Sunset Barn is a spacious green holiday cottage boasting sea views and great sun sets. Sunset Barn has two bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom of the holiday cottage has two large comfortable single beds with an en suite wet room, it is possible to add an extra bed in this room if required (please let us know at the time of booking). The upstairs bedroom of Sunset Barn contains a king-size bed and has an en suite bathroom with a bath and shower. Sunset Barn has an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining room containing a large comfortable sofa and easy chairs, a log burning stove, a family sized dining table and a fully equipped hand made wooden kitchen with built-in dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a flat screen TV, DVD player and stereo system.

All the bed linen and towels for the holiday cottage are fair trade and organic. The price also includes a basket of logs, gas and electricity. The cottage has underfloor heating downstairs, and a radiator in the upstairs bedroom. The cottage is heated using an air source heat pump. The hot water in the holiday cottage is heated using solar thermal energy and the crystal clear water in the holiday cottage is pumped from our own borehole. We have used as many natural products in the renovation and decoration of Sunset Barn as we could, natural wood, slate tiles, lime plasters, clay paints all add to the special feel of this eco holiday cottage.

We allow up to two dogs in the cottage as long as they are well-behaved, they have their own beds and bowls, they do not go upstairs, and they stay off the furniture. Likewise, we ask that you do not leave them on their own in the cottages. There are a number of fields around Llandruidion where they can run without leads. Please check with us which fields when you get here.

Please note that the upstairs bedroom in Sunset Cottage is reached by a steep alternate tread staircase, which may not be suitable for some people.

Amazing views, excellent hosts

Beautifully converted barn. The photographs can’t capture the glorious views from the kitchen / living room window. Warm. Luxurious. Everything you need. Hosts incredibly helpful and attentive. Very close to incredible coastline and beaches.

As always the stay at Stones Cottages was a welcome break from everyday life for us with its comfort, convenience and as an example of the sort of future that our society needs to achieve with its housing stock-namely air-source heating and solar panels and good insulation.
Thanks again for a good stay and until next time.

We had a lovely stay in Sunset Cottage. The views are beautiful from the cottage of the sunset and nearby hills as the name suggests. We were attracted to stay here because of the owners' commitment to environmental issues - eg the cottage uses solar power and only environmentally products are used. The cottage combines remoteness, in that it's down a longish track with being near plenty of amenities (e.g. a small supermarket within 10 minutes drive). As walkers we used the cottage as a base to walk various parts of the pembrokeshire coastal path, and when the weather didn't permit visited various atttractions nearby including St. Davids; however it's equally good as a base for visiting lots of lovely beaches and watersports.

Loved the view from the front room. We came last minute and decided to extend our stay because it was just what we needed. The place is very eco which is what we were looking for. They have a proper ethos, the welcome pack was gorgeous, and all the cleaning products and even soaps were eco. We much appreciated this.
The people were lovely, friendly and welcoming. We would like to return.
Thanks for a lovely stay.

We have been coming every year for some time now with our kids who are now 16 and 19. This is the first time in Sunset and we watched some spectacular sunsets from the cottage, had some good dinners , admired the sheep from the windows, lovely chats with Dan, Dot and Brian,. We went on some amazing walks from the house, met a well-maiden, ate some very good sourdough bread from Fishguard bakery, swam in the sea every day, encountered seals in the water, and also this time explored St David's coast more than usual, discovering some magical beaches. Wish it could have been two weeks.

We booked the three cottages for a family stay in August 23. This was our second visit, the first having been in 2019. We loved everything about our stay.

Firstly, the cottages are fantastic. We loved exploring the woods and fields, the kids thought the pond was amazing and enjoyed spotting wildlife in the wildflower fields. Sunset cottage was great for us and the two kids. The living room is spectacular. The views out to sea are brilliant to wake up to and seeing the sun set over the cliffs is a memory that will never leave us.

Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The EV charger is an added bonus, though there is plenty of charging nearby also including fast chargers in Goodwick.

The local beaches are amazing. From flat, sandy shores with shallow water to proper surf at Aber Mawr. The blue lagoon at Abereiddy was great for cliff jumping. We also enjoyed the Iron Age village at Castel Hennleys.

