I was looking for quiet, peace and seclusion. Westlea Cottage delivered on all these. The walking was good, restful surroundings, bea seeutiful trees. A very comfortable cottage, all good!

Westlea is a superb homely cottage surrounded by agriculture and big open skies. We enjoyed peace and quiet, wildlife and great walks with our dogs, visiting friends nearby - the main purpose of our visit and the fabulous Moray Coast. We especially liked the commitment to recycling and the environment both in the cottage and on the farm.

The cottage is very well equipped with everything that you could possibly need. Kate was very accommodating with information about our booking and provided a very nice welcome pack. The information folders were very comprehensive and contained a history of the farm that I found very interesting and the usual spots to visit as well as the user manuals for appliances.

We hope to visit again.

This was our 5th stay at Ardmiddle Mains cottages and we are always very happy with the lovely cosy clean cottages. Well equipped and in a lovely setting with fabulous views. Kate the owner is now our friend and is always helpful and is very knowledgeable on the area and places to visit. We shall definitely be back to our second home.

The owner Kate when above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed.
Ardmiddle Mains appears on my fathers birth certificate 1913.
So we had a very interesting stay and enjoyed every minute of the peace and quiet.

We stayed at Westlea for a wedding over at Aswanley. We have a toddler so prefer to stay somewhere with a kitchen etc. The cottage was really well equipped with a great kitchen including an oven that we weren't expecting along with the usual microwave, kettle etc.
The bed was very comfortable and big enough for three of us when the toddler doesn't want her cot anymore.
We were there for Easter and the weather was gorgeous but cold. Thankfully the heating worked well and by the time we were leaving the cottage was cosy but it needs a few days to properly warm up. The fire was nice to look at.
The internet worked quickly and the TV had Freeview.
The front garden was relatively enclosed to be able to keep the toddler in one place but there are a few escape locations so they do need to be supervised although there is very little traffic. The swingset was fantastic!
The views and setting are beautiful. If we'd been there in warmer weather we would have eaten outside a lot
Overall we'd come back...

This is our 4th visit to Westlea/Eastwood cottages and we keep going back as they are the cleanest, most comfortable and cosy cottages we have ever stayed in. Great location 5 minutes from Turriff. Wonderful views, peaceful and fully equipped cottages. Kate the owner is so friendly and helpful . Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Scotland.

Once again a perfect location, castles, seaside, fishing and country walks all within a stones throw of the cottage. As usual Kate was the perfect host with a lovely welcome pack and a comprehensive guide of surrounding amenities which is very useful if you haven’t been before. There is a lovely garden and pleasant walks on your doorstep and as we have a dog it’s perfect for him as well. Subsequently rebooked for next year.

I have lost count of how many times I have returned to Ardmiddle cottages for a great holiday! As usual, I received a great welcome from Kate to a comfortable, well-equipped cottage set in the heart of lovely countryside. It is within easy reach of the Buchan, Banffshire and Moray coasts, where you will find many attractive beaches, harbours, towns and villages. The town of Turriff is just a short drive away and nearby Fyvie Castle is well worth a visit. I'll be back!

It was our second time staying at Westlea Cottage, Kate had the cottage ready for us and even had some lovely Scottish treats waiting.

The Cottage is nice with a lovely garden and great views over the countryside. It's in a great location to explore Aberdeenshire and the Cairngorms. We look forward to staying there again in the future!

This was my third holiday at Westlea Cottage and it was a delight to return again. The cottage is in excellent condition, very clean and comes with everything you need, including a well equipped kitchen. Our friendly and welcoming host Kate keeps the cottage very well maintained and provides a lovely Scottish food hamper on arrival.

The cottage is in a beautiful position surrounded by rolling farmland. You can easily walk to the top of the hill above the cottage for great views over Turriff and the surrounding countryside, with many acres of golden fields of barley to be seen. Look out for deer and hares roaming too!

