Well what can I say? Myself, my sister and my 2 friends had the most amazing time at The Shieling. It was stunning, the house itself, the location, the views, the loch, everything was just perfect. It was beautiful and peaceful. We went at the beginning of October and the weather couldn't have been better, beautiful sunshine and the privilege of seeing the aurora borealis 2 nights in a row, WOW. We went wild swimming, kayaking, SUP boarding, rowing (if you can call it that) but it was a hoot, hot tubbing, BBQ's, sitting outside on the deck by the firepit. Low level walking, some hiking, cycling and we managed the Bealach Na Ba on bikes, albeit Ebikes, it was amazing. Sight seeing and eating locally and we got a wee boat over to Loch Coruisk with Bella Jane Boat trips, we saw the shortest river in the UK. Lunch is a must at Cafe Cuil on Skye. We went to relax and have fun and we certainly did that. Booking is easy and the owners communication was great, the only hard thing about this experience was leaving at the end of an amazing week. Thank you Mhairi and Martin, it was a pleasure and a privilege sharing your wee bit of paradise. Until the next time.

We had an excellent stay at The Sheiling. The property is amazing - location is spectacular, everything about the property is really high-end, and ending each day in the hot tub with those views was just perfect. Lots to do in the surrounding area as well which is an added bonus. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful location to enjoy a perfect relaxing break. We were fortunate enough to have glorious sunshine and spent most of the day either on the decking or out on the loch in the rowing boat.
This wad our second visit and I was delighted that the Shieling has retained its high standards of comfort.
The nightly visits from the pine martin were a joy and the solitude of this beautiful location allows you time to breathe and de stress.
I would definitely recommend a stay to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Just returned from a weeklong vacation at the Sheiling, the house is magical in a setting that is fantastic.
Our stay was excellent from arriving to find the welcome basket to unfortunately having to leave a week later.
The house is very well appointed with great kitchen and bedroom fittings and. brilliant showers.
Went out fishing on the loch from the little rowing boat and caught a couple of brown trout and some good sized perch.
Hot tub was great to relax in at night after a days fishing. Hosts were very helpful when contacted and we will hope to return next year

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sheiling despite the very disappointing weather. 5star accommodation in a 5star location. My husband summed up our stay. Who would have thought I could cast my fishing line from the decking, come back in to a lovely room and watch the Olympics whilst keeping my eye on my line. You have got to make the most of the situation when the weather is rotten!

The Sheiling is an outstanding build on its very ‘own loch’ with spectacular views in all weather conditions. Martin & Mairi have created a unique and stunning property. Design and quality exceptional, furniture & fittings first class.
Decking area with hot tub, barbecue & fire pit great place to relax and chill out. The added bonus of the wee rowing boat to explore the loch just makes this place so special.
This was our 4th visit and already booked to return next year.
I would highly recommended this accommodation, great base also to explore Plockton & Skye
Lived the dream again

We have wanted to visit The Sheiling since it won Britain's best holiday home award in 2021. It was well worth the wait.

The location on Loch Lundie is surrounded by stunning views of the loch, forests and hills. We enjoyed total peace and privacy.

There are many places to visit within a short drive. We enjoyed many long walks on Skye and driving our classic car on the quiet highland roads.

The house was immaculate and exceptionally well-appointed. We loved our visit to celebrate our silver anniversary and highly recommend The Sheiling.

This was our second stay at the Sheiling and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
We were lucky enough to experience the Northern Lights on the Saturday.
This time we were also treated to several visits from the Pine Martens, we counted three different ones, the last being a kit probably one year old, they provided great entertainment.
Again we made good use of the BBQ & Hot Tub.
The location is fantastic and a great base for exploring the area.
Thanks again to Martin & Mairi.

The Sheiling is an amazing find, beautiful setting, great accommodation and the private loch was great for wild swimming, boating and fishing. Plockton is a 5 minute drive away and this picturesque village has a great range of amenities, in particular Plockton Shores which has an excellent of seafood. Now we’ve experienced The Sheiling we will be definitely be back for more.