The Pembrokeshire coast is always amazing but a great holiday for us starts from having a good base, and Stones Cottages provided that for us. Already thinking of booking again for next summer…

We had a great fourteen day stay , enjoyed the beautiful views to the sea and the outcrops of Garn Fawr and the calm setting of the cottage, surrounded by meadows and a little wood. The owner is very friendly, helpful and provides you with all informations you need. We appreciated the carefully organic refurbished house and heating by solar power (which is a little bit loud when starting to work in the morning). The tap water from the farm`s own spring tastes very delicious. It is a great place to stay for nature friends as the coastal path with numerous little beautiful bays (good for bird and seal watching) is nearby. Even if the stones of the house are really old, the modern style and skillfully restauration making you feel comfortable and cosy.

We arrived at Sunset Cottage after six days of hiking and camping along the coastal trail.
We received a warm welcome despite being soaked to the skin as we arrived on foot amidst a rainstorm.
The cottage was warm and cosy, and we appreciated the spacious rooms and bathrooms for getting sorted out.
The main space is perfect for joint cooking/relaxing activities, with a backdrop that takes the mind on adventures even as the body stays comfortably parked by the crackling fireplace.
Would definitely come back.

We had the most wonderful family holiday in Sunset and Workshop Cottages. All our children, their partners and our grandchildren came, as did one of the other grandfathers. It is the most beautiful place, the cottages are comfortable with glorious views; the courtyard is delightful and the chickens wander about. The main living room in Sunset is truly sensational, with its two large windows looking out over the countryside (Garn Fawr from one and the distant cliffs and sea from the other). Dan and Shani are lovely: welcoming, friendly and so helpful.

Some of the mattresses are a bit tired, but the high armchairs suited our two Grandpas (both have mobility issues).

There is truly something for everyone in North Pembrokeshire: beaches, birdwatching, good cycling and walking and running (not just the coastal path), boat trips, good food shopping in Fishguard (including a sensational bakery called Nourish).

We will most certainly be back!

We had a wonderful week and were lucky with the weather. The cottage is simply furnished (which we liked) and lives up to its name in that we could enjoy watching spectacular sunsets from the window, which was also the best time to see bats out foraging. The location is peaceful, surrounded as it is by wild flower meadows and is perfectly placed for walks along the coastal path a short drive away. Dan and Shani were welcoming without being intrusive and we'd have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. Thank you.

I've lost count of how many times we've stayed here. This time it was a short break to plant trees with our lovely hosts in their forest garden, but we did find time for a short walk along the local beach too. Views, location, cottage, and hospitality were as good as ever, and we'll be back (if you'll have us!). Many thanks.

A perfect place to hunker down in (the underfloor heating is very relaxing, it's a spacious and tasteful barn conversion), as well as a great base for exploring the locality from. There's lovely walks from the house, and dramatic coastline to explore just a little further afield. The views from the main room are delightful if you wish to stay relaxed inside and simply admire the scenery. Dan was a very welcoming and helpful host, this place was just lovely.

This was our third stay at Stone Cottages and we loved being there. The Winter walks around the coastline and inland were lost in time with magnificant views of the wild seas with seals and birds. Occasionally we'd meet another walker or two but often we were alone with nature. You need good boots especially at this time of year with the mud and luck with the weather which we had once again. Sunset cottage is lovely and the stars at night are mind-blowing. Dan and Shani are so friendly and we always enjoy chats about gardens, nature and our society. Such a wonderful place to be.

We have stayed here.several times, but never in the Winter before. We hard glorious sunsets and full moons. One cold morning we even had the full moon as the sun was rising. We saw more Wildlife and the winter trees and their shapes were beautiful. Without their leaves, we could see much more of the landscape. Winter sea swimming was invigorating, fun and safe in Goodwick harbour. The cottage always provides a peaceful and wonderful indoor haven, with all you could want. The attention to detail is marvellous, with things like hand built kitchen cupboards and home made curtains that have lasted for years. The woodburner with its continuous supply of logs was lit every day from the moment we walked in. The surrounding fields and woods are great for morning dog walking. The whole place has been thoughtfully designed with great green credentials.
Please don't all book at once, as we want to come again next winter.

