The Old Barn, which dates back to the 18th century, is a two storey luxury one bedroom holiday cottage, with upstairs open plan living space, featuring a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and many original features. The ground floor, which is tiled throughout with underfloor heating, features a large bedroom with vaulted ceiling and exposed stone wall and a luxury bathroom.
A large upper deck with glass balustrade provides a wonderful area to enjoy the outdoors from dawn till dusk, with far reaching views and animals grazing nearby.

We stayed at the Old Barn for 2 weeks in September. It was a fantastic holiday let, and we really couldn’t fault anything. Georgina and David were great hosts – on hand if we needed anything, but not at all intrusive. They’ve really thought of everything that people could need.

The barn conversion was very spacious for two, and very private. The seating and bed were super comfortable, and the whole place was spotlessly clean. We loved the big bath and the big walk-in shower, and we did quite a lot of cooking and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. The laundry equipment was also very useful for a longer stay.

Kellacott was a wonderfully peaceful place, and we loved feeding Georgina & David’s sheep and ram (and we admit to a few Dreamies for the cat…). We found the location to be brilliant – remote for the peace and quiet, but very well positioned to drive to a multitude of different places – most well within one hours’ drive. There was far more that we wanted to do, but just couldn’t fit it all in 2 weeks.

Some of our favourite places were Knightshayes Court (National Trust), Buckland Abbey (National Trust), Prideaux Place (Historic Houses), Tintagel Castle (English Heritage), Hartland Abbey, Trerice (National Trust) and Pencarrow House.

We had lovely walks at Sticklepath, Roadford Lake, Lydford Gorge (National Trust) and St Nectan’s Glen. St Mawgan was a pretty little village with a beautiful Japanese garden. Dartmoor was stunning, with lots of wild ponies by the roadside, and we had a very interesting visit to the Dartmoor Prison Museum. A really surprising find was The Story of Emily – an immersive and unique telling of the life of Emily Hobhouse (and a lovely restaurant with South African food).

A day spent at Clovelly was well worth it – a small fishing village with steep cobbled streets, and donkeys and sledges instead of cars! And if you’re young at heart (or just love animals), a visit to Pennywell Farm is a must – we cuddled 2-week old piglets and bottle fed the baby goats, and many other delights.

The Strawberry Fields farm shop and restaurant was a lovely place with good food. The Tors Inn at Belstone was fully booked, sadly, but the outside seating area had views to die for. We had breakfast at the Jamaica Inn, which was (unsurprisingly) very touristy, but the food was good. And if you like Indian meals, the Ganges Tandoori Indian Restaurant at Tavistock is great!

You don’t need to worry about the weather – we had one week of rain and one week of sun, and found plenty to do. We would love to return to the Old Barn in future. Credit to Georgina and David – they’ve done a fabulous renovation job, and we hope to meet them again one day.

Higher Kellacott barn is the best cottage we have had the privilege of enjoying. The conversion is of the highest standard and you can see the love David and Georgina poured into it. Absolutely beautiful. It was restfully quiet and only 30-40 minute drive to nearby sites of interest. Fifteen minutes to shops. Our hosts we gracious and kind. Loved our stay and hope to return!

David and Georgina are great hosts that couldn't do enough for you.
The old Barn is a beautiful place to stay with so much attention to detail. The old Barn is so well equipped with every thing you could possibly need.
A lot of thought and effort has gone into the making of this barn to bring it to such a high standard given the fact it's also pet friendly.
The location of the Old Barn allows for total peace and quiet. The upper and lower out door seating areas are great allowing you to enjoy the sun and look out over the field's. If it's too hot you can sit underneath in the shade.

Really enjoyed our visit in the beautiful barn, space worked well inside and outside and inside was done to a high standard and was immaculate. All was peaceful and relaxing, loved sitting on the veranda in the morning and evening. Willow (our dog) enjoyed watching the sheep and the fully enclosed field to run around. The Gluten free bread was lovely and really appreciated the birthday card. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a base for a holiday in Devon / Cornwall. The hosts were very welcoming and would attend to any of our needs.

After a day of walking on Dartmoor, one can’t beat sitting on the balcony of the Old Barn, listening to the bees buzzing, the sheep munching & the birds singing. Higher Kellacott is a delightful retreat overlooking a vista of Dartmoor. And yet, one is minutes away from the A30 (which one can’t hear) & the Strawberry fields farm shop & cafe with “all you need.” Georgina & David are warm, welcoming hosts who have not only made beau self catering accommodation but also make delicious honey. We shall definitely return.

This was our second time staying at The Old Barn, and it was every bit as magical as we remembered – the perfect place to celebrate my birthday! Georgina and David are outstanding hosts, and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and completely at home.

The Old Barn is beautifully presented – spotless, stylish, and full of thoughtful touches that show how much care and attention has gone into every detail. The peaceful setting, cosy atmosphere, and warm, inviting interiors make it the ultimate escape from everyday life.

We had such a wonderful and relaxing stay that we’ve already booked our third visit for my next birthday – it really is that special. Huge thanks to Georgina and David for another unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to return!

The old barn was such a lovely place to stay. The views are to die for. We spent 5 days here and wished we could of stayed longer. Georgina and David were such wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. It is a very central location for Devon and going into Cornwall. We will definitely be returning.

The Old Barn was an ideal place to stay for a peaceful and tranquil break. The barn is beautifully appointed with high quality furnishing and equipment. The bed is wonderful and bathroom very luxurious. Georgina and a David were excellent hosts, available and responsive when needed. The view from the verandah was the highlight where we could watch the sheep, chickens and birds. In summary a high quality property with many lovely well thought out features. We would not hesitate to recommend and will return.

Located 2 miles off of the A30 this freshly renovated Barn is an absolute gem. We were met by the owners along with Misty the black lab (who our dog loved) and shown around the property which has been completed to a very high standard. Open plan with all the mod cons and an elevated decking that provides the perfect viewing platform out into the fields where watching the sheep, lambs, geese and chickens roaming free puts the icing on the cake to the perfect find. There's ample parking even for the larger type SUVs.

We arrived with no idea of what to do or where to go but Gorgina has a file in the property explaining all the places to go and things to see. We went on a drive / stroll on Dartmoor day 1 and Tintagel Castle and Port Isaac day two. All dog friendly locations and worth a visit.

In short, it's well worth a visit and highly recommended by us and the dog.

Staying at the Higher Kellacott Old Barn was incredible, so much so that we just wanted to cosy up inside rather than go exploring! Everything was thought of; its basically a 5-star hotel in a quaint old barn that's full of charm and all the moden amenities you could want. It's truly a home away from home, with so much space and a delightful outdoor patio that looks out over a field with sheep and geese - this is truly a place to relax and switch off in comfort!

Georgina & David were exceptional hosts, ensuring every aspect of our stay was perfect. … It even came with fresh eggs from the hosts’ chickens! Not only was the accommodation pristine and impecably clean, but Georgina was also incredibly accommodating, providing invaluable insights into the local area's best hiking routes and local sights. Thr surroundings are stunning, and there is so much to see and do nearby!

Higlights for me: Electric fire, giant bath, spacious rooms, underfloor heating that made it so cosy, huge patio that looks over an incredible view, easy to access, bath robes in the wardrobe, everything you could need to cook a 3-course meal or bake a cake!!

I highly recommend! Thank you for an unforgettable experience — I'll definitely be returning in the summer to try the bee-keeping course (and stock up on more of their delicious honey)!
