2CS is a Lovely place to stay. With the advantage if a parking spot. This has been our 3rd stay. Cottage always spotless and very comfy and cosy. A very useful welcome pack is supplied.

Perfect little cottage with everything needed for a comfy cosy stay. Location is perfect, especially the little secret door into the market square.

Owners and local caretaker are very helpful and efficient.

We have had an excellent stay at 2 CS Richmond in October 2022.
The cottage was very neat and the location in the heart of the town, just near the market place, is a real bonus! We were very pleased with our own parking space.

Lovely clean cottage very central for Richmond market square and added bonus of car parking space. Richmond itself has lots of lovely restaurants and pubs, we especially enjoyed Rustique and Tapas 29. We enjoyed lovely countryside walks along the river and further afield all from the doorstep. I’m sure we will be returning to the cottage in the near future and thankyou to our hosts for a lovely stay.

This is our third stay in College Square (once in Little Cobblestones) and we couldn't imagine a better place to stay. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped and the location is brilliant. Despite being so close to all amenities it is so peaceful. All in all another wonderful holiday.

My wife and i were very happy with the cottage very clean modern and comfortable but the stay was unfortunatly spolit by vehicles making delivers to the funeral home which shares a small yard with the cottage this happend at aprox 11pm three nights out of the seven of our stay

The accommodation was value for money and location perfect. I did have concerns about the safety of my car as children were playing with a ball in the courtyard on the day of arrival. We have both enjoyed Richmond several times in the past but on this occasion we found many of the hostelries were understaffed and consequently the menus were extremely limited. Our experience of the accommodation was tarnished at the end by having to go through too many hoops to receive the refund of the deposit. We paid by credit card and expected the refund to be the same and as a consequence would not contemplate anything involving PayPal again.

2cs Cottage was excellent for our stay in Richmond. The location of the cottage, and the fact it has its own parking spot really hit the mark for us. The Cottage has everything you need, and the welcome items were indeed very much appreciated. If you are planning a stay in the area, I highly recommend to book here, you are close to everything that Richmond and the surrounding area has to offer - a lovely little market town with lots of unique shops and some great bars and restaurants.

The owners of the cottage were a pleasure to deal with with the queries we had.

If we ever need to stay in Richmond again, this cottage will be my number 1 pick.

We had a fantastic week staying at the cottage in Richmond! From start to finish, Mike’s communication was excellent and he ensured we had everything that we needed. The cottage is in a fantastic location right next to the market place and you can even access it via a private doorway. The cottage is well equipped and feels very comfortable. Nice touch with the welcome milk etc and also soft towels provided. We will definitely return!

This is a lovely cottage, very well equipped with everything you need. It's right in the centre of Richmond but is extremely quiet. Access to the main square via the private gate is great and the square has loads of bars. restaurants. cafes and shops. Richmond is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. Would highly recommend this cottage.

Having been to Richmond for day visits we wanted to spend more time in the area. We were lucky to find this gem of a cottage. It had been decorated with pictures, silk flowers etc and just felt welcoming as soon as we walked in. Everything we needed and nothing I could think of that was missing. The parking space and proximity to Richmond market square were the icing on the cake and we enjoyed unlocking the door at the end of the passage to find ourselves amongst cafes, pubs, shops, museums etc and with several options for walks within the local area. We walked down to the river to see the falls and along the old railway line to the picturesque ruins of Easby Abbey as well as exploring the town itself. We had a lovely meal at the Piazza Italian restaurant but mostly ate in the cottage or on days out. The Wensleydale valley wasn't far and we had 2 day trips there taking in walks at Aysgarth and Hardraw falls and the farm shop that sells its own ice-cream (forgot the name but delicious). And on the other day the Wensleydale heritage railway from Bedale kept us entertained with history of the railway and area told by costumed characters such as the station master. All in all Richmond and the cottage were a delight and gave us good access whether we wanted to walk in the area or drive further afield.

