Set in Scotland in the Fife countryside, just 10 miles from St Andrews and 5 miles from Dundee, Sandford Country Cottages are luxury self-catering cottages & apartments which are part of Sandford House, a 'B' Listed Arts and Crafts House built in 1902.
A family business, the properties have been restored by us with Arts and Crafts features such as oak beams and posts. One, two and three bedroom properties are available and all bedrooms are en-suite, with either a bath or a walk-in shower, and all are fitted with Trevi rainwater showers.
In the living areas you'll find spacious open plan spaces, comfy seating and a dining table and chairs. There is also a flat screen TV and an iPod dock or Sonos sound system. The kitchens are very well-equipped, and are fully fitted with modern appliances.
All properties have central heating and a wood burning stove (except Red Squirrel). Electricity, heating and one basket of logs is included in the rental cost, additional logs can be purchased from the office. Superfast WiFi is free.
We stayed here to celebrate a special birthday and it didn't disappoint. Evelyn and Ralph were very welcoming and the complimentary basket of food was a lovely touch. The standard of the equipment in the apartment is very high and comprehensive and the level of cleanliness cannot be beaten. The surroundings are beautiful and very quiet, which is what we wanted. However, it is very central for exploring Fife and nearby Dundee and its environs. A little gem.
Lovely airy, clean and well equipped properties; instant responses to questions and no problem too hard to resolve! We had a brilliant few days to celebrate being able to be a family together and Evelyn and Ralph tolerated our birthday celebration nonsenses with calm equanimity! Bird life and red squirrels were icing on our cakes!
We ended up staying a full three months and cannot imagine a better, quieter, more comfortable place to have called home while we were searching for a permanent home. Recommended highly if you want to stay in Fife to enjoy almost any activity.
...and they are all lovely - well equipped, comfortable, spotlessly clean and warm. Evelyn and Ralph are wonderful hosts and work hard to provide great apartments. They helped us set up a socially distanced bbq on the terrace for our family together with sun (ie rain!) shades. Valentines is especially good for watching the red squirrels as the 'breakfast bar' looks out directly onto the garden and the feeders. Suffice to say we have made further bookings at Sandford in 2021.
We knew of Sandford because it came highly recommended from friends and we had stayed there for just one night a few years ago. However staying there for a whole week enabled us to appreciate it even more; especially the warm welcome and "nothing is too much bother" attitude of the owners, Evelyn and Ralph. Each of the 3 bedrooms had an ensuite bathroom which standalone shower, wet room or bath with shower over. All bedrooms were spacious.
The open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area had great views over to the Firth of Tay and the hills beyond, and was well equipped. The decor and furniture w...more
