We had an amazing time welcoming friends and family to join us to celebrate my hubbies birthday. The property is excellent! It’s well equipped on every level, with flexible accommodation offering large spaces for us all and space to be in smaller groups/ get some quiet time.
Ample parking, safe gated area for the dogs and a scenic walk to an amazing eatery in the Horse and Farrier in Dacre. Superbly positioned to get to amazing places, towns and walks it really is a base for all seasons. We will be back, again!
The gardeners retreat is a lovely, modern cabin set in a walled garden and as such is beautifully quiet and peaceful. The wood fired hot tub is a real treat and makes this almost a DIY spa break which is both fun and relaxing. Things to be aware of - the Herdwick Inn is significantly easier to walk to than the Horse & Farrier due to a cycle way, and does amazing pies as an aside. My only criticism would be that our one sunset was slightly marred by the gardeners mowing the lawn for what felt like an hour with the noisiest petrol mower and strimmer known to mankind. That aside it was a lovely p...more
Home Farm is a beautiful well appointed property in a great location in the Northern Lakes, only a short drive from Ullswater and Dewentwater. The cottage is really well appointed with super comfy beds. The garden is beautiful- make sure to feed the red squirrels they are such a delight. Despite being close to the A66 there is little or no road noise and it’s only a quick drive into Penrith where the neared supermarkets are located. Kate was really friendly and the welcome hamper was a wonderful treat. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Yew Tree cabin is a warm and cosy cabin in a perfect location. There are amazing views from the cabin, and very easy access to The Lakes and the Eden Valley. The flexible arrival and departure days are a major attraction. The only minor issues were the lack of coat hooks by the main entrance, and a kettle, as the boiling water tap was awkward to use, especially for arthritic hands!
We had a wonderful 4 night stay. Booking was easy, lots of information was provided pre visit, and the Herdwick Cabin was as described. The hot tub is a great place to relax after a day wandering around the beautiful Lake District. We would highly recommend a stay at Hutton John Estate
A cottage we would certainly look to return to. Comfortable beds, settees and good sized kitchen. Good quality bathrooms. A couple of recommendations. A good sized cafeteria was missed (we had to buy one) and more drinking glasses would be useful.
Also noted some development being undertaken in the opposite field. Would this be more cottages being built?
We had a lovely couple of days at Brow Wood and the generous welcome hamper was a special touch thank you ! Super quality furnishings , robes and towels . Bit disappointed at the state of the outside tub as the cover is made from wood which is in need of replacing so had to clean bath of leaves and slime before we could use it . We also had trouble with the hot water to the bath , ran hot and cold The hot tub was great but took 3 hours to heat and nearly 2 bags of logs , we’ve used these numerous times before and not had one take this long . It would be a great benefit to guests for the host...more
We had such a fabulous stay at Bluebell over the weekend. Kate and the team were very responsive prior to our arrival and when we arrived there was a welcome hamper with wine, biscuits and other goodies.
The cabin has high quality furnishings including Joseph Joesph utencils and a hot tap for tea/coffee.
We spent a lot of time outside walking/hiking but it felt so cosy coming back to the cabin each day to settle down and relax. The underfloor heating was a dream and we'd definitely recommend this property to explore the northern lakes and surrounding areas. We'll be back, thanks Kate, Alan a...more
