We spent two weeks at Villa Ettore in July. Villa was very well presented and well equipped kitchen etc. Good location for exploring the area. The owner gave us good recommendations for local dining and events in the area. Pool was great.
Lots of ants but didn't take away from our enjoyment.

Nice stay - a few let-downs. Very overpriced for us.

We were welcomed by friendly Ettore and Theresa, who showed us to the property, where everything was and how it worked - luckily, as it turned out!

We had problems with the dishwasher tripping the villa's circuit breakers and delivering electric shocks for several days - so no dishwasher. One bedroom was without air conditioning all week except the final evening, when the engineer came to re-gas the system.

We couldn't contact Ettore by text or telephone for two days, as he had gone fishing with no means of communication. We e-mailed the rental agent (Guido, at Rentals In Italy) for help - he responded quickly. This was really inconvenient though, as we lost the use of the cooker for a day/night, so had to take the family out to eat at a restaurant at the only restaurant within walking distance. We didn't know the cooker ran from gas bottles, which Theresa adjusted (behind the bins) the day after we contacted Guido.

At checkout, they wanted to charge us 21 Euros from our 800 Euro deposit for one set of sheets - we needed these to make up a bed that we needed for one of our party - so we're not sure why they would charge extra for this. We had stated how many people were staying when we booked. They must have assumed that children would be able to share double beds - this didn't suit our family arrangement. No refund was offered for lack of facilities, but Theresa did waive the bedding charge and city tax for us.

The villa is nicely and interestingly decorated, but not in pristine condition externally as the advert pictures suggest - though not bad. There are a lot of differences between advert pictures and real life. Internally it is lovely, but would benefit from mosquito nets at all doors and windows and air conditioning within the main communal area. I mention this, as we were driven indoors every night, to prevent being eaten alive by the voracious mosquitoes. This meant each evening, we were huddled indoors and too hot. Also - don't drop a single crumb, as there are ants everywhere - mainly outside, but they will find their way inside too.

The kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms all had plenty of storage and bathroom facilities. The main lounge was relaxing and well fitted-out; the quirky pool table provided plenty of entertainment for the family. We didn't use the television, but made use of the good sound system.

The villa is located down a private, gated lane, but is close to the local road and handy shop (that sells most things). Generally peaceful, apart from barking dogs somewhere close by and completely private with great views.

All-in-all, we had a great stay, marred somewhat by the voracious biting insects and we feel that, though we paid a premium price, we didn't quite get premium standards.

We were extremely excited to spend a week at Villa Ettore and couldn't wait to arrive. There were 9 of us, 4 adults and 5 kids ages 6-13. We had trouble finding the villa but our host met us on the road and we followed him there. He was friendly and spoke great English. Upon arrival, we found the house was a tiny bit more run down that the photos made it appear, but considering the age of the house and the fact that photos always make places look better, we didn't mind since the villa was still beautiful. The house was clean with plenty of space. We also rented the small dependence which served as a bedroom and hangout area for the kids when they were tired of the pool. The next morning we awoke to ANTS!!!! Everywhere. Hundreds of them in the kitchen, bathrooms, on the walls etc... We actually took photos since it was that bad. Obviously the owners knew this was a problem since there was a bunch of ant killer underneath the kitchen sink and a note on the fridge advising not to leave food out or ants will appear. Well, we didn’t have any food out but the ants certainly appeared. In the bigger market about 5 mins away, we found some powder ant killer, which we put everywhere inside and outside the villa, especially the kitchen. That actually seemed to help as we went about 4 days without a massive amounts of ants in the house. We still had ants, just not a crazy amount of them. When we checked out, the host told us that they sprayed for ants every two weeks and try their best to control the problem but ants are everywhere in that region so most villas have the same problem. We weren't going to let the ants ruin our vacation and we spent the week touring around the area, boat trip to Capri, day trip to the beach in Positano, Pompeii etc... We spent two days just hanging around the house relaxing and playing the pool and enjoying the sunshine. The villa was in a great location to travel around but driving in that region is tough work. Small narrow roads, with scooters everywhere, made it challenging. Overall, we liked the villa and would recommend it to others. It was beautiful, great location and plenty of space. We just didn't like the ants.

We have just returned from an amazing holiday, staying in Villa Ettore. The villa was very clean, comfortable, and had everything and more that we could have asked for!!
Ettore and Theresa were wonderful hosts, providing a wealth of information on the local areas to visit, including restaurants days out, etc. We will definitely be recommending this villa to friends and family, and hope to return again soon ourselves.