What an amazing house and location! There is very little that hasn't been mentioned in previous reviews but this place is an absolute gem. Undoubtedly most people will return again and again - our next visit is already being planned. If the weather plays ball then I can't think of a better place to spend time than on the decking taking in the views or chilling in the hot tub. As an avid fisherman being able to catch wild brown trout is an added bonus. The surrounding area and Skye offer everything that you would expect from the Scottish Highlands. There are plenty of walks right from the doorstep and Plockton is beautiful. All in all the perfect week.

Everything about the Sheiling is just beautiful - the unique build, fantastic location and stylish and well equipped interior. Stunning views and peaceful location come as standard here. We loved taking the boat out for a picnic, and relaxing in the hot tub looking at the stars. This was our 2nd visit and we're already planning the 3rd.

Martin & Mairi have provided a perfect getaway with the most majestic of settings. The quality of decor is second to none! Impressive kitchen and bathrooms with everything you would ever require. Towels/dish towels/cleaning products - Even down to salt & pepper mills to the cling film in the drawers in the kitchen!
The outside decking area boasts relaxing seating with table fire and hot tub but with plenty space and safety in mind for young kids. There is even use of the owners rowing boat with life jackets available. Also a gas bbq which would be amazing in Summer.
The location is stunning - it was “blowing’ a hoolie” when we stayed but this didn’t mar our stay in the least. I didn’t get to use the hot tub much but when I did, it was amazing and so relaxing to watch the incredible views - even in the baltic weather!
They have thought of everything - from the beautiful welcome pack of wine, chocolates, oatcakes, cheese and milk … to the toiletries, bathrobes, slippers and towels. Those little things mean so much and they are very much appreciated.
Communication was excellent and we were made to feel so welcome.
We will most definitely be back this Summer… and the Summer after that …

We had the best time at the Sheiling. Icy beautiful days, clear starry night skies. We spent evenings in the hot tub pondering the meaning of life!! Feeling very blessed and very small. We loved our weekend at The Sheiling - wish we could have stayed for longer! We loved looking out over the water under the moonlight, relaxing in the hot tub, taking the boat out on the loch, the most amazing showers, and every home comfort you could wish for. We filled our days with walks, cycles, exploring, shopping and eating and we didn't have to travel more than 4 miles in any direction. There are some great local food places with fabulous hospitality. Can highly recommend it to others - families or couples.

We had a lovely stay at The Sheiling. Our expectations were high from having read other reviews and looking at the photos but we were amazed to find we had the loch to ourselves and the house even better than we expected. We arrived after a rather gruelling motor bike ride through wind and rain so to be rewarded with our own piece of heaven was marvellous. If Plockton is the 'jewel of the highlands', The Sheiling must be the crown jewel! We loved the rowing boat, great for exploring the loch but we didn't swim due to the weather - something for next time!

Definitely the best accommodation we've stayed in; your own loch with no other residence or people in sight, and fantastic views over the loch and surrounding trees which make it such a tranquil and peaceful setting. The house is spectacular, from the hot tub built into the deck to the modern equipment and furnishings, and all the extra touches such as robes and slippers, and welcome pack including wine and cheese. We had a week of all weathers but it was perfect from snuggling up in front of the fire on the cold days to rowing on the lake in their boat on the sunny days! The owners are also fantastic with communication, so we will definitely be staying again and would 100% recommend to others!

The Sheiling is an amazing build in a stunning location, design and quality of finish outstanding. Martin & Mairi have created an incredible and unique place to relax and take in the magical views in all weathers of their ‘OWN’ Loch. Spacious decking with hot tub, fire pit and barbecue. Wee rowing boat a gem and great for exploring the loch. A visit to the picnic bench well worth it. Sunsets amazing from there. Enjoyed daily swims too. Excellent location for exploring Plockton & Skye. Already booked for our 4th visit next year! Would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to get away for total relaxation with views to die for.

Amazing, swimming in Loch is a must do, so invigorating and warm .
Plenty of nice walks. Walk to Plockton, go to the away food place at top of hill behind school & Station, best fish and chips we've ever had......

2 downsides, first was people slowing down or stopping on road when they saw this stunning place. And second is you have to leave this beautiful tranquil place.