We have stayed in this cottage twice now - it's huge advantage is it's location right in the heart of Richmond. It is just off the market place and ideal if you are using public transport. The cottage is well-equipped and beautifully decorated, and we felt very at home here. A couple of points to note - it has a breakfast bar with stools, which was fine for us, but some folk might prefer traditional dining table and chairs. Also there is no real outside space to sit - again this was not a problem for us as we were out all day, and there are plenty of outside spaces nearby. It was lovely to have a welcome pack of bread. butter and milk. We will definitely be back.

This was our first stay in 2CS having previously holidayed in Little Cobblestones, a sister property. The standard and location of the cottage is second to none and Mike and Bev are superbly helpful. The location of the property is incredible with the Market place, shops and restaurants less than five minutes' walk.

We hope to return to Richmond soon and would not hesitate to book this property.

A lovely little cottage in a central location to explore Richmond. It seems to be in a very secluded, quiet location even though it is close to all amenities, shops, pubs, cafes and also takeaways if required in the current social climate.

Easy access for walking and sightseeing in the local area. Having an allotted parking space is a definite bonus and the sneaky doorway into the market place is very handy.

Directions to the cottage were spot on and all in-house instructions were easy to follow.The welcome food pack was a lovely touch.

Lovely little place to stay in Richmond for a few days.
Ticked all the boxes, clean, well equipped, cosy, warm, very close to the cobbled square with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. Having parking was also a big bonus even if we did come back from a day out to find someone had parked in our allocated spot and had been there all afternoon so we had to park elsewhere.

Lovely walks in the area and several castles worth a visit.

Thanks for the bread, milk and butter a really nice touch. Plenty of leaflets also with ideas for visits and walks.

Access is via Victoria Road through a narrow driveway opening up into a courtyard behind the shops of the marketplace. There is a passageway (torch advisable after dark) with a gate into the market square. Dedicated parking space.
The cottage is very well equipped, spotlessly clean with modern appliances. The ground floor is basically one lounge/kitchen/ dining bar with a storage cupboard and small WC off. Upstairs, main bathroom with shower over a full sized bath, main bedroom with standard double bed and adequate storage. The second bedroom has bunk beds and a skylight.
Ideal location for exploring Richmond and the surrounding countryside. The market place and surrounding streets offer a wide variety of dining, shopping and drinking options. A visit to the Green Howard’s Museum is a must.
Would certainly use again when visiting the area.

We came to explore Richmond as it was where my father was from. 2CS was an ideal place to stay. Good communication with the owners who were very helpful and quick to respond. Location central, private parking and enough accommodation for our daughter to join us at the weekend from London. We were very comfortable and enjoyed fabulous walks both in Richmond and further afield on the Pennine Way. We were blessed by a week of good weather and really enjoyed all that Richmond had to offer - we’d love to visit again.

A beautiful little cottage with all the amenities needed for an enjoyable stay. The location is fantastic - hidden away behind the main square with a ‘secret doorway’ directly onto the square. A great week again at 2CS, cottage has everything you need for a great stay. Richmond is a great small town, lots to see and do and places to eat and drink. Cottage has lots of info from eating out to places to visit. Great Walk from the castle along the river, past the station and round to Easby Abbey then back to the Station. The Station is a great place, a bakery, a brewery, a ice cream parlour, a diner and a perfectly formed 3 screened cinema. 2CS Us a great little place, a great location with the added bonus of parking and a secret door straight into the square.

We spent 4 nights in this cosy cottage in the centre of Richmond. It is a comfortable, warm house and is central to Richmond. We hardly needed to use our car at all. The parking space was a bonus too.
The only criticism we found was that when we used the bottom bunk bed it was rather squeaky.
We really appreciated the starter groceries, handy dishwasher and pretty décor.

For a stay in Richmond where you can expect completely reliable standards of cleanliness, comfort and customer service, you need look no further than this little cottage. It also has dedicated parking - a rarity in Richmond - and is so convenient for all the town has to offer, all within walking distance. Hidden behind the facades of the shops in Richmond’s old cobbled square, we were delighted to find the cottage 2CS.
The location was perfect to be able to enjoy the town, the friendliness of the people and the beautiful surrounding area. Having it’s own parking space was a real bonus.
The cottage had everything we needed. Warm,comfortable and peaceful, and we were lucky with the weather which made it even more enjoyable.
Enjoyed a meal at ‘Allessandros’ and ‘ Rustique’ restaurants which were superb.
Would definitely return.

