Culls cottage is a beautifully restored cottage dating from 1670's. A perfect combination of old world charm with all the modern conveniences of today. It has a contemporary, relaxing feel with a palette of white and neutrals. With an inglenook fire, underfloor heating and goose down duvets, it is snuggly in winter and in summer the large garden is a haven to enjoy. The property has off street parking. The Guardian newspaper chose it as one of the five coolest cottages in The Cotswolds.

Entire booking process was excellent, extremely smooth communications all the way to arrival.

Application provided about the property details was one of the most informative i have utilised to date. Anything you want to know, the information is there.

Arrival, entrance to the property is small (drive), so larger cars struggle, parked just around a he corner, 2 minute walk, so plenty of options.

Driveway and garden is beautiful, so tranquil. Plenty of seating areas and loads of space to just relax. Loved the space in general.

Cottage itself, well designed, new kitchen extension is excellent and provides everything one would need. Ground floor bedroom cosy and a great walk in shower. Living area provides enough space and the additional rooms and wash area/kitchen all one needs.

Bedrooms upstairs are well designed and the bathroom offers plenty of space and all one needs in a bath and rain shower. Some good products provided as well.

Beds extremely comfortable but the pillows were not (opinion and preference) - just empty pillows, no cushion to them at all. Would be good to have some options available.

Everything was excellent. My only comment is that there are way too many signs around the house specific to smoking. Where as I understand the owners concern, was just too many signs.

Would 100% return.

Dear Jonathan, I am so pleased you had an excellent stay at Culls Cottage and we would love to welcome you back. I am sorry you didn’t love your pillows, it is a personal thing as you mentioned but we would have been more than happy to have swapped them for you. We don’t offer a pillow menu on site, as a holiday cottage, but we always have spare pillows we could have given you to try. I know with my husband he likes a hard pillow and I like a soft. In regard to the no smoking signs. We do try to keep them small but have a few around the house because often only the booking person knows that the cottage is no smoking. We also operate a no smoking house and garden, this is because we are lucky enough to have hedgehogs that live in our garden. These are now endangered species and cigarette butts left in the garden can kill them. I should maybe explain this on our signs. We really appreciate you mentioning it. Take care and we look forward to seeing you again. Kindest regards Chris

Thank you so much for our pre-Christmas stay, we loved the cottage in every way. Really comfortable, stylish and in a perfect Cotswold village, it couldn’t have been more Christmasy with the decorations. The garden also looked amazing and we would love to come back in summer. Thank you for a terrific stay.

We had a short but lovely stay at Culls Cottage. Chris was extremely helpful with the booking process and provided very clear information about property. The new kitchen is great and we loved the spacious, attractive garden. The rooms were all very comfortable and full of character. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We all had a fabulous time at your cottage. Loved all the old character and the amazing garden. It was even warm enough to sit outside. The village is such a typical Cotswold village and easy to get to all the other places in The Cotswolds that we wanted to visit. We will return.

Culls cottage is perfectly located in the picturesque village of Southrop. We spent 9 nights there with our 2 young children and we really enjoyed spending time in the very well manicured gardens (my daughter loved seeing the bee hotel) as well as visiting some of the local attractions (Cotswold Farm Park was a huge highlight!)

The cottage itself retains all of its historical charms whilst benefitting from all mod cons (the family bathroom in particular is stunning). However, what really sets Culls Cottage apart from almost every other property I have rented is how well equipped it is. The owners have truly considered everything - from a coffee machine with a generous supply of pods to every kitchen/baking utensil you could need, via ample fresh towels and a great children's toybox - this place really is a home away from home.

Thank you so much for a lovely break, we hope to visit again soon!

Lovely well appointed cottage, you have thought of everything for a comfortable stay. The weather was mixed so we didn’t get to fully enjoy the gorgeous garden but managed to have one BBQ at least. Recommendations - Blenheim palace, Cotswold water park (inflatables on the lake we’re great fun) Cotswold range, shooting and archery fantastic. 5* Buscot park. Good food at The Victoria Inn, Eastleach, Daylesford and pizza Wednesday @Upton firehouse. Many many thanks.