We’ve been coming for around 15 years, and will be back soon. Dark starry skies, fantastic views and walks from the cottage, ethical products and energy, fabulous hand-built homes, and the loveliest hosts we could ask for. I’m scratching my head to think of any improvements: I guess a mirror and hairdryer in the upstairs bedroom would be good.

We loved our stay at this eco-cottage with impressive eco-credentials - solar hot water that is really hot, electricity from solar panels, everything fitted out with natural materials. Two huge picture windows give views of the sheep fields and the sea (1 mile away) and we had a spectacular sunset every night! We had no need of the underfloor heating nor the wood-burning stove (free logs supplied). The family own several fields we were free to room in, and they grow their own veg and fruit and have planted 1000s of trees. We had breakfast outdoors to the sound of birdsong, and saw a bird of prey on one of the telegraph poles near the cottage.
Plenty to do nearby, from seal-watching at Pwll Deri to gannet-watching at Strumble Head 3 miles away. The Sealife Centre in Ocean Lab in Goodwick is fascinating too.
With a fully-equipped kitchen, there’s no need to go further afield, but Fishguard is a lively little town with its own Arts Centre, cafes and pubs, and the must-see Last Invasion Tapestry.
A truly restful retreat for nature-lovers. And good to know you are helping the environment too!

Lovely cottage , well equipped with good cooking facilities. Light and airy with large windows facing west/ north west to view the sunsets over the coastline. Comfortable and clean. Strong emphasis on care for the environment reflecting in all aspects of the cottage and surrounding grounds. Short walk to the beautiful coastline with miles of walking in either direction along the Pembrokeshire coastal path. Friendly and welcoming hosts.

We loved this cottage. Warm, comfortable, clean and with everything we needed. The views from the large sitting room windows was amazing - new born lambs, the sea, the hills and amazing sunsets. Great location for coastal and country walks too. Dan and Shani run everything so well and with a great eco philosophy. Hope to visit again.

Our family of 3 had a very relaxing stay at Sunset Cottage. We were delighted that the cottage lives up to its name and the living room is bathed in light at sunset with amazing views. We all enjoyed the wildlife at the farm including tadpoles in the lake and ravens and red kite overhead. The coastline nearby is wild and unspoilt. A beautiful place with kind people on hand to answer any questions. Highly recommended

A fantastic eco friendly place to spend a relaxing holiday in the beautiful countryside of North Pembrokeshire. The owners live in true harmony with nature, having converted the buildings sympathetically, using low carbon technology and sustainable materials, as well as managing the surrounding land to promote biodiversity and attract the local wildlife. The accomodation is really comfortable, cosy and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped to prepare meals, which was particularly helpful, whilst the pubs and restaurants were still closed due to Covid restrictions. There is a lovely wood burner to use for colder evenings. The surrounding scenery to the cottage will provide the entertainment, with majestic views of the local hills and Saint David peninsula, but there is also WIFI and a smart TV and to keep you busy on rainy days. The location offers an excellent base to explore the area, whether it is visiting the stunning local beaches, walking on the coastal path, taking a boat trip to Ramsey or Skomer islands to admire seals and puffins, or even searching the blue stones on a ramble in the Preseli Hills.
Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed!
Please embrace the environmental ethos of the place and be considerate with the cleaning products you use and the amount of waste you produce.

This location is outstanding for its scenic attractions which include two impressive volcanic rock outcrops with Iron Age Hill Fort connections and panoramic views across fields, farms and moorland to the sea. This is fantastic walking country and we particularly enjoyed treks round Dinas Head and visits to Strumble Head anjd to Carreg Samson, the 4500-year-old stone tomb. A great benefit of our stay was to gain an insight into the wholesome aspects of an eco-friendly life, from the comfortable warmth generated by the air-source heat pumps to the burgeoning woodland areas that have been created, the productive fruit and vegetable plotswith chickens, ducks and sheep on hand, and the forest garden currently being planned. It was a privilege to gain an enlightening glimpse of such a fulfilling way of life, and of the personal rewards from facing up to the real challenges of our times.