The cottage is ideally located just off the old square but with its own parking and in a secluded courtyard. We had plenty of options for places to eat out on our doorstep and a co-op and bakers within a short walk.

The kitchen was very well equipped and the decor all feels very new and clean. With four adults it is not overly roomy but still very comfortable.

As a base Richmond was great for exploring the Dales, Malham Cove, Whitby and Richmond itself. We could have happily filled another week with places to explore.

We loved this cottage! It was clean, modern and well equipped. The location was excellent....right in the middle of Richmond, but tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The owners and property manager provided excellent customer service, were very responsive and dealt immediately with the one small issue that arose.
I would definitely recommend this cottage and look forward to staying there again!

We required a property in or near Richmond to visit my family living in Richmond, Darlington and Low Worsall. 2SC fitted the bill on paper and we were not disappointed when we arrived at the cottage. A small problem with the key safe was solved in two minutes by Dave and the cottage proved to be comfortable and convenient for our needs.
We had specifically requested a secure off road parking space for our Mercedes Benz sports car and Mike the owner assured us that this would be available. In fact we had two spaces to ourselves all week.
We had also queried the building work next door but were assured by Mike that he had spoken to the agent and they were aware of our concerns. Indeed the builders were most helpful in ensuring that the lane was clear whenever we wished to go out.
We would most certainly return.

The cottage is lovely and has everything you want. De location in the middle of richmond is perfect exept for the view you have when you step outside. It is at the back of some shops and restaurants. The smell of food is not nice. The building work at the fleece hotel was not nice. You could here them all the time.

Our guests agree "the cottage is lovely and has everything you want". The setting is enclosed in a courtyard immediately behind the Market Place which forms the town centre. The location affords guest privacy, dedicated car parking and pedestrian access literally a few steps away from one of the most stunning and picturesque views you could wish to find. We regularly stay in our cottage to visit family and friends and have never been troubled by "the smell of food." On the contrary, the town centre boasts a variety and mix of local shops, pubs, hotels, restaurants, cafes and other essential amenities which are welcomed and enjoyed by ourselves, residents and visitors alike. The fact that these amenities are within walking distance of our cottage is seen by us and the vast majority of our guests as an attraction. The Fleece Hotel, situated directly behind our property, is currently undergoing redevelopment into mews/courtyard cottages and quality apartments, which is welcomed by us as owners of two of the three properties in College Square. The Fleece is a prominent landmark building in Richmond which has recently stood unoccupied and unloved in recent times. When fully restored, The Fleece will become a complimentary and imposing gateway development beside our properties. The developer does not work all the time, so the statement by our guests “You can hear them all the time”, is simply not true. No work takes place in the evenings or at weekends (the occasional Saturday morning aside) and reasonable weekday working hours are kept. We are in direct contact with the developers, who are aware of our interests as owners of holiday properties and we are maintaining a close watching brief on all activities. We respect the right of these guests not to recommend our property to others, but we consider this to be grossly unfair when the review is based mostly around their judgement of the location from their personal viewpoint. The narrative in the review itself offers them sufficient opportunity to give opinion about location and value to them, which should rightly inform others about their personal experience, but the decision not to recommend to others seems odd when viewed against the other scores on cleanliness, service, comfort and condition and therefore should not in any way deter other guests who are drawn to a town centre location and, in our opinion and the reviews of other guests, one of the best town centre located cottages in Richmond and possibly North Yorkshire.

Thank you Mike and Bev for this wonderful apartment. We arrived later than expected on Friday (thanks to Bank Holiday traffic). Instructions given were very accurate, the welcome pack (Milk, coffee) were spot on. The brilliant location of this lovely apartment together with the fact it has its own parking - this was absolutely priceless. The apartment itself is great - everything we needed (and more) was there. The "secret" door to the market square was the highlight of my daughter's stay, together with the bunk bed :) Before and throughout the stay, Mike answered any question we had and made our stay as pleasant as possible. Once again - thank you ever so much, we will definitely come back.

