We had such a lovely week at The Ploughman’s Bothy. Very quiet and peaceful on the south west of the island and a great base for exploring by car. Jim was a great host and the cottage had everything we needed. Fabulous views from the front patio table for an evening sundowner drink. It was just what we needed to rest and recharge.

The four of us and the dog enjoyed a week stay in the bothy. It has everything you need to make your break comfortable.
The cottage is on the quieter side of the island but that said everywhere is 30 minutes away.
We walked to the hidden library and Eas Mor falls at Kildonan, Machrie standing stones, Coire fhionn Lochan, Kings cave, up to the giants graves and to Eas a' Chrannaig falls, around the Hamilton walk at Brodick castle and of course to the top of Goatfell.
We did not need to use the fire but the dog enjoyed the underfloor heating in the dining room. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook meals for the family every day and we even used the washer dryer as we did a lot of walking this week! I enjoyed the fact their was a bath I could use to soak off my muscles after climbing Goatfell.
My only recommendation would be the double bed may need a new mattress soon as we found it a bit uncomfortable.

Host Jim was very helpful in getting booking sorted and very welcoming.
This was my wife and me making a return visit to the island to see some of the area we missed last time around.
The “bothy” was well found, clean, comfortable and warm. Most of our evenings were spent by the wood burning stove watching some “fire TV”.
The weather was typically west coast for this time of year but didn’t stop any of the excursions we had planned.
Would definitely return to the Bothy again.

The cottage was in a lovely quiet location, overlooking the sea. It was perfect, we had everything we could possibly need, everywhere was so clean and the furniture was really comfy. Jim and Katie couldn’t have been more helpful. We met them on day one and they really helpful. Arran is a beautiful island with lots to explore. When our ferry was cancelled due to a storm, we were offered another nights stay which took away all of our worries. Thank you both for a lovely restful holiday

This lovely quiet location overlooking the coast is stunning. The patio and front room give a warm place to sit and dine while overlooking the sea beyond. On chilly evenings there is a small log burner which soon makes it very cosy. The kitchen and bathroom are well equipped & convenient. The bedrooms are compact and warm being in the eaves of the house. A second comfy chairs near in the front room would make a welcome addition!
