Returning to Greystones for a second stay did not disappoint.
If you are looking for accommodation that offers a high standard & caters for both yourselves & dogs then we cannot recommend this cottage in Sutcombe enough, offering a secure orchard & garden within a peaceful village..
Although you may think it is off the beaten track, it is a great location reaching amazing beaches..
Chris & Laura are fantastic hosts, who are on hand if needed but discreet at the same time..
We look forward to returning in 2025!

We use this cottage for our fireworks retreat, as our dogs don't like fireworks. The location is great for walks and the beach.

We had a wonderful stay at Greystones with our dog, who was experiencing his first holiday.

The cottage had everything we needed and had a perfect mix of old features with modern facilities. We tended to cook quite a bit in the evening and although the kitchen is small it was very well equipped.

The welcome packs were really appreciated (I love fudge!), especially the Dogritos, which we shall be ordering for doggy Christmas presents:-).

Our dog loved the garden, orchard and the woodland walk in particular, where he could run around and explore.

Sutcombe is quite remote and peaceful, but still not that far a drive from some of our favourite places like Sandymouth and Widemouth beaches. Tamar lakes was a nice walk as well which was only 10 minutes away.

We would definitely return for another stay.

Greystones is a beautiful property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was clean, comfortable and decorated beautifully and the owners were extremely helpful and welcoming. A lot of thought had been put into making sure the property was comfortable and provided all that a guest could want - in particular it was noted that, unlike other holiday cottages, the property was equipped with a generous supply of toilet roll, kitchen roll and dishwasher tablets as well as charcoal for the bbq! The welcome package was very much appreciated and the thought put into accomodating the dogs was also extensive! The dogs loved the secure garden, it was a beautiful sunny aspect and we loved sitting out in it too! Must also mention how wonderful the shower was! This is often a downfall of other properties but here the shower was large, strong and hot!

We had a wonderful stay at Greystones. Very much enjoyed the secluded village location and the secure garden was perfect for our 5 whippets- no chance of escaping and getting up to mischief- so we could let them out without any worry.
Greystones has lots of character and, as a keen cook, had everything I could have needed in the kitchen.
The house felt spacious- although only 2 people out 5 dogs can make their presence felt but this wasn’t an issue here.
The woodland walk and orchard are also very handy.
Sutcombe was a great base for exploring North Devon and Cornwall and we particularly loved the ford at the end of the greenway as you turn left out of the drive.
Our hosts were very helpful and accommodating but also very discreet- you didn’t feel in any way intruded upon.
Whilst we didn’t need it this time, the adjoining granary would be fantastic for any future trips we may make with relatives too.
All in all, a brilliant and genuinely dog friendly venue and we will be back for more!
PS. The welcome trays for both dogs and humans were delicious and enjoyed by all.

This was an ideal choice of cottage for our spring stay in Devon. Whilst the weather was not the best for late April, with frequent showers and below average temperatures, the cottage was well heated at all times. We brought our two elderly Labradors and they enjoyed the small enclosed garden, as well as the local woodland and beach walks. The lounge was provided with large throws for the two settees, so drifting dog hairs would not be a problem,
The cottage was immaculately clean and well provided with plates, mugs, and cutlery. The kitchen is small, but well thought out with a good cooker and fridge, although the freezer space within the fridge is very limited. The bathroom is warm and spacious with a good, strong shower.
The location in the countryside was great, with a spring chorus of birds in the morning and a display of birds including a woodpecker on the bird feeders in the courtyard. Daily trips to places of interest included the excellent RHS Rosemoor, Bude and its beaches, Sandymouth beach (amazing rock formations) and Great Torrington, a lovely unspoilt town (time-warped?) with great walks along the side of the castle walls.
We had a great stay here and would recommend it 100%.

Excellent farmhouse cottage which is full of original character. From the beams to the large solid doors, huge stone fireplace and the widest staircase I've ever come across, what's not to like! With two good sized double bedrooms (one can be converted into two singles) looking out onto a beautiful rear garden, it really is stunning. If you have dogs I would one hundred percent recommend Graystone's. I stayed with family and my daughters two dogs and found it to be the most genuine pet friendly accommodation I have ever visited. The owners provided covers for the sofas and beds, dog bowls, dog bags and a dog bin in the carparking area. The rear garden was fully(and I mean FULLY) enclosed so the dogs could run free. The cottage was clean, warm and very relaxing. There was a good supply of logs for the log burner with extra in the Clome Oven room if needed. The owners really have thought of everything. Set in a quiet rural area but not far from local towns. Excellent .

