A relaxing rural retreat for 1 or 2 guests in the heart of the Scottish Borders away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We booked our chill-out break, using the 'Coolstays' website, for the first time. The Greenhouse even has it's own app, which is an excellent source of information and really useful, even before we went.
We spent 5 nights at the Greenhouse, this was our first adventure to the Borders and booking a cabin instead of a hotel or spending time on a boat.
We had a lovely drive to the Greenhouse with sunshine showing the trees autumn colours to their best.
On our arrival, we were greated by homemade 'oat and raisin' cookies and eggs from the resident hens. The cabin was just as advertised, with lots of calming greens and natural wood furnishings, we loved the modern rocking chair. On the clear evenings we could see lots of stars and perhaps the aurora, we are yet to learn how to use our cameras to get great photos, perhaps next time.
We had booked to visit the Trimonteum Museum at Melrose, with its VR experience - great if you are interested in seeing your history rather than reading about it. There are also lots of lovely shops in Melrose, as well as the Abbey and cafés.

Our host had also researched when the local farmers markets were and found out there was an 'Apple Festival' on at the weekend. So we visited the local Selkirk market on the saturday, which had lots of artists and makers stalls to brouse around. On the sunday we took a drive to the 'Woodside Plant Centre and Birdhouse Tearoom' a beautiful drive and on arrival were were greated by a walled garden. There were lots of different varieties of apples on display as well as juicying stands. The Tearoom even had apple soup on the menu. It was so sunny for a while I had to remove my jacket and fleece.

The Greenhouse itself has some useful guidebooks, maps and even binoculars. There are interesting animals to discover in the surrounding fields, but we will let you discover what types of animals. I did try the hammock swing chair too, we probably should have planned to spend more time just chiiling at the cabin but there are lots of places to discover. There is also the Cross Keys pub to walk too, a must for the menu and warm hosts. We even saw a hedgehog out for an evening stroll, when we were returning from a fantastic meal at the Cross Keys.

The Green House was absolutely stunning. There are so many things we loved about it. It was spotlessly clean. The interior design was beautiful. There were so many lovely touches, the hosts Verity and Mark had thought of everything. Things like hot water bottles, insulated mugs, a big fluffy blanket and a book on star gazing! We enjoyed hot chocolates on the outside sofa while looking at the stars! We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on our last night! We loved the porch swing and day bed, such a lovely idea! The location of the cabin was perfect, close to things to do and lovely walks but far enough away to be peaceful and private to. We enjoyed dinner at the Cross Keys Inn which was a short walk from Green House, it was delicious and the Inn has recently won Best Pub in the South of Scotland! We had such a wonderful time! Thank you Verity and Mark!

Verity and Mark are exceptional hosts.

We had a lovely few days at the Green House. Having stayed previously in the first Green House and meeting Verity and Mark. We knew that we would not be disappointed. They are exceptional hosts and we love the location. The new Green House is a great retreat to have a holiday in.
Thank you both.

A great place to get away from the busyness of life. A quiet, relaxed and tidy space, with a lovely host to help ensure you enjoy your experience.

Near to various hills and lochs for walking, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife - grouse, deer and much more - with a good local pub, and a variety of historic and more modern attractions in the nearby towns - particularly considering the history of the area.

A bit more of a trek, but only an hour and a half from Edinburgh (with options to use car/rail/park and ride), so suitable for a day trip to the capital too which we did (driving up to the park and ride).

Would throughly recommend.

stayed here on Saturday night, it was immaculate and so cosy the bed was a king size and was very comfortable, the outdoor day bed was amazing we lay out for hours lying under the stars there was plenty of throws and hot water bottles to keep you warm. the host was lovely popped over for 2 mins when we first arrived then we didn't see anyone again apart from the lovely alpacas in the morning. we will definitely be back.

The new Greenhouse is a lovely comfortable and peaceful place to stay. The welcome from Verity and Mark was as excellent as always and everything was as well prepared as usual. We had a lovely time despite the cold and stormy weather.