We've just had the perfect short break in Richmond. Cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and we didn't want for anything. Joining instructions and directions were easy to follow. So quiet, couldn't tell we were in the town centre yet so convenient for the shops and pubs - through the secret door! Wifi signal strong and fast.

This beautiful cottage was an excellent base for our holiday in Yorkshire and within reasonable travelling time for the Lake District.

The cottage was perfectly equipped and we did not lack for anything. The owners should be so proud of their property and it is so tastefully decorated.

We would not hesitate to book this cottage again if we were going to Yorkshire again.

Great modern accommodation - ideally located in middle of Richmond, which is a wonderful historic town with a castle, river, variety of shops and most importantly blessed with many real ale pubs. Easy access to the delights of Swaledale and Wensleydale.
Everything you need is provided for at 2CS, but a small bin in the bedrooms and bathroom would have been appreciated.
I would recommend however that you view Victoria Road on Google Street View beforehand particularly the location of the Fleece public house behind which College Square is located, as it is very tucked away. Fortunately this pub is currently closed otherwise it may be noisy at night.

Many thanks for the review and the points raised. 2 College Square is nestled behind the town's market place and The Fleece public house, which is currently closed. Strict noise limitations were imposed by the local licensing authority when the venue was open and noise was not a problem. Richmond boasts a fair number of public houses, which is part of its appeal and the night time economy is part of town life for residents and visitors alike. The author of the review has no experience to support his suggestion that "it may be noisy at night". As owners, we maintain that 2 College Square is as cosy and as quiet a town centre property as any you will find.

We spent a week at 2 College Square - The cottage is compact and it gets top marks for being spotlessly clean and in a good location. The lounge/dining room was comfortable and had dining seating at a breakfast bar for four and lounge seating for 3 - a two seater sofa and another single chair. The chairs were very comfortable. The cottage was easy to find and a great plus having a private parking space in the courtyard. The reason I have marked the cottage down under the comfort rating is that we found the beds rather uncomfortable - the double bed is only a double (not a queen) and the bunks are only suitable for an average weight person - two of our party were 6ft 2 +. I agree with a previous review that as the cottage does not have washing facilities, a second towel should be provided for a week stay. You can take the towels to be laundered to Johnston's the drycleaners/launderers in the square (look for the green shop front near the Green Howards Museum),they offer a very efficient same day service. The cottage is the second home of the owners and we felt a little uncomfortable with all the instructions of what we should and shouldn't do which slightly spoilt our stay. We have rented many cottages/flats/converted barns during our travels and haven't encountered this. Despite saying this it is a pretty little cottage in a great location.

We all had a lovely stay at 2 College Square. Great Location! Just look in the visitors book and you will see just how much we squeezed into 1 week. We would definitely recommend it to our friends. We were really lucky and had lots of sunshine os we were able to maximise on all that you can see and do in Richmond, we even managed to get tickets to see King Lear in the Theatre which is right by College Square. One thing I would have changed was the towels mid-week they just weren't enough for 4 people - 1 medium towel per person per week was a challenge.

This is a fantastic little cottage in the heart of Richmond. It was easy to book and the owners went the extra mile to make our stay great. When I mentioned in passing that I was arranging a funeral they gave me the contact details of Roots and Shoots (a fantastic florist) in Richmond.

Having a parking space and being a stones throw away was great.

You couldn't ask for anything more! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for somewhere to stay in or near Richmond.

A beautiful little cottage in a very convenient location. We were a little worried as we drove up the narrow driveway beside the Fleece Hotel leading to College Square. The sight of the three little cottages reassured us, and once inside no.2 we were delighted with all we saw. The cottage is beautifully decorated and maintained and very well equipped. Every inch of space is used imaginatively and there are many thoughtful touches. Again, we were a little disconcerted when we walked through the rather scruffy alleyway across the little Square leading to the "secret door" but once through were delighted to be right in the bustling and attractive Richmond Market Place. It was a delight to step through the gate in the mornings and evenings and have everything on our doorstep. So an excellent location in most respects. The "Apple Tree Fences" outside the cottages are a lovely idea and will provide a pleasant outlook as they grow.The owners were most helpful and friendly from the moment the booking process started and they did all they could to make our stay enjoyable, as did the local representative.
