This is a spacious and cosy holiday home for up to 6 guests with Visit England Gold Awards for 2022 and 2023 and 2024! On the first floor there is a superking bedroom with private shower and wc. On the ground floor there is a kingsize bedroom and also a twin bedroom. Here there is a downstairs family bathroom with a wc, shower and bathtub and a third additional downstairs toilet. The house is situated on a quiet street on the south side of the River Tees in Barnard Castle.

Barnard Castle is a beautiful place to stay and we have stayed at 1 Teesdale Road 3 times now. It is a beautiful, comfortable 3 bedroom house which sleeps 6, with 2 bathrooms and a utility room with a cloakroom attached. It has everything you could possibly think of. The owner Sue is so very accommodating and helpful. It's a really luxurious home from home. I would strongly recommend this accommodation.

We are travelling home after a fantastic few days in this perfect house. We felt comfortable straight away. Spotlessly clean and well cared for. The lawned area is gorgeous and we had some lovely photos taken there before attending our nephew's wedding at Runa Farm. The beds were comfy and we had such a relaxing time especially the day after the wedding! A beautifully furnished home and we had some great walks from the front door. The quaint pedestrian bridge into the town was a fab short cut and we found plenty of pubs and lovely shops. Thanks to Sue who was very easy to communicate with and ensured our stay was very special. I can’t praise 1, Teesdale road enough. It exceeded our expectations by far. It is well situated just a step from the river and a short walk into Barnard Castle. There are lots of lovely walks from the house and lots of interesting places to visit if you want to explore the area further.
The house is extremely comfortable and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. Despite going in October, we enjoyed drinks on the patio in the evening. I didn’t look at a map before going and thought the house would be on the river side. It is on a quiet residential street across the road from the river. Trees hide the road but you can hear the river sitting on the patio. We will definitely be going again.

A very spotless, spacious but cozy place, with evertthing you need and more.The walks along the river and up into town are lovely and no need to use the car.The location is also a great base for visiting the surrounding areas .It was very easy to book with Sue and we will certainly return when up that way.Highly recommend

We had a superb week at 1 Teesdale! Very comfortable & well kitted out. The location was grear with an easy walk into Barnard Castle and to the famous Bowes Museum. The walk from the house along the Tees riverbank is easy & very accessible.
Barney is so well worth a visit, with great shops, coffee bars & more and the information provided in the house was excellent.
Many thanks for a great week. We are already discussing a return next year!

What a wonderful property. Across the river from Barnard Castle Centre but just a pleasant walk away. The property itself is very spacious with two living rooms, one with a TV and another without, a nice quiet room. Everything is provided for your stay. The beds are so comfortable. The owner is very helpful, we enjoyed our stay so much and would highly recommend.

This was our third stay at this lovely house and it will not be our last.
The house is perfect for a family getaway with a great kitchen/ dining/ living space. The garden is safe for little ones to run around in and there is a large paved area to sit out if the weather permits.
There are loads of great walks from the front door and the centre of Barnard Castle is only a 10-15 minute walk away…..but up quite a steep hill !!!
The house has everything you need,, is clean and Sue is a great host who answers any questions very quickly.
I cannot recommend this holiday home enough.
As ever we are looking forward to our next visit.

The best property we have ever stayed at. Sue had thought of everything and not request was to big or small! There was beautiful detail throughout the property like toddler toys for our little girl and boy, a pint of milk on arrival for teas and coffees. The whole house is so well stocked and we loved the garden. Great location to Barnard Castle and there really is so much to do in the area for families ! We had a great week....thankyou so much Sue :) xx

The house is perfectly situated for walking from the door either into town or lovely walks along the river in both directions and straight out onto the main road if driving into the Teesdale area. It is very spacious and comfortable with everything you need and more. Parking is easy. Lots of kind and personal touches. Would definitely return and recommend.

We spent a week at 1 Teesdale Road towards the end of April and the property made a cosy base to return to after our days out exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. It is spacious, airy and has lots of comfortable chairs and sofas for relaxing, with a good selection of books and jigsaws in case the weather is bad. The kitchen is very well equipped if you decide to eat in, or if not, we enjoyed an excellent meal at The Three Horseshoes Hotel in the town. All in all a lovely, relaxing holiday.