Our second stay at The Shieling and every bit as lovely as the first. Martin and Mairi are wonderful hosts with an eye for detail and so approachable and helpful. This year even the locals say the midges are out in force but Smidge is your best friend. Don't let them put you off. Sadly no sign of our daily pine marten this year but a nightly visit from a young badger may be the reason. Do make the effort to go across to the picnic area to watch the sun go down it's magical

Chosen by my wife as a base for some hill-walking in Torridon the location is superb and as it turned out got two great walks in.
The view across the loch is very relaxing, the hot tub is great and trying our hand a rowing the boat was great fun.
Our son had a couple of swims in the loch too.
We made good use of the BBQ and enjoyed the open aspect across the decking.
Great base for Skye and further afield.
Finished to a very high standard and lives up to luxury description.
The resident pine marten proved elusive, our son spotted him briefly but that apart we didn't see him, although food we put out for him disappeared overnight.

Everything about The Sheiling is just stunning especially the unique property itself and its location. We loved seeing the wildlife including pine martens, badger, buzzards and little grebes. It's a great base for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland. We had such a wonderful time here that we booked again as soon as we got home.

My wife and I stayed at The Shielings between 14/04/23. - 21/04/23 and previously in 2022. The facilities both times were outstanding and the location was excellent to navigate the local walks with minimal need to use the car.

From the moment we arrived it was perfection. Location is just stunning but the house itself caters for all your needs. Martin was in touch throughout and a great host. He really has thought of everything and has put the best of quality into the house.
Lots to see and do in the surrounding areas and Skye, as well as cafes and eateries just short drives away. Or sit and relax in the stillness and do nothing…. Just a great break that worked wonders for the soul to recharge and recoup. Can’t wait to return.

It was an amazing break in the most peaceful and secluded location.
The owners are lovely and very helpful, they went out their way and put some banners and balloons in the lodge for my partner and also lots of other extras.

The perfect place to get away from it all. Beautiful location and a very comfortable holiday home. The owners were very friendly and helpful before and throughout our stay. Lots of really personal touches such as a generous welcome pack, warm rugs for sitting outside on a chilly March weekend in front of the fire pit, and a warm hot tub to defy the weather! Well equipped and generously furnished.

This place will absolutely blow you away it’s stunning inside and out!!!! Had great fun rowing on the Loch. Hottub and firepit table were put to good use!! Beautiful location and ideal for exploring the surrounding area and all the cracking walks. Martin was a great host too making sure all was good when we are arrived and during the stay too

An amazing lodge set on a beautiful Loch. Peaceful and able to switch off completely. Watching the stars and the moon at night from the deck and hot tub was very special. The Lodge was spotlessly clean with a great welcome pack provided by the wonderful hosts. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. Everything about Loch Lundie is first class....the location, the position of the house over the loch and the house itself is fitted out to the highest of standards. Extremely private and tranquil Even the midges are virtually absent which is unheard of in the West Coast. I would thoroughly recommend for a relaxing holiday.

We had the most superb time there, house is very well equipped and built to a very high standard, trip around Skye is well worth the drive and for spectacular views go to Applecross, locally for a meal The Shores at Plockton was superb and a little further afield Carron restaurant is worth a visit, if i were to be hyper critical and its a very small point the living area could do with an extra comfy chair as the property sleeps 4 people.

Amazing location, completely away from it all. No other properties on the Loch, so you have it all to yourselves. Fantastic attention to detail with the property, which met all of our needs. The boat was a very nice touch, and the hot tub is of very good quality and wonderful to use after swimming in the Loch.

Just returned from my 2nd family holiday at the amazing Sheiling.
Wow Martin & Mairi have built an incredible lodge on their ‘Own Loch’ Attention to detail is excellent and furniture & fittings 1st class. Stunning views from the spacious decking with hot tub, fire pit & barbecue! Wee rowing boat a gem and great way to see more of the spectacular Loch! Views of the sunset from the picnic bench across the Loch well worth seeing! What a place to relax and unwind! Lived the dream with a week in Paradise!!!
Family had a magic stay and already booked again for next year!