It is located just 4 miles from Turriff where a full range of facilities is available, and is within easy reach of the coast and its many lovely beaches and harbour villages. Fyvie Castle with its Lochside walk is nearby and well worth a visit.

Thanks again Kate, I'll be back for sure!

As always a very nice welcome pack of goodies awaited us on our arrival full of local treats. The cottage is surrounded by glorious countryside amid a working farm, however it is dog friendly and great for long walks; with no animals on the farm a well behaved dog has plenty of space to stretch it’s legs. The cottage has all the amenities required for a self catering holiday and is ideally situated for those wishing to explore castles, fishing, whisky distilleries and local attractions, the coast is nearby with glorious beaches and safe swimming. Kate as always is on hand if there are any questions and is an excellent host always helpful and friendly.

We chose Ardmiddle Mains cottages for their location as we were planning to visit the small coastal towns on the Moray coast and also many of the castles in the same area.The location was perfect for our purpose with the added bonus of being close to Turriff which has excellent shopping facilities and eating places.The accommodation was very well equipped and extremely comfortable.
It would be helpful if there were some signs on the farm directing drivers to the various properties as they are well spaced apart.

I have stayed here several times before and always look forward to returning. Our friendly host Kate takes great care looking after these cottages which provide an excellent holiday getaway destination. They are beautifully situated in a quiet rural location, from where lovely countryside walks are possible.

Just 4 miles from Turriff it is a good location from which to explore the nearby Buchan, Banffshire and Moray coastline with its beautiful beaches and fishing villages. A visit to nearby Fyvie Castle is also to be recommended.

The cottage is well maintained, with all the necessary facilities and a lovely garden.

I look forward to my next visit!

From the first contact, Kate was an amazing host. Always quick to respond and incredibly helpful. The cottage itself is one of two nestled in a small valley not far from the farm yet only a few minutes' drive to Turriff. Outside there is a lovely, large garden, plus picnic bench and barbecue. Inside there is everything you need for a comfortable stay – plus the most generous welcome basket you could imagine! A well-equipped kitchen, including a washing machine and dishwasher, made life very easy. Everything was clean and Kate's Covid regime meant it felt very safe. There's no phone signal but there is excellent wifi which for us was absolutely fine. Next time we're back in the area, I know where we'll be staying!

The cottage was well situated and had everything we needed for our stay, Kate the owner was very friendly and welcoming, it was pleasant to enjoy the experience.

We were staying as part of a house-hunting process and needed somewhere easy, relaxing and comfortable - this was totally perfect. There was everything we could possibly need - really well equipped kitchen was perfect for our self-catering. Nice bathroom too. We particularly enjoyed having the terrace and garden with lovely open views to have a restful end to our day. The owner could not have been more helpful and she does her guests proud.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little cottage set within the agricultural bounds of Ardmiddle Mains Farm, nestled between rolling fields of harvested malting barley with plenty of trees and varied scenery. The cottage was well appointed, clean and a delight to spend time in when not touring the area around Turriff. Our host was attentive and friendly ensuring we had all we needed. The little basket of local produce, including a small jar of recently home made raspberry jam, was well received and enjoyed. We particularly enjoyed reading the host’s information pack, including details of her family’s exploits over the years relating to the running of the farm and their personal achievements in the community and further afield. Although over 600 miles from where we live in Hampshire we hope to revisit at some time in the not too distant future.

Westlea was an excellent place to enjoy my two-week break. I received a great welcome from Kate who had prepared the cottage to her usual high standards. The cottage has everything you need and is located in a lovely rural location with plenty of opportunities to walk around the local countryside. It has a lovely, well-kept garden. Great views abound, particularly from the hill above the cottage.

It is a convenient location for exploring the coastal villages of Aberdeenshire and Moray. Shops, restaurants and take-away food outlets are all available in Turriff, just 3 miles away.

I'll be back!

