A super apartment for a couple or a single guest.Located on the third floor of a historic granary building which has a lift to the door. It provides comfort and style and amazing views over the harbour, often filled with swans. it may be suitable for the less mobile as there is lift access and level access throughout. The coastlines of Berwickshire and Northumberland can be visited by foot,car or public transport The main line station has great connections to all the major Scottish cities and Newcastle, York, London and Birmingham to the south. Holy Island is only a short drive away.

This was our third time staying in Mill Wharf. It is a roomy, well resourced and very comfortable apartment. It is also ideally located. A gentle 10 minute walk across the historic bridge takes you into the heart of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Bridge Street offers a variety of high quality, reasonably priced and friendly places to eat and drink. For exercise, the apartment is on the English Coastal Path. Beautiful scenery north and south, or wandering around Berwick's ancient walls. We would highly recommend this apartment, and a stay in Berwick.

We had a very comfortable stay in this apartment. It is so well equipped, with everything we could possibly need. We were a little bit daunted by the instructions for locating the keys but we found them without any problem. Loved the outlook from the living room onto the quayside and saw seals on a couple of days. The apartment is situated a short, pleasant walk across the bridge to the town.

Very well located apartment between Berwick town centre and the stunning beach of Spittal. You have a wonderful view of the harbour and harbour entrance of berwick and with a little luck you have a good insight into the wildlife there.
Nearby are also very good shopping facilities for everyday needs.
Also very central for hikes along the coast, e.g. to the Scottish border or to Holy Island Lindisfarne.
Various interesting excursion possibilities in the surrounding area.
Extremely nice and competent hosts.
All in all, an all-round successful holiday stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Mill Wharf. Owners kindly let us leave our luggage prior to check in time and phoned us to check all was ok. Welcome basket with sweet treats and eggs was lovely. And owners also provide tea and coffee. Flat is quiet and comfortable with great views and in good place for Berwick town and Spittal. Good shower but coundn't avoid getting water all over the floor from bottom of the screen. Comfy bed. Kitchen is good, has whats needed although the dish drainer could do with replacing. ( used dishwasher ) Only problem was that we found the locks to all the doors difficult to use. Eventually unlocked after much fiddling but sometimes thought we were locked out. Hope to stay again to enjoy those views.

Mill Wharf is ideally located for a Northumberland visit and Berwick-upon-Tweed in particular. It has everything you need and the bed was very comfortable. The owners were very responsive to queries and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The management company for the flats should change the main access lock as it was difficult to open and needed a knack. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be very happy to return.

The apartment was very clean, well equipped and attractively laid out. There are great views across the harbour with lots of bird life and seals. There is a supermarket close by and it’s a ten minute walk across the bridge into Berwick. There is plenty of information in the apartment.

We enjoyed our stay at 8 Mill Wharf. The highlight was the view, across the river to Berwick, and out to sea, from the windows. Interesting to see movements of shipping, the tides, and swans. The flat was comfortable, and well equipped,
The location is good, with shops for essential supplies nearby, and a bigger selection within walking distance in Berwick.
We liked the secure private parking, as we could leave car, and walk into Berwick, which is interesting to explore, and it is a good walk in the other direction to Spittal Beach, and along the promenade there.

The apartment was very well placed for us being only a short walk over the bridge to the town. Instructions to access the apartment were straightforward and comprehensive and the A to Z in the apartment had everything you needed to know. Kitchen was fully kitted out and there was plenty of room to lounge about if the weather wasn’t the best. Plenty of walks around the area and enough bars and restaurants close by to keep most people happy.
Bed was comfortable, shower hot and all the apartment was scrupulously clean. Easy to find with satnav and not difficult without. Great place to stay.

Quiet location just outside centre. Secure parking and when the Old Bridge re-opened gave good access to restaurants and pubs. Used the bus by ASDA to get to Train Station for Edinburgh trains. Apartment clean and good facilities. Overall excellent value.

We really enjoyed our 4 night break. The homemade rhubarb and ginger jam made by Christine the owner was amazing and the food hamper great. It would have been nice for a small bottle of milk to be in fridge on arrival for a cuppa, however good little grocery shop a few yards along from apartment.
We found the bed to be very comfortable.
Apartment and parking secure.
Amazing views from lounge windows. All very relaxing.
Lovely walk over bridge to Berwick On Tweed town centre with its locally owned shops and restaurants , also a handful of well as known high street shops.
We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment, but don’t get a fright like I did if the cleaners on the last day of your visit try the door vigorously and loudly more than an hour before nominated checkout time of 10.30am.

