We definitely found a true gem when we decided to stay at the Northbrook Arms.
We stayed in the delightfully bijou 'Barrel Room'.
Recently renovated and decorated to a very high standard it was just the kind of comfortable 'nest' we were hoping for.
Spotlessly clean, fantastic amenities; fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster and possibly the most comfortable bed we have had the pleasure of sleeping in.
It really was an ideal bolthole for what turned out to be a fabulous two night stay.
We dined in the pub restaurant on the last night of our stay, and here again we were delighted with the modern, tasteful surroundings.
Callum the manager greeted us on our arrival and couldn't have been a more genial and welcoming host.
The food on offer from a well varied menu was absolutely delicious.
My wife had the chicken schnitzel which was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection.
I opted for the beer battered Cod and chips. Perfect pure white flakes of Cod enrobed in a light, crispy and extremely tasty golden batter.
Our waiter, Gabrielle, was extremely friendly, professional and highly knowledgeable concerning all the items on the menu.
Many businesses claim on their websites to have top notch rooms and restaurant facilities, only to be found sadly wanting.
Here at the Northbrook Arms the highly dedicated staff and management team deliver on all counts.
We look very much forward to returning soon, and in the meantime cannot recommend this wonderful establishment highly enough.

The Barrel Room was the perfect stopover for us before going to Car Fest. Lovely little apartment with a very comfy bed. We also very much enjoyed our dinner at the Northbrook Arms.

Perfect spot for where we wanted to be. Handy little kitchenette, modern bathroom and lovely shower very smart and comfy bed with tv. Pub food was very good too! Only tiny thing is the water coming through the paint
But we enjoyed the stay

We booked here because we were attending a wake in the pub. The decor & furnishings were well thought out - just as shame that there were numerous areas of damp - maybe inevitable in such an old building. This made the towels damp before use.
There was no contact with us from the staff, so couldn't really rate customer service. No real help was given regarding a local place for breakfast.
Sorry if this sounds negative. We loved the location & the pub where we ate the night before.
A suggestion would be to have designated parking for the accommodation as we had to park in the lane outside.

Very pleasant location. Room was lovely but decor was showing signs of needing to be re done. Bathroom window would be better if frosted in some way as its clear glass blind had to be down all the time as looked out towards public area of Pub.
Staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Adam was very approachable over minor issue with room (Mattress issue).
I would say the Barrel room is more for a one night stay due to lack of space. We will return but will book the one bedroomed house (The Old Bakery) just to give us more space.
The food in the pub was outstanding and the service was impeccable. I put in a special request at time of booking and this was accommodated without question for our meal.
We enjoyed our stay here and as stated will return.

It was just a quick one night stay for the opera. The location is absolutley perfect and the room, pub and village are charming. We're certainly thinking of coming down for a couple of days and doing some walking in the lovely local countryside - we enjoyed a 3 hour walk straight from the door. The little kitchenette was adequate but we didn't realise that the pub wouldn't be open the next day for breakfast - next time we'll bring our own.

We stayed here as a stop over from Cornwall and were pleasantly surprised by the accommodation considering the cost.
The room was beautifully clean and spacious with a kitchen area; all spotlessly clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open on that day so am unable to review the food.
Would definitely recommend.

The accommodation was amazing . Although the smallest unit it was so much more than staying in a hotel room and fabulous value. The Sunday roast at the pub was absolutely stunning. We will definitely be going back.
