The location was stunning and the property really unique. Loved the dramatic views and sitting outside on the wooded terrace high above the weir for meals. In a heatwave the huge expanse of the old Workshop was very cool and the facilities more than adequate. Shower and bath in the two bathrooms and the top bedroom ,with three windows ,covering different aspects was an obvious choice for us- two generous extra bedrooms not used. I needed a bed before an event and this was perfect. Arriving late was easy thanks to all the careful details and lock box set up. The room was so tidy and what an array of treats met me! I was initially worried as there was a wedding on but I couldn’t hear a thing and slept really well! I’ll be back!
Fireman's Cottage is an imaginatively converted and extremely comfortable little house in what must be an almost unique location with pretty much everything you could want right on the doorstep, from the Millenium Walkway for walks along the rivers Sett and Goyt, plus the High Peak Canal, to the local railway station for services directly into Manchester and Sheffield. Not a good set up for a bridal suite - very very early check out for previous bride results in embarrassing overlaps and tensions at change over. Having a separate bridal suite to get ready in on premise would massively improve this for bride and groom. Air bnb style, therefore no customer service. Accommodation is pleasant but nothing to write home about - there are notably better value air bnbs in walking distance from this one. Voucher included for cafe, but cafe service is questionable.
