The open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area are complete with beautiful open beams and a cosy log effect fire situated in a charming stone fireplace.

We adored The Stable at Broadmea. The whole place was organised very effectively, beautifully clean and spacious and very stylish yet homely - my young son settled in immediately. The hot tub was gorgeous and had a stunning view of hills and sheep and swooping birdlife - so easy to relax! The beds were out of this world for comfort. We had people staying in the place next door but we barely knew they were there so we had privacy and peace.

We found the surrounding countryside breathtaking and there was plenty to do to occupy the family whether you're into heritage sites or more active pursuits like cycling and walking, you'd be spoilt for choice. We hired bikes, having them delivered from a local company which meant we could make the most of the myriad of routes on the doorstep. There were walks of all kinds of challenge from little strolls to big hikes in the immediate environment. Close to home was a little railway, some fantastic waterfalls (forces) to visit and two great food shops included a butchers in Alston, so cooking at home was a breeze. There was a lovely farm shop and cafe which didn't manage to get to but it's nearby and well-regarded. Further afield, we took a drive over the border to Scotland for the afternoon. The Stable is in easy reach of the Lakes and Newcastle, too, despite being in a lovely remote and peaceful location.

Our hosts were ever so helpful with advice and letting us know we were very looked-after - they genuinely care about the details and look after their places and you whilst giving you space to enjoy yourselves and unwind. I am recommending The Stable and the general area to all my friends. Plus, we thought it was excellent value for money, considering the quality of the cottage and its high standards of furnishing and comfort.

Broadmea - The Stables was an excellent choice for us. It was recommended by my Aunt so that we could attend her 80th birthday party.

The photographs were stunning so it was a very easy choice to book. The photos are beautiful but I am not sure they do it justice. The décor is so well thought out. We were very busy the weekend of my Aunt's party and so we did not get to stay in the house as much as we would have liked. One day we will return for a longer break and really soak up this great 3 bedroom property.

All rooms were of a good size. My sister has Parkinsons and so the ground floor bed room, with bolstered bed legs and bathroom with no shower threshold was an amazing addition.

The Hot tub was perfect and it was enjoyed by us all.

Everything was pristine, my daughter is autistic and we sometimes have to take our own bedding as she does not trust the cleanliness of others. We did not need to use it in this instance.

My cousins were staying in The Barn next door, their place was also stunning. I gave a gasp when I went into their house. In all a fantastic stay, would highly recommend.

We stayed here in May 2024 with my family, I can honestly say it was the best decision, the accommodation is perfect, so cosy and homely but still with that added touch of luxury. Everything has been thought through and we were looked after so well.
We loved it that much that we booked to come again in the summer before we left!

Brilliant for a relaxing family get away 10/10 from us

The Stable is beautifully appointed, providing spacious accommodation and furnished with flair and attention to detail. Located in a spectacular position with far reaching views, we never tired of simply looking at the views! The kitchen has everything you could need, and the large dining table was very welcome when family came to visit us. With ample parking, a private garden and the added bonus of the hot tub we only wished we had booked for two weeks.
There are great walks right from the front door, the viaduct is breath taking, a pretty station in the village complete with steam train, and fantastic farm shop with the most amazing café nearby. For those wanting to explore further afield, Hadrian's wall is very close, as too is Hexham and Newcastle.
Patricia takes pride in her cottages and business, and was always available if we needed anything, We will certainly be returning for another visit, I just hope that everyone else isn't trying to rebook for the same week!

After five or six years didn't think it would get better This time we asked for the bed to be raised as I struggle with my access No problem raisers supplied and fitted Simply brilliant service and little things like that are really appreciated
Can not recommend this place any higher You will not be disappointed if you choose

Beautiful place to stay with family and friends to relax with both the accommodation and surroundings. My only issue was that I have a miniature dachshund which liked to play a game of sneaking out under the garden gate sometimes, so a little more dog security for the smaller dogs, but other than that I cannot fault it was absolutely lovely and hope to return.

Great Accommodation in a lovely part of the UK. Not much in the village apart from the railway and small children might get bored.

Perfect for older children or couple who don't mind driving to attractions.

Wonderful friendly owner for whom nothing was too much trouble at all. Accommodation is first-rate, warm and airy - thanks to the high ceilings, patio doors and well-proportioned windows. The village itself is very small and the road has little traffic - day or night. Wonderful at night to hear the gentle hooting of the owl and in the day time to listen to the engines from the volunteer-run South Tynedale railway line that terminates in Slaggyford toot their way to and from the station. It is well worth the short stroll to the station to take the train to Alston for an easy journey to sight see round the (small) town and then lunch in the brilliant station cafe before the return journey.
The hot tub is splendid - lovely views over the hillside looking towards the railway line with glimpses of rabbits and sheep - not to mention the many ducks. It was a joy to have the swallows swooping over the Stable from first thing in the morning to late at night - and we even saw bats.
We look forwards to returning and exploring even more of the local area in the future.

