Skylarks is ideally situated just outside Truro a lovely quiet comfortable retreat , within easy reach of both north and south coast and the Roseland peninsula. Would very much recommend the cottage.

This is our second stay and I doubt will be our last. Skylarks is perfectly situated to explore the area with access to beautiful beaches, gardens and close to Falmouth and Truro. The spotless accommodation is perfect for two + a dog and has everything you could need. Having access to the field is great for the dog first thing in the morning or last thing at night. The weather wasn’t great during our trip and being able to light the log burner and cosy up after a wet walk was very welcome. Malcolm is a great host - there if you need anything but leaves you to get on with your break if you don’t.

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing week exploring southern Cornwall. Our two dogs enjoyed having access to the paddock for daily ball-play, and we all enjoyed visiting lots of new gardens/woods/beaches readily accessible from Bolotho Barns.
After busy days out, it was great to return to Skylark and cuddle up on the large sofa in front of the cosy log burner. The kitchen has a good range of equipment for preparing meals, although the dishwasher was not working during our stay (due to an error message we reported to Malcom the owner). We did find the small tea & coffee cups a bit limited in capacity (but we do enjoy a large mug of tea in the morning). The spacious bathroom was great for a refreshing shower (we didn’t use the freestanding roll top bath). The pretty bedroom was a lovely space to relax in the evenings, in our opinion it would benefit from a couple more drawers for storage.
Skylark was reasonably clean but not spotless, there were cobwebs on the beams, walls & ceilings in both the open-plan lounge & bedroom. The bathroom extractor fan and bathroom plugs would benefit from more regular cleaning. As a previous guest noted, the sofa beneath the cushions would also benefit from vacuuming during changeovers (accumulated hair/sand/dust plus a half eaten bread stick!). An additional soft broom would help to keep the floors swept when dogs are staying.
We do hope to stay again at Skylark, and explore some more of southern Cornwall.

What a wonderful place to stay. The location is just perfect to see everything Cornwall has to offer, most things less than an hour away. A beautiful cottage with a great feel, log burner, wood beams throughout. My on minor concern was that the pillows were a bit uncomfortable, might be worth putting a couple of spares in the wardrobe for people. But that is so minor that it doesn't take away from the 5 star stay. Will definitely be looking to stay again in the next year or 2, and will recommend it to anyone!

The property is very well maintained and clean and has everything a couple need for a week. The kitchen is quite well equipped for basic cooking, which is all we wanted to do. There is no real outside space at Skylarks as the small patio is always in the shade and poorly maintained. We did feel that a check-in time of 5pm is too late and the check- out time of 9am is too early!

A comfortable and well provided self-catering barn conversion, accurately described in the advertising literature. It is in a great location with a number of Cornwall's popular tourist attractions within easy reach.
One element that could be pointed out is the long narrow drive from the road to Skylarks with almost no wide sections to get past
any vehicle coming the towards you and this would especially apply to reversing after dark.

Having braved the A30 road works and Truro ring road it was amazing that within a very few miles we were in the peace and quiet of the countryside at Bolotho Barns, a beautiful spot. Having said that the close proximity of the major roads made it an ideal base for reaching many locations and attractions in Cornwall, not always easy if you are nearer the coast or by one of the many creeks and inlets. Being almost equal distance from both North and South coasts there is a real change of scenery between each not to mention choosing the best weather!
Skylarks is cozy and warm with a beautiful bathroom and comfortable bed but maybe a few more drawers and/or cupboards in both kitchen and bedroom would be good to be able to unpack and store clothes and groceries - we probably always bring too much but better to have space to put them. Overall we had a lovely peaceful week,and being NT members, Trellisk Gardens being so close was a real plus especially in May when they are at their best - we made more than one visit!. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Skylarks has been beautifully converted and well thought out. There is everything you could need to have a relaxing stay. The little extras make all the difference and the hosts are welcoming and helpful. Great place if you have a dog with all their needs catered for as well. Beautiful location, away from noise, hustle and bustle. Close to so many great parts of Cornwall.

Having stayed at several self catering places in the area this is by far the best. The place is spacious, has a lovely bathroom, kitchen/ dining / lounge area with everything you need . The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and much appreciated so thank you for that.
The log fire was a nice touch with everything there to get it started etc. with hosts nearby by for any questions.
Its in a great location near Truro allowing for easy access to Porthcurno, Penzance , Sennen Cove , and Padstow by car.
To sum up , it’s the best self catering place we have stayed at in Cornwall and we will be back.
