It was our 2nd stay at The Kennelman. This time around we didn’t get to see Richard and Fiona (who are absolutely lovely & so friendly) however, they still answered any text messages very promptly & their son was also there to great us, etc.
The electric charger was very useful again and the property lived up to our memories. The welcome pack is always a delight, especially when you arrive late and are desperate for a nice cuppa, etc.
The field at the back of the property is wonderful to sit in (& our dog enjoys it too ) - I sat there many a morning (cuppa in hand) enjoying the view, the warm breeze and the silence (apart from the wind going through the trees and the occasional ).
The location of the property is fab. It’s within easy reach (via car) to various local beaches, and the addition of The Running Fox is great too. Will definitely be visiting this property again

Run, don't walk and book your stay! This was our 2nd stay and again we couldn't fault the accomodation or hosts Richard and Fiona. The cottage is so comfortable with everything you'd ever need for a fab holiday. The pet blankets, drying towels and biscuits are well received by our dog and the basket of local goodies for us is well thought out - I'm now addicted to the Northumbrian Satsuma juice! The walled garden is ideal for dogs and lovely breakfasts in the sun.
Richard is full of good advice on what to do in Northumberland and is always happy to help with any queries.
Highly recommended. We'll be back!

We have just returned from The Kennelman, our 5 th visit! Possibly the best place we have ever stayed….a stunning location, with amazing scenery and the accomadation modern, light, and spotlessly clean.. well equipped kitchen with everything you could wish for, comfy beds and lovely bathrooms…. even treats for our dog, water bowls etc…quality food treats left that are so appreciated, and owner Richard certainly goes the extra mile or 10! On hand if you need anything… a super host! Even taking in our supermarket shop before our arrival.. though the local shop just half a mile away has absolutely everything! The ‘Running Fox’ just over the road is a real treat with delicious food served all day and the beautiful pub is part of the same building!! Our little garden has the most stunning views and with a lovely picnic table provides the perfect touch for a quiet lunch/tea or you can just soak up the peace and quiet strolling through the grounds with its lovely wildlife and flowers! Would not hesitate in recommending this wonderful holiday property! First class in every way!!! A big Thankyou!!

This is an excellent cottage in beautiful peaceful surroundings which has been furnished to a high standard with everything you could need. Richard was a very friendly sociable host with lots of local knowledge and was very happy to help at all times. The welcome pack was full of lovely local produce and much appreciated. There is a very good cafe (great breakfasts) and a friendly pub in the village. There is lots of walking in the surrounding area with and the Cheviots are within easy reach - the coast is very accessible too. This was our first visit and we will hopefully be back again.

Thank you for our fabulous break in the Kennelman. The garden is a beautiful place to sit if you just want a lazy day with a book. Alternatively, the location is great for travelling to lots of lovely places (Bamburgh, with a walk along the beach to Seahouses for fish and chips/ Cragside (NT) for great walks around the estate / Alnwick (castle or gardens and there's a fab second hand book shop in the town centre). The Kennelman has a lovely secure garden if you're taking your dog. If you're not a pet lover, no need to worry, there was no indication that any pets had been in the cottage. The welcome pack was yummy and really considerate of local produce. The owner was always on hand, very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. All in all a great stay and would happily recommend and stay again.

We chose the "Kennelman" as our base for or a week long off-season holiday during March 2026. The accomodation was lovely and completely met the needs of the two humans guests and our pooch. The local area was lovely and we returned home very happy and relaxed.

We stayed here over Christmas when visiting our son so we regularly come to this area and we were not disappointed. The accommodation was immaculate and surpassed expectation- this is a classy venue and typical of Northumberland vibe! Rural, peaceful and warm and welcoming. Host was accommodating, responsive and friendly - even over Christmas he attended to our needs and even decorated the cottage for Christmas. I’m loathed to give too good a review as it’s so close to our family we need availability on a regular basis- it’s a perfect retreat in the country with a touch of elegance.

My stay at Northumberland Cottages at Breamish House was truly amazing!! We stayed in the Kennelman Cottage. Richard and Fiona were so friendly & welcoming! They met us upon arrival to welcome us and show us around the cottage(which is absolutely beautiful). There was a cute welcome basket which had jam, biscuits, bread, coffee, etc. The views around the cottages are just stunning! Such a beautiful place for taking walks and soaking it all in! There was an adorable cafe/pub just up the drive with a small store about a 10 minute walk with all your needs. The cottages are in a quaint small village not far from so many amazing things to see! Richard & Fiona were so helpful and knowledgeable about the area and beyond. They gave us great ideas on places to visit, eat or just sightsee. I truly cannot thank them enough for their hospitality!!
This was my first trip out of the states and I could not have asked for a better place to stay or for better people to be my hosts!! So if you are thinking about going on Holiday, I highly recommend you check out these cottages, and hopefully you don’t choose my dates because I will DEFINITELY be going back!!!

This was our 2nd visit to Northumberland Cottages at Breamish House this year. The views are just incredible and we just had to come back for another visit. The hosts Richard and Fiona are just so warm and welcoming, helpful and very knowledgable about the local areas.
The Kennelman was equipped with everything you could need for your stay. The host’s attention to detail is excellent.
It was beautifully decorated, very clean and the welcome basket with lots of local produce is a really lovely touch. The kitchen and bathrooms were equipped with everything you could need. The bedrooms had extremely comfortable super king beds and more than enough storage space for all your belongings.
We can’t recommend this place enough. You will definitely not be disappointed.