We all had the best stay at Culls Cottage. The cottage is beautiful, and has all the amenities expected. The beds were comfortable and clean, and the living area was wonderful with the log burner keeping us all warm.
We had a wonderful time exploring the nearby area and especially enjoyed visiting Burford.
Communication with the Host was always quick, polite and very informative.
I would definitely recommend a visit.

A stay in one of the Eco Chic Cottages requires you to make a list - a list of things you don't need to bring with you for a normal self-catering weekend away. Coffee beans, coffee pods olive oil, sea salt, pepper corns, eco friendly food bags, wraps, milk, beautiful bath and shower products, luxurious bath robe, all the kitchen cleaning paraphernalia, extra sanitiser - tick, tick and tick, the list goes on. A lovely welcoming note and a bottle of champagne awaits you and gorgeous flowers all round the cottage.
On arrival we stowed our shopping in the fridge (put various stuff back in the box we didn't need - see above :) ) grabbed a couple of nice wine glasses from the great selection, corkscrew, immediately to hand and enjoyed our takeaway BBQ meal from Upton Smokery/Sam & Jak in the evening sunshine in a beautiful garden full of blossom and the alliums getting ready to burst into flower. The cottage has everything you need to suit your mood, really comfy beds for a lie in, cosy lounge and super bathroom for relaxing bath or shower.
As keen nordic walkers we really enjoyed exploring on foot straight from the doorstep and the nearby villages only a short drive away. The 'virtual village' reference is that I found the Cotswolds almost too perfect and so many lovely buildings, churches and beauty spots in the countryside, all seems to be laid on and almost so perfect it could be virtual.....
We dropped in on the local Poulton Hill Vineyard on our way home and walked round Minster Lovell ruins - stunning and arrived home feeling relaxed and happy after our first time away in don't remember when....
There was one 'digital' element however, which was a hit and a revelation for me, to be able to load an app with the complete guide to Culls Cottage and everything you could want to know about the local area direct on to your phone - so everything was immediately to hand. Amazing!

From the moment you step through the door of Culls Cottage you are greeted with an eco-chic ambience which offers you an idyllic setting for your stay. The cottage has an airy yet cosy feel with its thoughtful touches of fresh tulips in every room, herbs in the kitchen, champagne in the dining room, luxury shampoos & shower gels in the bathrooms & much, much more. You could not wish for a more luxurious stay with beautiful bed linen & towels, a kitchen with cook books & every utensil needed, fuel for the wood burner & a well-stocked library of books & maps for local walks & history as well as relaxing reading books & games.
This idyllic setting with its delightful garden is a special place to relax& rejuvenate away from the hustle & bustle of every day living.
Thank you to the Eco-Chic team for making our stay so memorable.

Great to be away from home at this (if we’re honest) Better than home-from-home.

Lovely traditional cottage on the outside. Inside modern ease and convenience. Great internet. Nicely set up kitchen which seems to have it all. Comfy sofas to crash out on.
Garden was perfect, nice to sit outside.

Bed was super comfortable. Snuggly duvet.
Shame we had to leave.
Top weekend. Thanks.

We have waited so long to be able to get away and Culls Cottage was just what we needed. A beautifully restored Cotswold stone home that had everything we wanted. We felt safe in the really super clean property and the rural location. The cottage had all that we needed and the weather was so kind to us that we even managed some meals outside. An unexpected plus for April. The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring The Cotswolds and we managed some nice walks straight from the house. We can’t wait to come back. We were very impressed with Culls Cottage. Very well equipped all through especially the kitchen. Lovely free standing bath and a large walk in shower. Wood burning fire and stylish decor. The large garden was beautiful, well stocked with a large variety of plants and trees also a herb garden. The village of Southrop is very pretty and we found lovely walks from the cottage. The phone app and the folders in the cottage were full of useful information. A stay at Culls is highly recommended. We will be back again!!

