Monnington House and the adjoining Garden Cottage offer luxury self catering holiday accommodation sleeping up to 18. The house and cottage provide 9 spacious bedrooms with 9 bathrooms. Here guests can enjoy privacy and luxury. The superking (zip and link) beds are exceptional and the 400 thread count linen is sumptuous allowing all guests to rest and restore. Monnington House and Garden Cottage can be booked as a sleeps 18 or together with the Cider Mill which sleeps 6 making a large group booking of 24
The kitchen is the heart of the house and geared up for numbers and catering. Here entertaining is fun. The tables both inside and outside can easily accommodate 18 and 24 by arrangement. Local caterers work in the house regularly.
The private and secluded garden and grounds are about 2 acres. There is plenty of space to play house badminton or other activities plus there is a huge playing field with two football goals. Great spot of friendly cricket, rounders and football matches. In the outbuildings there is games room with pool table and table football (no heating) and a rustic table tennis room.
The property is situated on the Wye Valley walk and close to circular walks. There are good cycles routes nearby. There is a good eating pub and also cafe within a beautiful hours walk and a fantastic farmshop 1.8 miles from the house which is more than convenient!
Our typical guest is Granny and Grandpa with their children, grandchildren and sometimes great grandchildren. We also see reunions, milestone birthday and anniversaries plus walkers, cyclists, canoeists, gardeners and those who enjoy an active holiday. Book very early indeed for Hay Festival and prime holiday dates.
Monnington House is a wonderful venue for a family and friends gathering.
The house is beautifully decorated with comfortable and stylish furnishings and overall provides a warm and welcoming space.
The kitchen is very well-equipped with ample crockery, cutlery, cookware, glasses for a large group as well as two ovens, two hobs, an Aga stove, two dishwashers and all in a space large enough for a number of chefs.
All bedrooms are beautifully appointed with extremely comfortable beds and the roomy bathrooms, each with their own style, providing plenty of hot water for a large group.

This was our second year at Monnington, a group of 17 friends, now hitting 70. The location is perfect, there is so much to do, visiting gardens, walking, visiting Hay and Hereford and just enjoying the garden and facilities at Monnington itself. The house is very comfortable and really well equipped, generous amounts of crockery, glass, cookware etc.. Nothing is skimpy, there are pictures, rugs, ornaments that make it all feel homely and cared for, but neutral enough that it doesn't feel like someone else's home. Also generous staples and treats left in all 3 houses. Anna and her team are qui...more
We needed a large house, with ground floor en-suite accommodation for a group of 14 for our Mum’s 90th Birthday. Mornington House and Garden Cottage were absolutely perfect. With a range of living rooms and outside seating areas plus a big kitchen, it suited the multigenerational needs of our group. With 6 boys, the Pool table, table tennis table, football/cricket pitch and badminton court, kept them continually entertained and exhausted me! We went out to Sunday lunch at the Gwatkin Red Cow which was excellent. I would also add that the welcome package was delicious and that Anna was always ...more
Had a lovely stay at The Cider Mill recently. We had great weather so we could sit and enjoy the beautiful garden.
We had trips to Hay on Wye. The Cider Museum in Hereford and some local water gardens.
Walking locally my husband found the church with interesting gravestones. Worth a look inside too.
The Cider Mill was clean, well equipped with comfortable beds, all en suite which was a bonus.
