Our stay was a college reunion of 9 friends in our mid to late 70's. Monnington House was luxurious in accommodation and surroundings. We felt thoroughly spoilt. The kitchen and dining areas contain everything one needs to entertain a large number of people and we were taught how to use an electric Aga which, for some of us, was a first! It would have been useful to have an empty cupboard in the kitchen where we could store some of our dry provisions but we were able to use the larder area. This was our second stay at Monnington House, and it certainly won’t be our last. It’s a wonderful home where every detail has been thoughtfully considered. Without a doubt, it’s the best-equipped house we’ve ever stayed in. Anna is a fantastic host, always friendly, incredibly helpful, and quick to respond. We can’t wait to return!
Our family books a long weekend at Monnington every year and it is always wonderful. It's comfortable enough that nobody ever feels short-changed as everyone has a lovely room, and there are plenty of places for people to sit, read, chat, relax and generally enjoy the beautiful house and grounds. Meals are taken around the table which is large enough to seat everyone and the open plan nature of the kitchen and dining area means that it's easy for everyone to help with preparation of meals and clearing up afterwards. Very rural and peaceful cottage, very close to cider orchards - the apple harvest was in full swing when we were staying. Inside the cottage, everything is well laid out and homely (not just functional like some holiday accommodation). Very clean. Great quality beds/bed linen with 2 standard size showers and 1 larger shower all walk in and en-suite. Food wise, The Red Lion in Madley is one of the closest pubs with reliable food, great service and a proper pub vibe. Kilpeck was excellent for a more upscale menu.