We were 2 couples staying for 2 nights. The accommodation was fantastic: very spacious, comfortable, bright & clean with a nice little garden. It's a great location, in the middle between the road bridge & the pedestrian bridge into town. Barnard Castle has loads to see & do & the surrounding countryside is lovely. Sue was very helpful & let us arrive early & leave late, which was greatly appreciated.

The accommodation is lovely; very well equipped with modern appliances and facilities and in a great location with private off street parking and a nice garden. Sue is the perfect host - easy and quick to communicate with and has thoughtfully provided lots of personal touches within the house and there is all the tourism info and books, games, etc a family would wish for. We had a fantastic stay for four nights. It was perfect for our nearly 90 year old mum as she had a downstairs bedroom and bathroom.
The house was spotless and had everything you could possibly need.
It is a short walk to the town & we also visited the James Herriot Museum in Thirsk and Ruby Castle.
Would definitely recommend and hope to return again in the future.

We were surprised by how much was provided to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Mrs Watson was happy to offer advice about the locality, where to eat etc, indeed the welcome guide was comprehensive with details of walks, restaurants, visitor attractions etc, couldn't be more friendly. Very comfortable accommodation, very clean and everything you could possibly need is there.
Very comfortable beds and very good quality bed linen and towels.
Position is perfect , just a few minutes walk into the very nice town of Barnard castle and to the Bowles museum and castle.

The house has everything you could need for a very comfortable holiday, the house has more than enough space for a family of 6.
The location is great, you can walk into Barnard Castle within a few minutes and there are loads of great country walks close by.

This house has everything you need while on holiday, plenty of room for everyone to enjoy and still have peace and quiet. Love the kitchen, diner and living room being open plan. Garden and decking is great. Beds are really comfy and nice and clean. This is our 2nd time staying in the house and will stay again. Sue is the perfect host.

Sue,the owner,is a great host,& has done a fantastic job renovating this property & has turned it into a lovely holiday home. Our group of 6 friends (3 couples) from Nottingham,shared this house for a weekend break “up north”.
We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the property is,and everything we needed during our stay was there for us,including all the little things like washing up liquid,tea towels,hand soap & condiments,etc.The decor is lovely & modern & the property is well kept & very clean, comfortable beds & bedding,& heating if you want/need it.We didn’t use the front living room/snug area during our stay as the kitchen/dining/sitting area was great for us all to socialise.We only cooked once during our stay,a breakfast, another frying pan & serving tongs would’ve been handy to have,but that’s only a suggestion.No problem parking wise,& neighbour very friendly,lovely walk across the bridge into Barnard Castle town,lots of antique/curiosity shops & pubs,had 2 lovely meals at the Italian restaurant Capri,excellent service there.Visited Hardraw force waterfall & Yorkshire dales on our journey up,amazing! Visited Bowes museum grounds,saw a re enactment there,Durham town & cathedral,a beautiful building,& Richmond,nice market there.
We will be recommending 1 Teesdale road to our family & friends,& will be returning at some point in the future.

Teesdale Road is hands down the most clean and comfortable holiday rental we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The property is beautifully laid out and appointed and has everything you would ever need. The space is light and bright and is perfect for a family getaway. The beds are super comfortable and the showers are amazing. The home has a really great outdoor space for eating and for the kids to run around. The location is unbeatable - just steps from the bright lights of Barnard Castle but has the village feel of Startforth. There is so much to do without even getting in your car. The property is practically on the Teesdale Way, where you can walk for miles in either direction through beautiful countryside. There are also numerous walks around the Barnard Castle and Startforth area that you can do from the doorstep. Barnard Castle has all the amenities you would ever need from shopping to dining. This was our second stay at Teesdale Road and we are already planning another trip.

The owner of this beautiful house has made sure that visitors are short of nothing. The house is toasty warm, has good wifi, comfy beds, luxurious bathrooms, a great well-equipped kitchen, two lounges, a nice sunny garden terrace, castle views, and is in a lovely peaceful residential setting with riverside walks and the town centre close by. Very highly recommended.
