The River Waveney marks the border between Norfolk and Suffolk and Mendham Mill sits astride the river, surrounded by hundreds of acres of beautiful water meadows. Four award-winning cottages which include the stunning Georgian Miller’s House have been created from houses, a granary, and other estate buildings. The owners are on hand assisting visitors who wish to fish or make use of the canoes or rowing boat in the sparkling private waters of the river. With places like Southwold, Aldeburgh and Norwich all within easy reach Mendham Mill is ideally located.
We had a fantastic stay at Mendham Mill. We stayed for the first time about 10 years ago as a family and came back this year. Incredible the work that James & Nick have put into the Mill, the variety of places to stay, the beautiful gardens and the activities on offer. We enjoyed the new games room and took the canoes out down the river. Some of us fished and caught our first pike and one of the children caught their very first fish. We felt very welcome, and James & Nick are always available to help with anything that is needed and included us in things that were happening at the Mill and ...more
We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing and very comfortable stay at North Meadow Cottage.
The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable - a real home from home. The easily accessible nature of the cottage and the well designed wet room, were ideal for an elderly member of the family. In her words, 'It couldn't be better.'
The added bonus, for us, was the EV charging close to the cottage.
The setting was so peaceful and beautiful, we'd have been happy just to sit in the grounds with a good book. However we did venture out, along some typically narrow country roads, as the co...more
We were looking for a short stay in Suffolk in a peaceful place close to the sea. All fairly standard, perhaps, but I also wanted to practice the piano for an upcoming exam. The Nest, thankfully, fitted all this, but it was a bonus to get all we did: a beautiful setting, warm comfortable accommodation where everything worked, access to a gym and games room, and hosts who treated us like good friends. The area is lovely and has good walks, good food and history. Incidentally, the piano was an amazing instrument which I am glad to have had the chance to play.
We stayed in Mill Race Cottage and had a lovely relaxing week. The cottage had everything we needed, was very comfortable and warm. The gardens and grounds were gorgeous and we enjoyed taking out a canoe and using the games room.
A beautiful property with an extensive private walled garden - perfect for dogs.
On arrival, I accessed the property via the side gate with our dog and was surprised by the size of the beautiful established garden.
The property has a very comfortable living area with ample seating and dining table. TV & books available but the main draw of this room is the views of the garden from all sides. The kitchen had everything we needed as we’d planned to do some cooking on the trip. The dishwasher was a welcome addition! Spacious modern shower room. Large main bedroom with an enormous bed &...more