This was a return visit to Mill Wharf and to Berwick-upon-Tweed. The flat was again very comfortable, well kitted out and just perfect for a relaxing stay. It is easy walking distance into town - 10mins walk to Bridge Street with it's high quality (but reasonably priced) bars and restaurants. You can also wander off in the opposite direction for a walk on the beach or along the Spittal Promenade. The apartment's free and secure car parking is a welcome bonus. Shops and other facilities are all at hand. I'm sure we'll return again. Highly recommended.

Mill Wharf is situated in an ideal place to use as a base to explore the local area. From the Scottish Borders to North Northumberland there are lots of lovely places to visit. When you've been out exploring and walking all day its a pleasure to return to this warm comfy apartment. There is everything you could need for a good stay. After a night in the most comfortable bed you're rested to start all over again. Would definitely stay here again.

This is our second stay at Mill Wharf and we were delighted to return. The apartment is warm, very clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you need. The views across the harbour are delightful and there is always something interesting to watch. We saw a variety of birds and seals during our stay.
The welcome basket is a lovely touch, filled with local produce.

We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely apartment. The views over the working harbour were delightful - always something different to look at. The location was brilliant. We enjoyed walking to Bridge Street to enjoy the many places to eat. We walked the Berwick Walls, and other places. The supermarket was close to walk to as was Spittal (enjoyed lovely early morning runs to Spittal and back). Recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in Berwick.

This is a great apartment in a brilliant location. With a short walk into a the thriving and hugely interesting historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, and a short drive to beautiful seascape and countryside, there really wasn't more that we could want from our stay at the lovely Mill Wharf apartment.
The size and comfort of the apartment, secure parking, views from the 3rd floor window, coupled with great service and great communication justly deserve the top marks we give to the whole experience. We will return!

The purpose of our visit was a wedding in Duns, about 8 milesfrom Berwick . There are lots of places to visit locally, but a car is essential, as we had travelled to Berwick by train we missed out. Mill Wharf is a luxury apartment but we felt as we had no transport meeting up with other guests of the wedding ended up us repeatedly walking over the old bridge so for our stay the location was not best suited.

It was perfectly situated with a sea view and town view also and easy access to the town and all the local areas of interest and beauty. This year we had excellent weather and the apartment was not too hot during the heatwave.
Two big boats in the harbour provided lots of interest docking, unloading and loading.
The flat is well equipped and impeccably presented and it felt very welcoming on our return this year.

Property could not be better situated. Five minutes into town over old bridge, takes you to selection of good restaurants and decent pubs. Great views of harbour and sun rises. Secure off road parking, and well equipped apartment, including tea and ground coffee. Very clean, warm and comfortable. Great base for exploring wider area. Would definitely consider staying again if holidaying in the borders.

Interesting ever changing views. Never seen so many swans! Only thing we missed was a balcony or terrace to be able to sit on ,but we knew this when we booked.

It was marvelous to get away at last even with some Covid restrictions.
The owners were meticulous in their preparations for our our stay. It was disappointing that we weren't able to meet them.
We were gratefull for the lift to reach the 3rd floor flat and entry to the car parking bay was easy as the automatic gates were not working.
The view of the harbour from the windows (small but in keeping with the historic building) was constantly changing - processions of hundreds of swans in and out of the harbour. Unfortunately there were no cargo ships during our stay but the RNLI lifeboats appeared one evening doing training to remove a line wrapped round a mored boats propeller.
The welcome basket was appreciated although the contents didn't match the description on the website (no milk or beer - fortunately we had brought both anyway!)

We had a lovely break in this apartment. The apartment was lovely, clean and had everything we needed for a short break away. Very useful having maps of the local area, we used them for walking.
It is very convenient to walk over the bridge into town.
Christine was very helpful when I spoke to her when we booked the apartment. She also kindly rang me and left a message to let me know that the apartment was ready for us on our arrival day.

Wonderful views across to the main town. Lovely well-equipped apartment with thoughtful extras. Easy access instructions to property and parking (if needed). Good location near supermarket and smaller shop, as well as takeaways. Less than half an hour walk to train station with views across the river. Shame we came when a lot of places were shut due to Covid, but could still eat outside at a few. Nice touch with the face masks, hand sanitiser and spray. Useful leaflets about area in the hallway, and books to read in the bedroom. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper provided which was helpful. Lovely big comfy bed, and linen and towels smelt gorgeous! Our first break away after a year of cancellations, so we were very happy to finally be in Berwick!

Our second visit to this lovely, cosy apartment certainly didn't disappoint. Beautiful views across the estuary from the lounge, with wonderful sunrises (even in October). The property is comfortable and very well equipped, a real home from home for a much needed break. It is just a 10 minute walk to the centre of Berwick and the walk around the city walls with its fine views is well worth the effort. The off-road, undercover gated secure parking is also an excellent facility. The welcome basket of local produce was a nice and much appreciated gesture, 10 out of 10 to Border Holidays for their excellent customer care, we will be back.

