Spacious and comfortable, The Abbey indeed provided a unique experience during our stay in Fort Augustus.
Great location in a historic building complex that encompasses a part of the original Fort Augustus, the XIXth century benedictin monastery and private school buidings and several cottages adpated to provide very comfortable lodgings. The property includes extensive grounds on the south border of Loch Ness providing a very convenient base to explore the Highlands around Inverness and the Isle of Skye.
We had a very relaxing stay, the cottage was well equipped and in a wonderful location. We will certainly be back.
Amazing place, totally out of this world, perfect to get away from the busy everyday life. The monastery is magical, walking around the beautiful corridors, the courtyard, or just walking out to the lake, the whole place is so serene and blissful. The apartment has huge windows overlooking the lake, the place is very warm, cozy, perfect to snuggle up with a good book and tea. The stars at night, reflecting on the lake, just gorgeous! The location is perfect to explore the Highlands, lots of hiking routes and shops are nearby. Absolutely would recommend this place and definitely will return!
We had a great time at The Highland Club. The building is absolutely gorgeous, the staff was very friendly, and even answered a few historical questions we had about the place. And being just steps away from Loch Ness was just perfect.
Stayed for almost 2 weeks. Lovely apartment. Very clean. Nice location on edge of Loch Ness. Shame about the weather !
Just a great place, directly by the LochNess! Very quiet and peaceful - we will come back sometime it will as just great.
It was a very pleasant stay! Everything was excellent - only the water for the shower could be hotter.
Absolute gem of a rental unit. Large neo-gothic windows in the living room just give it a very serene feeling. Very confortable unit with all you need. Arrival was easy and we had a tour of the property. Incredible facilities: pool, sauna, outside chess, inside billiard room, etc. The grounds looking out on Loch Ness are pristine. We had a small problem with the gas furnace which stopped working once or twice, but the staff were quick to respond and fix things. Small downside is that Fort Augustus is relatively far from anywhere you will want to visit in the Highlands. But I think ...more
Although we were just a couple of two persons, we certainly enjoyed the spacious old chapter house. Further it s a beaitiful area, with a very quiet golf course were we have played the 18 holes three times. It is a pitty that the Highland Park Club has no restaurant. Nevertheless the chapter house will be recommended!
we loved everything: - the historic building - the very comfortable apartment with a great view of Loch Ness - the swimming pool - the surrounding area with beautiful walks and good restaurants (even in November)
Had a great stay. Loved the location. A family get away for my fathers 80th, we were able to get two apartments together, which allowed the benefits of renting a much bigger place. The views from the windows were stunning and the size of the rooms were good.
My sister and I stayed in #10 for a week while we toured various areas in the Highlands. The town is lovely and easy to reach via a short walk. Luis was very helpful in getting us situated in our cottage and showing us the charm of Highland Club. We toured the area by day and enjoyed quiet evenings 'at home" in front of the fire - a peaceful and relaxing visit!
This is a once in a lifetime stay- such an incredible opportunity to stay in an historic place in a beautiful town. Check in was a travesty, but once we got into the room it was worth it
We loved our stay here. Lovely grounds and the staff was very helpful and responsive. The pool is worth reserving and it is clean, warm and comfortable. If we come back to this area we will be staying here again.
Our family of four had an excellent holiday in The Sacristy. Our boys (6 & 10) loved the pool (we loved the sauna), games room, giant chess and playing ping pong in a most beautiful room. They were able to search for Nessie from their bedroom and we enjoyed runs, walks and bike rides along the shore of Loch Ness. Fort Augustus is small but perfectly formed for tourists. We ate out at The Boathouse Restaurant (in The Highland Club grounds) and The Bothy in Fort Augustus and both were very enjoyable. The Sacristy itself is warm and tastefully decorated, with every need thought about and catered ...more
Stayed the week in this beautiful property in Fort Augustus. Our apartment was the 14 Raven Wing, and it offered a view on the great front lawn. It was spotless and had everything my daughter and I needed: we were very comfortable. There is just so much to see and do around the property: walking inside this old abbey or outside directly to the lake, the swimming pool, the tennis court, and all other amenities… Not to mention the walking access to downtown Fort Augustus or to trails going up into the hills overlooking the Loch Ness. We hope to be back soon to discover more of the Highlands.
An amazing experience. Wonderful setting on the banks of Loch Ness and a delightful town at Fort Augustus. My son and his family joined us from America and they were impressed. The conversion of the building was very sympathetic. We all had a lovely week. Thank you.
This apartment could be ok if it had some work on it. Although the lounge / kitchen was large and ok the rest of the apartment let it down. Maintenance appears to be none existent with request to replace bathroom bulb and filthy frying pan was not dealt with during our 2 week stay! As for the bedrooms they can only be described as dismal, uninviting and smell of damp. The old wooden furniture in both bedrooms need to be removed and replaced by fresh and clean items because this is where I believe the damp odour originates from. Likewise carpets have seen better days. Bathrooms are ok but once...more