We booked Culls Cottage for a short break just before Christmas. The cottage is beautiful; it was perfect base for a quiet few days and for exploring the area. It was also wonderful for snuggling in front of the fire watching Christmas films! We explored the local area including Eastleach, Lechlade and Burford.
The cottage, whilst retaining the character of a very old cottage, has everything you need and has a lovely modern feel. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and we felt everything we needed was provided, including hairdryer, robes in the master bedroom, toiletries and towels.
The booking process was easy and we had excellent communication with the owner. We will definitely be back!

A terrific place to talk, cook, laugh, relax and just spend quality time together. The cottage is so cosy and well equipped. The kitchen wants for nothing, the lounge has a terrific wood burner and cosy throws. The underfloor heating was a lovely surprise for a winters morning and the beds were really comfortable. Didn’t use the garden but the sky at night was full of stars and we even spotted a barn owl on our drive out of the village. Culls is a special place. We will return.

The cottage is a beautifully decorated and lovely house. We really enjoyed our stay - every thing was thought of from the flowers to kitchen utensils - beautiful soaps and fluffy towels. Luxury.

Chris was superb and very helpful. Our only issue was the cottage was directly on the roadside and so not as 100% peaceful as we’d have liked - BUT Chris told us this before and was very open. It’s a village road and so light traffic only but for a longer stay we would have preferred total tranquility - but this is a minor point and can’t fault the exceptional cottage any other way.

Thank you so much for your review and I am so pleased you had a great stay. Hopefully you saw a few horses clip clop by on the road outside the cottage. It is the structure of Cotswold villages that there is usually only one road that runs through them and the houses are dotted along the roadside. I do hope we can welcome you back again another time or to Culls sister cottage - The Chestnuts which is in the nearby village of Shilton. All the very best Chris

Our second visit to this wondrous retreat.

When we need calm but all the amenities of home this ticks all the boxes. Surrounded by quiet but with choices galore of places to eat or get take outs. A top dinner at The Swan. Kushi Indian in Lechlade and the Linwood cafe in Fairford is uber good latte-land.

I’m sure to be back.

Culls cottage is the most perfect cottage in the Cotswolds.
A beautiful home from home nestled in the fantastic village of Southrop.
Everything here has been catered for.
A fabulous garden, was well used and the cottage was in a great position to discover many other beautiful towns and village.
My family and I enjoyed the whole stay thoroughly.
A little gem

This is our second stay at Culls Cottage. It is a beautiful cottage, with a fabulous large garden, situated in a gorgeous Cotswolds village with a terrific local pub - what more could you want? We'll be back again!

Absolutely beautiful cottage with excellent fittings and loads of crockery and cutlery
We visited with a disabled friend who has bilateral below knee amputations, she can walk with an aid and prostheses
Unfortunately the downstairs bed was low and difficult to get out of and the wet room had limited space - this is not a complaint, the cottage is not advertised as disabled friendly
However, two cars were scratched in the driveway - VERY TIGHT! User error but perhaps this should be advertised