Is a little place tucked away in the Pembrokeshire N.P. This was my 4th visit to this cottage. To put your head on the pillow at nite , have the windows open and hear the silence , see the darkness and the stars ... that’s bliss

Will be back ! Thank you for all Your hard work to make this place possible

This is our second time at Stones Cottages and won’t be our last! We were in Harmony last time and Sunset was just as lovely. Very comfy beds, deep bath, great shower, snuggly sofa in front of the wood burner.... perfect cosy bolt hole for a week in Pembrokeshire. The cottage has everything you need, very well equipped kitchen and much appreciated wine and flapjacks! We were with our 7 month old son who mastered crawling on the heated floors this week! Great location for exploring or watching the rain with a book. Dan and Shani are fab hosts and made us feel very welcome, cot and high chair no problem!

A beautiful barn conversation with amazing views from the full height glazed windows on two sides. The underfloor heating was a real treat and we really appreciated the use of renewable energy. The rooms are a good size with vaulted ceilings in the living room. so there was a feeling of spaciousness throughout. The wood burner in the living room works a treat to give a warm glow or to provide extra heat when needed and having the logs included too. It is a great place to drink coffee and read a book. I was inspired to do a painting to capture the atmosphere on the landscape

There is an air of calm both in the cottage and in the surrounding area. It was great to be able to go off on a walk with the dog to explore the surrounding fields and the coastal path gave gobbsmacking views. I dont know how many times we said "wow".

A few pieces of furniture could do with an upgrade and everything else was great.

Our hosts were very friendly, helpful and generous.

We really enjoyed our winter week at Sunset. In summer-time we would have been downcast if the weather was as downcast as it was for us last week (in November) but we expected wind and rain so all was well.
As well as having a lovely setting and view of the sea what was particularly good about Sunset was the fact that it was well-insulated with double glazing all around and had pleasingly warm underfloor heating from the air-source heating system and electricity largely from the solar panels.
As well as providing immediate comfort after a day out it also was a signpost to how we are all going to have to live in the very near future if we are to respond creatively to the climate emergency. Back in the 1960s we were told that North Sea Gas would be the answer (the question was I guess back then "Is there an alternative to being dependent upon oil and coal for our energy needs?") now it is clear that gas is as carbon dioxide-producing as the oil and coal always was, and that we are going to have to get rid of our gas central heating boilers.
Sunset shows us our future challenge, we all will need to live in houses or flats that are 1) double (if not treble) glazed and draught-proofed and 2) we will have to have either air-source or ground-source heating, and this will have to be the new standard not only for newly-built houses but also that for the existing housing stock too. Some parties in the 2019 General Election are seeing this and offering grants for us to get our houses in order should they get elected as the governing party whilst others are not.
Oh! and we saw the fantastic sights of the region and ate some of the fantastic food on offer too!

Sunset Cottage was well equipped and comfortable where we could feel relaxed and cook anything we wished.
The large windows provided lovely views in different directions and the sunsets were beautiful.
The guidance on recycling was helpful and appropriate for an eco enterprise and we made efforts to follow instructions.

Shani and Dan were welcoming and helpful - it was a lovely place to stay.

We have stayed in Sunset Barn twice a year for the past 9 years. This should be a clear indication that we are very satisfied with the barn, the environment in which it is situated and the pleasant relationshp iwe have with the on-site family who run the letting business. The barns are situated on a smallholding that includes two large fields that are certified as wild flower meadows and in which our dogs can roam freely and safely whilst under supervision by ourselves. The barn is well named in that under the right weather conditons spectacular sunsets can be seen through the large windows. All in all a place we hope to visit for years to come

This was our third visit to Stones Cottages and the first time we’d stayed in Sunset. We love the simple style, comfort, and well thought out design. Stones is an ‘easy’ place to be - everything works well (wood burner, shower, kitchen, heating), the welcome is genuine, and the whole ambience is restful. We’ll definitely be back - this is a great retreat.

Having discovered Stones Cottagesabout 8 years ago, we have holidayed there anything betwee 1 and 3 times a year. The cottages are beautifully presented and the views around the cottages are stunning, whatever the weather. The added bonuses are:
The frienliness of the owners who live on the site
The use of 2 large wild flower meadows for walking the dog
and
access to footpaths around the surrounding countryside.

All in all ideal for our kind of holiday.