This accommodation is cosy, secure and has everything you need and more. We appreciated the helpful phone calls prior to going from the owners and we loved the welcome basket which was full of local produce. The location is very good whether walking into the centre of town (10 mins), along the banks of the river or along the promenade to Spittal Beach. From the lounge window we watched the seals swimming in the harbour. We were very impressed by Border Holidays and would certainly use them again.

We booked a week in Berwick-upon-Tweed for the end of August having never been to the area. The accommodation was superb, and despite not being able to be met in person due to Covid, we were given clear instructions for collecting the keys. We wanted for nothing in the apartment and the views were amazing. It was a short, picturesque walk into Berwick. Supermarkets were a 5 minute walk away. The only downside was that the dockside opposite is now used as a truck stop which is not as pretty a sight as boats. However, it wasn’t an issue and we’ll definitely be back.

We enjoyed our short break at Mill Wharf and were impressed by the personal touches such as the local produce welcome basket. We particularly liked the fact we could book for just a few nights. The view from the living room window of the harbour was relaxing and found the apartment to be handy for the town even if you preferred to walk rather than drive. Had a fantastic 10 day holiday. John and Christine were excellent hosts through providing outstanding accommodation, welcome basket of goodies when you arrive, giving really useful advice on where to visit, sorting the Wi-fi password and providing more fresh towels during our longer stay.

The apartment is in a great location - Berwick-on-Tweed, Spittal beach, Bramaugh Castle, Seahouses, easy train to Edinburgh, Coldingham Bay (thanks for telling us about this John we spent the hot bank holiday there), Holy Island and great lobster from the local shellfish company, we loved it all. Can not state enough how lovely it was with the apartment being on the third floor to have the view over the harbour. Also there is an ASDA only a few minutes walk away and parking inside the apartment complex for your car. Can thoroughly recommend.

Because the apartment is 3 storeys up it has a wonderful view over the estuary to the old town of Berwick and of the tidal changes, including the regular arrivals and departures of the famous swans. For my needs it had all the comforts I could possibly want and it will definitely be my first choice if I visit Berwick again.

Stayed here while was working in the area. A fantastic location with excellent views over the harbour and lighthouse it really made it feel more like holiday than work.
The apartment has everything you could need for a stay away from home, for business or leisure.
We were welcomed by John and Christine who when talking with them you can tell that they take pride in their properties and really do want you to have a lovely time in their holiday homes.
The welcome basket is a wonderful treat, especially the homemade preserves made by Christine.
We had 2 cars and parking was no problem at all, there is 1 secured undercover parking space and free parking on the road outside the front door.
There is a ASDA within walking distance and a TESCO about 5mins drive away.
We did manage to have a few trips out while we were there, a wlak over the Union Bridge, a game of golf at Magdeline Fields but the best was the Rib ride at St Abbs, was great value, went along the coast, saw the puffins and other birds, the scenery was breathtaking. A visit to St Abbs lighthouse is a must too.
I would definately reccomend this holiday home and any of the other Border Holiday Homes.
I look forward to a return visit in the future.

Lovely clean well equipped comfortable apartment with a great view over the harbour. Bedroom was comfortable and warm with TV should you want to watch in bed. . Bathroom was clean with an excellent shower and radio at the touch of a remote control. Cooking facilities were perfect with every facility for making a snack or a three course meal. Salt pepper and some herbs and spices provided so no need to buy or bring your own, small dining area nicely laid out. Private parking was very handy. Lift was out of order when we were there but we were offered a move to one of the owners other properties if the stairs (3 flights) were too much. The owner met us at the property which gave it a nice personal touch.

My husband and I enjoyed 5 days at Mill Wharf recently, we found it to be ideal even though my husband has poor mobility and requires an electric wheelchair to travel any distance. The fact the flat has a lift was ideal and we just left his wheelchair in the car as it was secure parking within the property. We found everything we needed in the apartment and enjoyed the views from the lounge window. Would recommend to family & friends and hope to return at some point in the future.

Lovely flat, well furnished if a bit on the small side. The view from the window was mesmerising. Location was great as it meant you could walk into Berwick, along the river or along to Spittle. Would definitely come back if we are ever in area again.

This apartment was more than adequate for the two of us on a 5 day break. Fully equipped kitchen, and the welcome basket and fresh flowers were a nice touch. Everywhere was very clean. Beautiful view from the lounge window of the river mouth and dock area, including huge number of swans and a solitary seal, fascinating to watch. The shower in the bathroom was large and effective.
A good property for anyone with some mobility issues, all on the level, and a lift up to 3rd floor. Probably not suitable for anyone needing to use a wheelchair.
The wider area of Berwick has lots to offer visitors, we didn't manage to see half of it in the time available. We would like very much to return, and have no qualms about recommending Mill Wharf.