Cheryl from Preston stayed at Culls Cottage for 4 nights in August 2019

Chris Burton replied more than 1 year ago
Dear Cheryl, Thank you so much for taking the time to complete the online review. I am really pleased you had a great time and enjoyed the cottage. I do wish we had known about your friend, like you say we are not advertised for disabled guests but we like to do what we can and we could have offered some blocks to help raise the bed and also we have a toilet seat that helps increase the height of that too. Sadly though we wouldn’t have been able to do anything about the width of the downstairs shower. As you were probably aware Culls Cottage is a grade 11 listed heritage building from 1670 and the shower is in what was an old stairwell (that was removed many many years before we purchased it) so its width is limited. It is also why we made it into a wet room, to get every last inch out of the space but we know it’s not the roomiest shower. We do alway encourage guest to take a look at our online walk round tours on our website which shows every aspect of the cottage. We do also mention the restricted driveway - sorry if you missed that when booking, I hate to think of you getting a scratch, let alone two, we want you to only take home marvellous memories of a stay with us. When we purchased the cottage in 2009 it didn't have any off street parking at all but we applied for planning permission and got as wide a driveway as we could between the house and the boundary wall. I hope you parked your car on the roadside after the incidents as there is lots of parking outside of the cottage. I do hope you can visit us again or maybe try The Chestnuts (Culls sister cottage in a nearby village), as that cottage isn’t as old as Culls (1800’s) and so has less building restrictions and larger rooms including a very large downstairs shower. Thank you again for your review, we all really appreciate it and we hope to see you again soon. With very kindest regards Chris

Culls cottage was amazing, clearly very old but with such modern amenities it suited us perfectly. The garden was a real surprise, very well kept and with the great weather we were able to enjoy it everyday. Thank you Chris and the team. We really hope to come back.

We had a wonderful stay at Culls Cottage - it's a beautiful, very well maintained property, the garden is stunning and it was a great base for exploring the Cotswolds more widely.
We stayed there as a family for a fortnight and whilst we'd happily return in the future, I'd recommend it more for shorter weekend stays or up to a week max. It's so well equipped and quirky inside that almost all the internal storage and wardrobe space has been taken up with cushions, games, kitchen utensils etc - whilst this is perfect for a short trip, unfortunately it becomes a little inconvenient for longer stays like ours when you arrive more laden down. A minor challenge for an otherwise fabulous property that was a delight to experience.

Caroline from Wan Chai stayed at Culls Cottage for 14 nights in June 2019

Dear Caroline, thank you so much for your lovely comments. I do know what you mean about lack of free space for your own belongings on a long stay and storage space in a listed historic building it’s always really tricky - however we have for the last couple of years been working with the planning authorities to gain permission for a large extension, giving us a fabulous new kitchen ( with lots of storage) dining area and some more seating. It’s going to be an exciting addition and should be completed by the end of 2019. I hope one day you can visit us again and experience it.

We (a family of three) spent a very enjoyable and relaxing week at Cull’s Cottage. The cottage is stylish, well equipped, comfortable and full of the character you would expect from such a property with contemporary furnishings complementing the warm and homely interior. Some of the internal doorways are low (as you might expect) and despite the warning notices I still managed to bang my head, something I only did once. The downstairs bedroom and wet-room suited our needs and were important factors in our decision to stay at Cull’s Cottage.

The garden at the cottage is amazing. We ate breakfast at the table and chairs beside the beautiful willow tree and enjoyed a lunch at the table and benches with visiting family. The garden is expertly landscaped with numerous predominantly white roses and a lavender horseshoe around the willow and the wild meadow grass under it’s shelter.

As stated, the drive entrance to the house is quite narrow, however we managed to manoeuvre our 4x4 in and out for the first couple of days before deciding that the roadside parking was easier.

We would have liked a longer stay at Cull’s Cottage but time unfortunately did not permit.

We were fortunate to have perfect weather over the weekend we stayed at Culls Cottage. The village was quiet and peaceful. The Cottage has a large garden that is well looked after. Country birds everywhere. Indoors a very practical layout with a good mix of modern with the old fixtures. It will be a very nice cottage to visit during winter and enjoy the low ceilings and the fire place. We were able to spend most of our time outdoors enjoying the views and nature in general. The walk to the next village had a well mapped route and easy to navigate. The area in general is really beautiful and very relaxing.

Wonderful weekend stay at Culls Cottage which was cozy and very comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen and lovely garden. The welcome champagne, fresh flowers and books detailing local walking maps and notable landmarks were an added bonus.

Wow what a beautiful cottage and so perfectly decorated and equipped. Had everything we could possibly need. The garden is amazing - such a large and clearly well tended space.