Yet again a lovely week away from the stresses of Covid. An idyllic location, excellent amenities surrounded by beautiful countryside certainly gives one a chance to recharge the batteries. The cottage provides for everything and Kate is a lovely host who makes sure that you are happy. You are within easy reach of, fishing, golf, sea, whisky or castle trails. Or if you want peace and quiet with nice walks round the farm not a problem. Have booked again for next year and hopefully this time the Turriff Show will be up and running.

Everything was as hoped for, very clean comfortable cottage with a lovely welcome hamper of goodies waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage is dog friendly and there are some lovely walks to be had round the farm. There is an excellent folder of information with suggestions for visits if unsure of the area provided in the cottage. The cottage has everything you could want, microwave, oven, dishwasher etc etc.
It really has a fantastic location surrounded by fields and views but remember it is a working farm so you will on occasion tractors etc working, however the bonus is it’s a ways away from the farm buildings so any noise is occasional.
With plenty of parking off the road and a pleasant lawn to play/sit out on it’s perfect.

Stayed at Westlea Cottage for a week in August. Cottage was very cosy and well equipped and a real home from home. Lovely field views and 5 minutes drive from the town of Turriff which has a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Lovely touches like towels supplied and miniature shampoo, lotion etc in bathroom and well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, freezer and oven.

Easy to use electric heaters in each room and a log fire if needed but was warm enough with having the heaters on for a while.

Nice garden to sit in and plenty of parking at the front of the cottage.

Kate the owner is so very friendly and helpful and Sooty the cat is just so cute!

We shall certainly be back next year.

We had a wonderful stay for a week around new year in "Westlea" cottage. This cottage is one half of a small, old building with modern interior. ("Eastwood" cottage is the other half.) The cottage lies next to a street with almost no traffic, between the fields of Ardmiddle farm, 500 yards away from the other farm buildings. A small stream is running next to the estate. It must be nice to sit outside on a summer evening and listen to the sound of the water. On cold days the open fireplace (with free firewood) in the living room gives you a comfortable warmth. Living room and kitchen are sharing the same room. The bed room on the ground floor has a double bed. To get to the second bed room you have to climb a steep stair. There are two separated beds. Every room has it's own heating device. There where some minor faults, a clamping bedroom door, a loose door knob, but nothing serious. From the cottage it's less than 4 miles to Turriff where you find all kinds of shops, including a Tesco supermarket.

Westview, like all the cottages at Ardmiddle is comfortable and well situated. On arrival you find a welcome basket of snacks & biscuits.

On the whole myself and the family enjoyed every minute of the stay, having stayed there before, we knew what to expect and certainly not disappointed. Kate is an excellent hostess, who provides a home for home for her visitors. As a self catering cottage everything is provided for you, you don't need anything except yourself, food and personal items as Westlea caters for your every need, even down to Broadband. Set in some of the most beautiful Aberdeen-shire country side within a 55 acre farm, it provides a base for easy commuting to Inverness, Banff, Spey Bay, Aberdeen, Inverurie, Turiff and many more destinations which offer fantastic attractions around this amazing part of the country. If you are like me and don't like the city for one reason or another, then Westlea offers a peace and tranquility that is unsurpassed, it's a chance to see nature that we don't normally see. such as Red Deer coming down from the forest to within feet of you, or the birds of prey which hunt in the skies above. But if you are into adventure, then Westlea provides you with a central hub to explore the surrounding area and beyond, after all we are only limited by our own imagination. Thoroughly recommend...... Hopefully all being well, we'll book again next year....... Cannot wait!!!

Loved this cottage which is deep in the heart of the rural working farmland. Very quiet and lots of lovely walks yet only a short drive away from Turriff.
Just about everything you need for your stay has been thought about and is to be found on site.

Our only problem was with our age, we found the stairs straight out of the bedroom difficult in the middle of the night as the only toilet was downstairs & through the living area.

