back into the other field so prevent spooking them!

Although coffee was provided, this was small Nescafé sachets and a few sachets of sugar - therefore recommend bringing your own.

Additionally, towels and robes are provided; however it was very cold (there is a one small radiator which although heats the cabin perfectly, makes drying clothing/coats/towels difficult). Therefore if staying for more than 2 nights would probably recommend you bringing your own towels.

There were quite a lot of cobwebs above the sofa - expected for staying in the middle of nowhere but did make the arrival feel not as clean.

We think next time we might return and stay next door at The Stag to give us some extra room, but truly had such a magical stay and can’t wait to return.