There is so much to do in the area and we loved all the information left at the cottage.

The village pub The Swan is convenient, just a short walk through the picture postcard village. We will definitely return to this gorgeous Cottage and The Cotswolds.

The cottage is very stylish and renovated in a sympathetic way. The equipment and facilities provided are excellent. The garden is a dream with a small meadow, roses, a weeping willow etc.

The sofas are a little uncomfortable with two having no back to them. The bathroom has a stylish bath but a little impractical with no overhead shower and the wet room is rather small. However, in all other ways this is one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Guest from stayed at Culls Cottage for 7 nights in June 2018

Chris replied more than 1 year ago
I am so pleased you had a lovely time and enjoyed the garden. June is a very special time for the meadow, when the oxeye daisies are at their very best. It’s a small way we can help get even more wildlife into the garden. I am sorry you found the sofas a little uncomfortable without backs and indeed we do have one chaise which only has a half back and another long sofa bench with cushioned backs. Traditional sofas with back and sides would unfortunately dominate the space and so this is why we chose these and popped lots of movable cushions to help prop you up, but I do understand your comment. In regard to the bathrooms, as you know there is an overhead shower downstairs but with regards to the upstairs bath tap - we could not have an overhead one there without risking water going over the floor and we didn’t want to have only a shower, as a bath is more indulgent for some on holiday. The shower space downstairs is limited in size but we are a grade 11 listed historic building from 1670 and so unfortunately are not allowed to move walls and have had to use the spaces we have which can sometimes be a challenge with modern day living expectations. Culls sister cottage - The Chestnuts is a much younger cottage from the 1800s and so does have larger spaces and three bathrooms. I do hope we can welcome you back to one of our cottages in the near future. Take care Chris

Virginia from London stayed at Culls Cottage for 3 nights in June 2018

Chris replied more than 1 year ago
Dear Virginia, thank you for your review and I am sorry you had the odd bump into doorways. We do explain to guests before booking the quirks of a heritage cottage. I attach below the wording on our website, plus we have invested in a ‘StepIn’ photographic tour so that guests can walk round the whole house, making sure it’s right for them before booking. I do hope we can welcome you back another time and perhaps to Culls sister cottage The Chestnuts, as it is a younger cottage with generally higher ceilings and doorways throughout. With kindest regards Chris Culls cottage is a traditional stone built cottage the original part of which was built in the 1670's. As a consequence it has all the features that are typical of a cottage, with low, beamed and slopping ceilings (upstairs) as well as some low doorways and some changes of level within the house. We have tried to make this website as informative as possible with views of all the rooms and a layout plan. We welcome all visitors but we know that this cottage may not be accessible for everyone, such as those in a wheel chair. The cottage sits on the roadside in the heart of the rural village of Southrop and secure off street parking is available at the back of the cottage for up to four cars. Additional parking is available on the road outside the cottage. Entry to the off-street parking is limited in width and so larger cars may find it easier to park on the roadside.

Thank you so much for an amazing stay, the cottage is fantastic with so much character and so stylishly presented. It’s the home we would love to have. We stayed during the village open gardens weekend, which was special treat. We didn’t expect Culls garden to be so large and well tended - loved the fresh herbs and the weather was so great we even got to relax on the loungers. Had a great meal at The Swan, so lovely not to have to drive. Southrop village is so pretty. We will definitely get back as soon as we can. Your our new favourite place to stay.

A marvelous stay in the wonderful Culls Cottage. The showery weather didn't deter us and Culls' drenching shower room is the best shower I've enjoyed in a holiday cottage. My wife preffered the 'luxe bath where she read this month's Vogue. Like the shower the cottage is supremely spec'd. The kitchen seems to have enough crockery and glassware for double the number of guests and a dishwasher to wash it all up too. Thank you for the advice on where to eat. We loved both Kelmscott Plough and the village Swan. A glass of Champagne on the garden terrace in evening sunshine set us up for dinner and gave us a chance to admire the garden's fabulous planting...orange and black tulips high visual impact. We will be copying that look next year.

