Thank you so much Philippa for our cosy cottage base at Hall Farm, AND for helping me out of our wedding clothes crisis!
The cottage was the perfect base for my husband, elderly mother-in-law and myself as we celebrated a family wedding at nearby Grangefields. It was so nice to be able to pop back for a rest in the middle of The Day and feel so at home and comfortable in the cottage. We couldn't resist your delicious home-made cake with a restorative cuppa! We. enjoyed supper at the local pub, The Red Lion, indulging in their speciality of 'pie 'n mash'.
I am extremely indebted to you for making practical suggestions and generous logistical offers to help, when we realised the night before the wedding that we had left essential baggage at home in Devon! You saved the day!
We had a memorable weekend and were delighted with our choice of accommodation. I can't reccommend Hall Farm highly enough.

We hired all three cottages for the weekend of our wedding. Phillipa was the perfect host from the welcome on arrival to leaving as Mr & Mrs. The cottages are beautifully presented both inside and out and we highly recommend booking a stay here

The Old Smithy is a beautiful and comfortable home from home. Philippa is a wonderful, helpful and friendly host. Our only disappointment was the outside space is across the courtyard and not completely private. The area is stunning and all areas of the Peak District are within an hours drive. We will definitely return.

We used The Old Smithy as a base for our family as we celebrated the marriage of our daughter at nearby Grangefields. It was the ideal place for our daughter, the bridesmaids and mothers to get ready in the morning. It is a beautiful house and the outside area was so lovely to relax in the evening before and the morning after the big event. Philippa was the ideal host and went above and beyond to help. Would highly recommend this property.

We cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Philippa & Julian. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that our hosts was dedicated to ensuring that our stay was nothing short of extraordinary. Their attention to detail, warm hospitality, and genuine care for our experience made our wedding weekend truly unforgettable.

Our hosts went above and beyond in every aspect, from the immaculate preparation of the accommodation to their thoughtful gestures that added a personal touch to our special occasion. After an issue with our transport on the morning of the wedding our hosts did not hesitate to ensure the Bride got to the venue on time and in style, allowing us to focus on celebrating our big day.

The accommodation itself was nothing short of spectacular. Every room was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we could possibly need. The stunning surroundings and breathtaking views provided the perfect backdrop for any occasion, and our guests were equally impressed by the quality of the accommodation and the level of service provided.

I cannot recommend Philippa & Julian and their accommodation highly enough. If you are looking for an accommodation and hosts that will exceed your expectations and make your special occasion truly unforgettable, look no further.

The Old Smithy was the perfect base for a long weekend away. Philippa and Julian were fabulous hosts and their cottages have been renovated beautifully - practical, comfortable, tasteful and stylish. We got a ‘feel good holiday feeling’ from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and would definitely recommend to anyone wanted to break away in the lovely Derbyshire countryside.

We stayed at The Old Smithy for our daughter’s wedding weekend. It was ideal for parents of the bride being in close proximity to the two other houses built around the courtyard where the bride and bridesmaids were staying. Our son and partner also stayed with us. The Old Smithy was ideal, well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The King sized bed in the Master bedroom was luxurious as was the large bath in the ensuite.
Philippa was a wonderful hostess, nothing was too much trouble for her. She was so kind and friendly and was so eager to please on every level. It was clear that she wanted us all to have a special and memorable time. We would highly recommend The Old Smithy and any of the other Hall Farm Houses. We would love to come again in the near future. We felt that Philippa had become more of a friend than simply a hostess to us all.

We hired all the cottages for our friends, for our wedding.
They were so beautiful inside, had so many compliments from our friends.
Location was great too as it was just around the corner from our wedding venue which was a bonus.
We will definitely be back in the future!

Amazing stay in a fantastic, well equipped, light & airy cottage. Ground floor en suite bedroom was ideal for one of the party and the beds were super comfy. We received a very warm welcome from Phillippa and the little touches of a delicious homemade lemon cake, fresh eggs and milk were much appreciated. The sheep were also very friendly. All three properties were booked for a family wedding at Grangefields. The outdoor space was perfect for wedding day 2 celebrations, chilling with family & friends.
We highly recommend this accommodation particularly if attending wedding at Grangefields.

My husband and I stayed at The Old Smithy for our sons wedding. Phillipa is an excellent host. Close but not intrusive and a lovely welcome pack. Absolutely everything you need (and more) for a Derbyshire Dales stay. Some good recommendations in the welcome book and the local pub, The Red Lion, is an easy walk away and fantastic pies and service. Have already recommended and would definitely return. We absolutely loved staying here it was gorgeous. Beautiful cottage in a lovely setting & the sun was shining all week x we were at a wedding close by so it was just perfect.