We had a wonderful time at Mill Wharf, from the friendly welcome to the comfort of the flat. The flat is beautifully furnished and is situated in a great spot with a view out over the water, and within a ten minute walk of the town. Highly recommended!

We had a most enjoyable and comfortable stay at Mill Wharf. The property was fitted out in a contemporary style within a converted Mill adjacent to a dock. Parking was provided on site.
We were met at the property by the owners who explained everything to us. The property was situated within an easy 10 minute walk into the centre of Berwick across the river. Plenty of places to eat in Berwick if you were not cooking in. Good views from the property were afforded across the river of Berwick, particularly nice first thing in the morning and at dusk. The changing tides also gave a changing panoramic view.
All in all, the property fully met our needs and expectations. We would return.

The apartment is in a historic classic mill with wonderful views of Berwick-on-Tweed. It is located within ten minute walk of the town opposite a small port. The apartment is compact but sufficient for two people. It is clean and well furnished. The kitchen has sufficient equipment to cook a meal from scratch. The bedroom is located in the rear which means you can open the window and have a quiet night sleep. The shower is good and the heating adequate even for the coldest day. Security is good with key coded doors. I can thoroughly recommend this apartment for a short or long stay with the caveat it is ideal for just a couple.

Our second stay in a Border Cottages home and it was every bit as good as the first. The apartment has stunning views over the estuary and harbour and is warm, comfortable and cosy and perfect for a couple. It lacks for nothing and the little touches such as the welcome hamper, hand made soap and festive decorations ensured that we felt valued and welcomed and I can’t recommend this lovely company enough. We have stayed at this wonderful apartment several times and will hopefully return for many more. Great location and of a very high standard. The welcome pack is a very nice touch and is made up of local produce. A 5 minute walk over the old bridge into Berwick or a short drive to the likes of Holy Island and Bamburgh.

The owners are lovely and very helpful from start to end with our booking.The apartment would be perfect for a weekend/short stay but we found for a week in the winter months when you have to take extra clothes/coats/boots and want to cook and eat in here there was not enough space for food and clothing and limited worktop space for food preparation . The bedroom has one double wardrobe behind the bedroom door with a bottom draw in it and a small dressing table with two small draws which are not very deep so ended up leaving things on the top as could not fit into the draws but it really needs a full set of draws to keep winter woolies in and other items instead of this dressing table. The kitchen is well equipped but we had no storage space at all for the food in the cupboards that we had taken with us as we love to go self catering so that after a lovely day sight seeing we can return to our accommodation, relax and look after ourselves but we really struggled with the lack of cupboard space to put food in and the fridge freezer is not full size either so we even struggled for storage in that too. But as we have said for a short break or even if you prefer to eat out each night it would not be a problem as it is a lovely apartment and the position could not be better for walking into Berwick. The views are great from the apartment. It is also a bonus that you have secure parking here and a lift .The apartment was lovely and warm and nice and quiet although we could hear the people walking about in the above apartment which I suppose is only to be expected in apartments.The bathroom was fabulous with a great shower and plenty of hot water and nice towels and toiletries and as mentioned by the owners in the bathroom the tap water does have a very strange oil smell and taste which the notice says is not harmful but we just used bottled water so was not a problem to us. The owners left a lovely little welcome basket too which is a nice touch. All in all a lovely place but struggled space wise for clothing and food storage for a week in the winter.

We are sorry that you felt the storage space was inadequate. No other guests have mentioned this. In Winter months you do have to bring thicker clothes and extra shoes but storage is not usually a problem as there are two walk in cupboards with hanging space too. Come again in Summer months and enjoy the lovely views from the window

Lovely view from the window, over the dock and river mouth. Good security in the complex for cars and guests, and a clean lift up to the floor we were staying on. A pleasant stay, and a good spot for touring the area, though Berwick itself is much improved. 3 day stay this time, but next time we need longer to explore properly.

We returned in August for our second stay in Border Holiday Homes comfortable unit in Mill Wharf in Tweedmouth overlooking the quay and Berwick.
This time we travelled by train, but the lack of a car presented no problems, there are supermarkets and excellent cafes nearby and numerous places to easily walk to in addition to good local transport services.
We would certainly recommend this apartment.

We had a wonderful week at this property. The property was absolutely as described and beautifully decorated. The view from the living room was stunning and we were spellbound by the swans.

The bed was comfortable and absolutely everything was provided. There wasn't a single thing we needed.