Culls Cottage: so much to say about it. We want to come back. We loved the kitchen - proper sharp knives, a coffee maker, and wine glasses galore. Excellent beds, so comfortable and cosy. Underfloor heating is uber luxe, I'm sold on it but the fire is nice too even if we didn't really need to light it...nice atmosphere. Southrop is a great village, quiet but with the essential Swan pub for drinks and a top meal. The suggested walk to the Victoria in Eastleach was easy, but a good excuse for exercise and the lunch menu there is worth going back for more. Birds in the garden, the "supermoon" and stars at night- you've really laid it all on. Thanks....and yes, we will be back.

For a very very old property it has a really cool, contemporary feel. The spaces are light and bright and the property is equipped to such a high standard, we wanted for nothing. We were impressed by so much in the cottage, but the super comfy beds and underfloor heating made the cottage such a great place. The owners have clearly paid a lot of attention to detail here and we can't wait to come back to enjoy the huge garden in the summer. Supper at the local Swan pub just a short walk from the cottage was superb. A great find and our new holiday favourite: Culls is Cool

We have stayed at Culls cottage many times and It's always a pleasure. The garden is beautiful and the cottage very comfortable. We love the eco friendly focus and the considered way the cottage is furnished and presented. For those who want to stay connected we found the broadband an added bonus, with impressive speeds given the rural setting. There is a fantastic pub within walking distance (the Swan) with a great menu, quality ingredients and cooking to match. Culls also has a lovely wood fire to accentuate the cosy cottage feel when the evening draws in. Great place.

We stayed just three nights at Culls Cottage. It's a beautiful cottage with a stunning garden. Sadly the weather was cold and inclement so we were not able to enjoy the garden, but it's idyllic, with lovely garden furniture in a few different places to help enjoy the best bits of it. It's been well designed and planted beautifully.

The cottage is also lovely, although I personally found the furniture/furnishings too modern for the era of cottage. For a cottage that purports to be eco I would have thought that old/antique furniture would have fitted the brief and the character of the cottage better. Nice thick traditional curtains, squishy sofas, indulgent beds, feather pillows and muted colours would look amazing in Culls Cottage, but that's my personal opinion.

The toiletries and champagne was a nice touch, as were the flowers in many vases dotted around. To meet the eco credentials though I would have also liked to have seen no light/air coming in (=heat escaping) around the back door (add draught proofing etc) and despite the cottage being listed there could be secondary glazing on many/all of the windows (I know as we have it in our listed cottage). An air source heat pump would also work well with the under floor heating, and give the owners the RHI income.

The bathrooms were very nice as was the kitchen. Sadly we were working so we spent very little time in the cottage itself. However, we did spend a lot of time exploring the area which is stunning. Dinner at The Swan in Southrop was excellent and I can also recommend the Five Alls at Filkins.

Thank you for your review Sarah, it is always good to hear from guests. I am sorry the weather wasn't more accommodating for you to be able to get out in the garden much. I hope that the weather didn't spoil your Classic Car event. I do take on board your comments about the furnishings - however we do market Culls Cottage as a contemporary designed space rather than the traditional Cotswold style. I feel that there is a great choice of traditionally styled properties in the Cotswolds so I chose to offer an alternative which is more in keeping with my own style and taste. The website's many photographs show our interior design style. Our furniture is all sourced from sustainable sources and we use natural fabrics wherever possible in keeping with our eco-accreditation and values. While feather pillows are enjoyed by many they do raise issues of allergy reactions and so we have chosen to offer guests hypo-allergenic pillows. Regarding our Eco Accreditation, we are audited each year by Green Tourism and have held a Gold award since we opened. Eco-friendliness is a never ending job and often things are a trade-off between practicality for our guests and the counsel of perfection. I agree a heat source pump would be lovely but sadly funds don't run to that at the moment but we do buy 100% green electricity and have countless other energy and water efficiency savings. Re the heat loss through the windows and doors. We want the cottage to be as light-filled as possible hence we chose white curtains. But the curtains are all thermally lined to minimise heat loss. Cutting drafts out from the cottage could be desirable but we do need the cottage to breath, which is why we have chosen to not hermetically seal it. Our lime plasterwork survives better when we do have some air circulation. Great that you managed to try The Swan and The Five Alls, they are both excellent food pubs. I do hope we can welcome you again, hopefully in the summer months so that you can get the full benefit of the garden and thank you for all your comments. With very kindest regards Chris

