Good snow this year in the Chamonix valley but the avalanche risk necessitated closure of the slopes and lifts from Le Tour and Argentiere to Flegere and Brevent for the week. So transport essential to get to a very crowded Les Houches with limited packed parking and on to St Gervais, Megeve or Courmayeur.
Winter tyres essential to get to and from the chalet, especially as the snow plough only partially cleared the lane as far as the next chalet. The town centre is 20-30 minutes walk although parking possible although not easy, but again be prepared to walk to the numerous excellent restaurants, bars and shops.
The chalet itself is compact but well proportioned for either a family of 4-6 or 3 couples. The owners could smarten it up a bit and replace the chipped crockery as well as buy some wine glasses to replace the only two plastic ones and new tumblers.
A wooden cupboard on the outside exposed balcony, padlocked and inaccessible, is not ideal as a ski and boot locker.
Nevertheless, a good time had by all with any recommendation qualified by the above.

We had a great stay in Chalet Favarands.
Quiet location, walkable to everything, including the all important boulangerie and a good supermarket. Quick flat stroll into town. Access a bit scary the first time (it was dark) and you wouldn’t want a wide car! A hairdryer would be great. Otherwise there was everything we needed for a wonderful happy holiday. Thank you.

This Chalet was the perfect place to stay whilst on our ski holiday in Chamonix. The accommodation is homely, comfortable, and had everything we needed. With comfortable beds and an amazing downstairs bathroom which includes a sauna, it was beyond what was expected. The location of the chalet was ideal. Its a short walk to the city centre where there are lots of amazing restaurants to chose from and also a short walk to the main bus station which provides links to many of the ski locations. All in all, the Chalet des Favrands made our stay in Chamonix all that bit more enjoyable. I couldn't fault it and would highly recommend.