The location was great right opposite the bridges and a short walk across the bridge to the town. There was lots to do in Berwick and only 40 minutes by train to Edinburgh. We took a tour to St. Andrews one day. Paxton House only a short drive away is a must see, beautiful mansion and gorgeous grounds in a picture perfect village.

The apartment is beautiful, it's in a fantastic position and has great views. Very easy to walk to everywhere so we didn't use our car at all. Having stayed at the apartment previously, I wasn't at all surprised by it's excellent condition. The greeting from the hosts once again couldn't be faulted. Good weather allowed me to visit many locations but on my return each day you couldn't have a better view than the one from the apartment across the River Tweed to Berwick centre.

The apartment is in an ideal location for anyone wishing to go coastal (north and south) as well as westwards into the Scottish Borders and I would have no hesition in recommending No 8 Mill Wharf to anyone to visit the area.

We found this accommodation to be very comfortable, although a slightly larger bedroom and bed would have made it even more so. The welcome hamper was a seriously practical bonus for short-term visitors - it was so useful to know in advance what groceries would be available on arrival. The view of the harbour and Berwick was sensational. Our naive expectations of a bustling harbour weren't fulfilled, but the swans more than made up for that. The location was extremely convenient for visiting the town and for walks along the river or to the next beach, and is ideal for visiting Northumbria. We shall definitely return. Thank you!

We could not have been happier with our stay at Mill Wharf except to say it was too short. A week is needed to visit all the border sights as well as walk the town rather than the three days we had. The view across Tweed dock to the Berwick walls is outstanding. To be able to watch the flock of mute swans in the harbour and the tide rise and fall along the mouth of the Tweed was a highlight of our stay. The flat has all the facilities needed for a couple and a lovely welcoming basket of local produce was a surprise..

Spent a great 4 days in Berwick after completing the Northumberland Coast Path. Plenty to do for avid walkers and photographers and an ideal apartment as a base to chill. A few minutes walk to the town over the old bridge. And a few minutes walk to a large ASDA which was very handy. All in all a great apartment that I would recommend to others.

Our holiday in Northumberland was greatly enhanced by our stay at Mill Wharf and the helpful owners . It was extremely comfortable, warm and homely with views out over the estuary that just kept on giving . We found the location to be perfect for us to explore the county and the train journey to Edinburgh was seamless. Visitors interest in history should be sure to go on the guided tour from the Icentre in Berwick library, as it was very entertaining as well as informative. Beach lovers will enjoy the beach at Spittal and shouldn't miss the beach and rock pools at Cocklawburn, just south of Berwick. Further afield our early morning trip around the Farne island from Seahouses to see Puffins was amazing and The Holy Island was lovely too. There is so much to do in Northumberland and the borders. We have recommended this apartment to friends and family and would love to return despite the length of our journey to get there.

We understand that you had a problem with the washing machine and we would have been happy to come across immediately if you had phoned us. It would also have allowed us to arrange for a repair or a new machine for the next guests arrival. In fact a new washer dryer has now been provided.We are sorry that you did not find the flat comfortable, as our guests usually find the furniture etc of a high standard which is why it has been awarded Gold by Visit England. However the views over the harbour, Welcome Basket and secure parking seemed to have been positives for your holiday

The flat was beautiful, uber comfortable and ideally located.
The welcome basket was a lovely touch as well as the pre-cooked venison casseroles in the freezer.
Wi-Fi worked well.
I felt completely at home, relaxed and indulged.
I cannot fault this as a place to stay for visiting the area.
A brilliant base and very peaceful, safe and if you drive, brilliant gated parking within the Wharf complex.

The apartment is fantastic it has everything you need there is no need to bring anything except your clothes and food. Christine and John are very nice people they called in after we arrived to make sure we were settled and had everything we needed. The instructions for accessing the property provided by Christine were clear and easy to follow.

The apartment overlooks the estuary and docks with great views over Berwick. Access to the town takes a ten minute walk over the bridge. It is warm and comfortable for a couple with plenty of seating, excellent cooking and washing facilities, free WiFi and undercover parking.

It is a great base to explore the North East with Edinburgh and Newcastle just over an hours drive away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay it was like a home from home and would recommend the apartment to any one.

Well positioned homely fully equipped apartment with great views if your lucky you will also see seals swimming in the harbour. A good idea to take binoculars. We stayed 3 nights and self catered. We arrived by train the Owner Christine met us at the railway station and was very helpful at the end of the trip we walked back to the station about 15 minutes walk.
We walked the walls of Berwick and visited the Barracks. Also walked to the beach at Spittal. If you want a longer walk catch the bus to St Abbs and walk back to Berwick on the costal path about 15 miles, information available from tourist information. If you want a shorter walk do a circular walk around the St Abbs area it's beautiful. If you like real ale try out The Curfew micro pub 46A Bridge Street Berwick upon Tweed.