The location is good as although a little remote, the village includes a pub and well stocked garage shop and is only a short walk away. Our third visit now to the Kennelman. The accomadation is superbly equipped and immaculate! the hosts have made sure there is everything in place for a very enjoyable comfortable stay. Included and appreciated were the quality groceries etc waiting on arrival. A welcoming touch were pretty flowers on the table. Richard is a great host and nothing too much trouble, we love the very secure back garden for our dog, that is so quiet, and a real sun trap! Coupled with beautiful scenery and lovely village! An easy drive to coast too! Cannot recommend enough!!

We stayed at The Kennelman in March 2025 for a special Mother’s Day weekend, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. We were met by the host Richard who was extremely helpful and looking forward to meeting him again when we return.
The cottage is stunning — beautifully decorated with a cozy, welcoming feel, and all the modern comforts you could ask for. Every little detail has been thought through, and it felt like a true home away from home. The peaceful surroundings were ideal for a relaxing break, and we loved the mix of countryside charm and luxury touches. The cottage was a lovely place to relax in the evenings, and waking up to those serene views each morning was just magical.
The location is perfect for exploring Northumberland, and we enjoyed some scenic walks and enjoyed coffee and cake at the Running Fox cafe now opened in the village just moments from the cottage. It was the ideal setting for a memorable Mother's Day celebration.
Highly recommend The Kennelman — we’re already thinking about when we can come back!

This was our second visit. First was with family in the 3 bed option. This time just the 2 of us with our dog in the 2 bed which is all downstairs.
Once again it was very clean and the location is brilliant for the dog.
The Plough pub at end of the drive is now open so we went for drinks on a couple of evenings. Lovely pub, reasonable prices, friendly folk and VERY dog friendly.
Communication was fantastic once again and the weather was kind for us.
Loved Alnwick market and if you like reading then a visit to Barter Books there is a must.
Another amazing stay and we will certainly be back.

We were recommended by a friend, and the property did not disappoint ! A wonderful location with breathtaking views from the cottage making it a delight to sit in the lovely garden, that is practical and secure for any dog guests! Perfect peace!!The well designed interior is light and spacious and beautifully furnished, comfy sofas and well equipped kitchen, a thoughtful welcoming pack was left for us and a supermarket shop received and unpacked for our arrival! Very comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms, very clean and quite luxurious Lovely hosts Richard and Fiona met us on arrival and waved us off on departure, very helpful and there if needed! Nothing too much trouble…did I mention their gorgeous dog? beaches an easy drive away, lovely pub and village convenience store/ petrol station…would strongly recommend and certainly will return!

We had a lovely, relaxing time staying in the Kennelman Cottage. It was very clean and comfortable. We visited Harthope Valley, the standing stones at Duddo and had trips to Alnwick and Wooler. It's a lovely area to keep going back to and the cottage is a great base.

The property was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Views of the countryside with great walks on the doorstep and so peaceful. Many places to visit nearby should you prefer something different.
We were with my daughter her husband, baby and dog. The layout was perfect as they took one of the double bedrooms (with room for a ‘next to me crib’) and family bathroom downstairs. There was also another double bedroom with ensuite shower room on the other side of the bathroom with a hallway, separated from the living space by a solid wood door. We were in the double bedroom with en- suite shower room upstairs-again separated from the living space by a solid wood door. All of this meant we all had our privacy and we weren’t disturbed by each other but we could still spend time together in the spacious open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen area. It’s worth saying the kitchen is fully equipped with anything you would need to prepare family meals, and a full dinner service to use. From experience this isn’t always the case when staying in holiday cottages. There was also a welcome pack with products from local suppliers (bread rolls biscuits coffee etc). The hosts Richard and Fiona are very welcoming and on hand should you need anything. I would certainly recommend staying here and hope to return soon.

This is a really lovely place to stay. The cottage was clean and luxurious. Bed was huge and very comfortable.
Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming to both us and our dog. Garden area was also very secure for the dog.
Loads to explore in the surrounding area with good walks and places to eat.
I can’t recommend highly enough, we will be back.

We had a fantastic weekend staying in the Kennelman Cottage (2 bedroom option). It was spotless, spacious and very well appointed. There is so much to do in the area. Highlights were a walk on the old Cornhill branch line and learning its history, Alnwick parkrun, Adder spotting, Edlingham Castle and finally, just relaxing in the cottage. We will be back!

We stayed in The Kennelman Cottage for a Long-Weekend and truly loved this peaceful place and it’s beautiful views of the Northumberland Countryside.
The accommodation was pristine clean and immaculate throughout with great amenities. We were able to unpack and immediately start our holiday, as everything we required was on-hand and easily accessible. The Cottage Handbook explained everything we needed to know, so there were no issues at all.
The Hosts, Richard and Fiona, were extremely welcoming and wanted us to have a great stay - which we did! Their recommendations for local walks from the Cottage door were super and we particularly enjoyed strolling through the Valley to the Ingram Cafe.
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable Weekend Winter Break and will return in the Summer for longer to explore more of this stunning corner of Northumberland. We will also look forward to trying the new Plough Pub and Running Fox Bakery that we’re told are opening up in the village very soon.