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Greystones and once again everything was perfect. We stayed with our three dogs and the setup makes it so easy, a fully enclosed private garden, a shared enclosed orchard, throws on the sofa, bowls, dog towels and even a bag of tasty treats for them to enjoy. Of course the humans were well looked after too with a lovely tray of goodies on arrival.

We came back to stay at Greystones as it had everything we needed for a nice relaxing break. It’s a great location in a nice quiet village with a selection of beaches within about half an hour. The hosts Chris and Laura are very welcoming and ensure you have everything you need for your stay. Of course it’s also lovely to meet their two gorgeous dogs too. We hope to visit again soon.

Greystones is a lovely old cottage set in the beautiful North Devon countryside with everything you need for a true home from home holiday. The hosts went above and beyond to help during our stay to truly make us all feel comfortable, including getting more rugs so our nervous dog felt comfortable walking on the slate floor. I really recommend Greystones for a relaxing holiday. The hosts have thought of everything you might need whilst you are there. The garden is a lovely spot to relax, the woodland walk and orchard are great for walking your woof! It is in an ideal location for getting away from it all but still close enough to great walks, beaches and towns to have things to do daily.

What a truly lovely cottage. Very clean. Immaculately kitted out. Quality practical and tasteful. The garden was the star of the show to be able to sit out eating breakfast in a peaceful beautiful and totally secure dog garden was a dream. It was truly dog friendly with lots of lovely touches. A dog bowl each, biscuits for each and very thoughtful welcome pack for the humans. The hosts were helpful but not intrusive. The cottage itself oozes history. The bats and nature there are a plus. If you have limited mobility just be mindful the steps to the bedroom require some care but the hand rails are very good. Would absolutely stop here again.

Chris and Laura have worked very hard in providing an outstandingly clean and well equipped holiday cottage. It is certainly 100% dog friendly, which was one of the main reasons I booked to stay at Greystones. Not knowing North Devon, had I realised it was quite so well hidden in the depths of the country and not easy to find without the help of a Satnav, I would probably not have booked.

I would also add that it is not really suitable for someone who is moderately disabled or sight impaired as it is an old cottage on lots of levels. Not a problem for younger people and the dogs loved scampering up and down the stairscase!

Whilst they have gone the extra mile in making their guests feel very welcome with fresh flowers and lovely touches such as a locally baked cake, fresh milk and fudge, I have maked them down for comfort. The two sofas in the lounge at not the most comfortable and the pillows on the beds need to be re-thought. I actually went out on the first morning and bought some alternatives. They also need to re-set the TV channels as they are all over the place and we gave up trying to watch the TV in the lounge.

The garden is fabulous and the dogs really enjoyed it and I loved the fact it was completely safe. The location is such that to get anywhere you do need to undertake a journey and in some cases on not the easiest roads as they are hilly and narrow with little space when you meet an oncoming tractor.

However, they have worked hard to think of everything you may need and they have also ensured that dogs are looked after.

Chris and Laura replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for your review, we do work hard to keep Greystones clean and well equipped. Thank you for your compliments. We understand you didn’t enjoy driving along the Devon country lanes. Our location at ‘Town Farm Devon Holidays’ is listed on Google maps, linked from our website, and we provided detailed written directions for your arrival via either Okehampton or Barnstaple. Upon request, prior to booking, we emailed a detailed floor layout for Greystones with all steps/stair heights measured (along with doorway/ceiling heights) with some extra photos of the staircase, to help you make an informed decision about the suitability of Greystones for your stay. Chris has re-checked Greystones Smart TV, the channels are listed according to the freeview autotune, against our regional frequencies. We appreciate some channels may be in a different ‘order’, or channel number to your home location. We provide two different styles of sofa in Greystones, as we appreciate different guests may prefer different seat levels/sofa arm/back heights. We similarly appreciate pillows can be a very personal choice. Greystones bedroom pillows were all replaced during 2022. As we live on site, we would have appreciated the opportunity to provide alternative pillows, and perhaps retune the TV to make your stay more accommodating. Thank you for your compliments about our welcome tray, and we are glad you enjoyed the garden, it is a lovely spot to sit and relax, knowing the dogs are safe.

Greystones is the perfect holiday cottage, highly recommended.

Greystones is a lovely holiday cottage and set up with everything that you need. Chris and Laura were very welcoming and made sure that everything was perfect for our stay from a welcome tray of goodies on our arrival to logs for the fire and biscuits for the dogs.

It is very dog friendly with an secure enclosed garden (nice tall fencing) and a lovely orchard (also fenced although not quite as tall as the enclosed garden) for the dogs to run around and play in. Bowls, dog towels, throws for the sofa are all provided and there is a warm outside shower to wash off muddy dogs. We were even able to borrow a crate for our puppy which really saved on car space!

We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay there again and recommend to others.
