Striking the balance between heritage and contemporary living, our cottages and cabins are just a stone's throw away from Ullswater. Spend the day adventuring in the Lakes and return to a nook of luxury where you can relax in complete privacy.
Wherever you choose to stay, there will always be a warm welcome, personal service and thoughtful touches throughout their visit.
This was our third visit to the Hutton John Estate and our second time staying at the Gardner’s Bothy. We love the cottage and the walled garden as it is so relaxing and beautiful. Our dog, Rocky, was clearly glad to be back in his happy place and soon made himself at home. As always we were kept well informed by Kate via email before we arrived with information about places to visit and eat out. We are already thinking about booking our next visit to the Hutton John Estate.
What a fantastic property that gave us everything we needed. From booking to staying communication was excellent and by far the best property we have stayed in the Lake District. We were a group of 10 and it met every need we had, close to some lovely walks and to visit all the Lakes. Also fantastically clean and a lovely welcome pack was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend
We were excited to stay at the Gardner’s Retreat and it did not disappoint. We arrived a little early, but Kate said they were doing the last checks and we would be able to check in early which was great.
The cabin was super clean - spotless, in fact. It had everything we needed for our two night stay. Very comfy bed, lovely hot tub and outdoor area, kitchen with all the utensils required, powerful shower with soap/shampoo. There was a sweet welcome note with a basket containing biscuits, jam and milk.
There were a lot of flies in the cabin, but we found Raid in the cupboard which help...more
We stayed in Herdwick Cabin which had a beautiful view from the decking and hot tub. The cabins are situated in a great area for exploring Keswick and surrounding areas . Prior to arrival there was lots of contact from Kate with regular updates and guidance. There was a welcome pack on arrival and everything you need for a self catering stay is provided in the cabin.
The cabin was clean and cosy and we would definitely return for another stay. There is a well stocked farm shop and cafe 5 minutes drive away and the pub that is recommended in Dacre is well worth a visit!
We stayed in the Yew Tree cabin, it was very pleasant and peaceful atmosphere. The kitchen was well equipped but could have done with a 2 person cafetière. Lovely soft towels and robes were provided along with a very nice bathroom. The bed is massive, so no problem spreading out. The lounge area was nice and comfortable too. The hot tub was very pleasant once heated, it takes about 2 hours to get to temperature, but be careful not to put to much wood in as this keeps heating when you are sat in the tub and can become very hot. One possible addition we could have done with was a clothes airer t...more
We stayed at Lacet Cottage for nine days. It was wonderful. What a beautiful and peaceful setting. The walks are wonderful, and the cottage itself is very comfortable. We had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (and so did our dog).
We could honestly say this is the nicest cabin and location we have ever stayed. Fixtures and fittings were amazing, location was perfect, just 10 mins from the M6. Cranstons farm shop and major supermarkets just 15 mins away.
The attention to detail and customer service from Kate and her family were second to none. Lots of email correspondence before our arrival with places to visit and things to do. Really nice to visit a cabin with top quality fixtures.
We will definitely be back. 10 out of 10!
We stayed for 4 nights at Bluebell Cabin in early September. It rained most days and there was no where to hang wet coats when returning to the cabin or somewhere to put shoes .The bedroom was as expected with a comfy bed and the bathroom was good although the shower tray was slippery when wet. The sitting area lacked comfort a rug would have made it feel more cosy.
The cabin was quite isolated and very close to the A 66 . The brochure said it was on an estate but apart from some old farm buildings and another 3 cabins there was nothing else. The view from the cabin was great.