I'm selfishly tempted to answer "NO" to the question "Would you recommend this property to others?" so it doesn't get overbooked, but that would be grossly unfair to the owners

For us (60-somethings looking for a place to "chill out") this was perfect: great cottage with wonderful views and equipped with everything we needed. One comment: we could see no reference to internet access before we went but discovered the internet was excellent, serving our needs., We went to 'get away from it all' and Sunset Cottage did just that. Delighted it was as 'eco' as it could be.

The cottage was beautiful and also very comfortable and functional - we used the kitchen in anger. It was easy to get to the coast path which was gorgeous - it was May and covered in spring flowers. The eco-friendly aspect of the cottage was interesting and worked well. We all loved it.

A beautiful place to stay. We loved the eco-friendly approach to everything; renewable energy, water from a borehole, natural building materials including paints and soft furnishings. We loved the bedroom floor; made from the most beautiful white sycamore. It was a joy to look at and a delight to walk on. There's modern living if you want it; tv, hifi, and the all important wifi too! The family are very friendly and helpful and they'll do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. We enjoyed meeting them and would return just to have conversation with them again.

Brian couldn't have been kinder bringing wood to the house each day as the two of us who were staying were both there to recuperate. Given it was November the weather was kind and we took gentle walks each day on the coast walk. It is is Possible! Loved the two local beaches the Abersoch
Really well equipped kitchen. Amazing wood burner which is incredibly easy to light etc.
Really great cottage which has a visitors book full of people who return time after time

This was our second stay in Sunset Barn, and just as lovely as the first. Brian and Dot and family provide a very warm welcome, and take a genuine interest in their guests, and the cottage is extremely clean and very comfortable. It is great to see commitment to sustainable living alongside comfort and convenience. The property is light and airy, sympathetically converted using natural materials and blessed with a wonderful log burning stove, which makes for very cosy autumnal evenings.

Stunning views of the sunset over Strumble Head can be enjoyed from big windows in the living room, and the area is great for walking and exploring the glorious Pembrokeshire coast. We saw seals and their pups on the local beach, and wild ponies, dolphins and a wealth of bird life on other walks and cycle rides.

Highly recommended.

Lovely as always. Very healing and restorative. Thank you for the beautiful design of the place and for adding reading lights. The little details make it a joy to return.

A beautiful stay in a beautiful place.
We have two boys aged 8 and 5 and we have explored the pembrokshire coastline. Its been fantastic crabing, caving, going out on boats, watching wildlife, walking the coastline watching sunsets.
We have all loved it.
Thanks

We had a marvellously comfortable and warm stay, and managed to sample plenty of the local walks and attractions in between bouts of storms Gertrude and Henry. Even in poor weather, the vistas from the sitting room window are fascinating. I can recommend the selection of books too!

This is the perfect base for exploring Pembrokeshire's North coastline. Views of the sea from the cottage lure one out each morning. The cottage itself is warm (solar and wood-burning stove), clean and comfortable, and well stocked with eco-friendly products.

We stayed many times in many years in this beautiful holiday home. It is not only beautiful in its furniture and charming bedlinen. But it too offers a special comfort for us bookworms: t w o (2) reading lamps (where other holiday homes have not even got one. And -unbelievable four or five metros height for an unbelievable hearing experience for a hobby musician in complete happiness.
We had a wonderful warm room with lots of wood to heat it, and we had a beautiful view on the Garn Fawr in the evening (all the day, but especially romantic and mysterious in the evenings ("sunset barn") when the gods put their magic clouds on the top of our Garn Fawr.
We too had good advice and recommendment for our reading evenings by our hosts who were very interested and knowing of the newest literature.
It might have been raining a lot more and we would never have had a boring time.
Our hosts were friendly and gave us many ideas, where to go and what to visit and how to enjoy a stay at Pen Caer.
Thank you

What a fantastic place - we had a wonderful time, and as a young family we felt really looked after as Dot and Brian provided various child-proofing equipment so we didn't have to bring it all with us. Super facilities and our son loved the resident animals!

Altogether excellent accommodation but the steep alternator staircase to the first floor bedroom would not be suitable for anyone unsteady on their feet or for small children. We used that bedroom and always needed to take care on the stairs.