The best point about the flat was the location, with stunning views across the harbour to berwick. It's a very short walk into berwick from the flat and there are supermarkets close by, plus a wonderful fish shop within a factory, where I bought sensational dressed crab.
The flat is modern, clean and comfortable. It is also very cosy - even though heating was off, it always felt warm. Well equipped, not missing anything you might need. The only slight minus point for me was the bedding, which felt a bit 'tired'. The very lumpy pillows definitely need replacing! Generally though, I was really happy with everything. And the added bonus was the lovely welcome basket and toiletries. Thanks for a fantastic stay! I would definitely recommend and would use again myself if I am ever up that way again.

Very comfortable accommodation in a well equipped and smart apartment. Convenient for shops and places of interest nearby. We took the train to Edinburgh which was wonderful, although we did find parking at the station impossible on the morning but had allowed enough time for us to walk from the free car park in the town. The owners suggested a trip to Coldingham, which we did and walked across to St. Abs. Spent a lovely time watching the fishermen bringing in their catch and gutting them before taking them to the nearby restaurant.
The apartment lived up to our expectations from looking at the website so no nasty shocks!
We would certainly recommend this property to friends thinking of staying in Berwick.

Flat was satisfactory in every respect, we did think however that the bed/ bed linen would benefit from upgrading. Bedding type was difficult to keep on the bed and could have been a size bigger. Bathroom door is now sticking due to swelling from the excess water that escapes from the shower tray. We had to contact owners re: boiler leak but problem was addressed and caused us no problems.
Overall we very much enjoyed our first short break in Berwick.

Everything went super smoothly. The booking was confirmed quickly before directions and access instructions were sent by email. I didn't get to meet the host due to a Friday evening arrival when they had plans but they called to check if I had any questions regarding access. The apartment is perfect, all the space and kit you need for a short stay in complete comfort without any unnecessary complications. We took some of the hosts recommendations for evening entertainment before having a great nights sleep. Watching the sunrise over the water from the apartment windows on Saturday morning was a sight to behold before going for a run along the river. This was followed by coffee and scones from the café only a few minutes away, saving the fresh eggs in our welcome basket for the following day. Check out was just as simple as arrival and the system employed would allow you to retrace your steps if you left something behind. Berwick and Tweedmouth are a great find and this accommodation will be first on our list when we return.

We specifically wanted to visit Berwick - a place that we visit regularly - and chose to return to Mill Wharf following a previous very enjoyable stay. We thought it would be a perfect location for us at this time of the year (Jaunary) - and so it proved to be.

The location of the apartment is superb, overlooking the small dock, with views over the estuary and out to the historic walls of Berwick. It is a scene of constant interest and delight, allowing us to observe the daily movement of the tide, the play of light on the river together with the commercial aspect of the port. Its position enabled us to make the most of a short walk over the old bridge to Berwick, or down to Spittal and a short car journey to Holy Island. There is also easy access to local shops including a freshly caught fish outlet, Asda supermarket and Marks and Spencer Food within walking distance and Tesco and Morrisons only a short drive away.
We particularly enjoy walking round the walls of Berwick, on to the beach and absorbing the atmosphere of the town. The Maltings Art Centre and Restaurant is a favourite location to visit for morning coffee and cakes.

The apartment itself was quiet, perfectly appointed, warm and comfortable with a most generous and thoughtful welcome pack. The kitchen has a very good range of utensils and there is even a supply of herbs and spices. The bed was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hot power shower was most welcome after a trip out into the cold January weather.
There is garage space provided and a good security system to the whole apartment building.

We received a warm greeting on our arrival by John who was very helpful and welcoming which was a real bonus! We instantly felt at home and knew that we were going to have a really good stay, which we did.

My wife and I absolutely love this property, situated just a short walk over the old bridge from the centre of Berwick.
The apartment itself offers everything you could ever need for a break away and is furnished to a very high standard.
When you arrive to check in you are greeted by Christine and John who treat you like old friends, they show you where everything is and how it works and nothing is too much trouble for them. I advise that you ask them for recommendations for eating out or places to visit to suit your tastes as they have great local knowledge.
They also provide a basket of local produce which is a very nice touch, this visit it included Shortbread biscuits, Chocolates, Eggs, Jam, Honey, apple juice and porridge.
If you are looking for a high quality accommodation for couples that's in a great location with fantastic views then look no further.
This was our 3rd visit and it definitely will not be our last.

