We were on a tent camping/walking holiday with our dog and decided we needed a place to stay for a few days as the weather forecast wasn’t great. We stumbled across Marcassie Lodges quite by accident as they popped up on Booking.com. What an absolute joy it was on meeting Betsy to learn about the deep eco/sustainability credentials, how the lodges were built from their own timber and the community living and working around the farm including artists, carpenters and more.
We found the lodges incredibly cosy. We’d return in the evening and the lodge would retain some of the heat. They seem well insulated and well built. The bed wrapped itself around us with a plump quilt and beautiful white bedding - truly hygge. Everywhere was super clean with special touches eg locally made soap.
We used the two pan hob in the kitchen, the kettle, toaster and a fridge. There is a microwave too. The highlight was having sharpened knives - a simple but necessary pleasure when preparing food. We didn’t need to raid our camping kit as everything we needed was provided eg garlic crusher, bottle opener, grater, cooking utensils.
The delightful farm shop is adjacent to the lodges and has tempting goodies including fresh, seasonal, organic, local food, cakes and locally made bottled delights eg champignon mushrooms, honey, jams and so much more. Had we room in our car, we would have come away with a few gorgeous wooden side tables too.
The lodges have a verandah and beautiful vista over the field. There’s a small lake and trees nearby and the place exudes calm and beauty.
We truly enjoyed our stay.
Our only suggestion is to find ways to highlight and share the special qualities of Marcassie Farm to other potential visitors who like us, would feel enriched by staying here. Marcassie Farm is currently a hidden secret that is worthy of a higher profile. Thank you. Caroline & David Davis

Excellent stay at Marcassie Lodges. Betsy made us very welcome, everything was spotlessly clean. Nice bedding, endless supply of hot water for showers etc. Peaceful setting. Everything you need for a comfortable stay supplied, & nothing too much trouble. Excellent newly opened farm shop on site, not open every day, but carries a good range of supplies, & some very tasty treats too!! Close to several excellent beaches. A good base from which to explore the area. We would definitely book again.

I was delighted to return to Marcassie Farm Lodges in the spring. The location is beautiful and was full of bird song and beautiful trees.
The lodges are compact but so well designed you have everything you need. Three of us stayed comfortably in one studio with my sister and her husband in the adjoining studio. We could sit outside on the decking and have meals together.
Very warm and welcoming place to stay. I hope to be back!

We had such a wonderful stay at Marcassie. The lodge was comfortable, clean and equipped with everything we needed. The complementary locally made soap was a lovely extra touch and Betsy was nothing but a joy to deal with. We will be returning.

We loved our 2 night stay in the studio - the lodges are beautifully structured and I loved their functional yet stylish design. Lots of touches inside to help with your stay - a compact kitchen with everything you'll need to whip up meals, comfy bed/lovely bedding and the locally made soap was a lovely touch. It makes a cosy based for exploring the surrounding nature and a short drive takes you to Forres, Findhorn, the airport or the coast which is really handy.

Very clean and modern lodge. Everything you need in a compact and comfortable space. Excellent information from Betsy before, during and after the hire. Would highly recommend and would love to visit again in the future.

I recently stayed in one of the cabins in Marcassie farm. The cabin was small but very cosy and practical and contained all you could possibly need. The hosts were very welcoming and made every possible effort to give you a pleasant stay.
I warmly recommend a stay at Marcassie Farm!