Another great stay at Ardmiddle, our second visit but the first time in Westlea. A comfortable cottage with everything you could ever want, even a welcome pack of snacks & biscuits. The cottage is set in the heart of the farm land & the views are beutiful. There's not many places where you can have a morning cup of tea whilst watching wild deer roaming only a few yards from the lounge window.
Kate's hospitality, as usual was second to none & we will definately be back, hopefully this year.

We spent 5 nights at Westlea and couldn't have been happier. The cottage was beautifully clean and extremely well equipped, warm and comfortable. The owner, Kate, was just down the road in case we had any problems, which we didn't, and had provided us with a wonderful welcome pack full of delicious Scottish goodies from local suppliers. The location was ideal for our purposes; there are dog walks straight from the cottage and it's just a ten minute drive to Turriff for all your shopping essentials. We visited Pennan and Banff on the coast and Bennachie for a lovely walk with our dog. Time permitting we would definitely like to return for a longer stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone.

I booked Westlea Cottage for my parents as a gift for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The cottage was beautiful. Clean, bright and well appointed in a quiet location with a neat garden. Kate was an excellent, knowledgeable and super friendly host. We stayed in the Westlea cottage, which was cosy, clean and had a well stocked kitchen and comfortably fit 4 adults and a baby. The cottages were 10 minutes outside of Turriff so it was convenient to stock up on groceries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We arrived on a fine day and was greeted very warmly by Kate. The cottage had been completly redecorated to a high standard and new heating had been installed. With all the comforts of home provided we made ourselves very comfortable. The kcation siited us and was very peaceful and relaxing. This cottage suited our needs very well. We had a person with restricted mobility and the downstairs bedroom and bathroom were just right for them. The cottage is in a lovely rural location and is very well equipped. Everything you need to light a fire in the evening and on the snowy day we were there we had a fire and it was very cosy.

We found Westlea a lovely location for a few days family holiday. It has an enormous garden which is great for the kids to run around in (though the swing was in a dangerous condition which was disappointing), surrounded by barley fields and wide open spaces. It is semi-detached next to another holiday home but this was vacant while we were there so we had the place to ourselves. The interior is comfortable but would benefit from an upgrade, and the wifi was efficient and very useful. The house isn't far from all the facilities of Turriff yet very tranquil. The small Tesco in Turriff provided all our basic needs and the swimming pool is only 5 minutes drive from the house. A great centre for touring many of the sites of the under-rated North East of Scotland, including the Banffshire Coast, Fyvie Castle, the great beaches and RSPB reserve south of Fraserburgh, and Haddo House.

I stayed at this little gem of a cottage while on a work trip, there was two of us and it was superb for what we required. Lovely rural location but only 5 mins drive into the local town where there is takeaways shops and supermarket.

We spent 3 nights at Westlea cottage at end of April.
The location is brilliant if, like us, you enjoy peace, quiet and open views.
The owner was very welcoming and helpful. Could have done without the snow - but that's Scotland. Snowed heavily one evening but it had disappeared by lunchtime next day.
We are interested in wildlife and historic sites - Pictish stones etc.
We saw plenty of birds, an otter at Forvie, deer in front of the cottage, rabbits etc. Location of the cottage was also central to the areas to visit Castles, Pictish stones, etc.
Managed, despite the snow to pack plenty into our 3 days.
All in all an enjoyable short stay.

We all enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Friendly welcome and very pleased to find out how well equipped the kitchen was with the dishwasher top of the list for that is one job I have never had to do since 1979 :-) Beautiful views and very private with Turriff a short drive away with some excellent shops.

Good place or relaxing and exploring. Would like to visit again, although it was summer the Aberdeenshire weather was a tad bit chilly and wet. Lovely to put the children into warm bed after a days exploration. The cottage had some board games and cards is a good edition. We didn't miss a big tv screen as the view out of the window was lovely. Kate the owner came round to see if we were okay half way through the week. A big thank you to Kate for all the little touches that made this holiday a good one.
