Gitcombe Retreat was perfect in every way- the house was stunning and the facilities were absolutely everything you could want with a young family. We would love to come again. Thank you Peter and everyone else!
We’ve stayed here 5 times I think now, and we all absolutely love Gitcombe. A lovely clean indoor swimming pool, relaxing steam room, sauna and an open air jacuzzi with a wonderful view, especially at sunset. Friendly helpful owner(s). The living space in the accommodation (Maristow) is large and dramatic. A lovely efficient log burner. Wonderful view from the double window doors overlooking the property and way into the distance. Our stay at Gitcombe House quite simply could not have been more perfect. Our expectations were already high based on the photo gallery and reviews however they were hugely exceeded once we arrived. The standards of the grounds, accommodation, location and facilities were flawless. We are a mixed age family group where everyone without exception had the most magical time. We created some amazing memories in a wonderful place where the people were as warm and welcoming as the Devon sunshine. Beautiful site and property. Contained everything we needed. Very friendly couple running the site who made a special effort to let our 4 yr old feed their sheep. Pool and hot tub were wonderful. The downstairs of garden house was quite damp but they provided a dehumidifier which worked well.
This was a return trip trip to Gitcombe Estate for us. We first went 6 years ago to Gitcombe House for a family celebration, we returned this year to Burrator with a smaller group for a long weekend. All ages (7-76) loved our stay; the immaculate setting, views, facilities and personal touches make these properties stand out. We hope to return again!

What a find! Emma and the owners were so kind and accommodating to our last minute plans, and they made sure we had everything we needed for our twin toddlers. The site is beautiful with wild flowers and rolling hills. Our girls loved the pool, adventure playground and tennis court. Everything was in easy reach, making it relaxing for us parents too. I particularly loved the hot tub with those amazing views. Top class beaches and eateries close by and our girls got a taste for crab and fish n chips. My husband, daughter (3) and son (1) had an incredibly enjoyable week at Gitcombe and I have recommended to many friends with children since. Haytor was lovely, the accommodation was a good size, clean and well equipped. The facilities were amazing. Indoor and outdoor pool, soft play and lovely walks. Dartmouth is a short drive away and lots of great activities to do with kids. The boat to the castle and dittisham proved firm favourites with the children. Rock Fish is brilliantly accommodating for kids and the food is fabulous. We loved Hope Cove for rock pooling. A wonderful break,...more