We attended my nephew's wedding at his nearby farm and chose Broadmea for it's location. My family joined us and the three double rooms were lovely. It looks great on the website and we were very impressed. The Stable has been beautifully repurposed and furnished. The kitchen was excellent and very well equipped. The owner was very helpful and responsive to our few questions. The hot tub is a nice treat.
We entertained more of our family on the last night and they loved it too.
Well done Trish!

We stayed at The Stable over the Easter weekend and we all decided it was the best cottage we’ve stayed in! It was so well equipped and immaculately clean. The hot tub was a huge hit and the views from the garden were beautiful. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were perfect for Grandma and there was plenty of room for us in the bedrooms upstairs. Trish was very welcoming and helpful and we loved exploring the local area. We would highly recommend The Stable and we’ll hopefully return again.

This is a lovely place to stay for a family or a large group as you can hire both the Barn and the Stable. We stayed in the stable which was cleaned to such a high standard with everything you would need, I felt instantly at home. We cannot recommend enough to download the app for information to enhance your stay too. Trish and Paul are lovely and live nearby but give you the privacy you need but on hand via text and there if needed. We did the River Valley walk they recommended which was stunning but gutted the steam train wasn’t running that day. Slaggyford is very small but most places are within a short drive. We loved the Sycamore Gap walk too. Scenery was stunning.
Overall we would love to come back to this area and would most definitely only rebook Broadmea for our stay. A beautiful place to stay.

Beautiful holiday home booked for my 50th birthday weekend treat and it really was. The Stable was so cosy with underfloor heating and the gas log burner which our dog loved. We love walking and the cottage is surrounded by footpaths straight from the door. We enjoyed the hot tub which felt very private with lovely countryside views. Our hosts were very helpful and even let us stay past our check out time as no one was staying the next day which you never expect but a huge bonus to our short stay and gratefully received.

Paul and Patricia are a lovely pair of hosts, and were really accomodating to us. From giving us detailed instructions on how to use heating and the bbq, turning on the garden flood lights and providing new gas tanks for the bbq and much more. Could not ask for nicer people.

The cottage itself - ' The Stable' - was perfect.

Parking was no issue at all, can have multiple cars on site. Lake district is an hours drive away, so lots to do if you plan a day out.

For the cottage itself, everything was in working order with the kitchen being amazingly well-equipped, ranging from all types of cutlery, chopping boards, pots & pans, kitchen foil and cling film, hand towels, dishwasher, electric oven and so on. No need to bring your own cutlery unless you need something specialised like steak knives.

The bedrooms were very clean with drawers and lamps for each person and large cupboards. Plenty of plug sockets around. There is 1 kingsized room downstairs next to the wet shower room, 1 double room and 1 room with 2 single beds upstairs next to the large bathroom. Altogether accomodating the 6 of us very comfortably.

The open balcony style layout inside the house being able to overlook the living area and kitchen was quite a nice feature, making the house feel bigger and communicating with people all around the house - especially great for a group of friends. Sofas were really comfortable and the TV was very modern.

The hot tub outside was nice and warm with strong jets and open views. Outdoor dining seats hosts 6 people, and the grass garden is perfect for lying down in the sun or middle of the night for star-gazing (you will see hundreds, maybe thousands of stars on a decently clear night with all lights switched off :)

All in all, excellent cottage and lovely hosts, highly recommend.

The Stable was just beautiful, spacious, 3 perfectly sized bedrooms, living and dining area were very comfortable (especially the armchairs!), clean and well laid out, cool on those hot days we were expecting in July but expect warm in winter. Lots of storage space in bedrooms but also in cupboards in the living area.
Enough pots and pans, cutlery and plates etc for making a full dinner. Washer, Dryer and dishwasher in clean, good working order.

TV with all the apps so you can sign in from your own account and Bose Bluetooth speak that we could use in the garden or the house, good WIFI connection for general use.

Garden table, Jacuzzi and BBQ were all used and was a great entertainment factor with being out of the way of everything. only one local pub and that was being renovated so we had nowhere to go for an evening unless we drove 5+ miles, should be opening again soon. Lovely enclosed garden space also. We had our 2 cockerpoos with us and they were very much at home.

One disappointment and a few suggestions below, however none of these would stop me booking again!
We have had more than a dozen staycations in cottages over the past few years and each and everyone provided a Welcome Pack (milk, bread, bacon, sausage, eggs, and usually a home made cake) as this was a farm I was really looking forward to receiving that however there was only 6 sachets of milk in the fridge, so after arriving at 6pm (4 hour drive), we then had to go shopping that evening, not ideal.