We spent Christmas in the apartment. We were met by the friendly owner on arrival. The apartment is modern and well furnish. The bathroom and kitchen are excellent. We cooked a full Christmas dinner (with a little help from M&S). The views from the apartment are magnificent and we watched two large ships docking in the harbour at night. The walk into Berwick is less than 10 mins and to the railway station 15 mins. Edinburgh is 40 mins by train or to Lindisfarne or Bamburgh 20 mins drive. A well stocked Spar shop is two minutes walk away.

The apartment is a lovely light modern space with homely decor and everything we needed to feel at home. We enjoyed pottering around the town and the picturesque neighbourhood and on a rainy day we curled up with a DVD and cooked a full meal using the excellent kitchen facilities (and plenty of high quality equipment -- a very nice surprise)

A really excellent place to stay. The apt was warm , clean and very welcoming on arrival with great views over the river towards the town. Secure off road parking is very good. The railway station is a easy walk away which allowed us a nice day trip on the train into Edinburgh.
Although a good 6 hour drive for us we will book again as both Berwick upon Tweed and Mill Wharf are well worth another visit.

We were delighted with the high standard of the facilities provided in the accommodation. The location of the apartment is excellent and is convenient for the centre of Berwick and local supermarkets. There is obviously an issue with the water in the bathroom which has an overpowering oily smell. There is a message about this in the bathroom stating that the issue has been reported and assurance has been received that the water was drinkable. However we did not feel happy drinking it and when the bottled water which was provided finished we purchased our own.

Really enjoyed our stay both at Mill Wharf, which was welcoming, simple and straightforward yet more than met expectations both for comfort, warmth and the view is to die for... Also enjoyed Berwick as a lovely place to stay, loads of history both in the town itself and within easy travelling distance for days out with historical sites from Roman/Celtic times, to the Medieval and up to Edwardian, from Lindisfarne and surrounding Abbeys, to castles and stately homes and Edinburgh less than an hour away by train. Thoroughly recommend it and after a week there is still plenty to do on a further visit sometime.

The elegant third floor apartment, overlooking the small Tweedmouth dock offers excellent views across the Tweed to the small market town of Berwick-on-Tweed, providing an excellent base for anyone exploring the borders area, or, as in my case, diving or birdwatching in the Farne Islands. There are local take-aways in short walking distance if you don't want to use the excellent kitchen facilities (recommend the pizza's just round the corner, jus' like mamma would make, if we were Italian!).

Wished we lived closer to have more regular visits. Plenty to do in Berwick, with lots of good walks. Edinburgh close by train and Lindisfarne very accessible.

My wife and I stayed in this quayside apartment during June 2014. All our communications and contact with the owners were first class. The accommodation is ideal for 2 people and is well equipped and furnished. There is lift access to the apartment. The location is very good providing easy walking access to both Berwick upon Tweed and the long sandy beach at Spittal. Good food shopping, again within walking distance. Covered secure parking a real bonus. Would highly recommend this property.

We loved Mill Wharf and would cheerfully book again. It is very comfortable, well equipped and maintained, with great views from the frontage. Access to Berwick is a 10 minute easy walk over the Tweed and there's a Spar 5 minutes away.

A couple of small adjustments would be helpful
The toilet is too close to the wall, resulting in the fixing loosening. A 45% bend in the soil pipe would aid fixing and access.
The floor of the shower is very slippery when wet; a mat is needed.

A well appointed apartment with superb views. This could be enhanced with a standard basin and tap in the bathroom and a bath mat in the shower. It should not be necessary to have to supply washing up liquid and toilet rolls, though.

We certainly do provide both washing-up liquid and toilet rolls and now tablets etc. for the brand new dishwasher to enhance the facilities available here. At Mrs. Blount's suggestion, we replaced the missing non-slip mat for the shower.

A clean, cosy little flat, with a lovely view of the sunrise over the sea. But noisy!

The flat is newly decorated with good quality furnishings and a lovely east-facing view over the docks to the town of Berwick... but noisy neighbours spoiled my holiday.

(It is not actually in Berwick but over the river in Tweedmouth, which seems a down-at-heel area. However I felt quite safe walking about by myself, and Berwick is a short pleasant walk across the river.)

The flat is less than 10 minutes walk to main bus stops, free car park with loo, tourist information, Co-op supermarket, shops, market etc...
There is an expensive Spar with postbox about a minute's walk from the flat, and it's next to a very pretty church whose steeple helps you find the way home after a walk. And a lift for your weary feet... and luggage.

What ruined my holiday was the amount of noise from the permanent residents in the flat above, which the owner warned me about when bringing me to the flat. I wish I had known before I booked as I wanted some peace for a creative retreat!
They seem to stomp about like elephants pretty much continuously from 7am to 9pm, and never seem to go out.
The living area is quite small and I got cabin fever when I stayed in a whole morning (when the noise was not so bad).
I ended up going out for local walks most of the time as the noise drove me nuts... not much creativity happened.