Lovely and luxurious cottage, with beautiful garden, in stunning location. The owners should be proud. Lots for adults and kids to do nearby. Made for a special holiday.

We've had a wonderful short break and just sad it couldn't be longer. Beds were comfortable, kitchen really well equipped, bathrooms spotless and the garden is glorious. The communal space is quite small for 5/6 people but the good sized garden is wonderful. Village is beautiful as is the surrounding countryside. Choose a sunny day to walk across the fields to Eastleach for lunch at the Victoria Inn. Chris is so helpful. We do hope to return... for longer next time!

The Culls cottage team were very accommodating and helpful.

The cottage is beautiful and comfortable and very well stocked with all the essentials - we would love to return when we're not working to fully appreciate it!

We had a wonderful break at Culls Cottage which was warm and welcoming on our arrival. When we lit the wood burner in the evening this added to the cosy ambience. Everything we could ever need was already provided, so much attention given to detail, fresh flowers everywhere - even in the superb bathroom and the shower room. To open the curtains in the morning and see the lovely extensive garden is a delight - we even caught a glimpse of the first snowdrops pushing through. The Swan is recommended for dining out but we equally enjoyed cooking our own meals in the well equipped kitchen. Southrop is a lovely village and also within reasonable driving distance we were able to enjoy time in Oxford with lovely shops and the Ashmolean Museum, Lechlade on Thames, Witney and the Cotswold Wollen Weavers at nearby Filkins. We know there is so much more to see and do and so a return visit is a must. I highly recommend this first class holiday accommodation.

We loved Culls Cottage as a getaway weekend break. Not that a weekend was enough to take in the area and the pubs/restaurants, the easy walks and the lovely villages. Try the stroll to The Swan, five minutes' walk rewarded with great food, wine and beer. Thames footpath at Lechlade was a super walk on crisp sunny day. Burford town has amazing high street of beautiful old buildings and a classic, proper, butcher...Castles.
Cottage had all we needed to cook our dinner. Hooray for proper sharp knives in a self-catering cottage. We will come back likely in warmer months to lounge in inviting garden.

Located in a picturesque village, this cottage provided an ideal base for our family's pre-Christmas escape. It is a soothing place, comfortably furnished and fully equipped yet retaining its character. The location was ideal for us, permitting easy day trips to Bath, Oxford, and Stratford in various directions. We also had brief, very nice experiences with nearby Thames Path segments and farm markets, which could fill a stay in their own right. And the lovely garden behind the cottage made us wish to return in a warm season as well.

We booked both Culls Cottage and nearby Chestnut Cottage for the weekend of our wedding at Stone Barn. Both cottages were perfect for the occasion - each near a village pub so we could have dinners with our respective families and friends the night before with plenty of parking.

Culls Cottage is both cosy and light and very equipped with everything you might need for any eventuality! The owners had kindly put out some dried lavender from the garden to burn in the woodburner and more than enough logs were supplied to keep the fire burning all evening. The owners were also incredibly accommodating with the additional bedding and have been incredibly helpful in the retrieval of a bluetooth speaker which was accidentally left behind.

The cottage is expensive but the amenities, beautiful location and quality of service all justify the cost. Thanks very much for having us - we will definitely be looking to stay again!