Newly built property on its own loch. Views over the loch were beautiful. Finished to a very high standard. The beds were very comfy. The bedding was of excellent quality. Both bedrooms were ensuite with beautiful bath/shower rooms finished to the highest standards. Open plan living again finished beautifully with everything you could possibly need for a perfect stay. Owner was very friendly and welcome pack was very generous.

The Shieling is an outstanding place to stay. Location is supeb and it is extremely well equipped. The hot tub was great to relax in after a days walking. Having the use of our own rowing boat was great and despite the weather we managed to get out and row to the picnic bench and jetty on the other side of the Loch.The welcome pack was a real surprise and gratefully received. Martin and Maria were great hosts and contact with them was always quick and helpful. Thanks for an amazing stay. We will definitely be back.

Martin and Mairi have created a magical haven of peace and tranquility. The Shieling is unique and stunning and the setting utterly breathtaking. No detail has been overlooked and there are so many kind and thoughtful touches. The icing on the cake are the friendly locals, the amazing seafood and the nightly visits from the pine martens. We gave already booked to return. In fact we wished we didn't have to leave

My husband and I had a fabulous week at this beautiful house. Could not find any fault with it at all.
House itself is first class. All furnishings and fixtures the best quality and the entire house in
Immaculate condition. As for the decking area and view over the loch, well, it surpassed our
expectations. The icing on the cake was our nightly visit from a pine marten. First time we have ever seen
one. What a treat that was.
Congratulations to Martin and Mairi for creating such a beautiful place to stay.

This place is incredible - lost for words to articulate how fantastic it is.

We stayed for a week, spent the days exploring very nearby Skye and the evenings in the hot tub under the star filled night sky.

The Sheiling and Loch Lundie are perfect, majestic and all sorts of other adjectives. The amazing pictures you are looking at don't really do it justice, it's better than that.

If you are thinking about booking, then think no more - just do it. You will not be disappointed.

We hope to return in the future. Thank you Martin for being a great host.

A totally unique and very special place. Even better than the photos. The location is beautiful and still easy to travel to Plockton, Applecross and Skye. The weather was sunny which meant great use of the decking area, fire pit and hot tub which was just bliss.

What a fantastic peaceful location and superb house. Everything you could want for peace, quiet and comfort. So much thought gone into everything within. The provisions left for our use were appreciated and really were more than expected. We only wish it had been summer to take advantage of the rowing boat and the hot tub. We were cosy watching the wind, rain, sleet and sun!
Can’t recommend highly enough.

Just thinking about our break at the The Sheiling makes me smile and glow. There is such a sense of calm, backed up with all the luxuries of a 5 star hotel or even better. I can't recommend The Sheiling highly enough. To put it simply, the best non-hotel holiday I've ever had. Superb location, wonderful house, attentive owners (but not intrusive) and every possible requirement met. You couldn't possibly regret booking this house!

The drive from Loch Lomond to the Sheiling must be one of the most spectacular in the World - it sets you up with expectation, and then The Sheiling delivers ! It is situated on its own Lochan, with no other visible neighbours. It truly is a joy to behold ! The building is gorgeous - warm and welcoming, Immaculately and thoughtfully detailed and presented. Martin was on hand with directions, and everything you would need for an enjoyable and comfortable stay was provided.We took the boat out, and I found it a great place to learn how to row, with no tides to contend with : there are other delightful surprises at the Sheiling too, but enough said ! I have already recommended it to several of my friends as I think they too would enjoy the experience that is The Sheiling.

From the moment you walk in the door the view draws you through to the open plan living/dining area where the large picture windows showcase the stunning surroundings of this unique property. The calming quiet of it’s location is like being cocooned in a comforting blanket. The interior is modern and tastefully styled with everything you need. Stunning property & location. The owners have thought of just about everything to make your stay as wonderful as possible. The rowing boat is a great addition to your holiday as is the hot tub & fire pit. Some lovely walks in the area and Plockton has a few good restaurants. There is a good BBQ to use & the butchers in Lochalsh sell good quality meat. Plenty of wildlife to see.