This would not be a problem if you want to be out every day and have the telly on until bedtime. There was no stomping about at night, nor any other noise.

The owners of the flat are very friendly and you may be collected from the station.
If you are introverted, be aware that plenty of personal details will be asked, and subtle hints to MYOB will be ignored!
If you are an extrovert, no problem. It's a free ride and chance to talk about yourself with someone new.

The tap water tasted like petrol fumes, but bottled water is only 25p for 2 litres from the nearby Co-op... two bottles lasted me the week. The owners have complained about this to the water authority, who assured them that the water was of drinkable quality.
Incidentally, Berwick does not have the same water problem. I don't know if it is just this block of flats, or Tweedmouth generally.

In summary, a clean warm well furnished flat with a lovely view of the sunrise over the sea to start your day. But go out before the noise drives you potty, and put the telly on when you are in.
And if you are introverted, politely decline the lift!

Recommend to others?
Yes - for a base to explore the area, and if you prefer TV/music on when you're in.
No - for creative retreats or wanting to be indoors a lot without TV/music on.

John and I are sorry that your visit to our 'Gold ' apartment was a disappointment for you. We wnt everyone to refreshed from their holiday; We were very surprised to read the comments made as these seems so different to those by you in the left in the flat. Many guests return again and again and have not found the flat noisy or 'small'. There is always the possibility of hearing neighbours in a block of flats, however well insulated and sound proofed as in this conversion. It is highly rated by Visit England and so has received the top accolade, 'Gold', for the past four years and this covers all aspects including facilities and cleanliness. The flat will shortly have the addition of a new dishwasher to enhance the holiday experience. We were disappointed that our efforts at giving a warm welcome and friendliness should have been interpreted as intrusive. We offer to meet all guests who arrive by train as a courtesy and make no charge for this service. Of course you could have taken a taxi if this service was not wanted. We wish you good health in the future.

Lovely apartment with fantastic views of the River Tweed and Berwick. Watched the sunrise form the window and saw seals, eider ducks and swans in the harbour below. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equiped and the 'welcome basket' was a lovely touch. Berwick is a good base for exploring the Northumberland coast and venturing north of the border to the wonderful Berwickshire Coast Path. I can recommend St Abbs Head, Dunbar (with it's resident seals in the harbour) and Cove, a delightful harbour/beach accessed by a tunnel through the cliff. Thank you for your welcome and providing a cosy apartment to return to each evening.

The view from this apartment was great and the reason we booked it. The bed was smaller than we are used to, but knew this when we booked. However a bigger duvet would have helped. The TV position although a modern choice to mount on the wall, for us would have been better in the corner to the right of the window. The design of the wash hand basin and tap, was awkward and difficult to gain any hot water.

What a fabulous dawn photograph! We've had some beautiful weather during February and March and the sunrise over the mouth of the Tweed is unrivalled anywhere in the World. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm really sorry that you had the problem with the duvet - Christine and I make a point of meeting all our guests and showing them round and saying - "if you have a problem, give us a ring." We would have been able, if you'd let us know, to bring over replacement duvet or duvets for you. Quite a lot of European guests request single duvets and these could have proved more comfortable for you. Regarding the TV position - this was something that we had already discovered about the re-designed bedroom - sorry you had the problem and we're fitting a new bracket to solve the problem. The wash basin is a different matter having been installed by the builder who converted the granary. The tap is intended (like so many modern taps) to avoid scalding so cold water comes in first, then hot, and sometimes guests worry that the water flow will increase and flood so don't turn the tap far enough round to get hot water. We don't like notices in our places but perhaps we'll have to put one here! We have never before had any guests who have said that they found this basin awkward to use.

A fantastic and relaxing short break after yet another frenetic Christmas!

Berwick is a lovely town to explore, and the surrounding areas; Coldstream and Lindisfarne in particular should not be missed, and on a windy day, Chain Bridge is an experience.

To be honest, I think my favourite time of each day was dusk, with a cup of tea, and watching the harbour fill up will roosting gulls!

We had a lovely time, and will certainly be back.

Modern, well equipped apartment with lots of nice finishing touches - loved the radio in the shower and the welcome basket. Superb location with private parking. Views from lounge fantastic. Lovely to meet John on our first day and he was genuinely concerned that we got the most out of our stay. Had some lovely walks (despite the weather) and Berwick is a great town to explore with lots of history.
Bedroom is a little small but still provides a lovely comfy bed with good quality bedding and ample storage space.
We would definitely come back and would recommend to friends and family.
Had an evening meal at the Queens Head on Sandgate and it was superb - would highly recommend going.

From the moment you arrive you are welcomed like old friends by Christine and John, the welcome basket of local produce is a lovely touch.