Flies flies flies, huge problem, (not the owners) at least a dozen in the house at any time and although I had swatted them they still seemed to accumulate? couldn't have the doors open because of this and it was the hottest days of the century, not sure if the problem was heat related or because on a farm with sheep in field close by? Take some Fly spray or similar, not a deal breaker just and annoyance.

Overall the location and view was beautiful, the farmer allowed us to walk the river through his fields as well as the other walks around the area, every question or query I texted to the Owner Patricia was answered quickly and even had an amazon delivery as we forgot our games and quiz cards so had to order more. interesting chat to the farmer and his wife Patricia over the week.

We arrived just before the storm came and we were in a warm comfortable cottage. We enjoyed the location which offered good opportunities to see the local countryside. The hosts were always happy to deal with any questions and offered advice on local attractions. The underfloor heating was necessary during the extreme weather but later was turned down a very comfortable level. The cottage is clean modern and easy to live in. The hot tub is an added bonus and great even in the cold weather. Location is is good if you realise the nearest town is 5 miles away. Will stay again depending on weather and viruses.

It was with a heavy heart that we had to end our stay at Broadmea Stable. A very good place for recharging the batteries. The property is beautiful - I think if my husband and I could've bought it we would've done. Everything had been thought of and the finish was high-spec throughout. The ground floor facilities for anyone with accessibility issues are fantastic. Large bedroom and huge wetroom with no stairs and everything needed to feel more than comfortable. The rest of the house was immaculate and the gardens were wonderful and incredibly relaxing. Having the freedom to walk our dog in the fields across the road also made a big difference to our holiday - and the river on such a hot weekend was a real treat for him too. Hopefully we will be back with the rest of the family to take over both houses when the covid restrictions are fully relaxed. It was a wonderful, peaceful and fun experience. Loved it. Can't recommend highly enough.

We found the Broadmea Stable a perfect retreat for our family get together. The accommodation was perfect for our needs, Trisha
has made a wonderful conversion to this stable, the amenities were of high quality and the decoration was tasteful. The outdoor space which provided privacy was ideal especially as we had perfect weather and made full use of our alfresco dining (Barbecue).
There was also a Hot Tub which was immaculately clean ,although we did not use on this occasion. The area where Broadmea is located turned out to be a hidden gem,we will definitely not hesitate to revisit.

We stayed at The Stable from Friday 16th -19th October 2020.
The accommodation was spacious and welcoming. The living space was warm and comfortable and the bedrooms a perfect size. The kitchen had everything we needed and more including, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge freezer, microwave, coffee maker etc.
The outdoor space was well kept and offered a summer house, garden and hot tub. Everything was beautifully clean and tidy. Our hosts live nearby and were available for any additional needs and information.
The location gave us lots of opportunity for fresh air and long walks with our dog.
We’d love to visit again.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at The Stable, Broadmea. The cottage was in a great location to visit places in Northumberland and Cumbria. The accommodation had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. The outdoor area was extremely well kept with the added bonus of garden furniture, a hot tub and small summer house. We were welcomed by the owner when we arrived and felt very safe with Covid 19 rules clearly written down for visitors to the cottage. We would definitely recommend this place.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Stunning location. Lovely property. Owners really friendly but unobtrusive. No pubs nearby which meant more walking and fresh air! A paradise for wild swimming and walking...

We had a lovely long weekend in the Stable with a mixed family group. Cottage is well positioned and we enjoyed sitting outside & in the hot tub when the weather allowed, and inside when it didn't. The property is well equipped and comfortable with the friendly owners on hand for any queries. Its an imaginative conversion of an old barn and the downstairs is well decorated. The upstairs decoration could be a little 'softer' for bedrooms - the blinds could have come from an office and there's minimal adornment but I guess it's a question of personal taste. Overall we had a great time!

My husband and I, along with our two teens and dogs, had a wonderful stay in the Stable at Broadmea. The cottage is just lovely, very well laid out with everything we needed and the bed was honestly the comfiest I’ve ever slept in! Northumberland is just gorgeous, we visited some beautiful places and would definitely like to go back again. Thank you :)

I highly recommend this property. Lovely location with great walks for the dog along the river. Quality furnishings, beds and bedding. Well thought through conversion. Loved the hot tub and the wet room shower. Nice to have towels provided. The host is perfect. There when you need her to sort things that arise, but kept out of the way otherwise. The garden has been enclosed now so safe for the dog. Location good for exploring the Roman sites. Quiet, Relaxing. Enough room for six adults. Covid precautions well marshalled.

We had an amazing stay here, beautiful accomadation, we stayed in the stable and it exceeded our expectations. Trish was a fantastic host and made us feel very safe post covid.
This is a great area to explore the Pennines, Hadrian's Wall, Highforce Falls. The scenery in the area is breathtaking.
We had our little dog with us and he had the best time.
I would throughly recommend anyone thinking of booking Broadmea to do so you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for a great stay
