The kitchen is the heart of the house and geared up for numbers and catering. Here entertaining is fun. The tables both inside and outside can easily accommodate 18 and 24 by arrangement. Local caterers work in the house regularly.
The private and secluded garden and grounds are about 2 acres. There is plenty of space to play house badminton or other activities plus there is a huge playing field with two football goals. Great spot of friendly cricket, rounders and football matches. In the outbuildings there is games room with pool table and table football (no heating) and a rustic table tennis room.
The property is situated on the Wye Valley walk and close to circular walks. There are good cycles routes nearby. There is a good eating pub and also cafe within a beautiful hours walk and a fantastic farmshop 1.8 miles from the house which is more than convenient!
Our typical guest is Granny and Grandpa with their children, grandchildren and sometimes great grandchildren. We also see reunions, milestone birthday and anniversaries plus walkers, cyclists, canoeists, gardeners and those who enjoy an active holiday. Book very early indeed for Hay Festival and prime holiday dates.
We wanted something special where the family could get together and celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. Monnington House was just perfect. The House itself exudes luxury with several cosy living rooms and wonderful kitchen facilities. A fabulous dining table allowed us to enjoy our meals and celebrate together. The outside caterers recommended by the House were superb and Debby and t...more

The generously sized bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, were beautifully decorated and furnished. Equally the 3 very comfortable reception "siting rooms" allowed us to spread out but still be with others in the party wether we wanted to join in board games or sit and read ...more
We wanted somewhere where three generations of a family could meet up, who would be travelling from the extreme west of Wales to Sussex and all points in between, celebrating a significant birthday.
We needed a big sociable space where we could cook together chat and chill, but where everyone would have access to their own facilities and plenty of space for different groups to chat or play games or cook amid chat together. Mornington House and Garden Cottage fully met this brief.
The houses are well equipped and very comfortable. Beds incredibly comfortable - bedrooms large and bea...more
